The first time we see the Audio Q7 is in late May, 2010. One is gray and one black.
A father of one could easily get by with a Toyota Camry. But a couple raising an expanding family would need a much larger solution to meet everyday transportation needs.
And, even when Jake was seen hanging out in New York beginning in mid-September 2011 (before Berlinale and his "official" move to NY announced in March 2012), Jake was immediately seen driving an SUV.

Thanks to blogger Brandon Fuller, August 2010 had a "delayed" sparkle-effect although full impact did not occur until two months later in October (it took two months before Austin was realized to be in "the" photo).
But, for now the origin of our story begins on August 15, 2010, with Jake's attention-grabbing photo op with his niece Ramona Sarsgaard, the spoon-fed narrative informing the viewer that he is on his way to a birthday party on a Sunday afternoon. Remember that from 2006-2012 Jake and Maggie used Ramona on a regular basis to help hide Jake's real living situation. This particular occasion was no different than the others. Jake obviously wanted to be seen. The question is why? Perhaps the pretense of a friend's birthday party covering for the observance of a bris ceremony for a newborn? If true, that would certainly help to explain the timing of Jake acquiring those two Audi Q7s in late May 2010, wouldn't it?
The next day, August 16, Jake is photo'd having lunch with his father, Stephen Gyllenhaal at Cafe Midi in Los Angeles ...
Jake's appearance during the race at Leadville CO occurred the weekend of August 20, 2010 and may not have been discovered were it not for runner and blogger Brandon Fuller, who spotted Jake and reported him in attendance with bro-in-law Peter Sarsgaard.
Jake in the dark olive cargo pants and backwards ball cap with the backpack, and to his left, Mr. Nichols. (Peter Sarsgaard is in the black, long sleeved T and sienna colored fedora.) Of course, there was a very vocal, professional scoffer commenting on Oh My Godot who claimed that was not Austin. But, what else is new?
Was Leadville a celebratory weekend after the newest addition? Jake looked quite content and relaxed in some of the fan photos which appeared once Brandon Fuller "announced" to the world wide web that he was there.

In December of 2011, Austin Nichols traveled to Israel with a group of other actors as part of the America's Voices in Israel program.
Outside of the customary, pleasant social media reactions from his One Tree Hill fans and other interested parties, there was one particular tweet reply to one of Austin's posts which should snag one's attention:

This particular school has a toddler program which begins as early as 14 months, in addition to a pre-K, elementary program, and middle school.
Interesting that this particular school for children should tweet specifically at Austin, wouldn't you say? Last time we checked, Austin was not Jewish, nor did he live in New York where this school is located. However, someone near and dear to his heart sure matched this profile. Raised celebrating Hanukkah and Passover, Jake's bar-mitzvah was celebrated at a homeless shelter, and professionally he seen getting in touch with his heritage by popping up on Shalom Sesame in 2011. Jake was most definitely someone who would enthusiastically introduce his children to the Jewish faith and culture, just like he was raised.

Wow, The Sisters Brothers will take a long time to film: May-August. It wraps just in time for Stronger (and Wildlife) promo!
Audiard's movies are slow-burning, stylized, with raw, simmering, often violent characters. His are more character-driven films than plot-driven (though able to deliver gut-wrenching twists). There's a fantastic scene in "Read my lips" with Cassel and Devos in a restaurant where JA builds tension and suspense with close-ups of their faces. After all, he’s the French auteur who won 5 CESARS, 2 BAFTA and 3 Cannes awards (Palme d'Or awarded by Jake's jury ;) was the icing on the cake). Working with him is a privilege, no matter the story or the part.

But... being a writer as well as a director, Audiard makes every story his own. For "Rust and Bone" he famously changed the gender of a protagonist, thus two unconnected stories of two men became one love story between a man and a woman (played by Marion Cotillard). He turned the male whale trainer from the short story into a fierce woman and made her injuries worse, to enhance the drama. Whatever he's planned for TSB, it's a guarantee that some characteristics will be changed, if not the characters themselves.

I did see Sunday in the Park again on April 9. Michelle Williams and Matilda Ledger were there. It made listening to "Children and Art" and the themes of the show even more poignant. People left them alone for the most part, thankfully.
