Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Olivier winner Ruth Wilson begin previews in the American premiere of Constellations on December 16. Nick Payne’s new play is directed by Michael Longhurst and will officially open on January 13, 2015 at MTC’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
Constellations tells the story of one relationship with infinite possibilities. It explores the boundless potential of a first encounter, free will and friendship. The play opened at the Royal Court’s Jerwood Theatre Upstairs in 2012, directed by Longhurst, before transferring to the West End.
The production will feature scenic and costume design by Tom Scutt, lighting design by Lee Curran, sound design by David McSeveney and movement direction by Lucy Cullingford.

The results of the Village Voice's annual film poll have just been published, and as with Indiewire's poll (and just about every other), Richard Linklater's "Boyhood" took the top spot, as well as Best Director and Best Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette. The results in other categories frequently parallel the Indiewire polls, which was started by former Voice Film Editor Dennis Lim in 2007, although they have frequently diverged in past years. "CITIZENFOUR" won Best Documentary, "The Babadook" took Best First Feature, Marion Cotillard won Best Actress. The Voice poll combined votes from Cotillard's performances in "Two Days, One Night" and "The Immigrant," giving her a huge first-place victory, while in Indiewire's poll, she finished first and fifth. Voice editor Alan Scherstuhal said that had they not combined votes, Cotillard would have taken both first and second place.
Other categories: J.K. Simmons for Supporting Actor in "Whiplash," check; Wes Anderson, Best Screenplay for "The Grand Budapest Hotel," check. The biggest surprise was "Nightcrawler's" Jake Gyllenhaal edging out "The Grand Budapest Hotel's" Ralph Fiennes for Best Actor, with 53 points on 25 ballots, versus 51 and 22 for Fiennes. That's out of 84 critics total, myself included.

He had to dump the model because another actress is much more tabloid worthy.
