In a statement from the musical’s reps, producers (led by Ambassador Theater Group) are said to have made the move to withdraw in light of the season’s jam-packed, competitive slate of musicals. Although no further elaboration was given, the decision seems most likely driven by financial concerns. With a limited run that ends April 23, the production has precious little time to make back its money, and giving away some 1,600 tickets to Tony voters would take a big chunk out of its revenue. Because the production closes more than month before the awards ceremony, any Tonys the show wins wouldn’t help the production’s box office.
“The producers of ‘Sunday in the Park with George’ will not be submitting Hudson Theatre’s engagement of this New York City Center production for awards eligibility,” the statement reads. “With a season so full of tremendous, soon-to-be long-running new musicals and revivals, the producers feel this extremely limited, special run of ‘Sunday’ stands most appropriately outside of any awards competition. The production is nevertheless proud to be part of such a landmark Broadway season.”

It’s not that long ago that Jeff Bridges won his Academy Award for “Crazy Heart,” directed by Scott Cooper. Maggie Gyllenhaal was his co-star and she was nominated for an Oscar as well. The pair proved to be a great success.
Now I can tell you that Bridges and Gyllenhaal will reunite soon to shoot a most unusual reunion. They will play famed architect Mies van der Rohe and his most well known client, Dr. Edith Farnsworth, a prominent Chicago nephrologist. In 1945, Dr. Farnsworth commissioned a glass house from van der Rohe, which he built outside of Chicago in Plano, Illinois.
The 1500 square foot, set on a 60 acre estate, is now a museum, considered an architectural masterpiece. It was placed in the National Register of Historic Homes in 2004.
van der Rohe and Farnsworth had a highly unusual relationship, apparently, with the house becoming the “child” in their marriage.
A source tells me: “Jeff and Maggie have been looking for another movie to do, and this script really appealed to them.”
I’m told the project is coming together quickly. In the meantime, Bridges is busy celebrating his Oscar nomination for “Hell or High Water.” Gyllenhaal is looking forward to her hot HBO series “The Deuce” with James Franco which will be unveiled in September.

Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman and wife Erin Hurley — whose union and inspirational story are the subject of the upcoming film Stronger — are getting divorced.
"Jeff and Erin have decided that it is best to move forward as friends," a Bauman family spokesperson tells THR about the couple, who have been married since November 2014. "Though their relationship has changed, their admiration, love and mutual respect for each other will never waver. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their daughter, Nora, and ask for privacy."
Sources close to the movie, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Tatiana Maslany, say Stronger won't be altered because of the split. Bauman had been waiting at the marathon finish line for then-girlfriend Hurley on April 15, 2013, when a bomb caused him to lose both his legs; he later helped the FBI identify Tamerlan Tsarnaev, one of the bombers. Stronger is based on Bauman's memoir of the same name about the bombing and his recovery.
Lionsgate hasn't set an exact release date for the film, but it is due out later this year. Director David Gordon Green, Gyllenhaal and Maslany worked closely with the couple before shooting the film in late spring 2016, while Gyllenhaal and Bauman, an avid baseball fan, threw out the first pitches together at a Red Sox game in late April of that year.
The first marketing image from the film — posted on Gyllenhaal's Facebook page May 12 — featured his and Maslany's faces in a tender close-up. "Love is strong," was what Gyllenhaal wrote in the caption.
