The images are countless, breathtaking: Four editors-in-chief, 16 years online, piles of exclusives, plenty of gossip, invented languages, maddeningly fascinating celebrities (dead and alive) and most importantly — you. The reader.
We did this for two decades, folks! When The Awful Truth, which I founded at Premiere magazine 20 years ago, ends this week, it's not the deliciously decadent Blind Vices I will miss the most...
It's you barking types who always made me feel gloriously alive, with all you had to say and scream and be so real about.
That community is my life's (professional) work up until now. It has meant more to me than each of you will ever know.
But it really is time to move on.
If you don't agree, just keep in mind that when I first took this job at E!—in 1996, when the network founded E! Online—I was working at the established and respected Premiere magazine. Scores of people told me, "Online just isn't the place to go."
Everybody told me to pass on the job, and so I did. Then I called back the next day and an amazing man named Lew Harris said, yes, of course, I could change my mind. And I did.
So that's what I'd like my last words to be: Always do what you're not supposed to do.

Realy hate to see Jake smoking, can't help but think that it's a bad sign of his state of mind.

As for the Jake G/Kirsten Dunst thing some of you have been asking about—she was horrible all of the time. Every time I saw them together, he looked like a kicked puppy. He was constantly apologizing for her—she was rude, snippy and generally unpleasant to everyone. She would do that “look at me but don’t look at me” thing all the f*cking time and it seemed to mortify him to no end, but the worst was her barking at wait staff at restaurants and Jake G sticking around after to apologize and make sure the waiter got tipped. The image of her snapping at someone and him mouthing “I’m sorry” behind her back is ingrained in my mind forever.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld are hosting a starry showing of Jake Gyllenhaal’s new movie, “End of Watch,” Sunday in East Hampton.
Ingrid Sischy and Sandra Brant will also host the Open Road Films event at the Goose Creek screening room. Gyllenhaal will attend even while he’s deep in rehearsals for his US stage debut in Nick Payne’s “If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet,” which starts previews next week. During his photo shoot for the cover of this month’s Details, Jake Gyllenhaal was let loose with a camera, using it to capture the boredom and the tedium that accompanies such a high profile shoot, along with plenty of shots of craft services and people bitching about each other. Oh, Hollywood!
The short also plays as a nice companion piece to the single song that makes up its soundtrack – Aaron Embry’s “Moon on a Daylit Sky.” Yes, it’s pretty naval-gazey, but aren’t most photo shoots?
