The person who tweeted about the screening came back with Omygossh Tat, Oscar nom for best supp actress. A fan conversation ensued. Not one single word about the movie or Jake because they don't care, they're Tat stans and OB fans are intense. Frankly we've had enough of this, hopefully a levelheaded, unbiased person will report. I'm sure that Jake is extraordinary in "Stronger", the most dramatic, traumatic and terrifying scenes are his. Let's hope this time he will also have the press on his side, and no more overplaying the co-star card in order to downplay his performance. Fair treatment of both.

He did tell Seacrest he's "fortunately busy" working and I remembered a french interview where Denis said he's going to meet with Jake early December to start working on "The Son":

“The Son” follows a once-gifted 15-year-old and promising wrestler, whose life spirals out of control when his cop father commits suicide. He winds up in prison, nurtured by an uninterrupted supply of heroin from a seedy chaplain on the inside. When he learns long-hidden truths about his father’s unexpected death, he makes a brilliant escape and begins hunting down the people responsible for his wrongful sentence.
Nine Stories, which has a first-look and overhead deal with Bold Films, recently completed principal photography on its first feature film, David Gordon Green’s “Stronger,” starring Gyllenhaal as working-class Boston man Jeff Bauman, who lost his legs in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.
Already in development at Nine Stories is Jack Hitt’s “This American Life” account of Lee Yopp, a former-football-coach-turned-theater-director, who was hired by the U.S. army to stage an annual music pageant on Fort Bragg.
Antoine Fuqua’s cartel drama “The Man Who Made It Snow,” based on David Mermelstein’s bestselling autobiography, is also in development. Gyllenhaal is set to star as Max Mermelstein, a Jewish hotel engineer who transformed Pablo Escobar’s Medellin Cartel from a small mom-and-pop drug organization into a billion-dollar enterprise.

Usually when a trip is taken and shared with friends and family via social media, personal text messages, or a photo album, we may caption that pictorial representation with a humorous comment or simple a label of identification like, "Mt. Rushmore". And since we were actually present, the chances are that the label would be correct. Meaning, we don't caption a photo of the Grand Tetons with "the Smoky Mountains" because you know where you were.
So if one were to go to Washington D.C., the national monuments and iconic buildings are easily identifiable: Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the United States Capitol, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, the National Mall, the White House...

Bennet "forgot" she was across the street at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. Notice the innocent comment in the middle of the thread by Mr. @danielfeeney1138 with the correction: "Eisenhower Executive Office Building really. The house is across West Executive Ave."
Looks like Austin wanted to place himself in Washington D.C. with Bennet the latter part of this week. And why would that be? Could one of the reasons involve Jake's movie, Nocturnal Animals which opened in wide release on Friday, Dec. 9?
Then there's the geographical matter of Jake being announced to appear on Good Morning, America in New York City the morning of Friday, Dec 9. Instead GMA tweets about guests Ryan Gosling and Brett Eldridge on their show that morning.
Where was Jake? He was heard on IHeartRadio being interviewed via phone with Ryan Seacrest.
So Austin was not the only one misrepresenting his location this past week. Jake was as well. Looks like non-disclosure agreements and image rights contractual clauses were in full enforcement.

I can honestly say I have never been more embarrassed and thoroughly disgusted by Austin's behavior than I was today. Today, I very well could have wished Jake to be done with him and kick him out to the curb. Surely there is someone else out there who wouldn't pin Jake into the closet like Austin has.
I blame Austin now for nearly all of the mess. I think Ted was right. Grey Goose is the one who told Toothy they could have it all.
And where it shows is in the proactive enthusiasm that Austin gives to his bearding. He enjoys jerking people around, enjoys the lying, and when he's done for the day, he's done and moves along.

ReplyDeleteI was frantically running around Los Angeles, doing loads of auditions. I remember pulling over to the side of the road to finish reading Richard’s script and being mesmerised. It was clearly influenced by classic directors – Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg – but with this strange psychosis. It beautifully captured the experience of moving into adulthood: the world that felt so solid becoming moveable and liquid. I thought, “This is what my adolescence felt like,” although I don’t speak, and have never spoken to, rabbits.
Richard gave me a lot of room. The voice Donnie uses when he’s talking to Frank, the demonic bunny rabbit, was my choice. As well as being this trippy figure, Frank is Donnie’s only friend, almost like a comfort blanket. So the voice is how a child would talk to his blanket.
It was my idea to have my real-life sister, Maggie, play my sister in the film. We were going through a competitive phase, which fed into the dinner-table scenes, where she tells me: “You can go suck a fuck.” Maggie was the reason I got into acting and is the more formidable of us. Yet I was the one who started my professional career first. Imagine being in a movie with your obnoxious little brother as the lead.
The film took a long time to be found. It started in the UK. I’d just finished a play in London and started doing press for Donnie Darko. The response was so different compared with back home: Brits seem to appreciate that, if you have something special, it doesn’t have to be perfect. They acted like they’d found a kindred spirit.
It wasn’t a conventional adulthood film in the American Pie way. Donnie talks about jerking off, but that’s only a part of it. His psychological journey is what’s important. That’s why it’s had this lasting power. Anything psychological has a slower – but ultimately longer – burn.
The 4K restoration of Donnie Darko is at the BFI, London, 17-30 December and nationwide from 23 December. Details: bfi.org.uk

Ambassador Theatre Group has announced that a revival of Sunday in the Park With George, starring Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (Constellations) and Tony Award winner Annaleigh Ashford (You Can't Take It With You), will reopen the historic Hudson Theatre on Broadway this winter for a strictly limited 10-week engagement.
ReplyDeletePerformances are set to begin February 11, 2017, ahead of a Thursday, February 23 opening, and will play through April 23. The Broadway mounting follows the October concert performances at New York City Center, starring Gyllenhaal as Georges Seurat and Ashford as Dot.
