Hot for Girls, Gross for Guys

Female stars, including Angelina Jolie and Drew Barrymore, have revealed past relationships with women and haven't seen their careers hurt in the least because of it. But among male actors, owning up to experimentation is all but verboten. Why the double standard?

"I'm not sure what that's based on anymore, other than the idea that leading men have to be virile and masculine in order for them to be viable for big roles," said Corey Scholibo, arts and entertainment editor of The Advocate. "For women, it seems that women and, of course, men will still accept them if they admit to experimentation in the past." …

But the fact that actresses seem able to reveal bisexuality without negative repercussions may not point to acceptance as much as society's desire to see them, first and foremost, as sex objects.

"It's great that women have more flexibility to experience those relationships without being penalized, but I think it's because women are taken less seriously in general," said Jennifer Baumgardner, author of "Look Both Ways: Bisexual Politics." "It's like, 'So what if they were fooling around?' When two men who were thought to be straight have sex, it's perceived as more serious."

Maybe that's why so few men in Hollywood are willing to talk about experimenting with other guys. Alan Cumming is the only major actor to call himself bisexual, but with his scrawny stature and preference for theater and indie flicks, he was classified as eccentric long before talking about his sexuality.

While E! online gossip columnist Ted Casablanca claims male actors "absolutely" fool around with the same sex as much as their female counterparts, he doubts he'll see a day when a hunky, A-list, alpha-male -- a Jake Gyllenhaal (who made waves when he starred as a gay cowboy in "Brokeback Mountain") or a Chace Crawford (the "Gossip Girl" pretty boy rumored to be gay) -- talks about it publicly.

"The public just doesn't know about it. It's still Hollywood's biggest, dirtiest secret -- absolutely always will be," Casablanca said. "The business is built on fantasy. If Joe is talking about how he likes to go around with Kenny, it doesn't work. But if Jenny wants to talk about getting it on with Katie, it sells tickets."

Casting directors and network executives contacted for this story were reluctant to talk about how the employability of actors, male and female, changes when they reveal they don't conform to the heterosexual norm. But while the bulk of bisexual Hollywood may still be in the closet, many gay actors have come out in recent years and haven't hurt their careers because of it.

"We've had a spate of them recently: David Hyde Pierce, Lance Bass; Neil Patrick Harris came out and still has his role as a womanizing man on 'How I Met Your Mother,'" Scholibo said. "Anytime someone comes out and says, 'I'm going to keep doing what I'm going to do,' it opens up the door for the public to accept a new kind of gayness which encompasses every kind of representation. But whether they owe it to us, I don't know."

TONIGHT: THE NETWORK TELEVISION PREMIERE OF...

Yes, that's right folks. So where do you think this will happen? NBC, ABC, FOX? Logo? No, but NBC Universal- owned BRAVO has a somewhat gay- themed schedule tonight (and that is definitely not a first for America's gayest mainstream TV channel). At 7/6c there's the GLAAD Awards (yaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn) and then at 9/8c the special THREE HOUR presentation of BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. Of course, expect this to be heavily edited for language ("Jack *BEEEEEP*ing Twist.") and sexual situations, but I guess you can already call it progress that the film is shown on non- premium American television at all.

Not at home on Friday night? Not to worry, over the next couple of days BRAVO will show the film again and again and again...

  2. Dark Knight Selling Out Three Weeks Early

Batman fans anxious to get a glimpse of the late Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker are snatching up tickets online more than three weeks before The Dark Knight's July 17 premiere.

Dozens of midnight screenings of director Christopher Nolan's second installment in the bat-franchise have sold out, causing theaters across the country to tack on 3 a.m. showings to meet fan demand, according to online ticket retailer Fandango.

"We are currently seeing a surge in advance ticket sales," said Ted Hong, vice president of marketing for Fandango, which first began selling tickets for Dark Knight last Friday. "It makes sense that there's a rush for tickets -- it looks action-packed and film fans are anxious to see Heath Ledger."

When Fandango polled members back in March to determine which summer blockbusters its customers were most interested in, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull took first place, with Dark Knight coming in second. However, the scramble for advance Dark Knight tickets is currently outpacing Indy 4's presale numbers.

Exhibitor Relations box office analyst Jeff Bock said he thinks the presale surge was to be expected.

"This movie comes in riding a wave of hype [Batman Begins] didn't," said Bock. He also attributes the rush to fans anxious to see Ledger portray Batman's warped nemesis in what could be the actor's last on-screen performance. Ledger died in January of an overdose of prescription drugs at age 28. Joel Cohen, executive vice president at ticketing hub MovieTickets.com, said Dark Knight is doing remarkably well, even though advance sales for Nolan's previous bat-flick, Batman Begins, were practically nonexistent in 2005.

"It's tracking much stronger than Spider-Man 3 at the same time in the sales cycle," he said. Director Sam Raimi's second Spidey sequel went on last year to set the record for best opening weekend ever.

A massive viral-marketing campaign for Dark Knight, along with a glowing advance review by Rolling Stone film critic Peter Travers, is adding fuel to bat-fire. Exhibitor Relations' Bock predicts the Warner Bros. film could push well beyond $100 million in its opening weekend. In May, Marvel's superhero flick Iron Man garnered $102.1 million during its opening weekend, while Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull pulled in $100.1 million.

The question on the tip of every fanboy and girl's tongue is, will this film be able to outpace Spider-Man 3's record-shattering opening weekend of $151 million? "That record would be really tough to break," said Bock. "But we're expecting really big things."

Nelson Mandela concert: Amy Winehouse shines as stars celebrate his 90th birthday

"He may be 90 now, but he can certainly still draw a crowd.

And last night, as Nelson Mandela celebrated his birthday by stepping down from international duties, the stars turned out to honour him.

Amy Winehouse rose to the occasion and defied critics, delivering a quality performance.

She joined Bill Clinton, Gordon Brown and Will Smith in singing happy birthday to the inspirational statesman at the concert, for his HIV Aids charity 46664.

Frail Mandela, who spent 27 years as a political prisoner, was helped to the stage by his daughter and flanked by stars including Geri Halliwell and Leona Lewis as he thanked the crowd in London's Hyde Park.

He said: "Tonight we can stand before you free. But as we celebrate let us remind ourselves there is still work to be done. Our work is for freedom for all. Our friends and those all around the world please keep supporting our 46664 campaign."

Other guests included Forest Whittaker, Boris Becker, Jake Gyllenhaal, Reese Witherspoon, the Sugababes, Oprah Winfrey and Kate Middleton.

Not everyone got a warm welcome, though - the crowd booed Victoria Beckham when she delivered her message via video link from LA."

Things have gotten a little more gossipy for Gossip Girl heartthrobs Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick – but then, the two guys know the territory. "I just laugh them off," Westwick told PEOPLE about the discussions heating up the Internet – questioning the nature of his and Crawford's relationship.

"What are you going to do?" says Westwick. "People who know me and Chace and the cast know that we are all great friends. And that's the extent of it all. Those things that go around are just amusing to us, really."

Despite the scuttlebutt, Westwick was in great spirits Friday night at Tao Las Vegas as he celebrated his 21st birthday. Crawford had planned to join the party, but canceled. "I thought he was going to be here, said the birthday boy. "I was hoping he would make a show." Despite the cast's non-appearance at the bash, they did send Westwick birthday presents, didn't they?

    Well, no.

"They haven't gotten me anything, just a 'Happy Birthday' and a smile," Westwick said good-naturedly. "They're a terrible bunch, aren't they?" His family did much better: "I got a really cool, rare whiskey bottle from my cousin." As for Gossip Girl, filming has moved from the city to the beach. What can viewers expect? Promises Westwick, "Debauchery and warm weather."

George Clooney calls for unity among actors

George Clooney just wants actors to get along instead of choosing between sparring unions. In a two-page letter released Thursday, Clooney adopted a neutral stance in the dispute between the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the Screen Actors Guild.

"What we can't do is pit artist against artist," he wrote.

AFTRA has already reached a tentative agreement with Hollywood studios. SAG wants AFTRA members to vote against the deal, saying its approval will handcuff SAG at the bargaining table. Both unions' current contracts are set to expire Monday, leaving Hollywood on edge about a possible replay of the 100-day writers strike that ended in February.

Results of the AFTRA vote are expected July 8. Tom Hanks, Alec Baldwin and others have joined hundreds of actors in signing an online petition urging actors to ratify the AFTRA pact. Meanwhile, Jack Nicholson, Viggo Mortensen and Holly Hunter have endorsed a SAG ad calling for AFTRA to return to the negotiating table to get a better deal.

Clooney called the fight counterproductive. "Because the one thing you can be sure of is that stories about Jack Nicholson vs. Tom Hanks only strengthens the negotiating power" of the studios, he said.

Clooney also called on higher-paid actors to chip in a greater share of union dues and for 10 A-listers — "people that the studio heads don't often say 'no' to," he suggested, listing only Nicholson and Hanks by name — to sit down with studio heads once a year to "adjust the pay for actors." SAG deputy executive director Pamm Fair called Clooney's letter valuable input. AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers declined comment.

  14. Two Boys in the City

First fellow has been the subject of gay speculation for years. He’s had the luxury of hiding behind those with a higher profile and then later in obscurity while others have dominated the smutty landscape. Not that it would matter either way but it’s been decided for the greater good by committee that he remain vague about the fact that he likes boys better than girls.

Vague is better than fraud. And picking up in Gaytown is much better than doing it 70s style in the forest like George Michael. Now that he’s single, having broken up with a longterm boyfriend, with whom he was living openly back home, he was seen at 2am very recently in an area where the homos hang, propositioning a male acquaintance to join him back at the hotel. Unfortunately he had his signals crossed. The object of his sleepover was not interested.

Second fellow is a full on fraud, and it would appear that his now defunct relationship was an attempt to cover a close friendship that was tingling all our smutty senses. The man who made him has since leaked several stories to make sure his female fanbase doesn’t defect. Which is why, the next night across town at the afterparties, he felt secure enough to make out hard and wet, boogie and get down, with a boy rather light on his feet, in more ways than one, but much less famous. Now he and Britney have something in common.

Trump lashes out at Anne Hathaway

Says ‘Get Smart’ star was disloyal for dumping boyfriend before his arrest

Donald Trump may have a new sparring partner on his hands. The “Apprentice” head honcho has raised a critical eyebrow at “Get Smart’s” Anne Hathaway for dumping her boyfriend, and Trump Tower resident, Raffaello Follieri, days before he was arrested and charged with fraud.

“She hasn’t remained very loyal to him, has she?” Trump told “Access Hollywood’s” Billy Bush. “So when he had plenty of money, she liked him, but then after that, not as good, right?” Trump said this week, prior to Follieri being taken into custody and his bail set at $21 million, Trump Tower has been surrounded by media.

“I walked out of Trump Tower this morning and there was paparazzi all over the place, so I naturally thought they were waiting for me and I said, ‘How badly do you want my picture?’ And they said, ‘No, no, no, Mr. Trump. Not your picture. Raffaello!’” Trump recounted.

Though he’s glad he was never approached to, or invested with Follieri, Trump said reports about the Italian businessman’s demeanor in the building were positive. “I’ve heard he’s very nice,” Trump said. “According to the help, no problems. But he’s got himself in a jam.”

A Young Chef Comes Home to Grow

I am secretly hoping that Chris Fischer doesn’t get famous. (Sorry, Chris.) It’s just that his modesty is really refreshing, especially for a chef. I doubt I’ll get my wish, but there may be a silver lining in that.

Around here, Chris is as local as local gets. He was raised in Chilmark (the tiny, pastoral town at the end of the island) by a family with one foot firmly planted on the farm and the other dangling over the side of a boat. For fun, he smashed cantaloupes in his grandfather’s fields (with a croquet mallet—ouch!), and went lobstering and fishing with his dad (one day's catch documented at right; photo courtesy of Chris).

Chris left the island to cook in New York city kitchens, including Mario Batali's Babbo, where he was sous-chef. The unusual part isn't that he left, though (small town kids often do), but that he came back home. To grow and sell his own vegetables. To work as a private chef. To design and build vegetable gardens for his cooking clients. And, as it turns out, to film a TV show called “Edible Island,” which will follow the 28-year-old chef/grower as he visits the farmers and fishermen of Martha’s Vineyard and cooks with their ingredients.

I learned much of Chris's story over a plate of pasta carbonara one night. We were elbow-to-elbow at a crowded Sunday supper, and I thought the kid sitting next to me was just being polite when he said he, too, was interested in food. Said he’d done a little cooking.

A little? It took three truck rides to extract the rest of the story. When Chris learned I was working on a map of island farmers, he offered to introduce me to his family and show me the land they farm. Many uncles, aunts, cousins and magical dirt roads later, I came to realize that for Chris, this is all about family. It’s about his Dad, who taught him to grow and catch his dinner; it’s about his 15-year-old sister Molly, who helps him in the garden; and it’s especially about Ozzie, his 93-year-old granddad (pictured with Chris at right). Ozzie (who tipped me off about the cantaloupes) stars in the second segment of “Edible Island.”

In just a few weeks, Plum TV will begin airing “Edible Island.” Chris hopes the show will bring to life the vital traditions of small family farming. “I want to tell the stories so they don’t get lost. I want to help spread the word about why small-scale farming is important and what it means for the quality of your food,” he says. You know he really means it. It’s just that he might get famous in the process. I hear some Hollywood types have already seen his tapes.

While he was in LA in May he hired an escort to visit him backstage. The rentboy was handed a list of rules before he entered: "Don't touch (the legend's) hair, fingers, chest, and do NOT speak to him!" The escort did as he was told and walked away with $600. But he also walked away with a Monica Lewinsky inspired sample of the star's DNA and started calling the tabloids, negotiating to sell the story for six figures! Perhaps most galling of all, he plans to reveal that the cheater is NOT well endowed.

Respected Los Angeles entertainment reporter Sam Rubin said on his KTLA-TV blog that Ledger's role as the Joker is "amazing work".

He says Ledger "gives a blockbuster performance" and "will absolutely be nominated for an Oscar, and at this point in the year, Ledger is also a hands-down favorite to win it posthumously".

"Ledger offers perfect pitch, perfect tone, his Joker hits all the right notes. Ledger is THE BEST villain in a super hero movie of all time. Really," Rubin writes.

Rubin says Ledger's role in the Batman film will only add to the conversation of what the Australian could have accomplished had he lived.

Ledger, who won widespread acclaim for his role of an emotionally tortured gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain, died aged 28 from an accidental drug overdose in January in Manhattan.

  44. Hathaway ratted ex to FBI: pal

HOW EXACTLY did the feds "Get Smart" about Anne Hathaway's breakup with her troubled boyfriend?

A pal of jailed wheeler-dealer Raffaello Follieri suspects the starlet spoke with the FBI shortly before they arrested her ex for an alleged $6 million con job.

"It makes sense," the friend said. "She's referred to as his former girlfriend in the indictment even though her spokesman never confirmed they broke up." Hathaway, who is not identified by name in the criminal complaint, split with Follieri shortly before his arrest last week. He is charged with posing as an agent of the Vatican to fleece investors out of millions. "I think that in return for her cooperation, the feds held off on arresting Follieri until she was out of the country," the friend said.

Hathaway's camp has declined to comment on Follieri's legal troubles. The Italian businessman faces up to 20 years in federal prison if he's convicted of wire-fraud and money-laundering charges.

The 29-year-old businessman is accused of living the high life after he allegedly duped investors into pouring millions of dollars into a phony real-estate scheme. Follieri, a fixture at Hathaway's side for years, remains locked up on $21 million bail.

  57. That is so sweet, the song for Matilda. I don't doubt that Michelle was the one he really loved, and of course there would always be a connection because they had a child together. In Hollywood, there's a lot of opportunity that is hard to resist, but I don't know if real love comes every day. I can't wait to see TDK and enjoy Heath's performance. I agree, it's very sad that he isn't here to see how wonderful the response to it will be.

  59. Your co-star Heath Ledger, who plays The Joker, died tragically after the film wrapped. Do you mind talking about him?

CB: No, listen, I want to talk about Heath.
When you miss somebody, you want to speak about him.

And I'm so absolutely sure Jake would have said something too, I really think he liked Heath, but he probably was advised or influenced, maybe by Reese?, to wait because of the controversy surrounding Heath's death, like the drug rumors. He waited a bit too long and just missed the boat. I think he regretts it now. In his next interview he'll talk about him. I know for some fans it won't be the same, but he knows exactly that many Brokies wait for him to say something.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I think that if Jake really wanted to comment about Heath, he would have released a statement instead of going for a walk in the park with Reese and her kids. It seems as though he didn't attend Heath's memorial and it didn't bother him to be in NYC a few weeks after Heath's death, 2 blocks away from where Heath lived, and it doesn't look like he even went to see his goddaughter. Apparently it didn't bother Jake that much. Anything he says about Heath now will just make him look stupid. It's too little, to late. Besides, what does he possibly have to say in any interviews now? His life seems to revolve around Reese and her kids. Is he going to spend an entire interview saying Reese this and Reese that? How boring and naseauting.

I don't think Jakes refusal has anything to do with Heaths drug problems. Why would Jake be associating with RDJ publicly. That wouldn't make sense. The only reason Jake did not make a public statement about Heath was because he desperately wanted to shake the gay rumors and put any involvement with BBM in the past.
Jake said he was gonna turn HW upside down! Yeah right! WIMP!

  65. The only reason Jake did not make a public statement about Heath was because he desperately wanted to shake the gay rumors and put any involvement with BBM in the past.

The gay rumors about Jake got really persistant. Ever since he's with Reese, faux or not, they decreased a bit... I think.
Either that, the drug rumors or he just didn't think it was necessary, even when media dragged Heath's name through the mud. He probably thought it wasn't his business, which actually really isn't.

  66. "His life seems to revolve around Reese and her kids.

Yes, but think about it. I think that he really has distanced himself from friends and family. Chris is in MV, Maggie's been in NYC and Jake hasn't crossed paths with his sister and her family for months. I think it's pretty sad. You would always see pics of him in LA getting lunch or coffee with his mom or dad. He would come to NYC regularly to see Maggie, Chris and other friends. Now, he seems to be attached to the hip with Reese and it really does seem as though he lives with her. I'm sure if he spent time at his own house, paps would get pics of him jogging, etc. like they always used to. Guess that might be the price to pay when you sell your soul to the devil.

Of course he won't! IF/when he will speak about Heath it'll be some PR written speech, I'm sure of it. The time for genuineness has long passed, it'll all be either damage control (too late for that though) either 'let's get over with it already' stuff.

  80. Why don't you go back to babble central. Nobody here is buying Reeke in London.

And what if they were in London? Why is that such a big deal? Them being in London makes them real? Reeke is still a fauxmance even if they're both there. Btw speak for yourself, I'm a regular poster here who happens to think Jake's gay and that there's a good chance they're both in the UK for PR purposes.

  81. I don't think Reese is in the US, the last pap pics of her was at LAX international last Saturday. Usually there are pics every other day of her wandering around LA doing chores even w/o Jake and there have been none since Saturday. Doesn't mean she's in London but it sure looks like she isn't in the here. Jake was spotted on British Virgin last Thursday and it's been reported on imdb that they were doing some pre-production stuff for Pop.

They were on the list to attend the Mandela party but most likely they were a no-show. The sighting on Saturday on the myspace by country singer Jessie James was more credible, she's in London recording and it sounds like she was in Notting Hill and saw them at Porbello Rd, a very large shopping place in London, there is no reason for her to make that up.

As far as the kids are concerned I think she had the nanny fly them over seperately.

    ReplyDelete
  82. If Reeke is all about bearding and PR, how come Reese has been in London with Jake for 2 weeks without her kids?

Reese was seen alone at the LAX on June 21.

If Jake is (still) in London, he's there becuse he has PoP work to do. Reese has all the free time in the world to follow Jake around if she wants - it looks like she doesn't have anything better to do anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Someone should check to see who Jessie James is repped by. Or who her PR people are. Probably working in concert with Reeke's PR.

  85. If Reese is in London which is beginning to look like a reality I think the kids are with her and I agree with the poster who said the kids probably followed with the nanny later. If reeke is a fauxmance then things just arent making sense. With that said cant stand Reeke.

However, I do agree even if she was, it's still as phony as a three dollar bill. I just happen to think Jake is on vacation, not "working". People would have us believe that after getting weekends of 5 or 6 different sets of photos of Reeke that they're actually in London without tipping off the paps? Get real.

  97. Can't believe some people dont buy Reeke as fake. Disney has stated that POP is a $200 million production with up to 1800 people involved. Can you imagine what lengths they will go to with that much money at stake. They don't want their Prince perceived as gay, and Reese has already demonstrated she will do anything for money. Do you really think she would wear that Avon bracelet otherwise.

Jake has been seen all over this past week. Who knows which sighting is the real one.

    ReplyDelete
  98. ^^There would be a logical way out of the perception angle - if they didn't want their Prince to be perceived as gay, they didn't have to hire him in the first place, problem solved. There are plenty of actors with no gay rumors swirling around them, and yet they still hired Jake. So I have to wonder if that really is the motivator. Admittedly, Reese isn't behaving the way I ever thought she would, nor is she someone I thought Jake would gravitate to - so that puzzles me, but I have no idea what any of them are like in real life. His not saying anything about Heath I'm not crazy about either. But if they are together in London, it stretches the bounds of credulity to keep thinking they aren't involved, IMO. I thought he was with Austin for so long I was truly shocked about he and Reese, but I have no way of knowing if it's real or not.

    ReplyDelete
  100. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I find it very commendable that they did hire him. They know he played the role of the beautiful Jack Twist, and the seemingly never-ending lame jokes that went along with it, and a certain homophobic or conservative segment of society that could even be in their audiences and that wouldn't approve, and yet they still picked Jake. It would be very hard to prove, why they bypassed him, as easy as pie for them to do, and yet they still hired him. They could have very easily bypassed him for another actor with blue eyes, and a beefy body. So I don't think his sexuality has anything to do with his role.

    ReplyDelete
  101. You don't think that Jake was the best actor for the part do you? You know what HW is like. Who knows what went on behind the scenes for Jake to get the part? One thing I'm sure about, the fauxmance was for him to get PoP and publicity. No way Reeke is real. If it was real, it's appalling the respect they have for each other's privacy and the privacy of the kids and anyone who pimps a relationship like they have could never be in love for real.

  105. I agree with you 9:42 but this has sure gone on for a very long time. Are they really gonna convince anybody else that they haven't already that they are real.

Small percent of Jake's fans and gossip lovers are not buying Reeke, so I don't think PR is concerned with us. Reeke is a constant source of good PR for Reese and Jake, so why should they stop?

    ReplyDelete
  106. There are plenty of actors with no gay rumors swirling around them, and yet they still hired Jake. So I have to wonder if that really is the motivator.

Jake is hardly the only one in "big projects / gay rumors / bearding" position: Cruise, Travolta, George, Leo, Hayden, Hugh Jackman...

Jake was "single" too long and, as far as general public is concerned, this fauxmance reinstated him as "straight as an arrow" actor.

  107. The Cinema: Posthumous Oscar Watch

Ropeofsilicon.com has an early review of Batman: The Dark Knight which does its best to add to the swelling consensus that Australian James Dean is pretty effing great in his last movie. Clips and freakishly early Oscar buzz after the jump.

Brad Brevet's review is enthusiastic about all aspects of the film, but saves his strongest praise for the man behind the Joker make-up.

Ledger's descent into what is and has become The Joker makes Jack Nicholson's interpretation look like nothing more than a simple clown. "Wait until they get a load of me," says Jack... Wait until you get a load of Heath

The language occasionally borders on the hagiographic, but his well measured appraisal of the rest of the film makes it believeable.

In terms of comic book film adaptations this is the pinnacle. The argument saying this is The Godfather Part II of comic book movies would insinuate that Batman Begins is on equal terms with the original Godfather, which is far from true. However, if we could call this The Godfather of comic book movies I wait anxiously for what may/will become the film that caps off the trilogy.

I really, really hope this is true. Some critics have suggested Heath might snag an Oscar nod, but I'm just praying for a good Batman movie.

Let's keep fingers crossed, the trailer looks promising enough.

    ReplyDelete
  110. "I think she keeps Jake on a short leash. She doesn't want any um mistakes on his part."

I don't think she keeps Jake on a short leash but the possibility that he's in a long term relationship helps, in that there's no scandals with multiple partners. If Jake did anything to take away from her squeaky clean image, she would be PISSED!

  113. Some of these HW deals take years to come to fruition. Wasn't there a Ted BI about Toothy doing someone really big to land a part. Did not seem like Lance A was big enough at the time of the rumor - it could have been someone for POP.

    ...
Also, there's hope, I want you all to know, for Mr. Tile's movie career. Dare I say some of his future film projects are looking up, because, uh, how can I put this? T.T. has decided to start sleeping with better-looking people now to get his future projects—is that being too crass about it all?

In other words, for T.T.'s next 40-foot-wide job, Tooth-doll not only seduced the man who would decide the whole-deal shebang (it's sort of a studly adventure story, in so many ways), he now shares cocaine, hotel suites and party favors with the bigwig. Isn't that sweet when one can stay bestest amigos with one's ladder-climbing bed partners?

  115. Yeah, but at the time nobody could be convinced that it wasn't Lance, no matter how hard anyone tried, it was Lance. Now we think differently; ultimately, nobody really knows what goes on (and I don't know. To me, there are plenty of actors who could play this role. We only knew about Orlando, I don't know about Zac. If they choose a NCS actor for it, that's a good thing in my book.

If there are no London pics, I'll continue to think it's all HW hype, but if they are seen together, for weeks in a foreign country, the longer they are seen together the more it looks like they really are involved.

  124. 'REBEL' YELL FOR HEATH

HEATH Ledger is about to get the full James Dean treatment on TV.

Ledger, who died of an accidental prescription drug overdose last January at age 28, is the subject of an "E! True Hollywood Story" next week - which promises to be just the beginning. As the release of "Batman: The Dark Knight" - featuring his next-to-last role as a deranged, serial-killer version of the Joker - draws closer, Ledger's early death promises to be a prime topic of morning talk shows and evening news magazines for weeks to come.

"When you lose an actor that young it's hard to know if their fame will be sustained for decades," says Suzanne Ross, the executive producer of the new E! special. "But I think he has a realistic shot at that happening."

"Sadly for him, there's something irresistible in someone famous dying young," says Dr. Paul Levinson of Fordham University. "When someone in pop culture dies young, what happens is that they are frozen in time," he says.

Ledger's co-stars from "Dark Knight" are already talking up his performance. "His performance is totally different and totally real and extraordinarily frightening," co-star Keith Szarabajka says on the "THS" special. "He seemed really dangerous when he was the Joker, I mean really dangerous."

"I would say every single appearance that he made will become treasured," says Levinson. "And eventually you may even see movies made about him."

  148. i know a couple in vancouver who work in the film industry and they met heath ledger on set 5 years ago and they said he was very friendly and great to be around. 2 years had past and the couple went to the sundance film festival to a party and they saw heath. heath went up to them both and greeted them with hugs and a handshake and even remembered their first names.

they were amazed that heath remembered them and had a nice time catching up with him.

the wife was suppose to be working with heath again for 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus'

  150. Yep, Heath seemed to be a nice dude, shame he was so strange and conflicted though.

  151. Yesterday was the first time I saw Reese's Avon commercial. This reminded me she got 30 f*cking million dollars to promote their comsmetics and good causes. What she'll do with all that money?

    ReplyDelete
  152. So much good can be done if some of these people would donate even one million $ to a cause. I wonder how many homes, cars, handbags, shoes, etc. one person needs. It's their choice what to do with their money, unfortunately.

  153. Actors earn too much money, especially actors who work in the US. It's crazy.

  154. Loads of new Toothy/Jake references up on The Awful Truth...

  155. I love Ted "Gyllenblind" best nickname yet.

  156. :) Ted is very funny.

  157. According to OK Jake will join Maggie to the TDK premiere. I say BS!

    ReplyDelete
  158. Perhaps he'll show up with Reese?

    ReplyDelete
  159. There's no chance he'll be at the premiere. If a new sighting (them with the kids) is true, Jake and Reese and the kids are still in Nothing Hill.

  160. That so-called sighting was in the comments to a story. Anyone can post a sighting like that, so consider the source. I don't think he's in London, but I'm not sure why he'd show up for the premier of TDK either. Too gay to show up for his BBM co-star.

  161. Abbie and Ryan holding hands and shopping for rugs. BTW, Abbie looks pregnant. http://x17online.com/celebrities/ryan_phillippe/ya_know_its_serious_when_rugs_are_involved-06302008.php

  162. Not pregnant. More like really unfortunate looking legs. It's no wonder she usually wears long skirts and pants. She should stick to that.

  164. More Ryan and Abbie. Why is such a cute girl dressing like an Amish woman? http://justjared.buzznet.com/2008/06/30/ryan-phillippe-abbie-cornish-peace/

  165. Old rumor: Heath wanted to hook up Abbie and Jake.

  166. "Heath wanted to hook up Abbie and Jake."

    Where did you hear this?

  167. Old rumor: Heath wanted to hook up Abbie and Jake.

I bet Jake would've rather hooked up with Heath than with Abbie. lol

LOL. Maybe Heath didn't know that. ;)

    Nah, I think he did.

  170. The so-called sighting - added days after the other comments calling it a fauxmance, has to be fake. It's London, not Chipping Sodbury.

    ReplyDelete
  171. where was this Reeke and kids "sighting" posted?

    ReplyDelete
  172. Check those Just Jared and X17 Abbie & Ryan links.

    ReplyDelete
  173. thanks anon 5:08!

    ReplyDelete
  174. Ops... I just presume it's there :)

    ReplyDelete
  175. One thing it appears: the kids aren't with Ryan unless he dumped at a sitters for the weekend.

Don't think the sighting was made up, the article doesn't mention the kids just Jake and Reese, this sighting has them the kids and another couple.

They will "inform" the paps over there when it suits them, like over here.

  176. ^ whatever....

  177. I really, really hope he shows up in tribute to Heath. It would mean so much.
