Dear Ted:
Does what you're doing while taping Truth, Lies & Ted have anything to do with the story you're delivering at the time? Case in point: holding a big honkin' rolling pin and telling Jake Gyllenhaal "way to go, you dude shafter."

  1. Ledger's Joker Has Last Laugh

Director Nolan Says Actor Came Up With Haunting Cackle

A record number of moviegoers packed theaters to see the new Batman blockbuster "The Dark Knight" over the weekend -- and chances are pretty good that they can't shake loose the haunting laugh from late star Heath Ledger's The Joker.

In a recent @ The Movies interview, director Christopher Nolan said that the laugh was entirely Ledger's invention. "When I was at work on the script and he was trying to figure out how to create this character, he called me to talk about a number of things, including how he was working on a laugh," Nolan said. "He wouldn't do it for me, though, he said he was just working on it."

Nolan said that it was a relief that he didn't have to guide Ledger in coming up with a cackle for one of pop culture's most iconic characters. "I think one of the hardest things for an actor is to force a laugh. The Joker has to have a great laugh, and he figured out this wonderful way of doing it," Nolan said of the actor, who died in January at age 28. "It almost sound half-hearted to me the first time I heard it, like he was holding something back."

But then, Nolan said, the full impact of Ledger's creation hit him once he saw it on film.

"Then I realized that it has this incredible kind of decay in it some it, somehow," Nolan said. "It's a mocking laugh and a creepy laugh, and I think part of the creepiness is this decay is in everything, including his makeup and the way he moves and everything. There's a sense of corruption in it."

Starring Christian Bale in the title role, "The Dark Knight," which chronicles The Joker's rise as a crime figure in Gotham City, shattered box office records throughout the weekend -- including a $66.4 million take on its opening day and more than $155 over the weekend. The sequel to the 2005 blockbuster "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight" also stars Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Morgan Freeman.

  2. Decoding Maggie-speak:

"To be that f**king incredibly outstanding in a sprawling summer popcorn movie that has all kinds of other intense sh*t going down all the time as well as a lot of non-Heath scenes with some very good other actors (ahem) ... is really an accomplishment worthy of Academy recognition."

    This is f**king good. LOL

  3. I saw TDK today and it was great! Heath was awesome and so was everyone else in the movie. The special effects are great-especially Batman jumping off a building and flying. I wonder if Jake thinks POP could make $158 million on it's opening weekend? I love Jake, but I'm thinking, video game movies are past their primes and Jake's prince will in NO way come even close to Heath's Joker. Watching the Joker, you forget it's really Heath underneath all that makeup.

  8. I really liked Maggie in TDK. I love the romance between her character and Harvey Dent. She plays her character sophisticated and strong, not a typical damsel in distress at all. That's all I'm saying, I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it! :)

  9. Well, I think there's no point to dissing Jake's work with Heath's work. They are different actors, and really, the price Heath paid for his art is ultimately too high. I would rather that Jake be a competent actor who can enjoy his work and his life, than a fallen star who gets posthumous accolades.

As some commenter on Photoshop Disasters said, "you can take out the black man, but you can't take out the black man's lower torso." At the London premiere: "Maggie Gyllenhaal, who plays assistant DA Rachel Dawes in the film, spoke of Ledger’s Oscar prospects, saying the "degree of difficulty should be incorporated into the award". "To be that incredible in a movie that's this huge, that's about so many things, is really an accomplishment."

Why would Maggie be "little upset about all the attention that Heath is getting"?
Maggie took part in the great and successful movie and I think she appreciates it.

  20. They’ve got the goods

Possibly one of the greatest benefits of having an island full of rich and famous people is that they donate way cool stuff. And this year, the well-heeled summer ressies of Martha’s Vineyard have outdone themselves with the auction items up for bid at the 30th annual Possible Dreams Auction on Aug. 3.

There’s a visit to the “Good Morning America” studio with Diane Sawyer, a visit to the set of Jake Gyllenhaal’s new flick and a hen party with “The Women” director Diane English at her Edgartown home.

And if you’re a political junkie, how about lunch with newsie Chris Wallace on the set of FOX News Channel’s “Equal Opportunity Inquisitor?” This year’s gavel-a-thon has moved to the grounds of the Outerland nightclub at the Martha’s Vineyard Airport. Admission is $25 and supports Martha’s Vineyard Community Services.

Check out www.possibledreamsauction.org for a full list of Possible Dreams.

  23. Is This A Pattern Of Behavior???

We were giving him the benefit of the doubt, but things are not looking good for Christian Bale. A new report has us reevaluating what we thought we knew of the Batman star. The actor was on set last Friday shooting Terminator 4 at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico when all of a sudden he exploded!

During one scene, the director of cinematography, messed up a shot - or so Bale thought. Christian reportedly went ballistic, screaming "I will kick your ass", amongst other harsh things.

Several hundred people - cast, crew and extras - heard the outburst. Not cool, Christian. Not cool at all!

  24. Perez is an idiot. The way everyone is ganging up on Christian reminds me very much of what used to happen to Heath.

  25. Who gives a f**k about what perez has to say?

  26. Perez is just repeating the rumor(?):

"TMZ is reporting that Christian went Bale-istic (their word) on the set of Terminator 4 last week at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.

During a scene, Shane Hurlbut (seriously), director of cinematography, screwed up a shot — at least in Christian’s mind. We’re told Bale went ballistic, screaming “I will kick your a–” along with other choice remarks. Several hundred people heard the outburst — including Military Police — which was described as “intense.”

So how do you excuse inexcusable behavior like that? Well you have your publicist release a lame statement like this one: We’re told Bale was “extremely tired and having a bad day.” He seems to be having a lot of bad days of late related to his lack of anger management. How tormented is ‘The Dark Knight’?

  32. Arrested Christian Bale 'depressed' over Heath Ledger's death

DEPRESSION caused by the death of close friend Heath Ledger and the breakdown of his marriage are the reasons behind Christian Bale's alleged assault on his family, it has been claimed. Following his arrest for allegedly assaulting his mother and sister at a London hotel, a source close to Bale told the The Daily Mail the 34-year-old has been struggling to cope of late and has trouble controlling his anger.

"He has stresses in his marriage," the source said. "He can have a terrible temper. Instead of lashing out at his wife, he sometimes lashes out at people around him." The source also alleged that the death of his The Dark Knight co-star and close friend, Heath Ledger, was taking it's toll on the star. "Without Ledger around he's found it more and more difficult to communicate with those around him, especially his family," the source said. Bale, who has been released on bail, had previously admitted to suffering from depression and bouts of insomnia.

The Welsh-born performer, 34, riding high as Hollywood's latest blockbuster film star, spent several hours at a London police station overnight before being released without charge, his Los Angeles-based spokeswoman, Jennifer Allen, said. "Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister," Ms Allen said.

"Mr Bale, who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police." She confirmed separately that the allegation was of assault, but said she knew no further details.

When asked if Bale had been arrested and released on bail, a police spokeswoman said: "A 34-year-old man has been bailed to return to a police station on a date in September." According to British media reports, Bale’s mother and sister went to police in London on Sunday night, a day before the European premiere of The Dark Knight. The Sun newspaper said police did not question Bale immediately because they didn’t want to interfere with the movie’s premiere.

In The Dark Knight, Bale plays Bruce Wayne and his caped crime-fighting alter-ego Batman. The film, which also stars the late Heath Ledger as The Joker, took in a record $US158.4 million ($162.2 million) in its opening weekend in the US. Bale was on the red carpet with co-stars Michael Caine and Maggie Gyllenhaal in central London's Leicester Square on Monday night.

A spokeswoman for the film's distributor, Warner Bros, said the police inquiry involving Bale would have no effect on the studio's international press tour for the movie, which goes next to Barcelona then on to Tokyo. "Everybody is continuing with business as usual," she said.

A martial arts enthusiast and environmental activist, Bale has often played troubled characters, first donning the cape and cowl of the brooding superhero Batman for the 2005 film Batman Begins. Starting out as a child actor who appeared in Steven Spielberg's 1987 World War II flop Empire of the Sun, he went on to such adult roles as a psychotic investment banker in American Psycho and a rancher who faces down a dangerous outlaw in last year's western, 3:10 to Yuma.

    Christian Bale:

"It was not the man in the rubber batsuit that rescued Bale, though, but a skinny lathe operator named Trevor Reznik, and a little existential thriller called The Machinist. When he read Scott Kosar's script, Bale felt he had finally found something he could throw himself into, body and soul. Actually, he would throw a lot of his body out, shedding an incredible 28kg in order to transform his 1.9m frame into the living skeleton that Reznik, the film's haunted protagonist, has become after suffering insomnia for a year. The film arrived not a moment too soon.

"I had spent weeks staring at the wall in my house out of depression because of things that had gone wrong and the choices I had made," remembers Bale. "When I read The Machinist, I just went, 'Wow! This is perfect.' I was having dreams about the character and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I felt like this one was going to save my arse, and pull me out of the depressed state I had got into."

Icelandic Actor Shooting Bruckheimer Movie in Morocco

Icelandic actor Gísli Örn Gardarsson is currently in Morocco to play one of the main parts in the new Jerry Bruckheimer movie Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Shooting began yesterday. The movie is being shot in the city of Oukaimeden, at an altitude of almost 3,000 meters in the Atlas Mountains, Fréttabladid reports.

“It is much more exotic than I expected. I thought the city would be more Western,” Gardarsson said. “It is like from 1001 Nights; snakes, monkeys and desert storms.”

Gardarsson will be involved in filming until November and the final shots are scheduled for December 12. Other actors who play key roles in the movie include Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina.

  40. "the price Heath paid for his art is ultimately too high."

The suggestion that Heath died due to playing the Joker is BS. Don’t fall for it. It started from one (planted) story that was shameless Warner Bros effort to market the film by exploiting his death. “Killing himself for the role” was the angle they couldn’t resist because they knew it would excite every kind of morbid curiosity. (Next, they came up with “see the film to pay tribute to the departed.”)

None of the credible people who worked with Heath on-set have said he was losing it over the role. He himself said it was the most fun he’d ever had.

However, he was in anguish over the breakdown of his relationship and (virtual) loss of his daughter. Even the challenges of an iconic role can't match what beating yourself up over your failures can do. Add physical pain to psychic pain, and a stupid habit of self-medicating, and you have the senseless end to a life that had barely begun.

And now Christian Bale is having a meltdown “due to his role as Batman.”

    It's not that simple.

  47. Dark Knight of the Soul

As The Dark Knight opens and I contemplate the prospect of seeing a great performance marred by the sadness that accompanies that age old saying “the darlings of the gods die young”. I look back to the performance that received the great praise, if not the Oscar, that everyone thought he would have time to win. When Brokeback Mountain came out a I wrote a review of it for my students to analyse and criticise, which they did. I quite liked it, so, since I don’t get to do early reviews any more - here’s a reminder of the maturity of a performance now only an echo of the life.

    BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN
    Dir. Ang Lee

“Oh surely that’s not an issue any more!” cry the ranks of middle class, reconstructed sophisticates who have long since decided that they lack prejudice, for them the issue of homophobia is done and dusted – problem solved. Or is it?

Interesting then, that the location for the much hyped movie Brokeback Mountain was not in fact Wyoming, but Alberta, local town, Calgary where (and I have this from a very reliable source) men drive three to a truck for fear of their relationship being misunderstood if they go in pairs, and that’s in 2006, problem not solved.

Whilst recent audiences might remember Ang Lee’s directorial prowess in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon those of us of a certain age remember The Ice Storm, the story of a dysfunctional middle class American family. Ang Lee can not only direct actors and CGI in the use of chi high up in the bamboo, but he is able to portray the infinitesimal nuances of the conflicted mind. Even so it’s still set against scenery of magnificent power and I don’t just mean Heath Ledger!

Brokeback Mountain is the story of doomed love. In another age it would have been the story of Jew and Gentile, Capulet and Montagu, of black and white. But now it is a story about love in the 60s, the time of free love, it is about homosexuality at a time when that was most definitely not free, it was illegal.

The writer E Annie Proulx presumably took the semiotics of Marlboro country, the ultimately macho cowboy smoking himself to death (which they both do in the film) and juxtaposed it with the idea of homosexual love, a concept that in the darkest corner of any outback has been covered with ideas of male bonding and needing to be close in order to combat and protect men from the vagaries of nature.

The film takes the semiotics of those cowboys and sets them against the cinematic scenery of mountains, dominated by unpredictable weather, populated by the occasional predator and the ubiquitous bear, and isolation. Ang Lee’s eye for nature is as keen as is his understanding of the human face and the two cowboys (actually they’re shepherds) Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger are clearly guests on the mountain.

When they come down from the mountain and they have known each other (I use both terms Biblically). They are trapped by their love for each other and the dangers of a society that does not consent to it, into deceiving their wives, their friends and all who love them, by setting up assignations on the pretext of fishing trips.

Heath Ledger’s performance has been much praised and it is much merited. His monosyllabic performance typical of the outbacker, no doubt draws on his Aussie experience of the Australian equivalent, the outback stockman. And the rodeo riding Jake Gyllenhaal puts in a strong performance as someone who literally is a temptress. The men’s love scenes mix need and violence, desire and denial with huge authenticity. The women too, temper their performances between portrayals of prejudice and desperation, love and hate with skill and sympathy. The outback attitude reaches its, inevitable, tragic, climax effectively.

As for me, it took me back to the days of Circle T rodeo in Darwin, in the 1970s where men rode bulls, the women cooked them and being gay either meant being happy or being dead.

    Problem solved?

  48. Ted brought up Montreal, and filming TDAT, the conversation continued on the Montreal theme and then Jake did the taxi driver schtick, Ted then brought up the gay marriage in Canada, you said originally Jake did,and as through out the story Ted adds his own thoughts, he says "Jake thought, wow, everyone here is gay" but Jake didn't say that was Ted's interpetation of part of Jake's story. Since Ted writes fan fic, I guess it's hard for him to not do that did as you see:

Lisa, beyond any understanding, was able to keep it together, and as if on cue, Ted jumped in with a very upbeat, “So, Jake, have you ever been to Montreal?”

The question caused everyone to laugh in a light way, and allowed a change in subject to something less intense which was greatly needed at this point.

Jake responded, “Actually, I have, I spend six months there filming The Day After Tomorrow, but it was fucking freezing. We were there in winter so.”

“Oh, so you don’t have the greatest memories of it then?” Ted asked jokingly.

“No, no it’s a wonderful city, I loved it there. Most of my family at one time or another have filmed in Montreal, but mostly in summer,” and with emphasis he added, “which I have heard was very nice.” Jake said the last bit with a bit of sarcasm in his voice, as it seemed his family got the summer schedule and he got the winter schedule to his chagrin.

“Well, it’s considered a bit of Europe in North American, with the French culture and all,” Ted said proudly.

Jake then got very animated, and putting on a fake French accent told a funny story about his taxi driver Pierre, who was talking to him and kept on going on about his partner, and how everyone in Montreal had a partner, as the words wife or husband aren’t used very often, and Jake thought, wow, everyone is gay here, and he ended in a flourish waving his hands, saying, “as in Montreal, they’re gay and they’re gay!”

Ted made a quick reference to same-sex marriage being allowed in Canada, and Jake responded, “Yeah, it’s great, anyone can get married up there.”

Here's the truth that I know:

Britney Spears is a closeted bisexual who generally prefers women and has had a longterm affair with Paris Hilton (I know, I know). She will never come out. Half of her breakdowns come from cognitive dissonance created between her not-so-towering intellect, her not-so-adhered-to religion, and her taste for pussy, usually from strippers.

Lindsay Lohan is a lesbian, not so closeted these days, who is in a relationship with Samantha Ronson and previously has slept with Paris Hilton, as well as being the lover of a much older woman for several years.

Balthazar Getty - I have no information.

Paris Hiltonn - has slept with many women and men alike (including both Lindsay and Britney) and is currently, and not so seriously, bangin' tacos with Kimberly Stewart.

Tom Cruise - a classic Narnia closet case. He has had bizarre orchestrated liaisons with men in the past (the wrestling stories are true), but these days I would suggest he is so controlled and closeted he isn't getting any at all, so I am reluctant to label him as gay. Let's just call him repressed and fucked up (unimaginably).

Angelina Jolie - girl has had more pussy than Warren Beatty. She is a genuine bisexual and she has never lied about it, though her recent hetero-normative life has more to do with keeping one area of her life "controlled" while she spins out on drugs.

Brad Pitt - what I have heard (this is hearsay, now) is that he has had some liaisons with men, but generally prefers women. Nice guy.

To sum up: of the 6 people on your list (Getty not counted), fully 5 of them are enthusiastic bisexuals and at least 2 lean primarily towards same-sex only. I had to comment because that list was So. Ludicrous. (when you really know what's going on)

What do closeted actors (male) do for fun?

"I have been to a few all-male parties that closeted A and B list actors attended. They are at-home parties. Surprisingly privacy seems to be respected. Young or hot older guys are introduced to stars through these parties, things go from there. Friends loan friends, cabins, boats, homes, etc. for meetings. There is a side of Hollywood - sort of the 'home crowd' that nobody sees or seems to care about. Guys have BFs or partners it all seems pretty relaxed."

    -------

"So here's how one happened. I have a friend who is an artistic type. He and his partner are friends of mine. I have known them for a long time. I went to stay with them. They were going to a party and I was invited to come along. When we pulled into the driveway XXX an A-star was pulling up and getting out of his car. I was shocked to see him and my friends asked me to be cool and not make a big deal about it. There were a couple of other actors at the party who I didn't recognize, but they were pointed out to me. The party was pretty laid back, just a lot of talking, eating and hanging out. The host was an older gay man who owned the house. The place was cool. The star (who was married with kids and an Oscar(I think) ) and I hit it off and we spent a few days together shopping, going around, doing normal things. People recognized him all the time (this was interesting to watch, how people handled it). The star liked the attention, he was nice to them and to me. He insisted on buying me some clothes, nothing terribly expensive, he just said I was badly dressed. He said you can always tell if a man has money by his shoes and his shirts."

There are from when I stayed in Los Angeles a few years ago and bunked with some Hollywood bit players and assorted crew members. Enjoy!

#1 What dashing heartthrob is a secret butt pirate? The B+ list actor has been seen with more than a few beauties but word on the downlow is that he has a kept boyfriend whom he prefers to whatever eye candy he currently has on his arm. A gay extra on the set of one of his hit films (of which he had many in a short period of time) noticed the young actor almost desperately going out of his way to befriend the openly or perceivably gay members of the crew and extras, even going so far as to try and invite himself to different get togethers formed by cast and crew members who'd befriended one another. On the set of the sequel, the extra noticed the same borderline predatory behavior and made a point to avoid the actor, to no avail. Later, after many failed attempts on the part of the actor to befriend the gay extra, a frightening incident occured. One night after leaving the set with a few others, he noticed a familiar black SUV in the rear view mirror, with an even more familiar face behind the wheel. It was the actor. After a wild goose chase across Hollywood in which the young men were clearly being followed, it ended as abruptly as it started, coming to a stop when the SUV mysteriously gunned in an opposite direction after the young men pulled through a gas station. To top it off, there are still longstanding rumors that he and another key player in another very successful film franchise had a long term relationship for the lengthy duration of filming on the (overseas) set. I can't give you any strong hints (well, I did give one at the beginning of the paragraph) but I can tell you that both his first and last name could be found in a dictionary.

#2 More gay actors! This muscle bound hunk has a sexy, distinctive voice and quite the charming smile. While in the past he's said that he doesn't spend excessively on women for the first date, he doesn't seem to have the same philosophy with his real dates--the boys. In an incident 'round a cocaine dusted coffee table, he brashly prepositioned a young man, bragging of his status and material goods and how expendable they were in light of his cash. He arrogantly threw his Rolex on the table, money from his wallets, anything of value, in an effort to show not only how rich he was but how little he cared for it in light of trying to bed the lad, whatever the price. Alas, he was turned down. Its because of these tales that another one earlier this year caused shock with the rent boys and the young gay wannabes of Hollywood. Our hulking, shaven headed action star became a father. The pregnancy and birth were not publicized, and the star was never actually seen with the woman in question, raising the question as to the nature of how the child was conceived. Yes, I'm not the only one that has expressed their suspicions about our high octane actor (with some producing credits). And while our actor in #1 had both first and last names you could find in a dictionary, this actor only has one like that. And I won't tell you which one it is.

"How about we actors who have dreamed of being actors, only to find out how many doors are shut to us because of the Hollywood closeting system? Don't we have a right to happiness, too?

As an actor, I have personally suffered because of the homophobia in the industry (and - very rarely - been rewarded because of the homophilia). I made a vow to myself that I could not be a closet case. I saw how it fucked up every relationship from lover to parent to friend to, even, your relationship with the audience. But the worst thing it ever does is fuck up your relationship with yourself, because it means that you are saying that being gay is shameful, and that straight people are worth more than you.

I have had limited success as an actor - though some - and now I am leaning more towards directing while still acting in, yes, quirky indie projects. This suits me fine - I am sure there were a million other compromises of ethics that I would have had to have made as a Hollywood "success" that have nothing to do with sexuality.

I have my soul. I have my self respect. I have a partner I adore that I don't have to hide. Most importantly, I don't have to let people who are my moral inferiors make me feel like *I'm* the pervert and they've got one-up on me because I'm hiding something. That's saying a lot."

  89. Heath Ledger Bar Moves Forward

Heath Ledger's father proceeded with funding a nautically-themed bar in Greenpoint, in which Ledger had been a silent partner. The guy who designed Beatrice is involved:

A BAR HEATH WILL LONG HAUNT

HEATH Ledger's memory will live on in Brooklyn, and not just in the Cobble Hill home he shared with girlfriend Michelle Williams. The Down by the Hipster Web site reports that before his death in January, Ledger was a silent investor in a Greenpoint bar called Five Leaves, described as "a nautically-themed bar . . . at the corner of Lorimer and Bedford." The watering hole was designed and built by John McCormick, who also designed Smith & Mills in Tribeca and the Beatrice Inn in the West Village - a celeb magnet where Ledger was often spotted. Ledger's "untimely death put the project in jeopardy," the site reports, but because Ledger's father, Kim Ledger, the executor of his estate, "knew how much the project meant to Heath," he "released the funds to finish construction."

Heath Ledger's Nick Drake Video Hits The Web (Warning: Depressing)

One of the last things Heath Ledger left us with is a video for Nick Drake's "Black Eyed Dog." An admitted obsession of the actor, Drake was a British folk music prodigy in the '70s who suffered from debilitating depression, eventually O.D.ing on an antidepressant at age 26. Until now, the video managed to avoid getting leaked on the web, and was screened only twice: "Labor Day weekend at the Bumbershoot festival in Seattle and a second time in October at 'A Place to Be,' an event honoring Drake held in L.A." Last night, Australian A Current Affair broadcast parts of the video.

Try, if you can, to tune out the grating commentators speculating as to Ledger's state of mind when he made this, and instead focus of the gorgeous "Dog" melody (so named for Winston Churchill's famous description of depression), and Heath's haunting, black and white visual accompaniment. The final scene, which they deem "too graphic for us to broadcast," reportedly depicts Ledger drowning himself in a baththub. Once you're done watching, we then suggest you hang out with these furry BFFs for a little while.

Unfortunately Heath didn't update his will and didn't leave anything to Matilda, except the two houses in N.Y. in L.A. he bought while with Michelle. The houses belong to him, Michelle and Matilda. The rest of his estate belongs to his dad, mother, sister and two stepsisters. I hope Heath's dad will be fair enough and give Matilda her part, despite the fact she's not included in the will.

Heath Ledger's daughter Matilda's estate claim decision

HEATH Ledger's daughter Matilda Rose's claim to his estate will be decided in an Australian court.

The executors of the late actor's will, drawn up before Matilda's birth, have applied for probate in the West Australian Supreme Court in Perth. While Ledger left everything to his parents and three sisters, it is understood they have legal advice that under WA law, the toddler is entitled to the lion's share. However her mother, actor Michelle Williams, will have to officially lodge a claim with the court supported by an affidavit which could end up in the public domain, legal experts said. Matilda had no idea of the drama on the other side of the world as she was carried on the shoulders of her dad's best friend, Trevor Di Carlo, in New York last week.

Di Carlo, 29, mates with Ledger from the age of three, has been staying with Williams in Brooklyn, spending as much time as he can with two-year-old Matilda. It has led to speculation of a romance. Trevor's mum, Dianne Di Carlo, told The Daily Telegraph yesterday that he was just very close friends with Williams. "Michelle and he are the best of friends," Ms Di Carlo said. "It is a very special time for him to be with Matilda."

Ledger's father Kim, mother Sally Bell and sister Kate, 32, will be catching up with Matilda while in New York to attend today's premiere of the Batman sequel The Dark Knight, which has led to calls for Ledger to be nominated for a posthumous Oscar for his chilling portrayal of the Joker.

The executors of Ledger's estate, businessman Robert Collins and accountant Mark Dyson, late last week advertised in Perth's daily newspaper for "creditors and other persons" having claims on the estate to lodge them by August 11. This is to ensure all debts are paid before the estate is distributed, local lawyer Edwin Abdo said. According to documents filed in a New York court after Ledger died in January, he only had $145,000 worth of assets in the US, but his entire fortune, mostly held in Australian trusts, is likely to be worth up to $20 million. Mr Dyson yesterday said he had no comment.

    Maybe A 25 Year Old Man--Maybe

Wow two in a row about Star. The cover of Star this week says that Matthew Broderick has been cheating on the mole-less one Sarah Jessica Parker with some 25 year old redhead. Oh, they say the redhead is a woman.

Not buying it. You tell me that he is doing a man dressed as a woman then I might believe it. Forget everything about anything you have ever heard or speculated about SJP and Matthew Broderick. Open marriage, beard, loving committed marriage, whatever. Doesn't matter for the sake of this post. What does matter is this. What is one of the best indicators that a man is having an affair whether it be with a man or a woman?

He changes his style or appearance or starts buying new clothes. Something that indicates he is actually trying again. I know you ladies might find it hard to believe, but some of us men have been known to kind of give up after we get into a relationship. I know, I know, that hard, youthful body with a full head of hair has given way, well to something that makes you want to cry yourself to sleep at night.

Have you seen the photos I have been posting of Matthew Broderick over the past six weeks? If anything the guy has got more lazy, not less. His clothes are horrible and his appearance makes him look like he gives up a little more each day. At this point I'm wondering how come he hasn't broken out the sweats or the Zubaz pants. (BTW, they are making a comeback)

What I do think is that people forget that during the run of The Producers, Matthew was photographed out with a young redhead then. Or was she a brunette? Who the hell cares, but he was. Now, maybe he is allowed to get a little on the side, or maybe it is all made up to make him look more manly, or maybe he finds them and brings them home to SJP. The thing is the facts of this are just really similar to the story from last year.

You read the article here, and then you decide.

Neil Patrick Harris Talks 'Mother,' 'Harold and Kumar' and More

Emmy-nominated actor Neil Patrick Harris [nominated for his second consecutive Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series] was online Thursday, July 24 at 10 a.m. ET to take your questions about his life and his work on "How I Met Your Mother," "Doogie Howser MD," the "Harold and Kumar" films, the online musical "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" and more.

    -----
Chicago: Hello Mr. Harris, I was wondering if it annoys you that a straight actor will get all sorts of credit for playing a gay man, yet you don't see the same kind of praise when a gay man plays someone who is straight. For example, I don't hear reviewers say, "Oh, what a committed actor Neil Patrick Harris is. It is so brave of him to make out with Cobie Smulders on HIMYM." What do you think of the obvious double standard?

Neil Patrick Harris: Honestly, I think we're all just actors. Gays should play straight, straight should play gay. It's really just a character, and hopefully it's the best actor that gets the job.
    -----
    -----
Huntington Beach, Calif.: Caught you and Laurie Metcalf in a wonderful "All My Sons" at the Geffen Playhouse...how often do the boards come-a-callin' to you?

Neil Patrick Harris: Nice! Thanks. Laurie was just stellar in "All My Sons." A great treat to share the stage with her. Plus, she's a gentle kisser. I miss theatre a lot. Just saw "In The Heights" on Broadway last night, and if that won't inspire one to get up and sing, I don't know what will. It's a great discipline.
    -----
    -----
Edmonton, Alberta: Do you have a director or actor that you would love to work with but haven't yet had the chance?

Neil Patrick Harris: Director: David Fincher or Christopher Guest. Actor: Joseph Gordon-Levitt
    -----
    -----
Brooklyn: Can you tell us a little about how your decision to be out and proud Hollywood actor? And how your career is different being out as to being closeted. So many actors and actresses face this decision, so I'm wondering if there are significant consequences that make people choose one way or another.

Neil Patrick Harris: I think it's important to stand tall, whoever you are. In any situation. It may alter a career, but if you approach it with dignity, I don't think it'll destroy you. It just makes you dive deeper into the given role... Don't be afraid of the consequences. Life happens.
    -----
    -----
Damn: I'm straight and I think I'd go out with you. Probably upset the wife and kids, though. So what do you think happened to Doogie? Did he grow up, buy a Porsche and start a family practice in the suburbs?

Neil Patrick Harris: He probably developed an addiction to painkillers and wanders around with a cane at some hospital somewhere...

OK, was going to do the Blind Vice story on the Academy Award-friendly actress who thinks her cats can read, which is why she has their names written on their separate litter boxes, but that tale simply pales in comparison to Toothy Tile, who’s back and gayer than, like, ever! T2 says he’s havin’ such a fab gay ol’ experience of it all because he’s “sure,” as it’s been relayed to this columnist, that the true identity of Mr. Tile will never, ever be discussed by yours truly. Oh, really? Is that so?

Heath Ledger's drug intake before his death indicated it was likely he was an addict, America's best known addiction expert says.
The Los Angeles-based Dr Pinsky said Ledger's drug consumption was not a secret in Hollywood.

"There were people who were very concerned about his drug use in this town before he died," Dr Pinsky said in an interview.

An autopsy found Ledger, the 28-year-old Australian star of the global box office hit The Dark Knight, died in his Manhattan apartment in January from an accidental overdose of six different drugs, including narcotic painkillers, anti-anxiety pills and sleep medication.
The straight-talking doctor, head of Los Angeles' Las Encinas Hospital's department of chemical dependency services and a high-profile figure on American TV, said Ledger was another casualty of a prescription drug abuse epidemic.

"We see this all the time," Dr Pinsky said. "We have an absolute epidemic of patients dying exactly the way he died - drug addicts."

Asked if he thought Ledger was a drug addict, the doctor replied: "I don't know him, but I've never seen a patient die of that kind of reckless combination of medicine that wasn't a drug addict."
Dr Pinsky has become a household name in the US as star and producer of the US reality TV series, Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew, and the host of a long-running American radio and TV advice show.

The Celebrity Rehab TV series makes its Australian debut on Foxtel's Bio channel on August 4.

Bumps in the Day: Jake Gyllenhaal sure as hell lives to get the gossies in gonzo overdrive. Why, just this week, right after J.G. did Letterman, all shy 'n’ stuff, he pulls the same don’t-look-at me routine down in the Village—almost.

Desk Stealth just followed J.G. and his gorgeous amigo, a dead ringer for Austin Nichols (would just go ahead and say it was A.N. here, but, like, maybe Jakey’s pullin’ a Natalie Portman, choosing to hang with an Austin doppelgänger just to throw us snit-snoops off the mark?) for several blocks. Too fun for the ab-perf tum! D.S. embarked on an intrepid block-by-block Jake-athon, stealing close behind just for us, too kind.

“They could have walked to the ferry, and I still would have followed them,” admits our pavement detective, so refreshingly honest (see, always loved those NY types, this is only one reason why). “All the while, they kept walking close to each other, like they were purposely trying to bump into each other, ya know what I mean?”

We do, you baddie bro, we do! So, do continue:
“At one point they had their heads briefly touching each other,” D.S. practically breathlessly relayed. “A short time after that came the friend's arm around Jake and the whisper to the ear. Then, the whole block before they got to West 12th Street," said the onlooker, J.G. & A.N. did a little digital dance. "Oh so cute!”
Deliciously so! But wait. We simply have to get ahold of ourselves here. See, before you nasty naughties out there start cackling, like, totally inappropriate things here, can’t two guys show affection for each other (just like women do) without people going to all sorts of kooky conclusions? Not to mention their publicists' speed dials…
I mean, John Travolta does it all the time! What’s the biggie?

Denim Addendum: “Both had on blue jeans wrapped around perfect butts,” added our boyish spy, above, for the really important deets. Jake’s dude-pal/whatever “probably had the better butt,” sassed our unsubtle source. “It was slightly rounder, and his jeans fit a bit more snuggly.”

Sorry, Jakey, I know how it feels. I’m still smarting from the time Defamer blabbed I have no behind. So not true! I took a pic and showed the hateful folks how wrong they were, will you please now do the same for us? We’re waiting...high-quality pics preferred!

    October 19, 2007

    Digit Dig-It

Textually active celebs such as Carmen Electra and Jeremy Piven hit the Sidekick LX Launch Wednesday night. Shanna Moakler and Travis Barker worked the pink carpet, hand in hand (rather Jake Gyllenhaal and Austin Nichols-esque, too divine!)

  115. ... he’s quite aware the hunt for his identity is on. And has been for sometime. Says he enjoys it, even.

    Really?

    ReplyDelete
  116. T2 says he’s havin’ such a fab gay ol’ experience of it all because he’s “sure,” as it’s been relayed to this columnist, that the true identity of Mr. Tile will never, ever be discussed by yours truly. Oh, really? Is that so? Just don’t count on it, bud. What with the myriad lies to the public (I mean, really, you’re as bad about your true sexual persuasion as Cathy Douglas is with her age), you're on thin vice, babe, so watch it.

Why is Ted pissed with Jake?

    ReplyDelete
  117. I think Ted is piss off with the system. Jake feels safe now because with Reeke and getting a blockbuster, he is protected by the silent pact between Hollywood and the media. Even if someone outs him, it won’t be repeated or published anywhere and it will even come back to discredit the person who dared to hint that ‘Jake is gay’. The mainstream won’t even question. doubt or think he is any other but straight, so Jake must feel “untouchable” now. It’s very sad but PR accomplished its goal.

    ReplyDelete
  118. It’s very sad but PR accomplished its goal.

Hollywood is one big PR team, but the truth is out there :)

    ReplyDelete
  119. exactly, 4:56 AM. No wonder he feels comfortable boasting about only doing films for the money and fame. I really hope PoP flops big time. What will you do then, Jakey?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Even if someone outs him, it won’t be repeated or published anywhere and it will even come back to discredit the person who dared to hint that ‘Jake is gay’.

Saying "X is gay" is not outing. Presenting proof that X is gay is outing.

Chad Allen was outed, Perez saying over and over again that Went is gay isn't outing.

    ReplyDelete
  121. How about the pic of Travolta kissing a guy? Nothing happened. It would be the same with Jake. Even with proof, he is protected by Hollywood and the media.

And straight people presume that everyone else is straight - Jake has nothing to worry about! lol

    ReplyDelete
  124. "How about the pic of Travolta kissing a guy? Nothing happened. It would be the same with Jake."

I don't know about that. Travolta been around a long time and is more of a Hollywood legend to the public. Jake is much younger and gay rumours have dogged him for a long time. When the horse riding pics came out, alot of gossip sites expressed their bearding opinions. Baur-Griffen said Jake was bearding and should just come out. I don't think it would be that hard to convince people.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Another case is the pics of Kevin Spacey making out with a guy in a park. Nothing happened either. My point is even with proof, PR will do some damage control, stage some more bearding photo ops, plant some info and it’s back to straight again.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Actors are commodities. They make money for the studios that own them. The powerful companies like Disney will do anything to protect their property. Jake has already signed on the dotted line. If Ted did out Jake as Toothy it wouldn't make a damn bit of difference. I agree with above you would get ignore and much more of Reeke Inc.
Everyone in HW knows Jake is gay. Until he says the word and is on record to the public he is perceived as straight.

    ReplyDelete
  127. So what do you think happened to Doogie?

NPH: He probably developed an addiction to painkillers and wanders around with a cane at some hospital somewhere...

Those pictures were never published, right?

    ReplyDelete
  132. DL gossip:

"There is said to be another set of pics with WM kissing a guy ..assumed to be Luke... in Hancock Park. These pics are also said to have not been released for legal reasons. So they may or may not ever surface."
    ....

"Why would any agency sit on these supposed pics? Remember when the Enquirer published the pics of Chad Allen? I find it hard to believe that these photos, especially if they are scandalous, would not be published. I could be wrong, but why would they protect Wentworth Miller?

    Okay, crash course...

Take Chad Allen out of the equation for starters because he was a TV actor and not a popular, marketable filmstar or TV buff bod.

So, were talking about someone who IS marketable to the masses, say Wentworth Miller. Now then, you're a media agency like TMZ and some pap comes up to you and offers you some pics that show male actor getting visibly jiggy with actor B in a private residential place somewhere.

You buy these pictures off the pap but you don't publish them. Why? Because, if you publish them and therefore OUT the popular closeted star, YOU become the one that is blacklisted within the industry and acting agencies (big powerhouses like CAA and William Morris) cut you out of the equation when it comes to favors, scoops, exclusives, etc. They make sure that you get a reputation as a bad business that outs fellow industry people and they play it so that the public feels so sorry for said actor it turns against you..."WHY did you out him? You're disgusting! There was no need to out him!" etc etc. Then nobody buys your product or reads your site and bit by bit you go out of business, getting a bad reputation around town as an outlet that outs its own and is considered untrustworthy and sleazy. The industry knows the fraus will just turn round and scream "we didn't need to know he was gay!"

And Hollywood is self-generating. Media agencies NEED actors and their agents as much as vice versa. They all try and keep one another sweet while they are popular and on the rise. Everything hinges on cohesion. Nobody wants to be the one with the reputation for outing someone because it can badly backfire and you can end up out of a job or with people not trusting you, as explained. There is a LOT of trust in Hollywood and it's a fine line between breaking that trust and overstepping the mark for money, etc.

  133. Everyone in HW knows Jake is gay. Until he says the word and is on record to the public he is perceived as straight.

Wentworth, 36, doesn't date for years, no beards, Perez is after him.
Rumors won't go away, but Went's "I want a wife and kids" is good enough for the general public.

  134. Ted lashed out once before when someone on the blogs was saying nasty things about him. Back in the WFT1 days. From the sounds of the BI, Toothy is being pretty open about his preferences these days and is taunting Ted. He wants to be outed, deep down, so he yet may get his wish. You can't tell me that there aren't pictures somewhere. Remember the photoshopped beach and deck pics. Someone has the originals.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Lashed out at the blogger?

    ReplyDelete
  136. Remember the photoshopped beach and deck pics. Someone has the originals.

    Good point.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Ted said he's back, but "not using his crotch" which means non-sexual. The out door sex comment was used as titilation because didn't Ted say that he gave that up? So it isn't being open about his preferences that is pissing Ted off because he would have mentioned it, back to his nelly ways which surprised him makes no sense because he has never described TT as nelly.

I think back to the old nelly ways was a way of referencing the horse pictures, campy but I also think Jake was mocking.

The family Jake Reese pics, the gossip about a wedding and the moving stories along with his readers pushing for him to out him, it's more frustrating.

HW has known that who Ted was talking about for 3 years, and Jake has known for that amount of time that everyone knows so why is this news to Ted?

As usual, no one has told this to Ted, I can't imagine being overseas and filming that he would have time to be thinking about Ted and TT and then telling friends so he they can update Ted, he hasn't been updated in a while.

Ted has sat back hoping others would out him using his TT tales, ie J.Jaxson and it was treated as a joke.

A year later, according to the rags, Jake and Reese are living together, bond with the kids etc after Ted predicted they would break up. It's making him look bad and most gossip columnist would give 2 shits but this is all Ted has and he is pissed.

I wonder if the MV rumors reached him, that would set him off.

Jake isn't dumb enough to do something to screw things up with Disney because they could easlily replace him.

Last Januasy while Jake was doing PR for Zodiac, a NY reporter asked him what happens to a gossip columnist that drink too much something like that, I think the writer was with the NY daily news and was drinking wine at the time.
Jake responded: He mentioned something about karma and they would get what's coming to them. The writer thought that he was referring to him but I thought of Ted right away. If Jake has it in for ole Ted and he is taking his time, then the stuff with Reese is just the begiining.

PS: If you check lainey's archives going back to Jan. '06, she mentions Jake being pissed at the attention Heath was getting for BBM, pissed at his people for "Dropping the ball" with Jarhead, Kiki for dragging him down (the drug rumors were full blast and he reunited wwith her in '05 against the wishes of his family and PR) and pissed at Ted for making people think he was TT, so clearly if you believe Lainey, this was on his mind for over 2 years.

"Ted is connecting Jake to Toothy with the “men gossip more than women” clue:

On June 25, 2008 he mentioned that Jake Gyllenhaal is looking for a new assistant:

“But don’t bother applying if you’re a guy. Insiders knowledgeable with the star who’s dating the chick known for always buying two calendars (in case one gets too smudgy half way through the year), say Gyllenhaal is more interested in a female assistant. Doesn’t surprise moi, really, ‘cause everybody knows men gossip more than women. Known fact, babe-cakes.”

In this BI about Toothy Tile:

“The pretty boy (man, on occasion) is gleefully telling more than a few gossipy girls—which means boys, natch, in highly exaggerated fagola speak, but then, I’m sure you already knew that, hon-cakes —that he’s quite aware the hunt for his identity is on.”

Human maybe but it's still very small of him to be pissed at attention Heath was getting and pissed at not getting a nomination for Jarhead. Jarhead (#23,453 on Amazon) is not ranked anywhere in the same league as BBM (#3,655) by critics or the public so if he expected more acclaim, he was dreaming.

Kiki, well, he went to places where the paps could catch them - remember poolside shots - so how pissed was he about her? As for Ted, you know Jake likes the attention and gets a big kick out of the TT saga. If you believe Ted's latest, he is still bragging and laughing about it.

If you check out IHJ you will see Jake and Kiki at the Venice FF promoting BBM in Aug., then check the site for pics of the Toronto FF for BBm, no Kiki even though they were still together. Maggie and his parents were at that festival too, they no longer approved of Kiki, she was there promoting Elizabethtown but they kept Kiki and Jake apart. One report claimed that he heard Jake tell Maggie to mind her business (they were arguing about Kiki).

So it's kind of hypocritical of him to blame Kiki for draggin him down when he was very happy to get bcak together with her earlier.
