2008's Bits and Pieces

January 8, 2008

Dear Ted:
One of my favorite items last year was the rumor Toothy Tile and Grey Goose were hoping to start a fam. This would definitely end up being my favorite Hollywood kiddo — sorry, Jolie-Pitts. So, where does Baby Tile currently sit: on the back burner or in the oven?
Barbara

Dear Offspring Inquirer:
Does the frying pan work for you?

See, ol’ Tooth, our fave partner in sex-in-public crime is being just as brazen, only with words, not his crotch. The pretty boy (man, on occasion) is gleefully telling more than a few gossipy girls — which means boys, natch, in highly exaggerated fagola speak, but then, I’m sure you already knew that, hon-cakes — that he’s quite aware the hunt for his identity is on. And has been for sometime. Says he enjoys it, even. Who wouldn’t, really? Especially if you’re dead certain your identity will never be revealed. Yep, that’s right.

T2 says he’s havin’ such a fab gay ol’ experience of it all because he’s “sure,” as it’s been relayed to this columnist, that the true identity of Mr. Tile will never, ever be discussed by yours truly. Oh, really? Is that so?
***

August 5, 2008

Dear Ted:
Two questions: First, can you confirm any of the old Blind Vices that are already public knowledge? And second, is Sheila Muff-Driver from One Desperate-Diva Blind Vice Faye Dunaway?
Jill
Miami

Dear Seeing Spots:
Yes.
***

August 13, 2008

Dear Ted:
What describes Toothy Tiles's situation better: "Single Tile," "Mr. and Mr. Tile" or "Family Tile"? Please, could you include clues and hints more often about him? What happened to that great idea to dedicate one day a month to only Toothy questions?
Ashley
London

Dear Multiple Choice:
Family Tile. Don’t remember committing to one day a month trying to ferret out T.T.’s identity. Still, don’t think that’s enough for my taste.
***

August 26, 2008

Dear Ted:
Please don't be like Toothy himself when asked a tough question. Just give a simple answer. A yes or no will do. No beating around the bush or skirting the issue. Is there a Baby Tile?
—Tom, Mt. Laurel

Dear Gay Shooter:
Yes.
***

September 30, 2008

Dear Ted:
I called in sick today and said I was deficient in my Vitamin T—OK, that was cheesy, but I think I deserve for this question to be printed since I risked my livelihood over it! Have you and Mr. Tile ever done the nasty (prehubby, of course!)? I reread some entries and you two sure seemed a little flirty a couple of years ago. And, who is hotter, Toothy or his BF? Is Mario Lopez his lover?
—Thrasher

Dear Bedroom Boinked:
In order: No. Yes. Neither, I like men, not little beautiful boys who still retain a tad of privileged baby fat. No.
***

October 11, 2008

Dear Ted:
Would you answer the million-dollar question: Is Toothy Tile gay or bisexual? How about Gray Goose? What is the real nature of Toothy's relationship with his beard?
—Mia

Dear Tricky Tooth:
You mean the one on his face or the one on his publicist’s speed dial? Gay as my vocabulary, darling. Ditto on the real love in Toothy’s life.
***

December 12, 2008

I remember Toothy back from when he was getting it on in West Hollywood parking lots, for any cop to see. In fact one did see, but, of course, the Tooth got off, thanks to his powerful reps — sheesh, so predictable. But now comes word that Toothy's not only stepping out on the B.F. (unless this was done with his approval, perchance?), but he's doing it smartly, like, every other bigass, closeted dude in town does — contracts to sign, in hand.
***

December 19, 2008

Repeat Blind Vice offender Toothy has a former fling running her (yes, her) mouth around town about a drug-infested hookup with Mr. Tile. Do tell, babes! Apparently, T.T. banged said blabber to try to prove to himself—or more importantly, the powers that be (managers, publicists, the public) that he isn't gay. See, the more chicks he hooks, the farther back in the closet he goes; just how his handlers want it.

Dear Ted:
The only way Toothy Tile or any of the gay celebs could ever come out is when they learn they are about to be "outed" by the media. We will never see a celeb of Toothy's status willingly come out.
—Catman

Dear Positive Thinker:
Jeez, great way to get Tooth really cemented into the back of that closet, thanks a lot. But I disagree. I still say there's hope, even for Toothy.

Dear Ted:
I'm new to this Toothy Tile speculation, but my vote goes to James Marsden. Don't know why, just feels right. Maybe it's the teeth. Oh and that he's just so gay in 27 Dresses. "Bennie and the Jets"? Please.
—Rawsoniii

Dear Wrong Vice:
James ain't Mr. Tile, but he certainly is a bad boy in other ways.

Dear Ted:
You need to do a recount. There is no way Toothy Tile [coming out of the closet] won the Prop 88s! Happy New Year and I hope you had fun with your hubby over the holidays.
—Jen

Dear Florida:
Which one do you think should have won? Me keeping my mouth shut about Prop 8 and Mormonism? It was second only to Will Smith having to shut up about schtupping his wife so much. No joke.

Dear Ted:
What percentage of A-list actors would you say are gay or bi?
—Beck

Dear Mathlete:
The majority. Think about it: Who were the theater geeks when you went to high school?

CROWD HATER

ANNE Hathaway doesn't always act like such a good girl. Monday night, the star stopped by Tiffany for the "Bride Wars" premiere bash, but quickly ran off to party with more privacy. While Kristen Wig, Dina Lohan and Damien Fahey mingled about the jewelry mecca, Hathaway was spotted by one of our spies "smoking cigarettes and playing pool" at the Gramercy Park Hotel's Rose Bar. Harvey Weinstein was also there with Sean Penn and Josh Brolin, who "were surrounded by girls and loving every second of it," said our source.

Good question anon 8:30. I guess its the cutsey All American girl next store look. She really has only been in 2 movies which she has had any credible performance. Legally Blonde and Walk The Line were her only two good performances. Can you believe a horrible film like 4 christmases made over 100 million dollars?

Most likely that is what reeke is all about keeping her popular and hip. She is headed to her mid thirties and I think desperately wants to say young because of her own insecurity and non faith in her acting skills. She sure is not Meryl Streep. Reeke is working for her. Not sure what the hell its doing for Jake. The gay rumors will never go away for him

I don't know why you keep attacking people Dany. Jealous? Must be hard seeing WFT2 and OMG thrive and build communities, and realizing that the reason WFT fell apart was your indifference and nastiness. Unhappy that no one cares what you think and that we all didn't fold?

Can you all answer honestly, why are you still interested in Jake?
How many still think Jake is TT or that TT even exists?
I think Jake is an ok actor and very good looking. His personality bothers me though. He comes off fake, almost just like Reese.
I know a guy who claims he knows Jake, I don't know if I believe him, but he said he met Jake once and thought he was an egomaniac.
I think Jake is a very ambituous guy. I don't know the real nature of his relationship with Reese, but they seem arrogant, fake people to me. My interest regarding Jake is fading. I loved him after BBM and was interested in following TT, but now I think he's not interesting anymore, very overrated. I do think he will have a decent career though, but he isn't my cup of coffee anymore.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out 10:22.

Jake probably went back inside Peet's to make it look like he was returning the camera, but clearly he didn't or X17 wouldn't have said they stole it, and it is clear they are looking at something in the car.

AE: I'm guessing that, in terms of theater work, your being out has been a non-issue.

Pigs in Blankets for Toothy?

When we announced that Toothy Tile won our user-voted year-end awards, the Prop 88s (88 celebrity propositions we want passed, including T. Tile coming out of his very dusty closet), we suggested a lovely ceremony at the Beverly Hilton to make it official. You know, award him with an actual trophy instead of a trophy girlfriend, that sort of sensible thing.

We chose Oct. 11, National Coming Out Day, can't think why. Next thing you know, the senior catering manger from the damn Hilton emails us and wants to know if we really are booking the joint? I said I'd ask.

Toothy? Is it a date?

Reese and Jake—Shock!—Get Coffee

Following their Laker game lover's romp, Reese and Jake went out for a java date in L.A. Except this time, the couple decided to spice things up by going to Peet's instead of Starbucks. And maybe in lieu of a walk, they'll go for a stroll? Vanilla or mocha? The questions are endless.

2009 Critics Choice Awards Winners

The Critics have chosen and it seems like they are all in favor for “Slumdog Millionaire.” The low budget film pulled in 5 awards for Best Pircture, Best Director (Danny Boyle), Best Writer (Simon Beaufoy), Best Young Actress (Dev Patel) and Best Composer (A.R. Rahman). Holyscoop was on the red carpet and caught up with Simon Beaufoy on the film’s success. “We had no idea it was going to burst out into America like it has, it was a tiny little film, with subtitles, with no stars, not much of a budget, who could have predicted it?”

Here’s our prediction, Slumdog will most likely win an Oscar for “Best Picture,” since the Critics Choice Awards has historically predicted who will make the Academy Award short list.

Other winners of the night included Sean Penn for his portrayal of Harvey Milk in “Milk,” Heath Ledger for “Best Supporting Actor” for “The Dark Knight,” Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep who ended up being granted a tie for the Best Actress honor. Seems like the Critics were confused and couldn’t decide which way to sway.

The 14th Annual Critics Choice Awards kicked off the Award Show season bringing in Hollywood heavyweights Clint Eastwood, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie among others. Check out the complete list of the 2009 Critic’s Choice Awards Winners:

Best Picture:
“Slumdog Millionaire”

Best Director:
Danny Boyle, “Slumdog Millionaire”

Best Actor:
Sean Penn, “Milk”

Best Actress:
Meryl Streep, “Doubt” & Anne Hathaway, “Rachel Getting Married” (tie)

Best Supporting Actor:
Heath Ledger, “The Dark Knight”

Best Supporting Actress:
Kate Winslet, “The Reader”

Best Writer:
Simon Beaufoy, “Slumdog Millionaire”

Best Foreign Language Film:
“Waltz With Bashir”

Best Animated Film:
“WALL-E”

Best Documentary:
“Man On Wire”

Best Acting Ensemble:
“Milk”

Best Young Actor/Actress:

Best Comedy Movie:
“Tropic Thunder”

Anne Hathaway Takes Obama to Task! Go Anne!

Anne Hathaway was a stunner last night at the Palm Springs Film Fest—no wonder new clandestine boy-toy Adam Shulman came out to support her—but the beauty also has some brains, par-tick about Barack.

"I expect [Obama] to explain that choice of Rick Warren," says Anne. "I don't get it. All my friends and I were trying to figure it out, but we just can't. So I'd love that. Other than that, I expect nothing but the best" from the prez-elect.

Anne's got a lot of time on her hands to get into politics—the usually nonstop working gal tells us she's currently "unemployed...no projects lined up." Damn, is the economy really affecting even the rich 'n' glam? We're in more trouble than we thought.

Tho we're fairly certain the Golden Globe and potential Oscar nominee is gonna be OK. "From your mouth to God's ears!" she exclaims.

And oh yeah, the brunette babe spent the dorkiest holiday ever, check the clip above to find out just how lame it was. Jeez, is Hathaway running just a little too far in the other direction from hanging out with mobsters? You decide, babes. You always do.

SAM STAYS HOME

LINDSAY Lohan left her constant companion Samantha Ronson at home the other night to hang with Sean Penn. He and Lohan went to Nobu in West Hollywood, reports Celebuzz.com. Later, Page Six sources said the pair - who were spotted together all over Manhattan last month - went to newly reopened club Guy's. Ronson and Lohan have been fighting for weeks, and as one tipster told us, "Sam broke up with Lindsay but she is completely in denial about it."

Fans' Golden Globes salute

Director Christopher Nolan acceped the best supporting actor award awarded to Heath Ledger for his role in “The Dark Knight “ at the 14th Annual Critics' Choice Awards. Will he be accepting a Globe?

Heath Ledger is the fan favorite to win a posthumous Golden Globe.

The late star, who died of a prescription drug overdose last year in his SoHo apartment, is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his powerful performance as Batman's nemesis in "The Dark Knight." And if fans who voted in an online poll were deciding who's going to win this Sunday night, he'd get a Globe hands down. Moviefone.com asked its users to name their picks, and nearly 500,000 chose Ledger, who was 28, by a landslide.

"I think you're going to see that repeated throughout the award season," said Moviefone Editor-in-Chief Scott Robson. "He is casting a big shadow over all the award shows. When he died last year, our traffic [on the Web site] went through the roof."

According to the poll, actors Brad Pitt and Meryl Streep should clean up at the award ceremony run by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which honors both movies and television. Online voters gave Streep, 59, Best Actress in a Drama honors for "Doubt" and also chose her for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her performance in "Mamma Mia!" The movie was also picked as Best Picture - Musical or Comedy. "Meryl Streep is one of those actresses that even casual fans agree is just about the best in the business," Robson said.

Pitt, 45, was chosen as Best Actor in a Drama for his role in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." The movie also got the nod for Best Picture - Drama.

In television, "The Office" barely edged out "30 Rock" for Best TV Musical or Comedy. But in the drama category, voters picked "House" over the critically acclaimed series "Mad Men." "It's more of a fan list," explained Robson.

Kate Winslet was chosen for Best Supporting Actress for "The Reader," and Dustin Hoffman got the nod for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for "Last Chance Harvey." In the Best Actor category in a TV drama, Hugh Laurie of "House" and Mariska Hargitay of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" took top honors.

The Golden Globes airs live on NBC at 8p.m. on Sunday.

Jake Gyllenhaal is apparently a tough guy now

Remember when Jake Gyllenhaal would always play the role of the wistful outcast teenager who mumbled all his lines? Well, somebody just sold that kid some steroids. I’m not about to point any fingers here, but if Reese Witherspoon doesn’t fit the M.O. of a drug dealer, then I just gave the cops a really bad tip. And might’ve told them her chin was a deadly weapon.

I’m going to Google non-extradition countries now.

I'm a little skeptical of these. Look's like a director is telling Reese "Act flirty!" and they've made a few corrections from the B-day pics. Not quite so obviously in the front window this time. Jake is just there as Best Supporting Actor, as usual.

Anonymous said...

They can't seem to duplicate that serene quality of the Lakers I pics. Maybe Jake is older and wiser now, who knows, but something isn't the same - either you can't manufacture real feelings, or it's not the same. They are doing all the right things, but something is missing. I'm probably way off, but usually my intuition is spot on.

Reese and Carrie Do It for Themselves!

At the People's Choice do, Reese Witherspoon and Carrie Underwood both made statements about who they want to see more of in their lives—the former far more directly than the latter.

First, Reese showed up, sans Jake, to receive the Fave Movie Star award. Guess all those cutesy comedies (and overly photographed coffee dates with Jake) came in handy. But jeez, couldn't Jake have been awarded the paparazzi privilege of sharing Reese's limelight, since he's afforded her the same photo-op sitch for all these past months? Seems awfully odd.

Regardless, since the whole theme of the night seemed to be "Yes We Can," à la Obama, we simply wanted to know Reesie's expectations of the prez-elect. (We've been asking many celebs this same question.)

Too bad her publicist got in the way. "Oh no way! We will not talk about one thing except what is going on at the award show this moment!"

Sorry, we just assumed R.W. was a full-grown woman with thoughts and opinions of her own.

Razor-sharp switch, instead to: "Who are you excited to see tonight?"

"Carrie Underwood, she always sings her heart out and gives it her all. I just think she's awesome!" Interesting, as we asked Reese's gal crush Carrie about her own girl-on-girl matchup:

Specifically, we inquired if Underwood was planning on collaborating with that other blond country crooner Taylor Swift? "Not to my knowledge," dismissed Car about a possible duet, tho she also said, "Nobody has told me if I am!"

Wow, are you that overmanaged? "Our recording schedules are on different time frames. It happens a lot with people you're friends with or would like to record with. It's really hard to get together with anybody and do anything."

Sure, could be scheduling—or maybe the Idol alum's afraid of the competition? Or maybe it has something to do with Swifty admitting that Underwood ex Chace Crawford is her celeb crush. Such awful thoughts we put out there, forgive us, please!

Anonymous said...

What's interesting about these latest pics is that the focus is literally squarely on Reese - Jake is partially cut off in them? It's more about promoting Reese than Jake. That's why he didn't accompany her to the PCAs, it might have taken the focus off her?

Jake is just another Ryan Phillippe. Nobody really cares about him apart from his connection to the dazzling Reese. The only reason they even get any hits on blogs is because there's still the ongoing war about Jake's sexuality. Without that, they probably wouldn't get more than a dozen hits on anything posted about them. If possible, he seems even more boring than Ryan.

Low Res Big 2009 Preview, Part 2: The Movies

This is a veeeery early look at the 2009 movie crop. Almost everything is subject to change, especially my level of anticipation. But as of right now, here's what looks good in the year ahead. [P.S.: Look for another post of even more movie-related miscellania to look forward to later this week.]

The 10 Most Anticipated Movies in '09

01 - Taking Woodstock (Ang Lee)
If I'm going to give my attention to yet another film about the 1960s counterculture, it damn well better be an Ang Lee film with a gay protagonist and an intriguing cast without any real A-list star. Done. I love the idea of unproven Demetri Martin in the lead role, and these days it's tough to beat Emile Hirsch, Liev Schrieber, Paul Dano, Imelda Staunton, and Kelli Garner in supporting roles.

02 - Inglorious Basterds (Quentin Tarantino)

03 - Shutter Island (Martin Scorsese)
It's funny, because I don't really consider myself a total Scorsese freak. But his movies always seem incredibly appealing from the get-go. Probably because they attract such sparkling casts, and this one is no different: Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Emily Mortimer, Michelle Williams, Patricia Clarkson, Max von Sydow, Jackie Earle Haley...it's astounding. The story is a Dennis Lehane adaptation surrounding a missing person investigation at a mental hospital in the 1950s...whatever, really. Clint Eastwood somewhat bungled Lehane's Mystic River. Ben Affleck did a better job with Gone Baby Gone. Does anyone doubt Scorsese has the best chance to emerge with the best Lehane adaptation of the bunch?

04 - Watchmen (Zack Snyder)

05 - The Fantastic Mr. Fox (Wes Anderson)

06 - The Fighter (Darren Aronofsky)

07 - Away We Go (Sam Mendes)
It's true, I really didn’t care for Mendes's Revolutionary Road. But he's still quite a good filmmaker, and I like the idea of this movie as a change of pace for him. John Kraskinski and Maya Rudolph star as a young couple traveling across the country, looking for a place to start a family. The supporting cast is trememdous (Maggie Gyllenhaal, Allison Janney, Jeff Daniels, Paul Schnieder, Catherine O'Hara, Melanie Lynskey, Jim Gaffigan, Cheryl Hines), but I'm hoping this is the movie where Rudolph announces her presence as an actress to be reckoned with.

08 - This Side of the Truth (Ricky Gervais)

09 - Nine (Rob Marshall)

10 - Brothers (Jim Sheridan)
I've heard good things about the Danish film upon which this is based, and you can't go wrong with Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman. Throw in Tobey Maguire, and this story about a solider (Maguire) who goes missing in war and his brother (Jake) who ends up "comforting" his wife (Portman). Sexy times had by all! Well, maybe not Tobey's character.

Low Res Big 2009 Preview, Part 4: Even More Movies

* Performances to Watch

Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman, Tobey Maguire (Brothers): Mentioned this in the Top Ten; it's a trio of the best actors of their generation getting good dramatic material.

Jeff Bridges, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Colin Farrell (Crazy Heart): Great mix of actors I love, or want to love (...Colin). And hey, this gives Bridges and Gyllenhaal a chance to come back from their crappy performances in 2008 summer blockbusters.

James Franco - Howl: This would be the Allen Ginsberg bio-pic, which means, yes, Franco's going queer again. He's also got a hell of a supporting cast to play off of (Paul Rudd, Mary-Louise Parker, David Strathairn).

* The Accursed Ones
Nailed (David O. Russell)
Margaret (Kenneth Lonergan)
Spring Breakdown (Ryan Shiraki)
The Brothers Bloom (Rian Johnson)

I'm not even sure if Nailed is still coming out, with all the stops and starts of production. It's probably David O. Russell's big karmic payback for being such an a-hole, but I've loved his movies (and it stars Jake Gyllenhaal, James Marsden, and Catherine Keener), so if it makes it to a screen, anywhere, I'm in. Bloom got pushed back to May, from like three different '08 release dates, so lord only knows if Rian Johnson's Brick follow-up will open on schedule. If I had to guess, I'd day that Spring Breakdown will end up getting released direct to DVD, but it's a shame that an Amy Poehler, Parker Posey, Rachel Dratch comedy won't get its due. As for Margaret...well, I'm no longer fool enough to think we're ever going to see Kenneth Lonergan's loooooong-finished follow-up to You Can Count on Me. Not even with a cast full of Matt Damon, Mark Ruffalo, Anna Paquin, Matthew Broderick, Olivia Thirlby, Allison Janney, and Rosemarie DeWitt. I've even given up seeing it on DVD. I just figure I shouldn't let another year go by without mentioning that it's out there, on a shelf, unseen. At least some things will be unchanged.

Watching Access Hollywood, the President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association says he believes Heath's dad is making plans to attend the awards show. So looks like it'll be Kim Ledger accepting.

Go Papa Ledger! Do your boy proud!

Anonymous said...

That's great!! I bet Heath is definitely going to win because there is no way Mr. Ledger is going to travel ALL the way from Australia to LA only for his son to lose. I bet someone representing him (or maybe Warner Bros?) called the GG and said that the father wanted to attend and accept the award on his son's behalf but needed to know if Heath was going to win (they know who the winners are beforehand-trust me on this). Generally, the awards people NEVER divulge who the winners are but in this case, I could see them breaking the rule.

Anne Hathaway Against Rick Warren, But Won't Turn Back On Him at Inauguration

...
Hathaway is also proving to be incredibly articulate, and, as the year passed, politicized in a way that puts her in the legacy of Jane Fonda and Susan Sarandon. She speaks her mind about issues she feels passionately about.

One of them is Barack Obama—whom she backed—and his choice of Rick Warren as the Obama Inauguration’s clergy of choice.

“I am against it,” Hathaway told me at the after party last night amid champagne toasts to her, to Streep, and to her “Rachel” co-star Rosemarie Dewitt. “My older brother is gay, and so its a family issue for me. My father is coming with me to the Inauguration. At first we discussed not going, and then we thought we’d just turn our backs when he [Warren] speaks. But we didn’t want to be disrespectful. So we’re going to wear ribbons protesting his appearance.”

So she’s outspoken, and polite. That’s a combination you can’t beat.

Truth, Lies & Ted: Reese and Jake Do Dull So Well!

Are Nick Lachey and Jeremy Piven playing dirty? How are the Travoltas coping with their terrible tragedy? And when the ef are Reese and Jake ever gonna let loose and start acting like a normal couple in public? Find out in Truth, Lies & Ted!

Truth, Lies & Ted

Anonymous said...

Valid points. Oh yes, I think he's TT and I think Ted's been pretty right all along and that Jake's management spend a lot of time out on the net quashing sites like these and telling people they don't.

I don't dislike Jake as an actor and he has ambition and drive to do what he wants but I've never been convinced he's on the right path anyway. I think he sticks at acting because he thinks it's all he can do and he tries to prove himself too hard at everything, from having the perfect girlfriend and getting the public reaction he wants to getting roles that will make him successul rather than respected or that are really interesting.

I also believe he is quite diva-ish, nice in part, but petty at times and not averse to letting himself be led down the easiest path and somewhat ruthless, maybe he just knows how to put on a kind face and a good front. I am sure he's fine with the close people around him but I've heard so many asshole stories about him I can't help thinking he's a bit queeny and used to getting his own way as well.

Verdict: okay actor, some promise but leaning toward mediocre these days (his looks are what carry him through), imo will live in fantasy public relations happyland until his popularity fades or possibly forever if he stays in acting - because it's easier and requires less explanation. May change direction after his star wanes.

I'd love to see Heath and Anne win and show Jake what being a great and a respected actor is, instead of being a tabloid whore, and...and... and...*loses her temper*

And maybe to remind him that he, too, used to be in great movies but when you hook up with Legally Blonde, what can you expect?

I know what you mean, Reese isn't the type of woman I would have envisioned him ending up with, if the rumors are true. I do like her, but it may be a bit to saccharine for me at times, and it makes me think that he may share certain of those personality traits, like annoying perkiness, and I hate to think of him as Mr. America's Sweetheart - I like to think of him as having a bit of an edge. I can't ever see Reese as edgy. Obviously, this hookup even if it is real, is meant to make him more appealing to mainstream audiences. Plus, it makes me think he's a bit on the shallow side. If it is a bearding arrangement and he's hiding his real life, I'm not crazy about that either, although it may be part of the job for actors of any sexual orientation - much like Jen and whoever. :(

Reese is in the saccharine mode all the time, but from time to time she slips and shows her real, arrogant and bitchy personality.

IMO, Anne and Michelle are better actresses than Natalie. She's overrated in my opinion. Her best role was in The Professional.
Anne H. combines talent with charisma. I predict a good future.
Michelle is a really good actress (very natural, very believable), she probably won't ever be a super star, but she'll have some good performances in the near future.

I think so too - superstardom is overrated - when it gets to the point where all you can see the "star" and not the character in a film, no matter what character, then you've become too big IMO. I like when an actor can totally become the character.

Anne Hathaway interview:

There was a time when she didn’t think she was an actress, period. Then Ang Lee cast her in “Brokeback Mountain,” to play the wife of Jake Gyllenhaal’s closeted cowboy, Jack Twist.

“I had just about given up on myself as an actress when it came along,” she said. “I just didn’t think I was any good, and felt lost. I didn’t know how to communicate with people. And then to be cast as a character who had nothing to do with who I was, and do it in the company of people like Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams and not stick out like a sore thumb was huge.”

When it was screened at the Venice Film Festival for the first time, she ran out of the theater before her first scene. “The movie was so beautiful, so perfect, I thought I would ruin it, so I left. I came back just in time to see a scene where my breasts were on screen, so that was special,” she said with a smile.

Something must drive them, and I hope it's the art. This is the second time I've read something like this, Nicole Kidman said it about her performance in Australia too, and she was great in it. Australia was not the worst film out there, despite the rags. I really liked it. The rags liked 4Cs.

True. If SI is well received and her performance good, there's hope she'll get attenion for it.
She was overlooked for Wendy and Lucy. She was just as good as the other actresses who got attention from the Globes, maybe even better than some of them. I don't know why that is.

Anonymous said...

Firstly it's because you're biased toward Michelle. Secondly, the studio that released Wendy and Lucy probably didn't have the budget to push her for awards. She'll probably fare much better at the Independent Spirit Awards. That movie and her role just aren't Golden Globe or Oscar contenders.

TMZ's Saturday morning story on Jake running yesterday was called "Jake Gyllenhaal Is Totally Bi ... ceps" then changed about 3 hours later to "Jake Gyllenhaal -- Ripped For Her Pleasure

New title is much better:

1. We don't want to confuse the fangirls, Jake can be only straight.
2. With the new title it's clear that everything Jake does is because and for Reese, we don't need gossip posts just about Jake.

Anonymous said...

He is making a fool of himself with this woman. :(

Some say they need each other for image and career. Alright, maybe non internet fans are now convinced he's straight, but he's only known as her boyfriend.
His career will probably be similar to Clooneys, nothing spectacular, but very solid. There'll be some good, some mediocre, some bad movies along the way. It would be the same with or w/o Reese.
I think they are together. That Jake thought he scored big, dating Oscar winner RW. IDK if he still thinks the same.

"His career will probably be similar to Clooneys, nothing spectacular, but very solid."

??? I'd say Clooney's career is pretty stellar. He's taken off since "Syriana". I wouldn't say he's one of the best actors out there, but he's one of the few who can do both popcorn fare like the Oceans series and direct Oscarworthy flicks like, "Good Night and Good Luck." Plus, he's a household name. ER sealed that. He was considered the hunkiest of the hunks for years, even after the Batman misstep.

Whatever "together" means - doesnt mean much, in my view.

LH: You were a kid when you started working.

LL: I wanted to be a movie star. But movie stars are not what they used to be. When I was a kid, I thought movie stars were women and men who were in these great films that we still look at now. But I don't think there are too many films coming out these days that we're going to look at in the future and say, "This is one of the great ones." Like, what is the great film that I will tell my children about? I'm still going to tell them about the old films, the Hitchcock films. And people my age don't even know who those people are. I can't even have a conversation with most people of my generation about that, because they'd be like, "Okay, she's a freak. Something's wrong with her." And the worst part is, in terms of what people see of me, I have become this girl who just loves to be photographed, doesn't know how to focus, doesn't know how to work on set, just loves the attention, knows how to go out at night, knows how to party. And you know what? I was 20 years old. I never went to college. And I lived maybe six months out of my life like that, doing something wrong, and then I stopped. God forbid I should have ever learned my lesson. But at this point it's so hard for people to even believe that there was a lesson to be learned at all, because they just think I'm wrong. All these people think I'm never going to be right, because it's more interesting to fabricate this other girl. Who wants to read a tabloid story about a girl who is doing well?

LH: Or a girl who takes her responsibilities seriously.

LL: I mean, it's this business. Heath Ledger once said something about this to me. He said: "It's build you up to knock you down, and that's all it is. And you just have to see if you can stand through it." And it is like that, if you put yourself in this situation. I was young, so maybe I did . . . I always wanted to take the blame. I've always been apologetic for other people's faults.

^ Anon 5:32am, Interesting take on Jake. I wouldn't stray too far away from your assumption. At least your comment seem to be one of the more thought provoking ones instead of the usual ones. Can't help but ask, doesn't most actors / actress (celebs.) act like this. Put on a good face for the public or cameras, but will protect their interest at all cost? Have read so much about more prominant celebs. from the past and current who are not young HW stars but have been around, and they were considered ruthless when it came to them protecting who they are proceived, what they want, and of course, their image. Also read most, but not all know that you have but so much time before your star has burned out and that HW will chew you up and spit you out quickly if you do not have the right people in your corner or fight for yourself. I don't see the differecne that Jake is doing than other or most HW actors. Now of course, Jake has moved from the indie star with that happy go lucky style that most fans including fangirl and boys like, but in the real world or HW, this does not last. Whatever star begans to realize that HW is a cut throat BUSINESS, they wise up and sometimes what you see may not be very good for the FANS

Anonymous said...

^ would also like to say, the fan that follows a celebrity constantly, it will only be a matter of time before things get ugly or there is some fallout. Just think of the true diehard and obsessed B.
