Gyllenspoon-Fed Merde

October 22, 2008

Dear Ted:
What's this you said in the last Truth, Lies & Ted about my favorite actor of all time, Paul Newman? You were talking about what a shame it would be if sham couple Jake and Reese tried to make like a "modern-day Paul and Joanne." I'll still love him anyway, but tell me one of H'wood's greatest love stories ain't a sham! Love you and your bitchin' bitchiness.
—Lauren, Chicago

Dear Newman's Own Fan:
No fakery we know of betwixt Paul and his longtime sweetie. Meant it would be heresy if J&R played house like those two, 'cause they ain't nothing like the real thing.

Dear Ted:
Are Reese and Jake the new TomKat? I think robot-boyfriend Jake is the new Katie.
—Gray

Dear GyllenKat:
I think they're both robots.

Morning Piss: Gyllenspoon-Fed Merde

J'adore Reese and Jake. Those sweethearts are two of the most talented, adorable and luscious babes to hit T-town in some time.

Don't agree?

Think Reese is just a pixie-ish little waif with pale sex appeal? Think again. And if you consider Jake all boyish 'n' bashful brooding, no real outward he-man stuff goin' down, think again on that score, as well. R 'n' J are both terrifically not of what you see in real life.

And this whole aw-shucks romance they've got going down is so not how both types really are — why in the world the public is lapping it up, hook, line and photo-op, is beyond me.

Just look at their pics together, everybody! They act like bro 'n' sis (and not even particularly close ones, at that). These babes have movies and careers and agendas to sell, oldest story in the world. Jen and Vince, anyone?

Ms. W is the craftiest broad alive; she's teaching J.G. spectacularly well. Just ask Ryan Phillippe if you don't believe this to be a high probability. But on the other hand, if this sorta white-bread, milquetoast romance is what you need to get your fantasy on every morning, then, dears, go right ahead, be my limp guest.

I just prefer my Awful readers to be fully informed consumers, that's all.

  1. Spacey Speaks Out on Marriage Equality (Without the Obnoxious "BTW I'm Gay" Speech)

While attending Petra Nemcova’s 2008 Happy Hearts Gala, where he was auctioning off a date with himself, Kevin Spacey spoke out on Prop 8, telling a reporter "there’s no doubt that election night was a bittersweet night. But in some ways, these kinds of setbacks allow for a bigger fight, more challenges, and eventually we’re going to get it right."

Spacey, a member of the Anderson-Cooper-Club-for-Men-Who Won't-Comment-on-Their-Sexuality-Even-After-It's Blindingly-Obvious-to-Everyone did not use the occasion, as Wanda Sykes did on Saturday, to talk about his own personal sexuality, which has, as of late, included publicly spanking young men while on vacation. Though when asked about Elton John's assertion that civil unions ought to do, Spacey replied:

"Well, I haven’t heard what Elton has said about it, and I don’t really know the particular laws in London with respect to whether they just have civil unions or…Look, I think at the end of the day, if people are given rights, and the same basic rights that any individual is given, then we are in fact honoring the Constitution of the United States. Anything less than that is unfair."

NO ROOM FOR FOOD AT 'MILK'

THE Cinema Society/Details magazine party for "Milk" at the Bowery Hotel was so packed, some guests had to plop down on the floor Indian-style to eat. But Diane von Furstenberg, noting the lack of seats, invited Barry Diller, Valentino Garavani and Marisa Berenson back to her place for a meal prepared by her private chef. Sean Penn, Liev Schreiber and a very pregnant Naomi Watts huddled in a corner, while David Blaine did card tricks for Emile Hirsch, James Franco and a gaggle of cigarette-smoking girls. Marc Jacobs arrived with boyfriend Lorenzo Martone, while "Gossip Girl" actress Taylor Momsen came with her mom, but spent much time chatting with Chace Crawford. And Mickey Rourke had the nerve to show up to celebrate the film about slain gay politician Harvey Milk despite having had to apologize this month for calling a reporter a "faggot."

Prop. 8 gay marriage ban goes to Supreme Court

Reporting from Los Angeles and San Francisco Jessica Garrison -- The California Supreme Court voted 6 to 1 on Wednesday to review legal challenges to Proposition 8, the voter initiative that restored a ban on same-sex marriage, but refused to permit gay weddings to resume pending a final decision.

The court may hold a hearing on the lawsuits as early as March, a timetable that scholars said was swift considering the complexity and importance of the legal issues. The court's action, taken during a closed conference, suggested that the court wants to resolve all of the legal issues surrounding Proposition 8, including the fate of existing gay marriages, in a single ruling. It also indicated that at least one of the court's seven members, Justice Carlos R. Moreno, may be leaning in favor of overturning the measure. Moreno, who joined the state high court's 4-3 ruling in May to strike down a state ban on same-sex marriage, was the only justice to support granting a stay of the proposition.

In a move that puzzled some legal analysts, Justice Joyce L. Kennard, a generally reliable supporter of gay rights, voted to deny review of the Proposition 8 challenges. The court gave no indication of her reasons but said she was willing to hear a separate case on the validity of existing gay marriages. Some analysts said the timeline for a hearing in the spring bodes well for the challengers, while others said it indicated nothing about the court's leanings.

"If the justices were really leaning towards upholding Prop. 8, and that was clear, they would have wanted to do it as quickly as possible and put the issue to rest," said UCLA law professor Brad Sears, an expert on sexual orientation law. He said the delay could indicate that the justices were divided and needed time to resolve the issues.

UC Berkeley law professor Goodwin Liu said the court's refusal to put Proposition 8 on hold pending a ruling did not suggest that the court would eventually uphold the measure. "A stay is an extraordinary measure," he said. Lawyers pressing the legal challenges praised the court and also refused to draw inferences from the court order.

Shannon Price Minter, a lawyer for the National Center for Lesbian Rights, one of the litigants, expressed gratitude for the "extremely fast" time- table and disappointment that the court did not permit same-sex marriages to resume pending a final ruling. "We are concerned that there may be some couples who will never be able to marry because of this because of death or illness," Minter said. Asked about Kennard's vote to refuse to hear the challenges, Minter said: "I am neither worried nor complacent. I just feel like with all of them we have our work cut out to convince them. There is no telling where any of them stand."

The campaign for Proposition 8 also praised the court's action, which granted the campaign the right to argue in favor of the measure. "We see today as a grand slam," said Andy Pugno, general counsel of Protect Marriage.com. "Everything we asked for was granted." He said Kennard's vote "seemed to indicate that she thought the lawsuits had . . . little merit."

California Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown, whose office also will defend Proposition 8, called the court's decision to review the cases "welcome news." "The matter of Proposition 8 should be resolved thoughtfully and without delay," Brown said.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger released a terse statement through an aide. "The governor believes the Supreme Court ought to bring clarity to this issue," the spokesman said. Schwarzenegger has said he expected the court to overturn the proposition and indicated that he favored that outcome.

Dana Perlman, a Los Angeles lawyer who married his partner, Hugh Kinsellagh, in July, said watching the court has been "painful." "I'm excited the court is taking the case," said Perlman, who along with his spouse is one of an estimated 18,000 same-sex couples who have married since June, when the California Supreme Court ruling took effect. But he said he is "pained . . . having to sit and wait for the men and women in black robes" to decide the fate of his marriage.

When Paul Newman met Joanne she was Gore Vidal's beard, then Paul and Joanne apparently hooked up and the three of them lived together in the same house for a while. Some people think Paul and Vidal were the real thing and Joanne was just the screen.
Go ahead,do the research and see that this was the rumor back then.
personally, I think Newman was one of the best and i don't care if he was bearding.I don't care Jake bearding either but i certainly don't like the beard he got.I just don't really think HW actors bearding are an impediment for gay rights.I think political and religion issues are more determinant

  9. Vidal's second memoir Point to Point Navigation: A Memoir

    From The Washington Post:

"Gore Vidal himself is not above cursing, but readers of Palimpsest were startled to find him doing something quite opposite: holding a torch for a childhood sweetheart named Jimmie Trimble, "the unfinished business of my life," killed on Iwo Jima at the age of 18. (Don't get the author started on "good wars.") From the evidence, one could believe that Vidal's heart was killed off in the same instant -- were it not for this second volume's moving testament to the late Howard Auster, Vidal's companion for more than half a century. They met on Labor Day 1950. Years later, Auster told Vidal "that he thought he was just passing through my life and was surprised as the decades began to stack up and we were still together. But then it is easy to sustain a relationship when sex plays no part and impossible, I have observed, when it does. Each had a sex life apart from the other: all else including our sovereign, Time, was shared."

In my opinion, i just don't really care if the actors i like are bearding or faking a romance,as long as they still can thrill me with their performances, and i don't think they have the moral obligation of coming out if they don't want to. 13. Though when asked about Elton John's assertion that civil unions ought to do, Spacey replied...

    November 14, 2008

Elton John is enlisted as an unlikely ally for pro-Proposition 8 fundraising efforts

Protests and vandalism mounted by advocates of same-sex marriage are being used by promoters of Proposition 8 as a fundraising tool. Jeff Flint, manager of the Yes-on-8 campaign, the proposition that banned gay marriage, also is using an unlikely ally -- Sir Elton John.

Flint sent out an e-mail solicitation decrying the tactics by some foes of the initiative and citing a USA Today article that quotes the performer as describing he and his partner are in a civil partnership, not marriage, and how he prefers it that way. Prominent on the e-mail is a large red button that says: Donate. “We want our supporters to know that we’re not going to stand by while they are harassed and intimidated when we asked them to support us,” Flint said today.

There have been numerous protests and some vandalism since voters approved the measure by a margin of 52.25% to 47.8% on Nov 4.

“It shows the so-called forces of tolerance are the most intolerant force in politics,” Flint said. “I can’t believe politically it is helping them.” Money raised by the measure will be used in the coming court battle over Proposition 8. More than 40 Democratic legislators have filed a friend-of-the-court brief urging that the California Supreme Court overturn the initiative. Arnold Schwarzenegger also has called on the court to intervene.

James Franco Not Afraid to Play Gay Twice

    And why should he be?

Although NYDN's Rush & Molloy seem to think there are some "wicked" rumors going around about James Franco on the web that should make him concerned about playing gay on film again, Franco will do it again anyway, they say:

"But at a time when Hollywood still seems to like its heroic gay characters played by straight men, Franco isn't bothered by perceptions. Back-to-back gay roles 'don't make any difference to me,' he told us at Monday's Cinema Society screening of 'Milk.' 'Ginsberg has been one of my heroes, and this movie' - about the 1957 obscenity trial over Ginsberg's most famous poem - 'is just so important.' Never mind that Franco doesn't look much like the tubby, balding, bearded Ginsberg of the hippie era. 'I'm playing him when he was in his late 20s, just after he went to Columbia,' said Franco, who happens to be a student at the same university. (The girls moon over him in Butler Library.) 'We work with the old pictures. He has hair, he doesn't have a beard and he's not huge.'"

  21. I think bearding is wrong. It's homophobic because the message conveyed is that it is not acceptable to be gay, that only people who are straight can get ahead and that homosexual relationships are inferior to heteresexual relationhips. People who beard are telling the world that they are ashamed to be gay.

I know being out is still difficult in HW and in many other places. But coming out is important too, any civil rights movement is about visibility. The more people who are out, particularly highly visible people like politicians, actors, athletes, etc. the more things will change.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Franco. My bet it that at a minimum we won't see any more bearding from him, and it wouldn't surprise me he doesn't come out within the next few years. He certainly didn't care about being seen at a rally for gay marriage.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't think J.Franco is gay.I think he is the second Jake because he plays it cool about sexual ambiguity but then he will start to want bigger more mainstream roles and he will shake this trendy pose out of him as if were shit
IMO, when rumors start to run in HW it doesn't matter if the person is gay or not,it's the public image what is damaged not the private life itself.
That's why i still think Jake MIGHT be straight or bi but still needed to have a famous, high profile GF to show the world he is really into females

  26. An example:

Peter Stickles (born October 8, 1976) is an American actor from New York. He is best known for his role as the voyeuristic Caleb in the John Cameron Mitchell film Shortbus and as Damian, leader of a gay vampire cult, in the here! original series The Lair.

Stickles is openly gay, having come out during the publicity surrounding the release of Shortbus. He has spoken at length about the impact of his decision to be openly gay from the beginning of his career.

"The producers of The Lair took me aside and we had a meeting about whether or not I was going to be an 'out' gay actor and whether they were going to be able to market me. But they wanted me to take it very seriously, because it's a very big decision and I had to stop and think about it. Because even though it sucks, and it shouldn't matter, it does matter. So yeah, I had to really think about it — not so much in terms of being a horror movie actor, because if I could do horror movies for the rest of my life I'd die a happy man. But being pigeonholed as a gay film actor is kind of weird for me."

  31. being pigeonholed as a gay film actor is kind of weird for me.

And who is doing the pigeonholing? Hollywood. They are the problem.

Here's how it works. The current rule is if you want to be a stah, you have to pretend to be straight.

OK so if you're not homophobic, switch the rule and say if you want to be a star, you have to pretend to be gay. That way you keep the status quo where nobody knows who's gay and who's straight, and at the same time, you don't send a message that being gay is bad.

  35. There is a huge difference between keeping your life private and not coming out, and actively bearding and plastering your fake relationship over every media known to man on a regular, every other week like clock-work schedule.

Gay people in HW are going to remain second class citizens as long as they go along with this bearding nonsense and let HW tell them they can't have a life. Substitute black for gay and tell me again why it's okay for Jake and others to be the gay equivalent of Uncle Toms.

HW used to think you couldn't be a star if you were black either, and wouldn't put black actors in films for fear of offending movie goers in certain parts of the country. Do you think HW could get away today with saying we're not going to have anyone black in our films because we may lose a few dollars in ticket sales?

And just goes to show you how wrong all those people were in the first place. Will Smith is the biggest star there is right now in HW.

    http://www.screenindia.com/news/Paparazzi-force-Witherspoon-to-pull-daughter-out-of-school/388302/

Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon has pulled her daughter out of a dream school because of the hounding paparazzi.
The stunner is upset by the way snappers have tortured her daughter Ava to get her snap, because of which the actress was forced to take her baby girl out of the ‘wonderful school’.

‘She was so harassed that we had to take her out,’ ‘Contactmusic’ quoted the actress, as saying.

‘The most difficult part is seeing my children being followed and harassed. They've been treated terribly. They were shouted at in their Halloween costumes, photographers screaming, 'You don't look scared,’ she added.

The situation has prompted the protective mum to think twice about life in Hollywood: ‘I hope not to live in this place forever.’

And she tells ‘Parade’ magazine that fame has become somewhat of a curse: ‘It removes me from people. When I first meet someone, it is so hard for me to overcome everything they've read about me. It's not fair. It's difficult, because I'm the kind of person who just wants to hug people.’

  45. Perez Hilton Won’t Go to Sundance Because of Yes on 8 $$

Uber-Hollywood blogger Perez Hilton was on with CNN's Jane Velez Mitchell last night, and wow, is Perez peeved over the Mormon support of Prop 8:

"I've gone to Sundance for the past three years, and I won't be going this year..."

That's a huge deal--Perez has a gianormous readership, and Sundance provides lots of blog-fodder and swag. When Velez Mitchell pointed out that Sundance was known for its diversity and screening of gay and lesbian films, Perez parried with the idea of those films being shown at during an alternative festival in Los Angeles.

Last week Americablog.com's John Aravosis urged filmmakers to boycott the Sundance Film Festival:

"Let's start with the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. It's high time Sundance found a better state to party in than the seat of the Mormon Church. Sundance is THE gathering of liberal Hollywood. The last place it should be is in Utah. Robert Redford, are you out there?"

Alan Stock, CEO of the national movie theater chain Cinemark, donated $9,999 to Yes on 8, and Cinemark owns Park City’s Holiday Village, one of Sundance’s biggest screening venue. So along with the pinch from the current state of the economy, the festival may soon feel the pinch from a gay boycott. Maybe Redford should, for this year, consider setting up shop elsewhere...

"Do I need men?” actress reese Witherspoon asks. “I don’t think it’s about needing men. It’s about love.” ...

Since her divorce, Reese’s long friendship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal, 27, has garnered increasing media attention. A year ago, as she and Jake starred together in the film Rendition and her divorce was being finalized, the media speculation about their romance heated up. When Jake’s in Los Angeles, he reportedly stays at her home. Recently, Jake, Reese, and her kids have been spotted together in London and Paris, leading to questions of possible marriage.

“Family is all we have in life, but I don’t know how I feel about marriage,” she tells me. “Obviously, I’m not far enough out of being married to think about doing it again. You sort of reconstitute your family. You find a family, with people who come into your life for a reason.

“I definitely still have a capacity to love,” she continues. “Someone said to me once, ‘No matter what breakup you went through or what new love you find—the love you remember, like the love you now value, is yours. Whatever love you once gave to somebody else, it doesn’t go away. Even if it is only remembered love, it belongs to you.’”

    Reese smiles.

“Things change,” she says, “but your ability to love remains intact. Oh, I have a lot of hope for love! I do!”

There is no need to spin anything. Reese worked hard and long to convince the world that Jake is crazy in love with her. I would be very rude to question all those tabloid covers and tabloid fiction, no reporter would do that.

  57. Once again Reese was vague and non-committal when she answered the questions about her love life. There's no reason to hide this relationship unless it doesn't exist. Every word out of her mouth makes it sound as though there is no love interest in her life at the moment, just good friends.

Reese Witherspoon speaks candidly in this Sunday’s issue of Parade about her divorce with Ryan Phillippe, feeling unsure about marriage with Jake Gyllenhaal and the biggest detriment in her life — tabloid fame. Here’s a sampling:

On her divorce with actor Ryan Phillippe: “There are things in my life that are hard to reconcile, like divorce. Sometimes it is very difficult to make sense of how it could possibly happen. Laying blame is so easy. I don’t have time for hate or negativity in my life. There’s no room for it. When you make wrong choices, you have to take responsibility for them: ‘What part of this do I own?’ I struggle to figure out what made me make those choices. All I can hope for is that I’ve learned something from it and won’t make the same choices again.”

On the biggest problem in her life: “The biggest detriment of my life is tabloid fame. It removes me from people. When I first meet someone, it is so hard for me to overcome everything they’ve read about me. It’s not fair. It’s difficult, because I’m the kind of person who just wants to hug people.”

On giving her kids a good value system: ““I’m teaching the children what we were taught growing up—a real set of rules, discipline, and love. Children thrive with a sense of structure, and they’re frightened without it. The ways you behave, how you speak to other people—those things don’t leave you… The other day my son said to me, ‘Mama, why do I have to take off my hat in the house?’ I was like, ‘Because it’s respectful. That’s why you take off your hat.’ And he goes, ‘And I always have to take off my hat in church, too!’ It really bothered him. But those values sustain a life. Respect. Faith. Empathy. Compassion.”

On what life would be if she wasn’t an actress: “I loved Stanford, and I wish I had gone back and finished. Today, if I were not an actor, I’d probably be a social anthropologist or a psychologist. I have an endless curiosity about people. But then I think, ‘I’ve been very lucky. I don’t regret the path I went on in life’.

The actress on Jake, Ryan and making sure her kids always come first. Plus, why she feels unsure about marriage.

    Actress Reese Witherspoon:
I have great hope for love
    By Dotson Rader

'Do I need men?” actress reese Witherspoon asks. “I don’t think it’s about needing men. It’s about love.”

Sitting in a quiet corner of a Beverly Hills hotel lounge overlooking a garden, Reese wears a chic black dress, black open-toe pumps, and gold dangle earrings. An Oscar-winner for 2005’s Walk the Line, Reese, 32, is reportedly the world’s highest-paid actress. She is also astonishingly beautiful. Her new movie, Four Christmases, a comedy about family ties co-starring Vince Vaughn, opens this month.

“Everybody needs love,” she tells me. “Everyone deserves it.”

The great love of Reese’s life was once actor Ryan Phillippe, 34. They met at her 21st birthday party in 1997 and married two years later. She admits that in some respects she was naïve to believe that her marriage would last forever. “I wasn’t good about protecting myself,” she explains. “I spent a lot of my 20s just trying to make other people happy, rather than trying to figure out if doing that made me happy.”

Three months after they wed, their daughter Ava, now 8, was born. A son, Deacon, arrived in 2003. Then, a year ago, she and Ryan divorced.

“There are things in my life that are hard to reconcile, like divorce,” she says. “Sometimes it is very difficult to make sense of how it could possibly happen. Laying blame is so easy. I don’t have time for hate or negativity in my life. There’s no room for it. When you make wrong choices, you have to take responsibility for them: ‘What part of this do I own?’”

She pauses and takes a sip of tea. “I struggle to figure out what made me make those choices,” she admits. “All I can hope for is that I’ve learned something from it and won’t make the same choices again.”

Reese became a movie star by choosing to play tough, single-minded careerists or conniving, manipulative social climbers in films like Election, Legally Blonde, and Vanity Fair. However, in person, she is nothing like the movie roles that made her famous. Instead, vulnerability underlies her finishing-school poise.

“I want to be understood,” she says. “Even as a child, I didn’t feel like I was. I still see that part of myself that wants approval, and that’s a constant need.”

Reese was raised with traditional values in Nashville, the only daughter in a devout Episcopalian family. She has an older brother. Her father, John, is a surgeon, and her mother, Betty, is a professor of nursing. “It was a close-knit community,” she recalls. “We’d go to church and see people in need in the pew next to us, and I was taught compassion and service by watching my parents helping them.”

Today, Reese remains active in charities that help children and abused women, like the Avon Foundation and Save the Children. “It’s not acceptable in this country that one in six children lives below the poverty line,” she states. “People have to get back to really taking care of one another.”

When Reese first arrived in L.A., she quickly felt that the treatment of women by Hollywood was repugnant—and she still feels that it is.

“It takes perseverance and determination for any young woman to navigate the movie business,” she says. “It’s deeply offensive when they are objectified, treated like sex toys. It’s so easy to get attention early on in your career when you promote only the sexual side of yourself. It gains you popularity, but it doesn’t mean anything. Five years later, no one knows your name, and you wonder why.

“Trust me, I’ve had my moments,” she adds. “I’m like a junkyard dog. I’d say, ‘Why are they asking me to wear a bikini?’ I get tough, because I see the slippery slope. I’ve heard the way roles are cast. There are a lot of women who don’t respect themselves and hurt themselves. I grew up knowing strong women who value who you are and what you contribute to life.” This sense of strength still helps Reese today.

“Turning 30 was really big for me,” she says. “I can get really stuck on ‘I don’t like this or that about myself.’ I’ve found that the only thing that breaks that for me is being able to spend time alone, going to the movies by myself or going to art museums alone. I do that a lot. I’ve discovered the importance of even 15 or 30 minutes a day where it is just me.”

Since their divorce, both Reese and Ryan continue to share the care of their children. Both kids, she says, still know they have the same two parents. “My ex-husband is very involved in raising our beautiful children,” she says. “We’re very lucky because we both grew up in working families in middle America. We’re on the same page that way. When we’re with our children, we’re very good about checking ourselves.

“I’m teaching the children what we were taught growing up—a real set of rules, discipline, and love,” she says. “Children thrive with a sense of structure, and they’re frightened without it. The ways you behave, how you speak to other people—those things don’t leave you.”

I ask if she worries about her children’s safety. “After my second baby, I was scared,” she recalls. “It’s hard to protect your babies from the press and all the people out there wanting a part of you. It made me hibernate a little bit more. I got very ‘Mama Bear’ and protective. You give birth, and worry and guilt come with it. It’s a natural part of being a parent. But for me, the most difficult part is seeing my children being followed and harassed. They’ve been treated terribly. They were shouted at in their Halloween costumes, photographers screaming, ‘You don’t look scared!’ We used to take our daughter to a wonderful school, and she was so harassed that we had to take her out. I hope not to live in this place forever.

“The biggest detriment of my life is tabloid fame,” she continues. “It removes me from people. When I first meet someone, it is so hard for me to overcome everything they’ve read about me. It’s not fair. It’s difficult, because I’m the kind of person who just wants to hug people.”

Whatever love you once gave to somebody else, it doesn’t go away. Even if it is only remembered love, it belongs to you.’”

    Reese smiles.

“Things change,” she says, “but your ability to love remains intact. Oh, I have a lot of hope for love! I do!”

Reeke was and is first and foremost about good PR for Reese. She wants "strong, have it all woman" image, so Jake can't be her equal.

You shouldn't pay attention to what Reese says, it's her PR shit.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Well, leaving aside what she does to Jake (with Reeke), I think Reese would like to be seen as a feminist.
Secondly, she seems still in love with R.

  77. No. Feminists don't sell Avon cosmetics.

  81. Reeke was and is first and foremost about good PR for Reese. She wants "strong, have it all woman" image, so Jake can't be her equal.

If Reeke is fake and Reese does it to look "good" in the public eye, then Jake likely does it to look straight. So, both profit. If you want to call it that.

    ReplyDelete
  82. You obviously don't know the meaning of feminist. It means women should have the freedom to choose their paths and ayes that includes selling Avon products and choosing rto put their careers on hold to raise their family like Jake's mom did, a proclaimed feminist.
Maggie who considers heself one as well says that she plans on slowing down as Ramona gets older and was for a bit the spokeswoman for some racy lingerie, choices.

As far as Reese still being in love with Rtyan I think that too whenever Ryan goes on about Reese, which is odd if you believe the gossip about them and that they both couldn't wait till the divorce was over.

I think they are still fond of each other and are civil because of the kids but they were clearly too young to get married and wouldn't have if she didn't get pregnant.

PS: All theis nice talk about Ryan is part of the PR spin, just like Ryan while doing Stop Loss, saying how amazing she is and he stilled cared about her, blah, blah.

    ReplyDelete
  83. If Reeke is fake and Reese does it to look "good" in the public eye, then Jake likely does it to look straight.

Jake sure doesn't do it because he likes Reese! lol

    Are you new here?

  84. I wonder, when Reese sets-up her photo ops with the paps, does she tell them to make sure they get at least 2 good shots of her looking annoyed so she can tell every interview she does how she hates having her pic taken by the paps? And for a woman who is supposed to be so in love why would she say "I have alot of hope for love". That comment tells me she's not in love right now if she's hoping for it. Could she be any more phony.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Both Jake and Reese tell the psps to make sure to get the 2 pissed off pics.

He even walks backwards a few times to make it look good. You noticed that they both smile together at the paps and then together scowl at the paps.

    Both are phony HW tools.

    ReplyDelete
  86. "Why does Jake allow people to believe he is living with Reese and her kids when he isn't? "

Because Disney expects it. No bearding, which sells gossip rags, no PoP. Jake knows it and does what they tell him to do. You don't see too many blockbusters or Oscar worthy roles coming down the pike for him any time soon, do you? Do you honestly think that Disney couldn't replace him with some other, less expensive, hunk?

He will do as he's told - by Disney AND Reese. At least Chris is with him in Europe.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Can't seen any Oscar worthy roles coming his way after this whole nonsense with Reese. People making films like that don't want to cast tabloid jokes, and they don't sell movies--look how poorly Brangelina's films have done recently.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Hope all that Disney money was worth losing his dignity and ruining his reputation as an honest, down to earth guy.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Disney and Reese ain't forcing Bubble boy to do anything he doesn't want to do Reese is sure a step up from that junkie skank Kiki he latched on to and he knows it.

It's always someone else fault but his, typical silly fangirl response.

And what the hell does Chris teaching cooking in Italy to supplement his income got to do with anything? He will be back in MV at the end of the month and Jake will be back in the states in early Dec. Chris and Jake have seperate lives, period.

If Jake doesn't get oscar worthy roles it woll because of stuff like Zodiac and Rendition where he was miscast, and doing schlock like Pop and signing on to potential bombs like Brothers and straight to video crap like Nalked not because of Reese.

    ReplyDelete
  90. The most telling part of the interview was no mention of any affection for Jake at all. Add to that her being hopeful for love. They are friends, just friends. She would not have said anything if she did not have a movie to promote. Jake has never said a word about her. I think his deal with Austin (to put up with this crap) is that he show no overt sign of affection or say anything that might be construed that way. I don't understand how Austin tolerates this.

I think they photoshopped her chin a bit. It gets pointier by the day.

    ReplyDelete
  91. 9:24pm, you're right, Jake is to blame for his choice of movie roles and the bearding with Reese. He put the nails in his coffin, but the final nail is linking himself to Reese. He's now been neutered and become wimpy Mr. Witherspoon. I still think that POP won't be the box office mega hit Disney is trying to convince everyone it will be. I don't think that Jake will be able to pull off being super macho Persian prince.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Jake has not been "heard"from in well over a year and I don't count the Disney approved crap "interview" on Et as an interview. Except for the rendition Pr where he once said thatthey were friends (Italian interview) to he refused to comment during Rendition pres conference to both Jake and Reese laughing off rumors, all last year and you know what happened after that.

Jake has dodged the "bullet" because of Brothers being pushed back. He also has avoided talking about Heath, another plus for him.

She doesn't speak of affection towards him or anyone else she mentions including her kids really, everything is new age and vague, and she doesn't mention Jake by name just like the Vogue interview or her ET interview.

Hopeful for love is followed by she isn't sure she is ready to get married again, reading that and the other stuff in the article most would come away with that they are dating but it's too soon to think of remarrying. It's a rational and mature view that most would agree with and her comment about restructuring your family means to most that she has added/included someone and it's meant to mean Jake.

Look at the google alert on how everyone from Perez to people to US to MSNBC is spinning this: she is happily dating Jake but she isn't quite ready to make it legal. That was the point, they want to think they are living together and is one happy family, she spins better than a politician.

When pop wraps you will get Christmas photo ops with them and it will be clear that they are more than friends.

PS: If you read the whole article you will see where she slips in that she has found love again, she was quoting a friend.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Reese is one smart cookie, the MSM and even the blogs are picking up the happily dating Jake but not ready to remarry spin.

This is what she says about love and the hopeful part comes at the end. And it can be and is for the most part interperted as she is hopeful for "love", that maybe tis time it will work out not that she is still looking and she says she still has the capcity to love which implies that she is in love.

I know that it would be easier for to say: divorce sucked and that i'm still hurting from it but I ave a new BF and although i'm nowhere ready from marriage again I'm really happy and hpeful that this time love will work out but that's too simple:

“I definitely still have a capacity to love,” she continues. “Someone said to me once, ‘No matter what breakup you went through or what new love you find—the love you remember, like the love you now value, is yours. Whatever love you once gave to somebody else, it doesn’t go away. Even if it is only remembered love, it belongs to you.’”

    Reese smiles.

“Things change,” she says, “but your ability to love remains intact. Oh, I have a lot of hope for love! I do!”

  94. I just saw the ET Pop interview. Jake has turned into a real Muscle Mary.

I didn't think that any man could look gayer with a beard than without one, but once again, the rules are different for Jake. Maybe if he hung out with more straight guys he'd actually start looking and acting like a straight guy.

    ReplyDelete
  95. And what the hell does Chris teaching cooking in Italy to supplement his income got to do with anything? He will be back in MV at the end of the month and Jake will be back in the states in early Dec. Chris and Jake have seperate lives, period.

If Chris is in Europe and, Jake is in Europe, how do you know that they have not met up, hooked up, visited each other? France and the UK is closer than NY / Miami.

I don't understand how Austin tolerates this.

^^I don't think he has for over a year now. don't think Jake and Austin are involved anymore. More things point towards Chris for me.

How do you know Austin is not in London now??! At the end of the day no one knows shit.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Jake doesn't hang out with lots of straight guys for three reasons :

    1. He seems to have gotten more hetero-driven professional mileage from holding Reese's hand and hanging out with Reese's rug rats then he ever got playing b-ball with the boyz.

    2. He's afraid that he'll either get caught looking at some hunky, sweaty straight just a little too long, or they will look more macho than he does.

    3. Like alot of urban gay men, he just doesn't like straight guys very much, and doesn't feel even remotely guilty about it. Most straight men are reflexively homophobic, and gay men living out in the suburbs or in the country-side, far away from gay pride parades and gay communities, have to put up with that homophobia all the time. Urban gay men usually don't have to take that crap 24 hours a day, and they run away from it if they can. And Jake can. In fact, he's been doing it for a year. Why stop now, especially when he's not only bearding, but he's emotionally fragile?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Reese, 32, is reportedly the world’s highest-paid actress. She is also astonishingly beautiful

  103. 1. More people than ever think Jake is gay, and he's become a pathetic joke. Only stupid HW big shots and ten percenters thing Reese has made Jake more hetero.

    2. May be true, plus HW is so homophobic that they've decided Jake can't be seen with any male at any cost, not even his father, Peter, Chris, etc., let alone Austin.

    3. Total BS. My circle of friends includes both gay and straight men, and in an urban area where there are so many metrosexuals, there are fewer differences than there would be in the country-side. And jake isn't fragile, just stupid and desperate to be star regardless of whether what he does publicly makes him look like a fool.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I still think Austin is with Jake, but Austin is a fool to stay. He could probably have almost any hot guy he wants, and one that wouldn't be ashamed to be seen with him in public and wouldn't be running around making an ass of himself bearding.

    THERAPY FOR LINDSAY & SAM

THE most talked-about twosome in Hollywood are talking with a couples counselor to resolve their escalating problems, an insider told Page Six.

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson "are fighting like cats and dogs," according to our source. "They fight every day, screaming, crying and yelling at each other.

"Sam and Lindsay are still very much together and very much in love, but drama just seems to follow Lindsay, and Sam hates it. She deals with Lindsay every day. And every day for Sam means questioning, 'Is this worth it?' "

Page Six spies saw Lohan and Ronson get into a spat outside of Citrine on West 21st Street recently, and the London Sun published details of a explosive argument this week outside Boujis in London, where Ronson was deejaying. The paper reported "all hell broke loose" and the the screaming match ended with Lohan "in tears." On Nov. 4, a video posted online showed Lohan, 22, snapping at Ronson, 31, to "pull the car up, Sam" in front of a slew of fotogs. "Lindsay is high-maintenance and a lot to deal with," another insider divulged. "And Sam has always dealt with her. But it isn't easy."

Lohan - who insists she is not a lesbian despite her relationship with Ronson - "will go straight back to guys" if she and Ronson do split, said one source. Rumors of her flirting with Chase Crawford and her ex-boyfriend Calum Best add fuel to the combustible situation. "The things they argue about have to do with their age difference," said our insider. "But no matter what happens, at the end of the day, they are always fine."

A rep for Lohan said only that she's unaware of any therapy sessions.

  113. Posted on OMG about Austin's movie "Prayers for Bobby" receiving an award

"Lifetime, Weaver To Be Honored By Trevor Project

Award Given To Those Who Inspire LGBT Community

By Linda Haugsted -- Multichannel News, 11/20/2008 11:36:00 AM

Lifetime Networks and Sigourney Weaver, star of the network's upcoming telefilm Prayers for Bobby, will be honored by the Trevor Project, the operator of a national suicide prevention helpline for gay, bisexual and transgender youth.

The award is given to individuals and companies that inspire the LGBT community. The award will be presented during the group's Cracked Xmas fundraising event at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles on Dec. 7.

Weaver will receive the Trevor Life Award, in part, for her role as Mary Griffith in the upcoming Lifetime movie, which "drives home a message about the harmful and potentially life-shattering effects of intolerance and homophobia."

Lifetime will be honored for its history of tackling films that discuss life issues and the impact of homophobia, such as What Makes a Family, The Truth About Jane and A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story. Past recipients of this award have included Clear Channel Communications and HBO.

Prayers for Bobby, which is also co-produced by Weaver, is about a very conservative and religious woman who begins to question her beliefs when her gay son commits suicide."

  115. People's Shady Angelina Jolie Dealings

As a member of the vaunted Time Inc. magazine empire, People has always stood a cut or two above most celebrity magazines, ethically speaking. But Angelina Jolie is "scary smart," in the words of celeb-mag editor Bonnie Fuller, and the actress seems to have had little trouble corrupting People's soul. Set aside the now-common practice of paying for baby pictures. Judging from a Times exposé, Jolie also banished the word "Brangelina" from People's pages, dictated coverage of her charitable work in Cambodia and won from People the "positive" tone she demanded. She seems to have pulled this off with a little editor-source dance that gave People plausible deniability.
    ...
In its coverage of Jolie's latest birth, to twins, People never once used the term "Brangelina," a word the couple hates. It's not clear if the magazine acceded to Jolie's other demand that she get positive coverage "not merely in that instance but into the future," as the Times put it.

Celebrities like Jolie get admiration for such effective flacking, which in this case worked not only on People but Us Weekly and others. The publications, though, (especially People) look more and more like publicity brochures crafted by the celebrities they cover, and increasingly undifferentiated from the morass of celebrity coverage online.

  117. From the source:

    Angelina Jolie's carefully orchestrated image

    ...
While all celebrities seek to manipulate their public images to one degree or another, Jolie accomplishes it with a determination, a self-reliance and a degree of success that is particularly notable. The actress does not employ a publicist or an agent. The keys to her public image belong to her alone, although she does rely on her longtime manager, Geyer Kosinski, as a conduit.

Jennifer Lopez, who sold pictures of her twins to People for an estimated $6 million in February, has a team of eight to help her navigate such situations. Jolie, 33, has her cellphone, a lawyer and Kosinski (and, of course, the counsel of her partner, Pitt). Getty Images handled the photography and some negotiations.
    ...
But she cut a very different, wilder figure in Hollywood during her marriage to the actor Billy Bob Thornton. After their divorce in 2003, Us magazine asked Jolie if she would agree to an interview and be photographed. According to two people involved, she declined — but then offered the magazine another photo opportunity. Jolie informed it what time and place she would be publicly playing with Maddox, essentially creating a paparazzi shot.
    ...
Jolie's attempts to lasso the media have occasionally backfired. In 2006, when she sought the privacy of Namibia to give birth to Shiloh, the government refused to grant visas to journalists unless they had written permission from the couple. Magazines complained harshly.

More recently, she insisted that journalists at the premiere of "A Mighty Heart," a movie about the murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, sign an agreement limiting their questions and the use of her answers. In part, the document stated: "The interview may only be used to promote the picture. In no event may interviewer or media outlet be entitled to run all or any portion of the interview in connection with any other story."
    ...
Still, such blunders are rare, and Jolie's Q score, a measurement of a star's likability, has continued to increase. Around the time she won her Oscar, 13 percent of people surveyed viewed her positively, according to Marketing Evaluations Inc. The average rating for female stars is 18 percent.

Today, about 24 percent of respondents view Jolie positively.

  127. 10"18: Nope. Been through this before, remember last year where he supposedly asked her to marry him in Rome complete with ring and she said no, she wasn't ready and it was too soon? This is the same speil to tie in with her movie: She and Vince play a happily unmarried couple that are forced to spend the holidays with their dysfunctional families by the end of the movie they have a change of heart. She is being portrayed as happily dating Jake but is in no rush to marry.

People always think they are setting up for a "break-up" when in fact it's just more BS to make them sound interesting. A photo op is coming once he finishes Pop in early Dec., just in time for the Holidays!!

PS: Remember, he told her to stop making wedding plans because he was so upset about his parents divorce, LOL!!

  128. I find it curious that no one is interested in how Jake spends his time in London. Sure his "girlfriend" visits every couple of weeks, but that leaves a lot of time unaccounted for. The movie does not shoot 24 hrs/7days a week. All this focus on Reese has been effective in keeping eyes off Jake and whoever he is really spending his time with. Like his boyfriend and child. I'd prefer Austin, but agree that Chris is not a bad back up.

    ReplyDelete

Not to mention all the "Reese visits Jake" while he's filming PoP in London stories, with some of the first pictures being from their dinner with Bruckheimer.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  137. So why not have pictures of Jake in his costume on the set of PoP without Reese? As for Nailed, it's not like it's a costume piece or the kind of film where people care what the set looks like. With films like PoP, Batman, etc., fans want to see what it is going to look like. Name one other film of that type where the first look at the film was of the star with a wife, girlfriend, etc. draped around him.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I think Jake and Austin were together but have ended the relationship. Chris was never anything more than Jake's friend. Reese is Jake's beard. Jake likes the attention that he gets when he's hooked to an actress who's much more famous than he is. He's not passionate about acting. He's passionate about being a star without having to do the work to get to that point legitimately.

    ReplyDelete
  142. ^ following a mention of Reese at the CMAs and an introduction that started out with "Reese's boyfriend Jake". And why not show this at a different time, e.g., the rumoured date of the previous week. Oh, and by the way, the date it was origianlly going to air they ran a Reese story. Coincidence not. They clearly wanted to tie it to Reese. And if you think a show like ET doesn't have any input from pr about when to run a movie promo, then I have a bridge to sell you.

A year from now when it’s finally on DVD, someone I know will ask me if I’ve seen Four Christmases. “Four what?” I’ll ask. “Four Christmases,” they’ll say. “The holiday movie with Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn.” And I’ll respond, “no never heard of it.” As far as I’ll know that will be the truth, because by then I’ll have forgotten this movie exists. Its cliché collection of bland, formula gags will have long since been replaced in my brain by more worthy memories. Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn’s empty, uninteresting characters will have long since vanished from my consciousness.

I've never really understood people who say they don't "agree" with the way that certain people are born. Juliana's mother and stepfather kept saying things like, "Being gay is wrong. We just wish that she would make the right choice for herself." What they really meant was, "I just wish that she would make the right choice for me." In the end, Juliana's parents went to her wedding, although her mother said on her wedding video that she was "very sad."

Oh, that Jiggly Wiggle-Poof sure is a talented girlfriend! Sure enough, just as I winked a few weeks ago, our parking-lot Lothario, Toothy Tile, is becoming sickeningly domesticated with his sweet, if not chastising, b-f, so we can't look to Mr. T. for our naughty-time tuchus terrorizing—at least, not right now. 181. Michelle in Newsweek

"Williams is jovial and chatty, until the conversation turns to Heath. You can see it's still difficult for her to talk about him, and she hasn't done so publicly until now. The first time Ledger's name comes up, she bursts into tears. "It's so sad," Williams says. When she's asked about how she's been doing in the past year, she's silent for a very long time. "I guess it's always changing," she says. There's another pause. "What else can I say?" Her voice is breathy and fragile, and she takes a few gulps of air. "I just wake up each day in a slightly different place—grief is like a moving river, so that's what I mean by 'it's always changing'." She stops again. "It's a strange thing to say"—her words unravel slowly, her eyes tear up—"because I'm at heart an optimistic person, but I would say in some ways it just gets worse. It's just that the more time that passes, the more you miss someone. In some ways it gets worse. That's what I would say."

    ReplyDelete
  182. :( I imagine it's still terribly difficult.

    ReplyDelete
  183. I feel so sad for Michelle, seeing that interview. It's not even been a year yet though. I tell friends who have lost loved ones that it takes a minimum of 2 full years, and don't even try to stop grieving until then.

Who is surprised by the bad review of 4Xmases. Looked like crap from the trailer. Megaa crap. No early reviews from anyone. You know it was previewed somewhere. It will be on DVD in weeks, not a year.

Disney will have its work cut out for it. Reeke is to straighten his image and not working. They havent even begun to promote the movie yet. Bruckheimer says it will be so different but so far I have not seen aything not done before.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Well, the previews weren't my cup of tea, that's for sure. Sort of offensive. I fear that this alliance is having just the opposite affect, and may hurt Jake's career. I wish he'd cut her loose, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

    ReplyDelete
  185. That said, I do hope it does ok for her, because bad box office isn't a good thing. I just hope it doesn't drag Jake down with it. I think PoP would fare better if he was on his own. :(

    ReplyDelete
  186. For all the hard work Jake has been doing with the Chin to prove he's Mr. Straight, the interview from POP set of him play-fighting made him look more gay. The whole look he has with the long hair and the Popeye muscles doesn't match with his soft voice and his lithe movements. Plus, Disney is already doing PR on a movie that's not coming out for another 1 1/2 yrs. trying to convince everyone it's a super block buster.

    ReplyDelete
  187. I think that part of it is fine, how he looks in PoP. Once they get it finished, I'm sure it will be fine. I just wonder about Reeke - it appears Jake puts very little effort into it, it's all Reese. He just shows up, puts in the minimal amount of time, and is gone. Even what Reese says is so noncommittal and vague. First all gung-ho for marriage, now abrupt change of plans. It's beyond me, I'm afraid.

    ReplyDelete
  188. I feel like I no longer want to know about it, it's all so obviously PR machinations, it just turns me off completely. They've ratcheted things up now for the upcoming movie promotions. Probably the majority of filmgoers don't pay as much attention, and the plan will work.

    ReplyDelete
  189. It's not even Reese that I found objectionable about Four Christmases, she's adorable. I think it's Vince's character that I found a bit offensive. I think Reese does the best she can with the material, but frankly I found it a bit dumb. Sorry to sound mean, but it just isn't my cup of tea. I'm sure generally it will do great tho.

    ReplyDelete
  190. I also think Gemma is going to do great things with PoP. I love her in the clip I saw on ET, and I loved her in Quantum. I'm very impressed with Daniel Craig as well, he seemed especially fit in this Bond film. I can't wait for Defiance. Besides being a great film on its own, it's a smart move on his part so he isn't typecast.

    ReplyDelete
  191. For some reason Reese feels like her success needs to measured in being the highest paid, not the most talented. Not sure who even paid her the alleged 20 mil. Certainly not Rendition, Penelope or 4mxas. She should concentrate on good roles. Look at Streep. Still knocking them dead after 30 years.

    ReplyDelete
  192. I totally agree. I loved Reese in Walk the Line. I also hope Jake didn't take a right turn at Lightin' Flat and headed straight for Middle America.

    ReplyDelete
  193. The 20 million figure for Reese was for a movie she was producing but it has never been made. More phoneyspoon.

    ReplyDelete
  194. "I just wonder about Reeke - it appears Jake puts very little effort into it, it's all Reese.."

It´s all about Reese? Hell, Reese never acknowledged that they even have a relationship. She never once called him anything. She never mentioned him by name in the promo-interviews. She called him supportive, which well implies he is nothing more than a friend. It´s the rags and it´s partly pr, but Reese certainly never said he was anything special in her life. She made it very clear that she has no intention to marry and people have speculated that she is still in love with her ex. What I found is that she has still more feelings about Ryan that anyone else. So what remains is the rags, which write anything they assume makes money and pr, which is vague enough. Reese does not want to be tied to Jake in any personal relationship. That is what is obvious, regardless of her or his movies are flops, which I think they are or will be.
There are about two pathological haters of Reese here, who can´t see the light, but I guess a lot of you may just see that she at least has no intention to make it look like they are an item.

    ReplyDelete
  195. No, Reese wants people to think they are an item but doesn't confirm or speak about it. The Vogue interview all she said was he's supportive. The interviewer called Jake her boyfriend and said he stopped by during the shoot. In Parade doesn't even say anything about him but the interviewer says Jake reportedly stays at her house when in LA-means they didn't even confirm that with Reese. I don't hate Reese, but she's most definitely a hypocrite. She complains about paps, but obviously goes out of her way to have her pics taken by them. Parade says her long friendship with Jake-if you've been dating someone for 1 1/2yrs and have your pics taken holding hands, going away together the two of you and with your kids, flying off every couple of weeks to see the guy and supposedly living together, isn't that a romantic relationship? Why by so vague in an interview? I think it's so when she ends the entire affair, Reese can turn around and say I never said he was my boyfriend. Still making herself look good and Jake pathetic. That's pretty bitchy.

  196. The 20 million figure for Reese was for a movie she was producing but it has never been made. More phoneyspoon.

Reese is If You're Going to Lie, Lie Big woman - it was $29 million for "Family Trouble".

  197. ^^^ It had to be more than $24 million (Julia Roberts) because Reese lied about being "the highest paid actress of all time".
