Love and Obstacles
October 4, 2010
This past weekend, the New Yorker held its annual festival, which -- as always -- includes a multitude of speakers and panels discussing a variety of topics. Top players in all professions were represented, including Stephen King, Malcolm Gladwell, Jake Gyllenhaal and Regina Spektor -- all chatting about themselves and their areas of expertise. Our favorite, though, would have to have been Cynthia Nixon on the panel discussion "Love and Obstacles: The Case for Gay Marriage."
Ms. Nixon, who is most known for her role has Miranda Hobbes in Sex and the City, and now is engaged to education activist Christine Marinoni, stole our hearts with her rather calm, well made argument. Not only does she make a good case, she makes an example of how to make said point.
“Gay people who want to marry have no desire to redefine marriage in any way. When women got the vote, they did not redefine voting. When African-Americans got the right to sit at a lunch counter alongside white people, they did not redefine eating out. They were simply invited to the table. And that is all we want to do. We have no desire to change marriage. We want to be entitled to not only the same privileges, but the same responsibilities as straight people.”

Dear Ted:
Is it beyond the realm of possibility that Toothy might like boys and girls? As per your Blind Vices, he seems to fluctuate between the two a lot...
—L
Dear Uh, Duh:
Any loyal B.V. enthusiast knows Toothy is a fan of both teams. We're just waiting for him to commit to one of his many, many relationship contracts.

Any loyal B.V. enthusiast knows Toothy is a fan of both teams.
Didn't Ted say a couple weeks ago that Toothy was definitely gay? It was answered with a few other answers and the one that applied to the gay/bi question was "He's gay. Because I know."
WFT2 and OMG are smaller and more manageable.
And getting smaller all the time.
Why wasn't there the same "public outcry" when TR Knight became involved with his 19 year old partner?
8:16 AM - Jake is still gay and gay is still OK :)))))
Why wasn't there the same "public outcry" when TR Knight became involved with his 19 year old partner?
Don't worry, Jake isn't involved with TS.
Didn't Ted say a couple weeks ago that Toothy was definitely gay?
Yes, but Ted forgot about that "detail".
We're just waiting for him to commit to one of his many, many relationship contracts.
What is Ted saying?
If he isn't involved with TS, why the trashing? Reese, Sophia, Taylor, anonymous assistants - why so overly sensitive if these women aren't really involved with the guys? If it's the bearding, bitch about that and not call them every name in the book.
But some of the OMG'ers are clairvoyant, didn't you know that?
If he isn't involved with TS, why the trashing?
There is no trashing, read posts.
We're just waiting for him to commit to one of his many, many relationship contracts.
What is Ted saying?
I have no idea.
We're just waiting for him to commit to one of his many, many relationship contracts.
We are waiting for Jake to decide about his new beard? Because committing to some gay trick doesn't make sense.
Any loyal B.V. enthusiast knows Toothy is a fan of both teams. We're just waiting for him to commit to one of his many, many relationship contracts.
So, now Toothy is bi again. According to Ted, Toothy, at first, was bi then gay now bi again.
Make up your mind, Teddy boy!
We're just waiting for him to commit to one of his many, many relationship contracts.
What is Ted saying?
^^
8:24 AM, Ted's probably saying that Jake lets the gals and guys he has sex with sign contracts to keep their mouths shut.
What about "waiting for him to commit" part?
8:24 AM, Ted's probably saying that Jake lets the gals and guys he has sex with sign contracts to keep their mouths shut.
Why would Jake hide his female sex partners? Because he has sex only with strippers? lol
I think that part was a joke, like he sleeps around, but didn't find someone to settle down yet. JMO.
So, now Toothy is bi again. According to Ted, Toothy, at first, was bi then gay now bi again. Make up your mind, Teddy boy!
Ted also forgot about Toothy's committed relationship with GG!!!
Because he has sex only with strippers? lol
Yeah, I think the people he hooks up with are payable and/or cheap/easy. You know, the types that do all the "perv" stuff with you. Again JMO.
I think that part was a joke, like he sleeps around, but didn't find someone to settle down yet. JMO.
Sleeps around like there is no GG?
Sleeps around like there is no GG?
You are not the only one who noticed the GG omission. ;)
Ted is forgetting his own lies. This guy is just messing with you all, he has no respect for the people who truly believe Jake is Toothy. Ted's like a bad boyfriend (the ones Taylor writes about) he's been caught in so many lies that he is back pedaling to keep you guys believing Jake is Toothy. I remember more than once Ted saying Jake was gay. His last Shafterella's comments had stated that she dropped her boy all of sudden to make sure people believed the gay rumors and Ted said yes the boyfriend was gay not bi but gay. If Reese is Shafty then that leaves Jake as the gay boyfriend. I think Ted wanted Jake to be gay but realize Jonathan Jackson's story was false and it was too late to back out.
If Jake is Toothy and is bi then his relationships with women were real. Or Ted is just lying about everything. If this doesn't blow his credibility with you all then that's just sad. He's dating Taylor a girl get over it.
You are not the only one who noticed the GG omission. ;)
Well, GG omission doesn't really bother me, but Ted's inconsistency does! lol
He's dating Taylor a girl get over it.
Tabloid nonsense.
He's dating Taylor a girl get over it.
Or they are just hanging out for a reason, or it's just a fling. We'll see.
If Jake is Toothy and is bi then his relationships with women were real.
You keep forgetting that IN REAL LIFE Jake doesn't date women.
If this doesn't blow his credibility with you all then that's just sad.
Sadly, with some, this won't be happening. They'll spin what Ted said again...somehow.
You keep forgetting that IN REAL LIFE Jake doesn't date women.
Didn't you read that Ted implied Jake does hook up with men AND women secretly.
9:39AM sure knows a lot of details about what Ted says and doesn't say, seems to keep a record of it, lol. Babblers do that too, they hate Ted and think everything he says is bullshit - but they still obviously read him, lol. I remember during that stupid drunkenstepfather b.s., LG was quick to point out that Ted defended Jake, like all of a sudden what he says is worth paying attention to :D
Ted's most recent post makes no sense again, but I'm sure he'll be asked to clarify again, lol. As for "GG," it seems to me Ted's been trying to let the OMGers down slowly on that one. Obviously no "committed" relationship there.
Bisexual Jake would hook up with women in public, heterosexual dating would be good for his image.
Didn't you read that Ted implied Jake does hook up with men AND women secretly.
Yes. I've also read 10 BVs where Ted claimed that Jake is gayer than him.
9:51 # 2, he did have a string of public relationships with women, whether you think they were genuine or not is your descision.
You keep forgetting that IN REAL LIFE Jake doesn't date women.
Please take off the blinders or stop covering your eyes.
It's clear when you peek thru your hands or blinders, you see what you want. But let me tell you this. Jake has been seen with women / girls / females 95% of the time or by himself. Let's not include Kirsten for over 2 to 3 years and almost 3 years of Reese. A thinking person, a real thinking person would come to the conclusion that he just might be str8 or bi., like most bi in the closet or DL men. Or heaven forbid, Str8.
But go ahead, continue your little song, Jake is Gay because....
It's getting stupider and stupider,? if that's a word LOL
Open your eyes or take of the horse blinders and stop looking in one direction, your direction.
Ted is trying to correct his years of lies and bullshit. He led you on. No TT and GG wedding in the near future.
A lot of closeted gay celebrities have public "relationships" with women. Jake's "relationship" with Reese Witherspoon was 100% fake, they proved that over and over again, from Rome start to finish.
Ted always gives us little "shout outs" to let us know he is reading the blogs. I'm sure there will be a bombshell soon.
A thinking person, a real thinking person would come to the conclusion that he just might be str8 or bi., like most bi in the closet or DL men. Or heaven forbid, Str8.
LOL! Nothing, NOTHING can turn obvious Reeke fakery into a real relationship, deal with that :)
I believe Jake is bisexual at least. Like most bisexual men, he'll never talk about it and continue relationship with females in public and may marry and have children.
I agree, Ted is trying to correct this for once and all. They gay fans will have a fit.
Ted is trying to correct his years of lies and bullshit. He led you on. No TT and GG wedding in the near future.
Jake is gay with and without GG.
LOL! Nothing, NOTHING can turn obvious Reeke fakery into a real relationship, deal with that :)
I have he's still constantly with a female. YOU have not dealt with that Well. And Won't!
They gay fans will have a fit.
Silly babbler, we don't need Ted to tell us that Jake is gay, Jake is doing that on his own.
"He's dating Taylor a girl get over it.
Tabloid nonsense.'
nope not this time or with Reese, I do think there's a possibility Jake is bi which is why Reese may have dumped him. Taylor will write about it and Jake will be cornered. So some of you believers should be overjoyed with this relationship because if anyone is going to out him as gay or bi it will be Taylor if she catches him. Haven't you all noticed that whenever someone such as Adam Levine or Reese's friends comment on Jake's sexuality its always "he's not gay", bisexual and gay are not the same thing.
Or he could marry her after getting her pregnant. She is from PA where he has family and she plays guitar like him. And she belives in never growing up which is what Reese said about Jake. So maybe its a match made in heaven. But hanging out in someone's dressing room with their mom says alot. And why is Jake still in NYC when Maggie and Peter are in the UK?
Jake is gay with and without GG.
Based on what do you think Jake is gay? Apparently Ted is just rambling and any sane person wouldn't take him seriously. Are you the person who said that Jake's "gay voice and gestures" are proof he's gay?
he did have a string of public relationships with women
A "string"? Really? Wow, the tabloids really dropped the ball on covering that!
LOL! Nothing, NOTHING can turn obvious Reeke fakery into a real relationship, deal with that :)
****
I have he's still constantly with a female. YOU have not dealt with that Well. And Won't!
^^ Don't upset him more, PLEASE. He's still crying and having a bad day because of what Ted said.
Silly babbler, we don't need Ted to tell us that Jake is gay, Jake is doing that on his own.
How?
AWWWW :)))
Isn't it sweet how babblers suddenly trust and like Ted when he said that Jake "likes boys and girls"? LMAO
Silly babbler, we don't need Ted to tell us that Jake is gay, Jake is doing that on his own.
You really want me to repeat Jake's history of bearding? :)
Silly babbler, we don't need Ted to tell us that Jake is gay, Jake is doing that on his own.
I'm not a babbler. Ted is a lying little shit which he proved again. The silly one is you, unfortunately.
Isn't it sweet how babblers suddenly trust and like Ted when he said that Jake "likes boys and girls"? LMAO
^^ Sorry, stopped trusting Ted's words years ago. And YOU?
It's just obvious to me he's trying to correct this situation and let the Jake is only gay fanbase down ever so SLOWLY.
Deal with it.
No TT and GG wedding in the near future.
No shit, lol. You're on the wrong blog again. Anyone who really cares what "GG" is doing or how it relates to Toothy is over at OMG.
He's still crying and having a bad day because of what Ted said.
Silly fangirl, since when do you trust Ted?
If you trust Ted than you trust him that Reeke was a showmance, too. And that Jake has a kid with a man. A man he's with for years.
You believe that too? Well?
It's just obvious to me he's trying to correct this situation and let the Jake is only gay fanbase down ever so SLOWLY.
Are you aware that there is a difference between gossip and real life? Are you?
Jake is gay and no amount of gossip can turn him straight, bisexual or asexual.
Silly fangirl, since when do you trust Ted?
It' not the "silly fangirl" who trusts Ted, it's the poor cryer whose world is starting to crumble, because s/he realizes that Ted is nothing but a lier pants on fire.
Jake is gay and no amount of gossip can turn him straight, bisexual or asexual.
Based on what is he gay? He said numerous times that he's not. He dated women publically. Tell me, what makes you so sure then? I really wanna know.
Sorry, stopped trusting Ted's words years ago. And YOU?
I'm not 10:08, but I find it funny that you still keep track of what Ted says and seem to care so much about it that it gets you riled up :) (Oh, and don't bother pretending that you're not riled up) Some of us never "trusted" Ted, just used our own eyes and brains and common sense to know that Reese was a beard.
Based on what is he gay? He said numerous times that he's not. He dated women publically. Tell me, what makes you so sure then?
100 things, all discussed more than once in the last 5 years. Most of them are here, comments on this blog.
PR posts here and makes up lies
Some of us never "trusted" Ted, just used our own eyes and brains and common sense to know that Reese was a beard.
Just as many thought they were real. Are you saying those who believed it was real are intellectually inferior to you? I think it's a case of everyone believes what they want to believe, see what they want to see. In the end no one knows the exact context of the pictures taken. You can assume something, but your assumption does't have to be what's actually going on.
Hypothetically, if you didn't know about Toothy Tile and seen Jake with Reese, would you still be so convinced it's a bearding situation?
^^I think many were influenced by Ted re. Reeke perception.
PR posts here and makes up lies
Huh? Instead of giving answers, eloquently explaining their believes, we get such paranoid BS. YAWN.
Could Tom Hardy Play Det. Harvey Bullock In The Dark Knight Rises?
ONTD
Tom's a brave one, he openly admitted to having sex with women and men and his film career is still very solid.
Anne Hathaway to host SNL:
SNL
^^I guess it shows who the bigger star is out of Jake and Anne...
Hypothetically, if you didn't know about Toothy Tile and seen Jake with Reese, would you still be so convinced it's a bearding situation?
You're making assumptions :) I came to all of this a little late, I guess, b/c I didn't actually know about TT and Ted before Reese, so you have it backwards. Sorry, but I don't hang on Ted's every word like you want to think. I'm not going to pretend to believe I thought they were a real couple just to appease you or to sound politically correct. I'm also not going to rehash all the reasons why I believe what I do. I'm not going to convince you and I'm not trying to convince you. I don't go to other sites trying to make people see the "error of their ways". Let them believe what they want. What do I care? Unlike you, it's not important to me to try and convince people to think the way I do or believe what I do. That's why I'm on THIS blog and not trolling and lecturing at other ones.
Your lectures have gone past being old and tired. I don't know why you can't see that you're not saying anything that hasn't been said 895 times before and that the 896th time isn't going to be more effective. You're trying to pretend that you're superior and "open-minded" but your constant lecturing gives you away. No one without an agenda would spend so much time on a blog they don't believe in.
I thought the Variety review for LAOD was positive?? It's rotten on RT. :(
Really? It is a positive review. It must be a mistake.
Taylor Swift: Serious About Career, Not Jake Gyllenhaal
Yes, Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal were spotted around New York City this week.
But no matter how cozy the pair looked together, a friend of the singer's tells fans they can stop trying to come up with a nickname for this twosome. They aren't a couple.
"Taylor is very serious about her career," this source told People. "For her, it's all about the career right now. She's not really interested in getting heavily involved with anyone."
It's hard to imagine when Swift would even find time to date. She's spent the entire month promoting her new album, "Speak Now," appearing this week on The Today Show and The Late Show with David Letterman, both of which are pictured above.
A friend of Gyllenhaal's agrees that there's little to romantic rumors between Jake and Taylor, saying:
"They're cute together. But I don't think there's anything to it. Everyone's talking about it. They hung out. But that's it. I don't think they're a couple."
Swift better find someone new to date soon, though. How else will she come up with songs for another album?
Variety consensus:
A super-slick romantic comedy about a charismatic go-getter who pursues his calling and his soulmate in the unlikely world of pharmaceutical sales, "Love & Other Drugs" is snappy, saucy and, like any overzealous product-pusher, rather too eager to please. Notable for its barbed portrait of how doctors and drug companies do business, as well as an uncommon degree of sexual candor for a mainstream picture, this smartly packaged item otherwise hews closely to genre prescriptions. That bodes well for B.O. prospects, and ingratiating performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway should help sell the Fox release to the general public.
It must be a mistake.
Don't the critics/publications themselves submit the reviews?
Don't the critics/publications themselves submit the reviews?
I've no idea.
Do respected bloggers like Todd McCarthy or the In Contention bloggers submit their reviews too? And how relevant are their reviews? Anyone knows?
I guess it shows who the bigger star is out of Jake and Anne...
She's more mainstream.
Do respected bloggers like Todd McCarthy or the In Contention bloggers submit their reviews too? And how relevant are their reviews? Anyone knows?
I don't know about In Contention (probably yes) but Todd McCarthy is a very respected critic, he worked for Variety, Reuters and now indiWIRE. He's one of the top critics on RT.
Here's the entire review. Not completely negative, but not completey positive. I don't know how they determine fresh or rotten, but there's 87% rating on interest in seeing it, so that's good.

Love & Other Drugs
By JUSTIN CHANG
Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal star in Fox's romantic drama 'Love & Other Drugs.'
A super-slick romantic comedy about a charismatic go-getter who pursues his calling and his soul mate in the unlikely world of pharmaceutical sales, "Love & Other Drugs" is snappy, saucy and, like any overzealous product-pusher, rather too eager to please.
Loosely adapted from Jamie Reidy's humorous memoir, "Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman," "Love & Other Drugs" qualifies as a change of pace for the usually more epic-minded Edward Zwick ("Defiance," "The Last Samurai"). Still, the film has some interesting points of contact with the director's "Blood Diamond," which similarly took aim at a corrupt global industry, represented by an ambitious young stud with a wobbly moral compass. Here, that would be Jamie Randall (Gyllenhaal), a good-looking, fast-talking young man who's a chronic underachiever everywhere except between the sheets -- at least, until he lands a sales position at pharmaceutical giant Pfizer.
It's 1996, and the screenplay (by Zwick, Charles Randolph and Marshall Herskovitz, all credited as producers) amusingly sketches the mass commercialization of the drug industry, as Jamie and hundreds of other aspiring reps are trained to pitch products like Zoloft to doctors, some of whom require more persuasion than others. With his eye on a coveted Pfizer post in Chicago, Jamie is not above seducing a clinic receptionist (Judy Greer), sabotaging a Prozac-peddling rival (Gabriel Macht) or resorting to other unscrupulous means, often encouraged by his battle-hardened mentor (a fine Oliver Platt).
One of these tactics brings Jamie into unexpected contact with Maggie Murdock (Hathaway), who, at 26, has already been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. After an unusually punchy meet-cute -- he peeks at her bare breast during a medical exam, she wallops him with her messenger bag -- Jamie soon becomes smitten with the wry, rough-edged Maggie, who readily agrees to sleep with him but insists on maintaining an emotional distance. And so, the love of a good but sick woman helps Jamie regain his lost soul, while his steadfast devotion throws Maggie off-guard and forces her to confront her own commitment issues.
If one can get past the calculation inherent in the drug-pushing-boy-meets-disease-stricken-girl setup, "Love & Other Drugs" clicks largely because its actors do (no small feat, considering what an unhappy couple Gyllenhaal and Hathaway made in "Brokeback Mountain"). Their ribald pillow talk lends the film a verbal tartness that's complemented visually by the abundant nudity, though tasteful use of shadows and strategic camera placement still leave plenty to the imagination.
Jamie's tempestuous relationship with Maggie coincides with his, er, rising fortunes when he's tapped to sell Viagra, just as demand for the performance-enhancing drug is beginning to sweep the nation, and Zwick's unflattering snapshot of the venality of the medical establishment is fascinating, if fanciful (one hopes). But it also raises expectations of seriousness, or at least deeper satirical intent, that fizzle out as the film earnestly toes the romantic-comedy line.
There seems to be no significant development, whether it's Jamie's training at Pfizer or his tireless quest for a cure for Parkinson's, that can't be reduced to a zippy montage, and the final scenes are awash in much teary emoting and the unsubtle strains of James Newton Howard's score. In this context, even the character of Jamie's less attractive but more successful brother (an amusing Josh Gad) comes across as a stock supporting oaf. "Love & Other Drugs" is a jagged little pill that, in the end, goes down too smoothly.
That the film's treatment of Parkinson's disease feels as respectful as it does is a credit to Hathaway's sensitive, understated rendering of her character's symptoms, which appear to manifest themselves only when most convenient for the narrative. Crucially, the actress makes Maggie a vivacious presence, the sheer force of her spirit serving as a rebuke to her physical setbacks and countering the film's generally insulting view of women (who fall into three basic categories here: bimbos, opportunists and Parkinson's patients). As Jamie, the ideally cast Gyllenhaal turns on the charm full force, his energetic puppy-dog demeanor all but daring the viewer not to buy whatever he's selling.
Smoothly mounted pic was lensed in and around Pittsburgh. Soundtrack, crammed with '90s hits, seems overly determined to underscore the pic's timeframe.
I'm really curious how other important critics will review the film. If the Variety one is negative, then the one from the HR will probably be seen as negative too. The Playlist is definitely postitive.
So far all movie bloggers hated it, the In Contention guy, Gene Shalit. And Todd Mccarthy.
I don't think that's good. It'd suck if this becomes a flop too. When was Jake's last hit? BBM in 2005. That's not good.
The reviews might be uneven, but I don't think it will be a flop. Even the negative reviews think it will do well at the b.o.
Clooney got Gosling for Farragut North:
link
As we all know Jake wanted to play the role. But if Jake's career continues its current route, he'll be out very soon.
Variety review is positive.
Clooney got Gosling for Farragut North
Shit! Sorry Ryan.
Even the negative reviews think it will do well at the b.o.
Many thought that about PoP too, but look how it turned out.
But if Jake's career continues its current route, he'll be out very soon.
He should try to find better projects instead of hanging out with/testing potential beards.
Hypothetically, if you didn't know about Toothy Tile and seen Jake with Reese, would you still be so convinced it's a bearding situation?
^^ Most people would not.
It would just be another ho-hum situation and just be choked up as another HW couple who won't last.
One friend who vaugely heard of the rumors but did not believe them, joking said, "Oh he has to be gay" when saw J/R in the Parade Magazine. He was joking though.
He does not follow Jake or TT.
Another friend said "oh he's gay aint he" because she (read it somewhere). She also does not follow Jake and know nothing of TT, but she does read ent. mag. and gossip.
None of these people really think he is and don't care.
Can you image what's going on over at OMG since Ted's Latest "Juicy Tidbits". They have to be pulling their hair out by the Roots.
Hypothetically, if you didn't know about Toothy Tile and seen Jake with Reese, would you still be so convinced it's a bearding situation?
Remember first Rome pictures from 2007?
Remember TMZ poll from that time: are they really dating?
Those Rome pictures were bad, just slightly better than Bradley and Reene. Two actors, but they looked awkward and staged.
And I remember Italian Vanity Fair 2007 interview and the interviewer noticing that Jake blushed when answering Reeke question - at least Jake was embarrassed to lie face to face.
Those Rome pictures were bad, just slightly better than Bradley and Reene. Two actors, but they looked awkward and staged.
What? You thought that piggyback thing looked fake? That was one of my best moves!!!
Hey I can agree with you on the Rome pictures, but to people who don't follow Jake or Reese. They wouldn't care or give it a second thought. They're not disecting the photos.
It still does not mean something was really going on. Maybe it was real, maybe it was NOT Real.
I was not with them most of the time or when they were not being photographed..
Wait a minute, I was not with them at all and they were (together?) for close to 3 years.
It still does not mean something was really going on. Maybe it was real, maybe it was NOT Real.
Nothing was real about Reeke, no question in my mind and I was there form the start.
I was not with them most of the time or when they were not being photographed..
So? I guess you believed "Jake moved in!" Us Weekly cover / headline, too.
I was not with them most of the time or when they were not being photographed..
Awwww, too bad you had no opportunity to see Jake around other people or couples who are dating.
no question in my mind and I was there form the start.
^^ What? YOU mean at your computer disecting pictures and precieved body language?
That can work sometimes but those were only seconds of a person/peoples life.
23.59 other hours and minutes of unseen life.
That's not a good judgement although it's most of what you're basing your argument on.
Look, nobody here knows anything for sure, it's only our points of view and it's stupid to get mad and act if our views are the right ones since nobody has spent time with either person.
YOU mean at your computer disecting pictures and precieved body language?
Some people use their brains and experiences to form their own opinions, that must be a very strange concept to you!
Look, nobody here knows anything for sure, it's only our points of view and it's stupid to get mad and act if our views are the right ones since nobody has spent time with either person.
I KNOW for sure that Reeke was FAKE. 100%. Fakers made too many mistakes.
it's stupid to get mad
I have every right to get mad when people like you imply that gay Jake is a bad opinion, that everything else is better than that.
Can you image what's going on over at OMG since Ted's Latest "Juicy Tidbits".
Why? Ted keeps repeating that TT and GG are together and that there is BT.
Some people use their brains and experiences to form their own opinions, that must be a very strange concept to you!
No, Not Strange Dear,
My brain helps me to understand that you have no understanding of Fact from Fiction, Perception from Truth, Fantasy from Reality, Ignorance from Understanding, Neediness from self Reliance and Confidence, So you ACT out.
YOU need to find a boyfriend before you can even talk about (EXPERIENCE??)..
Why? Ted keeps repeating that TT and GG are together and that there is BT.
^^^^
Wow, ROTFLMAO Some will never learn.
He should try to find better projects instead of hanging out with/testing potential beards.
I think it has less to do with hanging out with girlfriends or beards, rather with talent and luck. Even though he's solid, he can't elevate a movie a la Depp in POTC. Finding projects that turn out to be good films is a matter of luck.
Learn what?
It is driving 2:09PM out of their mind that everyone won't agree to say the words: "Jake could be straight, bi or gay."
My brain helps me to understand that you have no understanding of Fact from Fiction, Perception from Truth...
Your homophobic little brain has problem only with "Jake is gay' opinion. You are transparent.
Finding projects that turn out to be good films is a matter of luck.
Luck and 'work' - hanging out with the right people.
Wow, ROTFLMAO Some will never learn.
Why can't you see that some posters will never change their minds? Jake is gay, with Austin and there is/are BT's. It's an obsession. Arguing is pointless.
I've been on WFT from the start and by now I doubt almost everything Ted says. Too many inconsistencies. I'd be ashamed of myself to buy every nonsense by him. In my opinion Jake is bi. Even though I'm no JIG, Jaustin and BT believer, I'll continue to post here for fun, because I'm used to it and I won't let some obsessed, immature teenagers spoil my fun.
Why can't you see that some posters will never change their minds?
So? Babblers will never ever admit that Jake bearded with the chin.
2:35 I agree. Let's have fun
So? Babblers will never ever admit that Jake bearded with the chin.
Why care what they think or don't think?
Luck and 'work' - hanging out with the right people.
Right people, true.
2:35 I agree. Let's have fun
Thanks. It's really weird taking stuff too seriously on a fan or gossip blog.
Will Sex Scenes in “Love and Other Drugs” Pose a PR Problem for Pfizer?

Taylor Swift Kisses and Tells ... and Goes Too Far
Like it or not, Taylor Swift is apparently the confessional female singer/songwriter of her generation. Articles breathlessly describe the "revealing" nature of her work, and report statements she's made like "I continue to write music about my life and my life is always changing" as if no-one had tried such a thing before. And with her third album Speak Now, there's more attention than ever being paid to what she's confessing. Which is entirely predictable: Her life now includes plenty of famous names, including allegedly faithless Disney star Joe Jonas, Twilight heartthrob Taylor Lautner, and tabloid fixture John Mayer. Although Swift is coy in interviews, she leaves plenty of clues as to the identities of her subjects, and never denies that these are the men she's singing about, making listening to Speak Now more like reading an extremely emotional issue of Us Weekly than taking in a new, soon-to-be-hit album.
Of course, celebrities writing about celebrities is a long-standing tradition. So are attempts to figure out exactly who is the target of each song. Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" was released in 1972; Simon was still releasing "clues" about it early this year, and all we know is that it's not about Mick Jagger, it might be partly about Warren Beatty, and Simon says it has nothing to do with a "David" despite reported confirmation from her representatives that it does. Joni Mitchell attached names to her songs only intermittently; "Willy" is pretty much explicitly about Graham Nash, but according to the biography Girls Like Us, she told one friend that "A Case of You" was about Leonard Cohen, and another that it was about James Taylor. Tori Amos's fans are still trying to figure out the exact nature of her relationship with Trent Reznor, based on a handful of lyrical references and the fact that they seemed close in the mid-90s. Sure, you'll get an occasional Fleetwood Mac, whose Rumors deliberately played with their well-known break-ups and changing alliances.
But Swift makes detecting the identities of her subjects remarkably easy. The girl who once proclaimed that "every single one of the guys that I've written songs about has been tracked down on MySpace by my fans" is including names, professions, and ages in her lyrics, seemingly to ensure that her subjects can be hunted down like dogs, potentially by the media, which participates ever more eagerly in the game of Find the Dirty Laundry. Swift's closest contemporary, in terms of willingness to specify her subjects, might just be (speaking of Trent Reznor) Courtney Love.
In comparison to her forebears, however, Swift's "autobiographical" songs feel alarmingly market-driven. Confessional writing is meant to implicate the writer more than anyone else; Mitchell wrote lyrics like "I'm so hard to handle, I'm selfish, and I'm sad," and the sentiment was so vulnerable and brave that it didn't matter who the "best baby she'd ever had" actually was. Swift, by comparison, has built her career on strongly worded condemnations of others, with nary an incriminating self-disclosure in sight; on Speak Now, the closest she can come is admitting, on "Back in December," that she feels bad about breaking up with Taylor Lautner. The real draw of her songs is not their emotional intimacy, but the fun of pinning celebrity faces to specific songs.
Swift's strategy of building her career by tying her name to other attention-getting names goes back to her first single, "Tim McGraw." The president of Big Machine Records explained why they chose to name the song after the country superstar: "We put that out deliberately, so people would ask, who's this new artist with a song called 'Tim McGraw'?"
So? Babblers will never ever admit that Jake bearded with the chin.
Why care what they think or don't think?
We don't. Just remember that other Jake fans have problem with acknowledging reality, too.
Swift's choice to write about Lautner is similarly convenient. Their relationship was short, reportedly anywhere from three to six months in duration. But it garnered lots of positive publicity for them both, which they actively courted; both referenced it when appearing on Saturday Night Live. A single about him seems like a prudent financial investment; the story is a proven draw, so it's guaranteed promotion for her work. And, considering the boost that her previous album got from tying woman-scorned songs to the very bankable name of Joe Jonas (whose cross-marketing potential didn't exactly go untapped during their relationship) it's in line with previously established modes of revenue generation and marketing for the Taylor Swift brand.
One song from the new album, "Better Than Revenge," hangs on the lines "she's an actress / but she's better known for the things she does on the mattress." (Yes, there is already speculation on the identity of the actress in question.) Although Swift has done a great deal to distance her public image from mattresses, and the unspeakable things done thereupon, it's worth noting that she's a singer and actress, and she's better known for her involvement with various heartthrobs who are popular with her target demographic than she is for, say, her vocal range. The hype around the new song "Dear John," a nearly seven-minute-long odyssey through the seas of petulance, is based pretty much entirely on the idea that she might have slept with John Mayer. Swift cashes in on her associations with men even when they're not intimates. "Innocent," a power ballad about the Kanye West incident at last year's VMAs, devotes over five minutes to an interruption that clocked in at about thirty seconds. But it had built-in marketing opportunities: She got to debut it at the VMAs, thus assuring herself of another spotlight moment and reminding everyone of the sales-boostingcontroversy.
Which isn't to condemn Swift totally, or to say that her much-publicized dating life or much-published feelings are entirely artificial. It's just hard to believe that the most important emotional moments in Taylor Swift's life line up, so very closely, with the most important moments in her tabloid narrative. Yet her songs seize upon them unfailingly.
Early in her career, Swift embraced social media in order to build a fan base; now, she's tapped into one of the most troubling problems facing the music industry. The Internet has given us an unprecedented amount of access to personal information about celebrities, creating the very hunger for information it aims to satisfy, yet it's also decimated record sales. Swift, as others have noted, has become "her own TMZ." You can hear that she may have dated John Mayer anywhere, but for the real, true, unfiltered tell-all, buy Speak Now! Available wherever fine music and/or gossip is sold! Remember: If you pirate the album, you'll miss out on the top-secret coded messages in the CD booklet! It's ethically questionable (pity Joe Jonas, forced to take to his own MySpace blog to explain to an audience of angry, sheltered tweens that "maybe there were reasons for a breakup") but it sells.
Still, there is nothing like listening to Speak Now to make you appreciate Carly Simon. Speaking in 2005 about "You're So Vain," she said that she didn't see the point of naming the subject. "If people knew who it was to begin with," she said, "it might not have become a hit."
We don't. Just remember that other Jake fans have problem with acknowledging reality, too.
^^ Too? LMAO
As in, We know We're not dealing with reality.
3:03 PM please read posts. All I know for sure is that Jake is gay :)))))

New popular singers in US are masters of publicity and marketing, not music.

Dang, this 20 year old could teach even Reese a few lessons in famewhoring.
Yuck.
Word in Hollywood is that he's into dudes...but not completely. Adam said he was hooking up with a lot of girls, and he kind of is, but some of the girls are the actor/modely dudes he meets at these parts.
There are A LOT of bi/gay guys here in the industry.
*cough*

"These were definitely different rolls for them and the 20th Century Fox representative described the movie as the “sexiest” movie you’ll see this year."
Oh come on - people have written autobiographical relationship songs forever. What else is there to sing about but love and protest songs? Graham wrote about Joni too. :)
Cheap famewhores love people like 4:10 PM.
Please. This is more than just writing songs about relationships, as the writer of the article made pretty clear.
Advanced screenings blog: ... I really enjoyed this film and think girls are going to love it too. But guys don’t need to worry because there’s a lot in it for them too. Both sides have lots of eye candy (Jake Gyllenhaal for the girls and Anne Hathaway for the guys). The jokes go for both sides and both genders can get the guilty pleasure of enjoying the film. It’s a good date movie, it’s a great friends movie…it’s just a wonderful two hours of entertainment…check it out.
Don't you love how Matthew Fong made sure that boys and girls don't get confused? WTF?!
Dear Uh, Duh:
Any loyal B.V. enthusiast knows Toothy is a fan of both teams. We're just waiting for him to commit to one of his many, many relationship contracts.
It seems to me that Ted is not contradicting his earlier assertion that Toothy is gay, at all. He's simply pointing out that
his relationship "contracts" go both ways...bearding (women) and whatever kind of private commitment he has with Grey Goose. Ted's pretty specific about the words he chooses so I believe there is probably a reason he twice repeated the word "many". There is a duality to Toothy's existence. The image he wants all his fans to believe is true and the double life he lives in the closet. Pretty clear to me.
4:14, it's their opinion. And their way of selling.
Well, I read it as These ROMCOM's that most men hate or may only watch when it comes on cable will like it also because of......
Most men don't like Romcom, unless there is some Masculine hijinks going on or maybe naked women to watch.

Dear Ted:
Is it beyond the realm of possibility that Toothy might like boys and girls? As per your Blind Vices, he seems to fluctuate between the two a lot...

They spend so much time analyzing this crap. Sigh.
But the most ridiculous thing I have heard and there have been many, is this brouhaha over someone writing a song about an ex. You'd think noone had ever done it before in the history of humanity. It is D_U_M_B Dumb. As they said, it's been done before. You're So Vain, anyone? I still don't know who that is about.
As they said, it's been done before.
Yeah, right.
You can relax, no need to defend TS, Jake won't beard with her. lol
TOTAL BULLSHIT. Is that you Special K? Please give it a Rest.
Not Special K but you sure do love to lump everyone who has a valid point into the Oh My Godot camp. Must be because you're afraid of what they are saying over there. I've only been recently introduced to the Toothy story by a friend a few months back, and I already can recognize, between these two blogs, that there is one, maybe a few people who constantly trash the other site. Yet, when I'm reading their comments, I never see anyone taking cheap shots about comments over here. Doesn't take much to figure out that someone has either a personal vendetta with the OMG Blog Administrator or some issue with Jake being with one man. Frankly, I don't know whether Jake is in a long term relationship with Austin Nichols or not, but a few here seem to not like the possibility. If it's true, I happen to think it's kinda of romantic. Just my opinion.
^^or who
Could Tom Hardy Play Det. Harvey Bullock In The Dark Knight Rises?
I saw this, I think it sounds really good. There's not going to be a Riddler, tho. I wonder what this means for our JGL. Incidentally, you rarely hear a peep about his personal life, and I think that is really admirable. (((JGL)))
Any loyal B.V. enthusiast knows Toothy is a fan of both teams.
Being a "fan" can mean many things. No one denies that Toothy likes women and has bearded for years just to make sure the public thinks he's a player. The problem is, he prefers the boys in the locker room when it comes to satisfying his natural urges.
4:45 PM # 1- the problem is that Jake and Austin are rarely, and I'm being generous here, together. They're almost never in the same state. There are no indications that they are dating.

Yeah, I think it's kind of romantic also, especially if it were true and they if they came out would be great (if they were gay) but I think Jake is bi, just as Ted's BV stated from the beginning and J/A were friends and F***buddies until people started talking. Then Kaput, Just friends.
Nothing wrong with J/A being gay and a couple, I just don't believe it.

I agree
Being a fan of both teams is a pretty clear statement to me.
So is Ted saying that TT is with GG and BT. Or that TT is gayer than him.
Well this statement from Ted will have everyone in a conundrum for awhile. :(
^^^^
both teams = liking and having sex with men and women
(men and women)= both teams
But then the confidentiality agreement reference about relationship contracts? IDK
Just curious; is there any difference in being a fan of both teams, than to be batting for both teams?
Figurativley speaking, of course. :-)
But then the confidentiality agreement reference about relationship contracts? IDK
(If) and (when) he has sex with people (men or women) who he may not really know or just for hook-ups, they have to sign the conf. contracts if they go along with having sex with him.
I believe most HW famous people do this, not just gay men / people, but straight also.
^^Makes sense to me!
I don't believe for a second that Jake has sex with strippers or type of women he has to hide.

Someone should write to Ted and ask him whether TT is a spectator or a playah! ;)

Why would they do that?
Someone famous has to protect themselves from "enterprising" people. It doesn't mean they are strippers, hookers or the type of person one would have to hide. Wherever big $$$ are concerned, trust can't be counted upon. You see it all the time with famous and rich people being taken advantage of.

5:39 PM; Exactly my thought, that's why I asked. :-P

Sorry, I don't buy it, there is no need for that if don't have sex with prostitutes. BTW, Tiger didn't ask prostitutes to sign a paper.

I saw this, I think it sounds really good. There's not going to be a Riddler, tho. I wonder what this means for our JGL.
In my Gothamverse, JGL could be the young Joker, a prequel Joker. **Swoon**
Looking forward to hearing more about Tom's role too. Yay!
Any woman or man could, for a price, make up or embellish a story to the media.
What story? That some celebrity had sex? Big deal.
Apparently it is a very big deal for some.
It is a big deal for closeted gays and people who sleep with prostitutes.
And the gossip readers.
I don't believe for a second that Jake has sex with strippers or type of women he has to hide.
Well, we are all free to believe what we want to. He is a young man with needs I would think. If he wants to have sex with someone he likes and he's not in a committed relationship he could. Jake may not want self love **(Christine O'Donnell)** all the time. LOL. Also, he could just meet any woman or (man) who is not a stripper and have consenting sex. Contract or not. He is an adult.
I believe most HW famous people do this, not just gay men/people, but straight also.
******
Why would they do that?
They would or can do this because they don't want their fans, the public, the masses to know. Afterall it is their privacy and their business. You may not agree and think it's morally wrong, but to each his own, and, it is Done.
Do you think Steven Speilberg wouldn't have a stripper sign a conf. contract (If he did this) and let some Jane Wane put all his business in the streets?
Famous Women have been known to do this also.
I would say ask Charlie Sheen, but he's so lit-up most of the time he forgets all about the contracts.
You see the results don't you.
It's why the paps are always prowling.
A woman or man could accuse someone of rape, or claim a relationship that never existed, all kinds of things. I don't see where it makes any difference what profession he or she is in, even it's the world's oldest. ;)
^^ it has to be proven first.
And famous people who an opportunist has more to gain $$$ from could be accused easily and often if they did not protect themselves. They know this.
Tiger was Stupid!

Nonsense. Single celebrities have no reason to hide their heterosexual dates or lovers.
Nonsense. Single celebrities have no reason to hide their heterosexual dates or lovers.
^^^
that's if you assume that all the people they (are having sex with) are "lovers".
Charlie Sheen was in a NYC hotel with a "lover"?
It does not matter if the celeb is single or not, there is a whole industry that's selling "love for sale' and for anybody. And people with money do partake.
Just for one night, 2 nights, a week. Then there are the ones, you've seen them, the flawless girls and guys that's everybodys sex dream or fantasy.
Where do you think Tigers girls come from? All silicon blonde beautys or (bimbos) depends on how you feel about them.
A lot of celebrities don't need or want prostitutes to have sex.
Being a fan of both teams is a pretty clear statement to me.
Wait, I thought we weren't putting stock in Ted's answers. He's also made seemingly clear statements that Toothy is gay. Best not to take any of Ted's statements as "clear" lol.
But the most ridiculous thing I have heard and there have been many, is this brouhaha over someone writing a song about an ex. You'd think noone had ever done it before in the history of humanity. Give me a break. Everyone knows about You're So Vain and there isn't any comparison at all. Who else writes a song about every relationship, makes it clear exactly who they are talking about, and then publicizes it by talking to the press? That article wasn't written by a WFTer and it isn't about Jake. It was written by a music critic who is well aware that songs have been written about relationships and the writer clearly makes the distinction between what's been done before and what Taylor Swift is doing now.
It's not stricly the music critic.
For one thing, she's only 20 - how many relationships ending worthy of a song can she have to write about? It's a tempest over nothing.
Nothing? TS bearded and "dated" celebrities to get new material and publicity.
Here we go agaiiiiin . . .
8:30 PM, please read article posted by 2:57 PM.
You believe that Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner are straight and that they really dated TS? Gay or not, do a little research and you'll see that both "relationships" were just PR.
Here we go agaiiiiin . . .
Truth bothers you?
Nah, gay Jake bothers you :)
If Jake wants to date a 20 year old blonde, then why doesn't he date Jennifer Lawrence of "Winter's Bone?" Not only is she a beautiful blonde BUT she's VERY talented and gives an Oscar-caliber performance in "Winter's Bone." Looks like she's the next big thing.
Happy 5th Birthday to Matilda Ledger!

You're missing the point. WFTers didn't invent this criticism of her, it's out there and it's been out there and it's coming from people who don't give a crap about Jake or her phony "relationships," but do recognize tacky famewhoring for what it is and it's a legitimate criticism.
Jake's PR,
can you please organize interesting / provocative photo shoot for Jake? Thanks in advance!

What do you guys think, will the positive or negativ revs dominate?
Jake is too old for those types of photoshoots anymore, talk about looking foolish ad desperate.
He's almost 30, stop being fixed on when he was in his early 20's , it ain't healthy.
Don't you love how Matthew Fong made sure that boys and girls don't get confused? WTF?!
lol, I noticed that, too. I don't know anything about him, but he sounds like a teen-ager. He used the actual words "will have you rolling in the aisles" and then gives the line “you and your swinging dick will be my winning ticket" as an example of hilarious dialogue.
ropesofsilicon
um, I got a McAfee "potentially damaging" warning with the link.
There's no need for provocative photoshoots... Jake's naked in half of LAOD, you'll see enough there. He's past that point in his career where he needs to take his clothes off/pose provocatively, that's for newbies. Serious actors don't do it, unless it's for their 'art'.
