And why could Heath and "the other guy" not be friends after the film? It's ridiculous.

As for "the other guy". Maybe our Jakey-Poo will become a houshold name summer 2010? I wish him good luck with PoP.

* Filming the "tent scene."
One of the reasons that Brokeback Mountain is being called controversial is its same-sex kissing and love scenes. Were these difficult for Jake and Heath?

"We can't say that we weren't nervous about it," Heath says. "But once the first take was over, it's like, 'Okay. So what? It's kissing another human being. How are we going to finish this scene? Let's get on with it and let's get out of here."

Was it more awkward doing a love scene with a man than doing one with a woman?

On filming loves scenes with a woman, Jake says, "I think we approach it like a dance, you know? So you have to say, 'Okay, I'm going to move you here, I'm going to go here. I'm going to touch you here, then we're going to kiss. Then I'm going to lay you down.' And that's how it was with us. In [one of Brokeback Mountain's love scenes] it was like, 'Okay, I'm going to come up and we hug and we're going to look at each other. And Heath, you're going to pull me back and you're going to slam me into the wall and then I'm going to grab you and slam you into the wall.'

"There have been times when I've been working with women," Jake adds, "and they just said, 'Hey, I've faked it before. I can fake it again.'"

* How these stars are able to to feel uninhibited on camera
Oprah: When you play somebody gay in a movie, everybody wants to know why did he do that? Were you worried about any of that?

Heath: I think whether or not the subject is controversial is relative to the person you are. … I never found the subject to be controversial so I never went in there nervous.

Jake: I figure if we knew the response to the movie before we did it, I don't think either of us could have done it.

Heath: You have to pretend no one's ever going to see it in order to allow yourself to expose yourself and be vulnerable.

Jake: Especially the stuff that we do in the movie!

"We can't say that we weren't nervous about it," Heath says. "But once the first take was over, it's like, 'Okay. So what? It's kissing another human being.

So kissing was no big thing and no one dared to ask about filming tent scenes :)

Heath make a remark somewhere that "It's just kissing another human being, it's not like I'm kissing the butt of a mule." - I always LOL that he compared Jake to a mule's butt.

Looking back a few posts, re Papa G, I always hate it when posters choose to quote Cuntara as some kind of Nom de Plume on the life and times of the Gyllenhaal's. Authoritative she might sound on Papa Gyllenhaal but if there is this metaphorical asylum in which she likes him to dwell then she was in the very next room, with her food being brought in on the same tray.

Cantara is nuts, but we discussed Gyllenhaal gossip from much worse sources.

Jake Watch Prophecy Girl left this comment on Cantara's blog:

So it looks like everyone’s (least??) favorite celebrity father has decided, three years after he had the internet at his fingertips, to start a blog. Oh, you remember Stephen. You may not remember how much you used to love him, back in the pre-Babygate era, but I do, because I’ve written about it extensively in Chapter 2 of the thrilling rollercoaster ride that is I’m Stalking Jake!

I would tell you to go back to Jake Watch and check out some of our discussions on his poetry, just as a refresher, but for the protection of everyone involved, I’ve hidden the comments on most of those posts. Just know that even if you don’t remember it, there was a time when most of us thought Stephen Gyllenhaal was the motherfucking shit, and a fair number went so far as to say he was just as hot as (if not hotter than) that son of his.

It’s true. I documented it.

And now he’s blogging. I can only imagine how excited we would have been had he done this back in the day. I’m not sure about the reaction of any of you reading this now...but having just read all two weeks’ worth of entries in one go, I certainly can’t fault anyone for being at least mildly interested in what he has to say.

Stephen appears to be using his blog for three purposes:

1. To pimp more of his poetry.
2. To showcase self-shot YouTube videos (sometimes done in conjunction with point 1).
3. To wax emo about his life.

For a paternal type, he sure has a lot of ambiguous angst. I won’t even pretend to have any insight into what he's searching for, but he looks to be grappling with some heavy stuff on his road to self-discovery. Just today he wrote (spacing and punctuation original): “So it’s about two weeks since starting this thing, this website and, at least for me there’s beginning to energe [sic] some sense of what it’s about, it’s [sic] point, and perhaps in a funny way, the point of me ,the point of my existing (maybe this will prove true for some of you as well).”

Two weeks! And he's already tackling the meaning of life! And the meaning of all the rest of our lives, too! Oh, the SNARK I am dying to unleash...

But no. I think I’ll suppress my inner Draco for the time being and instead share some insight of my own. I see a lot of recurring patterns in the little that he’s written so far.

a) Stephen is entirely too wrapped up in himself.
b) Stephen is obsessed with getting laid.
c) When he asks, “What is the point in being alive even if nobody knows you’re doing it?” I have to wonder who he’s talking about. It’s obviously not Stephen.

Dear Stephen, we know you’re here. (Hence this blog entry.) I don't think that’s the problem.

I think the problem might lie in you not noticing the rest of us who are here with you.

But I wish you luck with the blogging, pal. You'd be amazed all the things you can get out in a blog that you couldn't say anywhere else...

In the internet news right now: a football (non-American football) player from Spain just keeled over from a heart attack. He was only 26. He was captain of the team and gorgeous and in shape and young. Only 26. RIP.

Who knows what will happen to any of us peons today or tomorrow but at least we're not wasting our best years or spending our lives being phonies for a PR image and bearding.

Anonymous said...

When I first read the post about Jake being in MV , I thought that Jake had a few days off from Reeke. But now that the Chin is with him, it's just a lame attempt to try a photo op. There are no paps, but pics do occasional make their way out. How wonderful for Reeke to visit where Jake grew up and has many friends. Wonder if Mommy, Maggie & Co are there? I still believe Maggie doesn't support bearding and Reese. That's why no pics with the Chin. But this is why I also think Reeke is hardcore, long term Reeking. Their time together has doubled and Jake has become a total leashed puppy. I do think they will announce engagement before POP promo starts to give it a boost and something for Jake to talk about besides his bad movie. Sorry so long.

Anonymous said...

Reeking time has doubled because Reese is out of LA and has nothing better to do than use Jake to promote her new movie and dull herself.

BTW, she did the same "favour" for Jake and PoP last summer. lol

IMO the best thing that can happen to Jake is that POP will flop, Nailed will never get released, Brothers will be a lot of hot air and any movies he does will fail miserably, so that Jake will eventually find himself on TV in a good solid role and a long-running series and be able to come out and lose the freakin beard. TV is far more progressive than HW movies in letting actors be out proud and gay.

It's called a Reestinfection. Starts really tiny somewhere dark and dank then multiplies and spreads and gets unbearably itchy and quite ugly. Cure is washing with an anti-Reest soap and applying a medicated salve twice a day for at least 3 weeks, and letting the damaged area get plenty of fresh air. Also helps to regularly consume white creamy liquids that contain good bacteria, to ward off any Reestinfections in the future.

If it is real then who cares if they marry? If Jake's upcoming films are uninteresting to the general public, even less will care about his personal life.
He'll be in a similar situation like Ryan Phillipe (sp?). If that's what he wants, more power to him! There are so many hot and far more interesting and better actors out there. If it weren't for the TT (stories, tales whatever) even some here would have stopped follwing him a long time ago.

^^Since I think Jake is gay or bi and Heath most likely experimented with guys. So, kissing a guy was probably nothing new.

Anonymous said...

Is family Gyllenhaal really that pathetic?

Yeah, I think they are. Look at Jake, he has been spending the entire summer following Reese around to NYC and movie set to movie set and just waiting around for her all day. How pathetic is that? He has nothing to do or other people to spend time with so he just hangs around waiting for Reese and babysitting her kids.

Anonymous said...

"Is family Gyllenhaal really that pathetic?"

Unfortunatley the answer to that question would seem to be a resounding yes.

Only Maggie seems to be able retain any shread of dignity.

Anonymous said...

Heath would disagree, he called the Gyllenhaals a "beautiful family" and Jake a nice guy.
I know most think Jake is "just" the celeb godfather, but it's still an honor and I kind of get why Heath chose him from Heath's POV. But it turned out now that many of the family members are pathetic and kinda selfish.

Anonymous said...

It seems Jake spent a lot of time together with H & M during promo time. The first present he gave to Matilda was a shirt with "I wish I knew how to quit spitting on you" on it. Supposedly he was very nice to Michelle, bringing her pillows on a flight together, complimenting her acting (that she gave the BEST performance in BBM) etc.

Now Jake has other priorities, like "reeking". I know some think he has a secret "private, private" life, but I doubt it. I think he doesn't see his friends as often as he used to and even though he's just the celeb godfather to ML, he doesn't seem to bother to see her, he's probably sending birthday cards though.

Jake seems to be a guy who's interests and public image are very important to him. I do think he's a nice guy, but also a bit on the egocentric side of life.

Nsomi and Reese are friends. Naomi was working on a script about Amelia earhardt with Reese name attached. Took too long to get greenlighted and Reese did WTL instead and Hilary Swank did the movie instead with a differnt writer.

They were also spotted together at several events involving the ACLU and the Children's defense fund.

'Brokeback Mountain' shirts star at Autry National Center museum's Imagination Gallery

The props integral to the movie starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal were tracked down and brought to the museum as part of a display on contemporary westerns

A basic plaid button-down intertwined over a simple blue denim shirt evoked more emotion from the reticent Ennis Del Mar than any words Heath Ledger could've spoken in "Brokeback Mountain." Ennis discovered the two lonely shirts hanging in a closet after the death of his lover Jack Twist, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Symbolic of their lifelong forbidden relationship is that Jack's denim was draped over Ennis' plaid as if to protect him. Ennis changed the shirts' positions in the emotional last scene of the film that finally reveals his true feelings.

Those two emblematic shirts worn by Ledger and Gyllenhaal that played such a pivotal role in the film are currently on display in the Autry National Center museum's Imagination Gallery, which is devoted to the western in popular culture.

Local collector Tom Gregory purchased the shirts three years ago in an EBay auction for charity for $101,000. He merely hung the shirts on the wall in his office until author Gregory Hinton called him last New Year's Eve.

"I was doing research on 'Night Rodeo,' my fifth novel about my dad, Kip [a Wyoming native and former editor of the Cody Enterprise], and wondered what happened to the shirts that were such an important prop in the film," Hinton said. He tracked down Gregory and pitched the idea to the Autry along with a Gay Rodeo Legacy Project, which evolved into a symposium, "Gay in the West: Reclaiming Our Country Heritage," that will address the urban/rural bias as well as other issues, tentatively scheduled for the fall.

"The shirts hold deep meaning for so many, especially those 50 and older who could relate to the anguish and isolation of Ennis," said Gregory, who thinks the display of the "Brokeback Mountain" shirts at the Autry underscores the need for gay men and women who leave rural communities to reclaim their heritage.

The Autry museum is known for exploring all people of the American West, and he thought it was the perfect museum to display the shirts. Jeffrey Richardson, assistant curator for film and popular culture at the Autry, got involved and was instrumental in accelerating the project and pulling it together in six months.

Gregory's only request in lending the shirts for display: that they always remain entwined. "They have remained that way since the film wrapped and will always remain that way under my watch," said Gregory, who is also a radio commentator and Broadway producer.

The shirts are part of a reinstallation of the Contemporary Westerns case that displays memorabilia and art from significant films since 1970. "The western genre has shifted significantly since the '70s to accommodate the issues in society," said Richardson of the many revisionist films that have kept the western alive, such as "Appaloosa," as well as parodies like "Blazing Saddles."

Is Anne Hathaway Really The Best Actress Under 30? said...

She is according to the folks at LoveFilm, who deem Hathaway the Streep of the under-30 set, noting that she's "has gone from strength to strength over the last 12 months." So who else made the list?

Well, Natalie Portman, naturally, as well as Keira Knightley, Michelle Williams, Ellen Page, and, uh, Megan Fox, whose inclusion on the list is based solely on the hopes that one day her acting skills will "round out the package." Charming. Suspiciously absent from the list: Emma Watson, America Ferrera, Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin, and basically anyone who isn't white, something the editors actually apologize for, noting that they "did consider Vanessa Hudgeons [sic]." Right.

NYTimes article about the brain-dead cinema of today:

"autionary economic tales from
this summer will prove useful in the future, when ambitions need to be corralled and egos held in check. Middle-aged actors and critically lauded directors look
like extravagances rather than sound investments.
Forty is the new dead.
Auteur is French for unemployed.

The box office numbers don’t lie, but they don’t tell the whole story either. The weekend grosses, widely guessed at on Thursday night and breathlessly reported by the middle of Sunday afternoon, record the quantity of tickets purchased, but they cannot register the quality of the experience.

The aggregate of receipts shows that a lot of people like going to the movies, but not necessarily that they like what they see.

Commercial success may represent the public’s embrace of a piece of creative work, or it may just represent the vindication of a marketing strategy. In bottom-line terms, this is a distinction without a difference. A movie that
people will go and see, almost as if they had no choice, is a safer business proposition than one they may have to bother thinking about.

In this respect “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” is exemplary. It brilliantly stymies reflection, thwarts argument, arrests intelligent response. ..it
has made nearly $400 million domestically.

There is nothing else to say. Any further discussion — say about whether it’s a good movie or not — sounds quaint, old-fashioned, passé."

I hope that's true just for summer movies.

the dumbing-down of America said...

Apparently unconnected items appeared within two days of each other in the Los Angeles Times, and together confirmed my fear that American movie-going is entering into a Dark Age. The first was in a blog by Patrick Goldstein, who said: "Film critics are in the same boat as evening news anchors -- their core audience is people 50 and over, and getting older by the day. You could hire Jessica Alba to read the evening news -- or review 'G.I. Joe' for that matter -- and younger audiences still wouldn't care." The other was in a report by John Horn that despite "The Hurt Locker's" impressive box office success, "younger moviegoers are not flocking to the film, which could limit its ticket sales."

The obvious implication is, younger moviegoers don't care about reviews and have missed the news that "The Hurt Locker" is the best American film of the summer. There is a more disturbing implication: word of mouth is not helping the film in that younger demographic. It has been Hollywood gospel for decades that advertising and marketing can help a film to open strongly, but moviegoers talking with each other are crucial to its continuing success. That has been Summit Entertainment's game plan for "The Hurt Locker," which opened in a few theaters and has steadily increased its cities, becoming a real success without ever "winning" a weekend or benefiting from an overkill marketing campaign.

Certainly most of those who see "The Hurt Locker" become enthusiastic advocates of the film; but apparently those younger viewers who have seen it haven't had much of an influence on their peers. While the success of the film continues to grow as it steadily increases its number of theaters, the majority of younger filmgoers are missing this boat. Why is that? They don't care about reviews, perhaps. They also resist a choice that is not in step with their peer group. Having joined the crowd at "Transformers," they're making their plans to see "G. I. Joe." Some may have heard about "The Hurt Locker," but simply lack the nerve to suggest a movie choice that involves a departure from groupthink.

Read about starsid33's Jake/Reese encounter. Poor gal.

i saw her, jake gyllenhall, and paul rudd in philly a few nights ago. they were having dinner at the restaurant i was. nobody was hounding them for autographs. but i happened to be leaving at the same time they did so i casually turned around at the door and asked for an autograph. reese just kept her head down and ignored me. she was walking so fast. but jake stopped and apologized and said "noo, i'm sorry, not right now" and paul rudd was just like "heyyy hows it going". haha it was unbelievable.

she has super soft blonde hair and porcelain skin. and she looks verrrrry thin (but still healthy). she was wearing an oversized button down blue shirt with white (or jeans?) shorts. she is realllly short though. and jake looked amaaaaazing in real life. he was scruffy yet soft. and wore his trademark hat. she's actually renting a house in the town i live in (which is a suburb of philly)...and there have been sightings of her and jake at the local Whole Foods!!!! hopefully i see them again and i can get a picture or autograph.

i knowwwww srsly!!!! she kept her head down which made jake less willing to stop and give me one. it was so annnnoying!

The Hurt Locker is an amazing film. It is far more entertaining than the average war film (e.g., Rendition). It is tense and exciting, and yet still manages to say a lot about what is going on in Iraq.

I do find it sad that younger people don't seem to care about movies like that. It wasn't like that when I was that age.

Adam Lambert Is Coming To America said...

Adam Lambert and the American Idols Live tour finally rolls into the tri-state area today, with all the attendant New York City media pit-stops. Adam performed acoustically for Good Morning America, then does a night in Atlantic City, two at Newark's Prudential Center and two more at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island.

For all you big city types breaking out in hives at the idea of sharing a row with screaming tweens and their cougar moms, here's why it's worth making the bridge and/or tunnel haul to one of those venues: America, it turns out, loves Adam Lambert. No, they really love him. Really really love him. At the show I saw last month at LA's Staples Center, and by all accounts of every stop in between through the South and Midwest, Lambert is the headliner of this tour in all but name (even winner Kris Allen said so).

You know the first time you went to a big Pride event, or a huge gay dance club, or, say, the Blonde Ambition tour? And you realized there were hundreds or thousands or maybe even a million other queers all around, everywhere you looked? Seeing Adam Lambert live made me feel like that, but flipped upside down and around a million times on a ridiculous roller coaster where nothing is what you expect. Being in a sports arena while a straight-up cross-section of mainstream America is screaming their fucking faces off for the queerest, kinkiest pop star since Madonna is a moment every 'mo should experience for themselves.

There were teenage girlfriends holding up a rainbow flag during the anthemic "Mad World," 8-year-old boys staring dreamily up at Adam masturbating his mic stand for "Whole Lotta Love" (no, that's not overstating the case) and jaded middle-aged industry dudes shaking their head in amazed and impressed disbelief. (Last month, I had dinner with my eightysomething Mormon grandmother, who gushed about Adam and demanded to know my expert opinion on how it was possible he hadn't won. If she's Adam's biggest fan, anyone's fair game.)

It's one thing to watch Idol at home every week, wondering how the hell Adam kept managing to advance in a "family-friendly" popularity contest. It is a whole other mad, mad world to hear 20,000 people explode with excitement every time he shimmies like a stripper while demanding the crowd "get up and dance, bitches!"

It's not entirely the Adam show: Anoop and Matt are doing their best to bring sexy back, and they both make a good stab at it. Allison attacks Pink, Janis, Heart and her "Slow Ride" duet with Adam with such attitude and aplomb that it's like a huge flashing pink warning to any teen diva-in-training that there's a new girl in town (I'm looking at you, Jordin Sparks).

And the actual headliner, winner Kris Allen, glides right into a much more traditional pop-rock set with almost Fred Astaire ease, given the wild show that immediately precedes him. "Ain't No Sunshine" is as cinematic as on the finale episode, the godawful single "No Boundaries" was quickly yanked in favor of a heartfelt take on the Killers' "All These Things That I've Done" and "Hey Jude" is as sweet and sincere as Kris' southern aw-shucks smile. If you haven't heard Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" enough this year -- it was one of the only songs, thanks to the cast of the new TV show Glee, that out-charted Kris or Allen during Idol season -- you'll love the dueling pianos ensemble finale.

If you can't make the trek, get a front row seat via the YouTube video at the top of the post.

Drom DL:

Why Are Gay Men So Bigoted?
I was attending my best friend's party for her sister and her family. Her sister is a very devout Christian but the church she attends is very open to gays.

So she tell me that they had a meet and greet for the gay members of the church and that she noticed that black gays and the white gays separated themselves.

Then she told me that one of the black gay church members went over to introduce himself to a small group of white gay members the group broke up and regrouped after he left. She was very confused. She hated seeing that in her church and wondered why gay men would reject other gay men due to color.

My answer was that lots of people are bigoted, whether in church or not, and that openess doesn't always mean the same thing to the every person. But she did raise a major question.

How can we as gay people ask the world to accept us as equals when we reject equality with each other due to color, or appearence? Does that mean as gay people we are always just 14 year old mean girls? Or are we just a reflection of the society as a whole?

Anonymous said...

My aunt just had a gay couple move into a house in her neighborhood about 6 months ago. One guy is white and the other guy is black. They are very friendly and helpful to everyone and no one including her, has blinked twice, at them being gay and interracial. Maybe it has more to do with individual personalities and friendliness vs. snobbiness than colors. Just saying.

I saw the American Idol tour in Newark last night, and that article nails it, and how I felt. We're repeatedly told you can't have a gay movie star or gay pop idol, and yet there I was watching a 15,000+, mostly female audience on their feet screaming for Adam like it was the second coming of Elvis or the Beatles. And believe me, it was all about the sex appeal. It truly was one of the most amazing cultural events I've witnessed first-hand: a hurtful, homophobic stereotype being blown to bits.

Not to mention Adam was fucking amazing, hot and sexy.

Just like Republicans, the old established power brokers are about 15 years behind current public sentiment. Cheers to Adam if he emerges as the one to make Gay OK.

During my latest trip to the local grocery, the manager informed me that I was no longer their lead celebrity shopper. I can't say I was surprised. It's really not that hard to outshine my not-so illustrious career - a TV commercial for a local radio station, QVC guest hosting and a not-yet (beginning to suspect never-to-be) released movie. I knew the day would come when my status would be usurped. But by who? Apparently, Jake Gyllenhaal and gal pal Reese Witherspoon have been hanging in my hood and needed some milk. By all accounts they were quite nice and posed for photos. The checkout guys will have something to talk about for months - maybe even years. Now I've got to up my game or find somewhere else to buy my bread.

Longtime lurker and non-poster here to say that Jake is gay, the Reese/Jake relationship is a fake, and it appalls me, to be honest. That's why I never post. Watching Jake Gyllenhaal at the moment is like watching a car crash.

Everyone who works in the industry knows he is as gay as a goose. Trust me on this one. PR would just love to have sites like this disappear, because they speak truth to power.

Don't give up. We - gay men who also work in the industry - need to read sites that hold Hollywood's hypocritical feet to the fire.

MICK THE MAN

MICK Jagger was pretty cocky as a young man, especially when his sexuality was questioned. In "Redeeming Features," out in November from Knopf, British designer Nicholas Haslam, a close friend of the rocker, recalls, "With his long hair, wide eyes and huge mouth, Mick looked faintly androgynous. But that was not the case at all. In a restaurant one night, the actor Anthony Steele and his buxom, boozy wife, Belinda Lee, were . . . taunting Mick about his looks, saying loudly and rudely, 'Is he a boy or a girl?' After bearing it for a bit, Mick got up . . . looked him in the eye, unzipped his narrow trousers, and slammed his [bleep] on the table. 'Now do you think I'm a girl?' he said."

Researcher: 1 to 21 Percent of Teens May Claim to be Gay

USA Today reports on a speech to the American Psychological Association by Cornell University's Ritch Savin-Williams, who says it's much harder to determine "who's gay" in culling study participants for psychology research on sexuality because teens classify themselves in much broader ways today:

"For example, estimates could range from as few as 1% of the population to as many as 21%, because many young people do not actually say they're gay, even though they talk about sexual encounters with same-sex partners or same-sex romantic attraction. In his presentation, Savin-Williams cited several studies on the way teens categorize their sexual preferences and behavior, to illustrate the difficulties researchers have in studying adolescent sexuality. Some describe themselves as 'mostly heterosexual.' He also explained that new research isn't finding some of the differences that have in the past suggested gay youth are more at risk for mental health problems than other teens. He cited one recent study, for example, that found no greater delinquency or risk for substance abuse among gay youth, despite reports about greater risk in earlier research. 'Not all gay youth are less healthy than heterosexuals, but there is a sub-population of same-sex oriented individuals who are accounting for nearly all the mental health differences between gays and straights,' he says."

Savin-Williams is the author of The New Gay Teenager.

Daniel Radcliffe supports LGBT youth helpline said...

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has given a major donation to a US anti-suicide helpline for LGBT teenagers.

The star has rarely been out of the pink press recently, having said gay rumours about himself are "awesome". He also strongly condemned homophobia.

The Trevor Project was founded in 1998 by three filmmakers whose film, 'Trevor,' a comedy/drama about a gay teenager who attempts suicide, received an Oscar in 2004. It works to prevent crises and suicides among LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and questioning) youth through school workshops, educational materials, online resources and advocacy, along with the Trevor helpline.

Trevor organisers say the free helpline has received hundreds of thousands of calls since it began and in the past year, calls have increased more than 300 per cent.

The amount of Radcliffe's donation has not been disclosed. In a statement, he said: "I am very pleased to begin my support of The Trevor Project, which saves lives every day through its critical work. It's extremely distressing to consider that in 2009 suicide is a top three killer of young people, and it's truly devastating to learn that LGBTQ youth are up to four times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers. I deeply hope my support can raise the organisation's visibility so even more despondent youth become aware of the Trevor helpline's highly trained counsellors and Trevor's many other resources. It's vitally important that young people understand they are not alone and, perhaps even more important, that their young lives have real value."

Charles Robbins, executive director and chief executive officer of the Trevor Project, said he was "incredibly grateful" to the 20-year-old actor. He added: "He is setting a meaningful example for millions of young people around the world by embracing diversity and demonstrating that he cares deeply about the well-being of LGBTQ youth."
