The fact that "Sara" tweeted about @goosestile by saying " I can't deal with hardcore conspiracists and their theories" officially sealed the deal that these girls were paid accounts. That tweet laid the wax seal of notarization on their paychecks from Mgmnt.

In the case of SXSW, I don't think Austin was ever meant to be seen because it was a trap. That is why Megan did her photo in b/w.

Austin was standing close to Jake's car, with fans around the car, but he wasn't meant to be seen.
Anyone could take and post Jake and Austin photos, but Management paid Sara and Megan to take photos and post them on the Internet because they don't want Jake and Austin to be seen together...

    Fajita, time to quit drinking.

They (Management) were going to post that black & white picture of "Julian Baker" with the fan, get us to commit to squeeing that Austin was at Bangers with Jake, then pull the "that's an older picture of me - see, my hair is now purple" card, and there was going to be no pictorial evidence of Austin being at SXSW ...

Because Management can make Austin invisible and/or stop fans from taking photos of Jake and Austin...
Fajita, alcohol is really bad for you, LOL

"There's nothing that brings me more joy than being up on stage," Gyllenhaal says.

And yes, he hopes to star in a full-fledged musical sooner than later. "My heart is there," Gyllenhaal said. I love it so much. It brings me such joy."

  6. How Jake Gyllenhaal won SXSW with nothing but his weirdo charmMarch 14, 2016 9:18 pm

At SXSW this weekend, Jake Gyllenhaal charmed his way to raucous laughter and exuberant applause for a movie that was frankly awful.

Demolition, written by Bryan Sipe and directed by Dallas Buyer's Club and Wild's Jean-Marc Vallรฉe, tells the story of Davis Mitchell, a man who can't bring himself to appropriately grieve the sudden death of his wife, and so starts literally demolishing everything he can. Like, with a sledgehammer. It starts with the refrigerator his wife asked him to fix, then moves on to the bathroom stalls at work, his computer, and eventually the basic structure of his house. Get it? He's destroying his life so he can rebuild! And that's it. That's the entire movie.

The script has a Garden State / if-only-Miranda-July-were-a-dude vibe that feels anachronistic in 2016. Sipe writes a particularly embarrassing character for Gyllenhaal's co-star, Naomi Watts. After a rogue vending machine refuses to spit out a pack of M&M's, Gyllenhaal takes up writing Patrick Bateman-y missives about urban life to the vending company's customer service rep (Watts). She is —€” for some reason — charmed by this, and so she calls him up one night to say "There's just something about your letters... I'm reading one in the tub right now. I'm not bathing, I'm just sitting here." They never develop a sexual relationship, but he does become best friends with her son and start hanging out at her house all day, sometimes dancing on top of her SUV. Very whimsical!

  7. This movie is so bad. But Jake Gyllenhaal is nauseatingly winning. He's boy-band seductive and a kind of comic genius. The audience let out a belly laugh at Gyllenhaal's pitch perfect delivery of a dumb line: "Jennifer Hymen. That's really her name?" As if to say: who knew?

Gyllenhaal's performance in Demolition could also be called a light-hearted version of the social outcast he played in Nightcrawler: from the clipped, embarrassingly honest speech, to the studied, American Psycho bathroom rituals, right down to the slow blink he does when struggling to comprehend another person's facial expression. The main difference is that Dan Gilroy turned Gyllenhaal into a ghoul, and Vallรฉe plays up the star's boyish looks for maximum maternal-instinct-eliciting effect.

If the movie had been screened without Gyllenhaal present, I'm not sure people would have been as thrilled. But JG was far and away the biggest star who dropped in on the film festival, setting himself up for an easy win with the audience. He sidled on stage uninvited during Vallรฉe's insanely long-winded introduction of the film. To huge applause. Gyllenhaal didn't look like a vain movie star hogging someone else's spotlight, he looked more like a roguish teen, swooping in to charm his buddy out of hot water (Vallรฉe had just recited a Roman Polansky quote for some reason).

He jogged off with a wave as the lights dimmed. The emotional buzz in the room collapsed as we realized it could be two hours before he talked to us again. Fortunately for everyone involved, Demolition has copious amounts of JG voiceover.

    ReplyDelete
  8. During the post-film discussion, Gyllenhaal said, "I was almost a little embarrassed to play this role, since it's kind of like me." In a Q&A earlier that day, he made a similar comment about his 2001 breakthrough role as Donnie Darko, a part that turned Gyllenhaal into a semi-accidental paragon of early aughts counterculture. The cult classic's reach is so pervasive, a young woman at the Demolition premiere, who could not have been older than 10 at Darko's release, used her time at the microphone to shout at Gyllenhaal, "SO HOW EXACTLY DOES ONE SUCK A FUCK?"

Before Donnie Darko, Gyllenhaal was just a cute kid in a bad movie about wanting to be an astronaut. But his portrayal of a teenage intellectual with a great face and subpar social skills was so convincing, he immediately became a quick-witted oddball in the public imagination.

And Jake Gyllenhaal is kind of an oddball. Jake Gyllenhaal believes the moon affects human behavior. Jake Gyllenhaal refuses to tell people how tall he is. Jake Gyllenhaal can quote South Pacific. But Jake Gyllenhaal is the kind of oddball everyone loves — he's handsome, of course, he named his dogs after To Kill a Mockingbird characters, he dated Taylor Swift and he dumped Taylor Swift. He's got a teen cult classic and half a dozen Oscar contenders and a Little Shop of Horrors reboot under his belt. He took his crooked smile and those eyebrows on Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph's Bronx Beat and made your mom swoon.

At the end of the day it's appealing to have a weirdo as one of our best working actors, even if he occasionally picks a lame vehicle for himself —€” like Demolition.

I am not one to think it's cute when attractive men use grins and impeccable suit cuts to breeze past warranted criticism. But Jake Gyllenhaal did it and who even cares? SXSW ate it up with a spoon. After the screening I bought a bag of peanut M&Ms for dinner, like the ones his character tortured himself over in the film, just to feel close to him. It was so dumb I didn't even Snapchat it!

I kind of believe Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the most fascinating people alive. Also that he's the best actor of his generation. I guess that's why we all clapped so hard.

  9. Following this, I sat in on “A Conversation With Jake Gyllenhaal," to promote his movie "Demolition." To hear the actor speak in person was kind of surreal. He was funny and charming—as expected—but there was complete passion in his voice as he discussed his character Davis, a man struggling with apathy following the sudden death of his wife. Gyllenhaal spoke about the various personalities he has had to take on over the years for films like "Donnie Darko," "Southpaw" and "Night Crawler." For him, the characters, as well as the narrative, can be true spectacles of a film.

The talk was incredibly engaging, which was helpful to keep in mind when "Demolition" premiered in Paramount later that night. Gyllenhaal gave what I considered to be an Oscar-worthy performance. As Davis, he carries the film, and through that journey, we see him cope with his apathy by literally taking a sledgehammer to the walls of his home in order to try and symbolically feel something.

And, it even sounds like they were actually with each other at the event too given that guy's tweet.

SXSW outing, you summed it all up so well. Absolutely. Jake and Austin have not been seen together since November 2012. They have geographically polarized them constantly. Austin's been heavily bearding with Bennet for 3 years now. Jake has bearded with Ruthie Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Olivia Wilde, Dakota Johnson, even his pretend wife, Maggie. This has not been done just for kicks. And it all came totally unraveled on Saturday. All because they wanted to prove Goosestile wrong. Those girls and the WFT2 Paid Troll tossed all of that "work" and threw it down the drain as far as we are concerned. Too bad.

The Line cofounder Vanessa Traina flitted in on her way to a dinner uptown while Lily Kwong came by to congratulate Ashe with a hug before she made her way to dinner in Soho. Ashe’s sister Alexi, at the tail end of her pregnancy, was joined by husband Seth Meyers who rushed downtown from 30 Rockefeller Plaza after filming his show. Naomi Watts, whose Tribeca apartment Ashe and Leandro recently renovated featuring a stair runner inspired by the collection, arrived with stylist Jeanann Williams. And Jake Gyllenhaal, part of the Martha’s Vineyard mafia, where Ariel and Alexi grew up spending summers, came by to peruse the rugs. “They’re named after constellations,” explained Ashe of the various pieces, “because the Saharan people are obsessed with stargazing because the sky is so bright there.” As Gyllenhaal made his way around the room women in attendance seemed interested in a different type of stargazing.

  53. Jake Gyllenhaal on His Demolition Role: "I Was Embarrassed to Play the Character Because He's so Similar to Me"

Demolition, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and directed by Jean-Marc Vallรฉe, is one of the buzziest films at SXSW, thanks to its heartbreaking screenplay (Gyllenhaal plays a man who loses his wife in a car accident then struggles to make sense of his life and rewrite his priorities). But despite the heavy premise, the actor incorporates a unique mix of comedy amidst the drama as his character works on rebuilding his life. Following the U.S. premiere in Austin, Texas, this weekend, Gyllenhaal, Vallรฉe, and screenwriter Bryan Sipe sat down with the teary-eyed and captivated SXSW crowd to discuss the story and Gyllenhaal's character.

"It's a fun story to watch and a really moving one as well. I was actually a little embarrassed to play the part because sometimes I felt like the character was really close to myself, but that's all that Jean-Marc wanted," Gyllenhaal said. "I'm thankful to him for that."

Gyllenhaal joked about texting Vallรฉe prior to shooting in an attempt to rehearse, yet rehearsals never materialized before they began shooting. "It's a sign of a great director when they say, 'good idea!' to an actor and then they don't listen to your idea," Gyllenhaal said. "So I just showed up on set without doing all of the things that I usually do to create a character because Jean-Marc didn't want anything to do with that nonsense. He just wanted me."

Demolition opens in theaters nationwide April 8.

  57. How to make friends and thinkfluence people at SXSWMarch 17, 2016 5:08 pm

    Matt, a man from Austin.

    Our story:

Matt and I sat next to each other at the Paramount Theatre at the premiere of Demolition, a Jake Gyllenhaal movie.

Matt was drinking a peach-colored cocktail and told me that when he first got to the theater he went up to the balcony and someone had told him that a small hole in the ceiling (he pointed) was where Harry Houdini used to hang his ropes and things for magic tricks. He said, "Do you think that’s true?" And I said, "'Ropes and things’ is kind of a boring lie. Most people aren’t very good at coming up with boring lies! So I believe it."

Matt and I confided in each other that we were both extremely excited to see if Jake Gyllenhaal was around. He asked me why I had a notebook out and I said, "Well, I’m here as a reporter, I guess." Matt didn’t really understand how I could guess that I was here as a reporter so I explained, "Well, really I’m a social media manager, but they sent me here and I have a notebook and I guess I’m just trying to make it work. We’ll see what happens! Trying to be a real reporter someday you know!" And then I was like gurllll get it together.

Matt said that he was there because his father was Jake Gyllenhaal’s driver in Los Angeles, and his dad had told Jake that he had a son in Austin who would really be interested in attending his film premiere. Matt said he’d never met Jake Gyllenhaal, and it was only his assistant who emailed him with the ticket information. It didn’t seem like this hurt his feelings but I said, "Yeah, but Jake Gyllenhaal still thought of you! What a sweetheart, Jake Gyllenhaal!" really loudly anyway.

When Jake Gyllenhaal finally came out on stage after the movie, I think we both tried very hard not to act weird. When a young woman went up to the microphone and asked Jake Gyllenhaal, "How exactly does one suck a fuck?" Matt said, "WHAT?" I don’t think Matt said "WHAT?" because he didn’t understand the reference — Matt was the kind of guy who would go to the movies by himself on a Saturday night, so it seemed like he had definitely seen Donnie Darko. I am pretty sure Matt said "WHAT?" because he for one thinks it’s very rude and invasive to try to make a "deep-cut reference" to an event in a stranger’s life. Same.

My favorite thing about Matt was how much he loved Jake Gyllenhaal. I love Jake Gyllenhaal too.

I didn’t ask my friend Matt to take a selfie with me because to be honest, I already felt like I had overshared with him. "I need a picture of us to put in an article about how I struggle to make friends" was not how I wanted to end the evening. Also I had been crying.

  62. From an interview with Michael Shannon...

Interviewer: I'm particularly intrigued by Tom Ford's sophomore film, "Nocturnal Animals."

Shannon: That's an amazing script. It's going to be a trippy movie, really unique — because it goes back and forth between two completely diametrically opposed worlds. It's a real head trip, half of it set in the LA art world and the other half is this grimy crime story in Texas. I'm just in the Texas part, playing a detective trying to help Jake Gyllenhaal's character solve a crime.

Want To Know What Jake Gyllenhaal Is Really Like? Watch ‘Nightcrawler,’ He Says

Jake Gyllenhaal is a master of measured interview responses. I experienced it on the phone with him last year and again at South by Southwest on Saturday, where “All the Real Girls” and “Pineapple Express” director David Gordon Green interviewed Gyllenhaal in a room so full that stragglers watched the hourlong event on TV screens outside.

Promoting “Demolition,” the Jean-Marc Vallรฉe-directed drama about an investment banker processing his wife’s sudden death, Gyllenhaal waxed poetic about the “craft” of acting and a lifetime of Hollywood experiences. Here are a few brief takeaways.

    1. When he was 5, Gyllenhaal observed rehearsals for the crime drama “Running on Empty,” written by his mother, Naomi Foner. It was there that little Jake developed a “huge crush” on Martha Plimpton, who was 18 when the film opened in 1988.

    2. Gyllenhaal seems like one of the few bankable A-listers who hasn’t appeared in a superhero movie. It’s not by design, though — the actor loves the genre because it’s often based on mythology. He was “really inspired” by “Thor.”

    3. He calls “Donnie Darko” one of the “proudest accomplishments” of his career, largely because his character’s nebulous paranoia reflects the subjective, mind-bending reality that troubles us all. “If you ever actually want to know what’s going on in people’s minds, go see that movie,” he said.

    4. One of his favorite screen performances is 8-year-old Max Pomeranc’s turn as chess prodigy Josh Waitzkin in “Searching for Bobby Fischer.” Gyllenhaal’s favorite scene partners are kids because their uncalculated choices teach him how to master the moment. He cited Oona Laurence, his co-star in last year’s “Southpaw,” and Judah Lewis, his co-star in next month’s “Demolition,” as two of the most uninhibited performers he’s worked with.

    5. Gyllenhaal disagrees with the reception of his “Nightcrawler” character, a small-time thief who finds work — and an obsession — selling crime footage to TV news stations. Gyllenhaal understands “unfathomable” behavior because that is, after all, a natural part of the human condition. “Everyone was like, ‘He’s so unhinged,” Gyllenhaal said of the character. “And I thought, ‘That’s the closest to me that you’ll get.’”

  70. When Jake Gyllenhaal was 5 years old, he observed two weeks of rehearsals for the 1988 drama “Running on Empty,” written by his mother, Naomi Foner. “I remember sitting with my mom,” Gyllenhaal said on Saturday afternoon at South by Southwest. “We didn’t have a babysitter or anything like that,” so he’d study actors River Phoenix and Martha Plimpton (whom he had a crush on). “I remember River asking questions about things he wasn’t sure about. I remember all these weird things, and I had no idea who I was around.”

“What I saw,” the actor explained, “was a profound respect for the writer. She happened to be my mother. I tried to carry that through.”

  80. Jake Gyllenhaal Brightens St. Patrick's Day for an Injured Boston Hockey PlayerMarch 19, 2016 11:35 am

Jake Gyllenhaal's surprise St. Patrick's Day visit at a Boston hospital made several patients feel like they had the luck of the Irish.

The Southpaw, 35, actor stopped by Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston's Charlestown neighborhood on Thursday in preparation for his upcoming film Stronger in which he stars as Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman.

"He was touring the hospital, just checking things out. They're just checking out locations and people from the book, and Jeff had been cared for here," said a representative for the hospital.

During his tour of the facility, Gyllenhaal ran into Denna Laing, 24, a National Women's Hockey League forward who suffered a serious spinal injury during a game with her team, the Boston Pride. Gyllenhaal stopped to snap some photos with Laing, who shared her celebrity run-in on Twitter.

  99. Jake Gyllenhaal to produce ‘Chris Hondros’ documentaryMarch 20, 2016 11:50 am

It looks like Jake Gyllenhaal is setting his sights on producing a new documentary. It was just revealed that the actor and producer is teaming with Bold Films for his first documentary feature, which will be based on photojournalist Chris Hondros.

“We’re actually doing our first documentary now and it’s through Jake Gyllenhaal,” Bold Films’ CEO Gary Michael Walters told Simon Thompson at Forbes. “He asked us to do it and he’s very passionate about this story.”

“We are financing our first documentary for Nine Stories, Jake’s production company,” Walters added. “It’s a great story about a photojournalist named Chris Hondros. His best friend was doing a documentary about him and during the course of taping of the documentary Chris got killed in Libya during the rebel wars. That will be our first documentary. And you got that story first, it’s an exclusive.”

Hondros was a photojournalist who was twice a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in the Breaking News Photography category. He was killed April 20, 2011 while on assignment in Libya. He was fatally wounded in a mortar attack by government forces in Misrata while covering the 2011 Libyan civil war. Photojournalist Tim Hetherington was also killed in the attack, and two other photographers were left wounded.

  107. Back around 2004, I was living in Calgary and had just got a kitten. I made an appointment to get his shots at a little local vet's office. This was in July, during the Calgary Stampede, so the city was even more cowboyredneck than normal.

As I'm sitting there waiting, the door opens and a guy walks in, dressed all in denim, with a young German Shepherd. It looks like Jake Gyllenhaal, but it can't be him... right?
He tells the receptionist he doesn't have an appointment but asks if they can take a look at his dog's ear problem. She says yes and gives him some paperwork to fill out. He sits down two chairs over from me and I glance over as he's writing his name on the form. Sure enough, "JAKE GYLLENHAAL" in neat and tidy caps.

The receptionist/nurse calls me into the exam room with my kitten for the shots and a few questions. After she closes the door, I say "Do you know who that is out there?"
    "No."
    "That's Jake Gyllenhaal!"
    "Who?"
    Ugh.

Anyway, I go back out to my seat to wait for... something. I forget what. I decide to say something - "So, what are you doing in town?"

"Oh, making a movie," he says, quietly. No details are forthcoming, and I don't want to harass the guy.

The dog - who's named Atticus, btw - starts sniffing my kitten. The kitten's never seen a dog before and is sniffing back cautiously. I'm a little nervous, but he says "Don't worry; he's pretty good with cats." We made a bit more small talk, and then whatever I was waiting for finished and I got up and left.

It wasn't until a year or so later that I realized the movie he was working on at the time was Brokeback Mountain and he was probably a bit nervous about telling some random dude in Calgary that he was making a gay cowboy movie during Stampede.

becketted: The Comic Con of summer 2015 was the only moment where Chloe Bennet was treated as she deserved ...

The Comic Con of summer 2015 was the only moment where Chloe Bennet was treated as she deserved by Marvel/ABC in terms of promotion.

Now they are back to treating her like she’s the third character in importance in the show.

She’s gone from being the focus of the Dubsmash to not even being in the follow-ups and people acting like Clark Gregg is the equivalent of Hayley Atwell in AoS which HE’S FUCKING NOT. Chloe is the equivalent.

She’s gone from doing interviews with her co-lead to being stuck again with the actor who plays a supporting villain - she’s stuck with doing promotion with the actor who supports a hate group who harassed Chloe and her fellow cast members.

Or with Luke Mitchell, who also plays a supporting character, and in any case that also implies that Daisy is just half of a couple. She’s not. She’s the fucking protagonist of the show. She’s not Liz or Iain. She’s not part of any pair. She should either do promos on her own or with her co-lead Clark Gregg.

She deserves better than to be stuck doing interviews with the villain or with a fourth tier character.

Fuck you Marvel/ABC. It’s the third season. You could use the excuse that Chloe was unknown and we didn’t know who her character was. But now it’s been two and a half years and she’s fucking Quake and it’s obvious the show is about her.

I don’t care if it’s a question of money and she can never be paid more than Clark and Ming-na (and ugh, I get rage blackouts thinking Brett Dalton earns more money than her), I don’t fucking care. This is unfair and innacurate and encourages Daisy erasure and racism against her in fandom.

Chloe Bennet plays the first female protagonist in the MCU and the first protagonist of color and she gets treated like a secondary character.

Jake Gyllenhaal Gushes About Wanting to Have a Family of His Own

You’ve probably seen it. It’s the video that quickly went viral showing Jake Gyllenhaal singing a song from “West Side Story.” But Jake says the video was news to him. “I didn’t know [it] was being recorded, and I was totally not prepared,” he told “The Insider With Yahoo” correspondent Michael Yo. But it comes as no surprise that Jake can sing. In fact, it seems there is very little he can’t do. And after performing in a production of “Little Shop of Horrors” last summer, he wouldn’t mind doing musical ...

  139. 'The Walking Dead' Actor Austin Nichols: "My Job is About Blood, Sweat and Dirt"

We hit the road with the gun-toting Spencer Monroe of TV's biggest zombie smash.
    TIM STRUBY 3 HOURS AGO

Austin Nichols is worried. Since landing the role of Spencer Monroe, a sharp-shooting lookout on AMC’s The Walking Dead, he is usually concerned about zombies. Not today. Here, on an early March afternoon in Austin, Texas, it’s all about rain. A massive El Nino-generated low pressure system has hunkered down over the Lone Star State and now Nichols’s afternoon plans – a motorcycle ride to Opie’s BBQ – are in jeopardy.

He steps into his garage. Between the electric car that is charging and the two sleek road bikes hanging on a wall stands his matte black Triumph Scrambler. Customized with glistening chrome pipes, a stitched leather seat and low profile lights, the bike is practically screaming at him to jump on and tear up Route 71 to the town of Spicewood.

Outside the wind churns. Raindrops patter on the driveway. The 35 year-old shakes his head and ambles back inside. His house, a rustic/modern mix in a quiet, leafy section of Ridgewood, is not what one might expect from a guy with Hollywood heartthrob looks who’s co-staring on TV’s top-rated entertainment series. It’s littered with books. Steinbeck, Roth and Cather in the living room shelves. Hobbes, Mailer and Kierkegaard in piles on the bedroom floor. After high school in Austin (his hometown), Nichols matriculated at USC with aspirations to literature and writing.

Yet before he could barely unpack, he landed a role on the Fox sci-fi show Sliders and earned his SAG card. Other parts followed; movies including Wimbledon, The Day After Tomorrow and Glory Road, TV guest spots on Six Feet Under, Deadwood and CSI. His big break came in 2007 when TV guru David Milch cast him as the mysterious lead John Monad in the HBO series John from Cincinnati.

But the metaphysical themes proved too much for audience and critics; the show only lasted a single season. “I really believed in it. We all thought it would catch fire,” says Nichols. “But in the end it was a good lesson. I had to learn how to deal with such a big heartbreak. Pick myself up and keep going.”

    ReplyDelete
  140. Keep going he did (while graduating from USC with an English major). Nichols soon nabbed a four-year stint on One Tree Hill and afterwards a reoccurring role on the Showtime hit Ray Donovan. Then, in 2015, he got a potential game-changing phone call from his agent: an audition for The Walking Dead.

“It was a dummy scene,” explains Nichols, meaning that the show didn’t release real pages from an upcoming episode. “I was flirting with a girl and telling her I have access to car and trying to get us out of there.” The Texas native nailed it and joined the cast in the third-to-last episode of season 5.

Nichols didn’t go out celebrating. He went out and bought books. Every single issue of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comic book series. “It’s amazing how much they helped inform my character,” says Nichols.

That character, Spencer Monroe, is a member of the Alexandria Safe-Zone who serves as one of the lookouts and a sniper in the Alexandria Tower. He’s also more complicated than he may seem. “Spencer comes off as entitled,” explains Nichols. “But there’s a strength to him. There’s a reason he outlived his entire family. He wants to do the right thing and his heart is in the right place but he’s flawed.”

Back at casa Nichols, the El Nino rain persists so instead of his motorcycle he opts for his black pick up truck with a bumper sticker that reads, “Jesus was a Jedi.” On the way to Opie’s Nichols talks about his first ever acting gig at age 15, a blood and guts UT Austin student film.

He confirms that he was, at age 16, ranked third in the world in trick water-skiing, a career that earned him multiple shoulder surgeries. He discusses the influence of some of the greats with whom he’s worked; Ray Donovan’s Liev Schreiber, Deadwood’s Ian McShane and Timothy Olyphant (and basically “the whole cast”) and the inimitable Milch.

The conversation, however, always circles back to the joys of The Walking Dead. “My job is basically about blood, sweat, dirt, running, fighting stunts,” explains Nichols. “If you have a fight scene you go home with cuts, bruises, and a sore back. But when I fall into bed like that it’s a great feeling.”

There is, of course, more to it than that. The show is a juggernaut, a ratings record-breaker, a religion, of sorts, onto its own. It gives the cast a unique vibe, like being part of a championship sports team that’s playing lights out a la the Golden State Warriors. “Except that Andrew Lincoln is our point guard,” laughs Nichols. “He’s simply one of the best examples of classy leadership I’ve ever seen.”

    ReplyDelete
  141. Nichols arrives at Opie’s a few minutes before noon. It’s early, but he knows it’s necessary beat the crowds. Inside the cavernous BBQ mecca, he’s not greeted by a hostess but a massive platter of meats. Here, patrons personally pick what they eat and it’s carved in front of them.

Nichols’s tray towers with ribs, briskets, jalapeno sausage (perhaps wisely steering clear of the cheese-infused links), sides of beans, potato salad, and Opie’s famous tater tot casserole. As he finishes his lunch, the owner sidles up for a chat. Other patrons ask for photos. Nichols gladly obliges and genuinely enjoys chatting them with the ease of a good-natured Texans.

Back in his pick-up, Nichols ponders the future. Today, he jokes, he’ll go back home and digest. In another week he’s off to LA to visit his girlfriend actress Chloe Bennett, an actress on ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Then, at the end of April, he’ll return to Atlanta for season 7 of The Walking Dead.

“I get a sense that my character Spencer may try to be a leader. He’ll either be with Rich (Andrew Lincoln’s character) or against him,” says Nichols. “But unlike with a movie script on a TV show, you never know what’s going to happen at the end.”

  150. Jake Gyllenhaal recalls the moment Peter Jackson told him he was the 'worst actor he'd ever seen'March 23, 2016 9:44 am

Jake Gyllenhaal might have been Oscar nominated for his acclaimed performance in Brokeback Mountain, but the US actor has revealed that The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson harshly branded him the “worst actor he had ever seen” when he auditioned for a role in the fantasy trilogy.

The 35-year-old admitted the disaster while appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon earlier this week. His agents had been so “intensely” thrilled with the idea of him playing Frodo that they forgot to mention that Jackson wanted the Hobbit to have an English accent.

The first half of the audition involved Gyllenhaal miming finding the ring but his efforts only led Jackson to hang his head in shame. Once the dialogue began, it only got worse.

“He literally turned to me and said, ‘You are the worst actor that I have ever seen’,” Gyllenhaal recalled. “He said, ‘Did anyone tell you you were supposed to have an accent?’ I was like, ‘No!’ and he said, ‘Well, fire your agents’.”
