Beard x 2

Dear Ted:
Since L. Armstrong and J. Gyllenhaal are friends, would you say Lance is to Kate Hudson what Jake is to Reese Witherspoon? Becky Bain did a great job in your absence, but still... welcome back!

Dear Duh:
Since J dates R and L dates K then, uh, yeah I would say so. And ain’t B2 great?

Friends, Flames and Foes

June 4, 2008

And now a word about Jake Gyllenhaal, eternal boyish wonder, and Reese Witherspoon, Jen’s ol’ Friends sis. Cannot tell you how many folks have contacted, written, phoned, chased me down at screenings, Gelson’s, parties, just to find out what the ef’s up with these two. I’ve said it before, I’ll blab it again: nothing. Nothing save brilliance, mind you. I mean, Clooney, the hardest dude to nab in H'wood, could learn from this dude Gyllenhaal.

"They’re very, very good friends," remarked a Githerspoon source who knows the two beauties well. "They’re helping each other out right now through some rough spots, that’s it."

Jeez, what could be rougher than being young and gorgeous, unattached and gifted with stunning hair? What do these two have to complain about? OK, well Reese’s failed marriage with Ryan, for starters. And then, I suppose, if you were truly desperate, you could add Rendition to Jakey’s problematic past. But that’s really stretching it. My hunch? They’re supergood BFFs who don’t mind in the least when every People photog worth his or her anal-probe camera happens to hunt them down at myriad coffee clutches and Beverly Hills mansions. They’ll ride this one as long as they see fit. The gushing, hyperventilating press only makes them both more viable, far more than on their own.

Remember, Reese didn’t get that Oscar for nuthin’.

  11. "This one is creepy."

That's an outtake from a BBM photoshoot at the Toronto film festival. I read while the cast was posing for pícs, they found out they won the Golden Lion in Venice. They were all very happy. Afterwards at the press conference Ang Lee called to personally tell they won. You can tell, especially by the look on Jake's face while posing for photos shortly before the conference began how happy he was.

Prince of Persia: The Game of the Movie of the Game

Try to wrap your head around this: Ubisoft is planning a game adaptation of the film adaptation of the game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

It's not enough that we're getting a brand spanking new cel-shaded next-gen Prince of Persia and even spinoff titles for the Wii and DS.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has revealed that next year's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time -- that's the Bruckheimer-produced, Jake Gyllenhaal-starring film adaption set for release in 2009 -- will get its own game adaptation.

The film itself features a script by the original game's creator Jordan Mechner. We still know very little about the game adaption of the film, but it's interesting to note that the movie is itself based on the plot of one of the games. Even a week after their Ubidays media event, Ubisoft is still all over the news. The latest covers the studio's expansion into other media productions, including word of a new animated series. Furthermore, Guillemot has also revealed that the company is sitting on a $1.2 billion war chest, to be used in potential acquisitions.

It's probably a good time to be a Ubisoft share-holder right now, although Prince of Persia fans are probably confused as all hell.

Q: Can we just talk about sex?
Doctor Parnassus: My clinical speculatum! I practice a lot on my own. The brain is really my second favorite organ. You know, the Archimedes’ principle supports the theory that a man immersed in the liquid of male love experiences an upward thrust equal to the weight of women he displaces.

Q: Must we be cryptic? You’re saying gay love can boost a career?
Doctor Parnassus: Mr Gyllenhaal once had a large gay following, but Jake ducked into a Roman alleyway and lost him.

  31. I know everyone here hates Perez Hilton, but since this guy is the king of innuendos and outs just about everyone in Hollywood, why does he keep insisting Jake is straight and with Reese?

Just Jared "keeps insisting" and keeps selling Reeke. Perez is "pro-Reeke".

    ReplyDelete
  32. Heath had an amazingly sexy voice!

I know, just hearing his voice and accent gives me shivers. So sexy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It's a joke - Dr. P is using "large gay following" as in one large man following, ducked into an alleyway, and lost him. Just as a play on words "large gay following". I wouldn't go looking for anything deep in it, I think Dr. P's sessions are meant as entertainment only, and it is very clever, but it's not the Da Vinci Code.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Perez doesn't irritate A listers. He calls out D listers, a few C listers and one or two on the B list.

An A listers publicist could make him disappear especially if he fucked with a CAA client or someone the studios had a lot of money riding on. There is no way he would "out" Jake even if he had the information he needed to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. And Just Jared loves everybody. Does he ever post anything hateful? His pictures are paid for by the publicists who plant things on his site. He's just a sweet little puppet.

  39. Barrowman gets tested for gayness

Speaking of John Barrowman, Torchwood.tv is claiming the hunky actor made a trip to UCLA's Human Genetics Lab to take part in a study on "the scientific search for what makes people gay." Barrowman supposedly had his DNA sampled and spent time in an MRI machine that measured his reactions to nude pictures of both sexes. The study is being filmed by the BBC for a three-part documentary airing in August and also involved Barrowman being reunited with his first high-school girlfriend. Nothing like stirring up memories of your awkward teenage hetero fumblings to officially confirm that you're a fag.

  40. It may be Dr. P's professional opinion that as well as the surface meaning, he may want to "lose" the large gay following in the larger sense too. I don't believe that, and will seek a second opinion. ;)

  41. I'm surprised you haven't read Ted tonight--there's an item in there about Jake/Reese.

He's saying they're good friends but absolutely nothing else.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Maybe because he has said it several time before. Friends saying that they were just friends helping each other out, blah, blah.

The only difference this time is that he isn't giving a timetable for to end like he did before and actually called what they are doing brilliant, when he laughed at their efforts earlier and suggested that Cloney take some pointers when he suggested a few months back that Jake should take some pointers from travolta.

I really like the way she said that. It makes me feel better for caring so much as a fan.

    ReplyDelete
  44. "
He's saying they're good friends but absolutely nothing else."

Exactly. Friends helping each other during times of crisis. When he referred to the charade as brilliant, he also implicitly confirmed that getting PoP was the purpose of the relationship.

'Nailed' dodges bullet with funding deal

David O. Russell film to resume filming Wednesday

    June 3, 2008, 08:12 PM

David O. Russell's political comedy "Nailed" will resume filming Wednesday thanks to a late-breaking financing deal with Comerica Bank and the film's financier, Capitol Films. Key cast members, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel and Catherine Keener, were en route to the South Carolina set Tuesday to begin shooting the next day. But the ultimate future of the film from the economically troubled Capitol remains uncertain.
    ...
Reyes had hoped to close the deal with Comerica on May 27, so that filming could start up again May 29. But he said Monday that it had taken longer than expected to get the deal together. He declined to say how much the financing was for or what the projected budget now is for the film.

As of Monday, Reyes said, the film was funded, payroll companies received deposits and SAG, IATSE and the Teamsters members were in the clear to start back to work.
    ...
The production switched to a Thursday-Monday production schedule following the Memorial Day weekend holiday.

Perez does not insist Jake is straight. He says that Reeke are cute together (not untrue). He still calls Jake 'GyllenHO' because Jake is a famewhore, bless his needy little heart.

Perez is smart. He disses mainly C and D list celebs and hits the B+ and A list only when they do something the majority of the public condemns anyway.

His 'outing' of the closeted is limited to low-power individuals, TV stars like Wentworth Miller, or faded A-listers like Jodie Foster, whose status is an open secret.

Perez knows what side his bread gets buttered on.

If his website hits start falling, he may have to pull some big reveals out of his ass. But unless the celebs get caught on camera, that's tough to do. No picture, no story. So in the meantime, Perez plays it safe. Smart biznessman!

  95. From DL about Afterelton top 100, question was if it was a poll:

No not in the traditional sense. It was more like a write in ballot. Only one ballot from each IP address accepted. Unlike People where a small group of people pick and choose, this list is all on the readers of afterelton.

That means "fangirls" couldn't vote for Jake multiple times like one or two posters here suggested. I believe most of the votes came from gay men and probably some from straight females.
Jake has a huge gay following, like it or not!

They are doing it for PR (don’t mind in the least when every People photog) knowing that Reeke would attract more attention than they ever would on their own (The gushing, hyperventilating press only makes them both more viable, far more than on their own).

  98. Jake has a huge gay following, like it or not!

I've always wondered why, if so many gay fans thought he was gay and bearding, which implies he's ashamed to admit he's gay, why has he still so many gay fans and why not Tom Cruise for instanc?

No, Ted's latest comment RIPS Reeke.

He says that Jake and Reese are friends, not lovers, and that they are playing to the press. He reminds us that Reese is an ACTRESS, he stresses that they are hooked up to help each other over rough spots (innuendo about what young-and-beautiful Jake's "rough spots" could be...for anyone who is sarcasm-challenged, Ted means the gay rumors, which affect Jake's BO bankability with Minivan Moms). And then he adds that "they’ll ride this one as long as they see fit," suggesting it's a calculated decision, and not a spontaneous love affair.

Yep, ain't no reins on this one. ((sarcasm))

  118. 'Nailed' gets financing, but will it finish?

    From staff reports

"Nailed" is scheduled to resume filming today in Columbia after its third work stoppage in a month, but a trade publication report raises questions there's enough money to get the political satire staring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel into theaters.

A late-breaking financing deal with Comerica Bank and the film's financier, Capitol Films, has gotten cameras rolling again after the third union stoppage over pay, The Hollywood Reporter reported last Tuesday. The movie halted filming on May 22. Forty-six checks for the “Nailed” production bounced due to insufficient funds, according to the film’s bankers quoted by Variety in a story last week.

While the Comerica financing will help meet the film's $25 million budget and costs from a week of missed shooting days and union penalties, sources quoted by The Hollywood Reporter said they don't know if there's enough financing to last through post-production. The shoot must end June 22 to keep its cast members. "One more shutdown will kill the movie," according to a film executive quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. Capitol's head of business affairs, Ray Reyes, is quoted as saying there are two weeks left of filming in South Carolina before the production moves to Washington.

Filming last stopped nearly two weeks ago after the union representing stage crews ordered its second walk-off after its members were not getting paid. The actors union ordered its members off the set for a weekend on May 9 because not enough money was put into accounts used to pay actors. Reyes told The Hollywood Reporter that he had hoped to close the deal with Comerica so filming could resume last week but that putting the arrangement together took longer than expected.

hey, P-Bitch! I live in LA to and I've heard LOTS of stuff about Jake-y and being gay (but really bisexual, as if theirs a diff).

A guy friend of mine that's str8 does valet parking for xtra $ sometimes, and he SWEARS ON HIS LIFE AND ON HIS MAMMA'S GRAVE that about 2 years ago he saw Jake kissing this older dude when the stopped the car and didn't think anyone had come up yet to get his keys. Hours later when they came out Jake signed an autograph for my friend but said no when he asked if he could take a picture with his cell. My friend kept saying that if he had had his cell out and could have gotten a pic of that man and Jake he wouldn't ever probably have to work again 'cause he would sell it. I told him that was wrong, but he would have done it anyway.

I totally believe my friend cause he doesn't have a problem with gay people and he didn't have a reason to make it up. He' isn't the kind to do that.

    ----- Posted by: WeHoHag | Apr 20, 2006 11:14:42 PM

wehohag, is this story part of the toothy tiles story? Jake and male in parking lot of mall? just don't see it, but could be true. people keep say gay, but I read he was bi-sexual.

    ----- Posted by: thom | Apr 21, 2006 5:53:04 PM

I don't think it is part of the toothy stuff because the guy who is my friend that saw it saw it back when we were in all high school and that was almost 2 yrs. ago. I've never read all the toothy things but I thought it was all just some gossip colum.

My guy friend would never lie about this. He just isn't the kind to do that. He has a sister that I went to school with at an all girls school and he went to an all boys school wiht my brother. Their at the same college now so I will ask him if it's part of all that toothy stuff, but I don't hink so.

    ----- Posted by: WeHoHag | Apr 21, 2006 8:53:04 PM

What I left out was that my friend was working for a temporary valet service when he saw this. When a restarant's regular valet would call in sick the restarant would call this service my friend worked for and they would send people to replace the sick ones. I will have to ask my friend what restarant it was, but I know it was a restarant and not a mall.

    ----- Posted by: WEHOHAG | Apr 21, 2006 8:58:04 PM

Did producer's bithch comments get deleted? The comments were interesting. P'sBitch if you are on site, I would like to know if (you) have any evidence of JG sexuallity since you say that everyone in W.Hollywood knows he is Gay! I have a freind who lives in W. Hollywood and told me that one of the actors in BBM looks familiar after he saw the movie. I was not aware of the rumors then.

    ----- Posted by: thom | Apr 22, 2006 4:43:39 PM

hey, NYCER - - that is NOT what I said. I did NOT say my friend slept with him. I said that two years ago my friend was working as a temp valet and saw him with an older man. They didn't know anyone was watching and they were very close and it looked like they were kissing. They were in line at a restaurant to turn their car over to the valet and there were several cars on in front of them. They didn't expect the valet to come up to them and take their car until they pulled in under the restaurant's garage thingy, so they got caught by surprise.

My friend would NOT lie. He even got Jakes autograph when they came out but said Jake would not let him take a pic. And like I said this was like two years ago.

You need to read the posts before you start accusing people of doing things they haven't. THAT's how shit get started.

    Seven Years After Donnie Darko

Production of the sequel to cult hit Donnie Darko has started work in Utah under director Chris Fisher.

Showgirls star Elizabeth Berkley is the latest name to join the cast list, which also sees the return of Daveigh Chase.

Chase will again play Samantha Darko, younger sister of the original film's anti-hero Donnie, who was played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Imdb.com reports that the sequel, titled S. Darko, picks up seven years after the first film, with Samantha and her best friend Corey plagued by bizarre visions on a road trip to Los Angeles. The original film was written and directed by Richard Kelly.

I don't expect HW actors to be a Mahatma Ghandi but the fact remains that a few brave actors help the gay cause while the majority who are only interested in themselves and the $$$ beard.

    The OUT Magazine Sociopaths

For those of you unfamiliar with my general views on the Closet, read this and this. But specific to the issue of the day--the "OUT" magazine "Power 50, The Most Powerful Gay Men and Women In America", I am OUTraged by celebrities who live off public adulation and support and lie about their sexual orientation. I am somewhat less outraged but certainly disgusted by news and entertainment media, including bloggers that treat this subject glibly and gutlessly.

Ironically,"OUT" magazine has hit the nail on the head when they list Jodie Foster (no. 43) and Anderson Cooper (no. 2) as two of the most powerful and influential gay men and women in America. But powerful and influential in what way? The choice that Cooper and Foster and others of their ilk make to obviously lie about their sexual orientation sends a powerful and influential message to millions of closeted men and women and more importantly to millions of gay and lesbian children: being gay is shameful, dangerous, career-threatening and at the very least something to hide and deny.

Unlike some of my peers, I do not accept that a celebrity's right to a private life is the same as lying about being gay. Many straight celebrities lead private lives but nonetheless attend public functions, vacation and pursue their daily lives with a heterosexual spouse and children. Gay celebrities insult all of us with their "no comment" blathering.

We live in a society where most of us demand a free pass and are even contemptuous of the notion of responsibility and accountability. It starts in the White House and then oozes down like a slimy muck through every nook and cranny of our society. As long as the pay checks keep coming in, responsibility to society and community be damned. We reward people who engage in de facto anti-social and morally and ethically criminal behavior. And Jodie Foster and Anderson Cooper are damned good examples of this. We give them ratings and box office and even adulation within the gay community in exchange for the "powerful and influential" role they play is oppressing, persecuting and demoralizing gay America.

I for one do not and never will buy into it. Both Foster and Cooper live "out" private lives. Cooper is often seen with his eye candy of the week walking Manhattan's Man Mile (one of many affectionate terms for Chelsea's Eighth Avenue.) Would coming out hurt their careers--which at this point is surely the only sick rationale they have for this dishonest and anti-social behavior? Perhaps. But how many young lives have these two pathologically selfish celebrities destroyed with their message that being gay is shameful and dangerous? How many have suffered and go on suffering because they look to Anderson Cooper and think, "If someone that rich and powerful is afraid to come out, how could I ever hope to survive doing so?" And Anderson's folly is particularly ironic. This is a man who uses his news anchor status to advocate for victims--victims of Katrina, victims of Iraq. What about victims of the closet that he so diligently nurtures?

"We'll Just Break Through That Glass Closet For You:" Out Outs Anderson Cooper And Jodie Foster

Via Queerty: Out magazine's May issue takes on the issue of the "glass closet" for gays wherein there is transparency about their lives everywhere except on the record. Writes Michael Musto in his cover story, "The Glass Closet: Why The Stars Won't Come Out And Play":

And today, the press still gives a free pass to people like Good Morning America weather anchor Sam Champion and CNN presence Anderson Cooper, helping to keep their glass doors shut so they can lead gay social lives while carefully skirting the issue.

Out will give no such free pass, thank you very much. They'll decide when celebrities should come out of the closet. So it's Anderson and Jodie Foster on the cover for all to see, even if neither of them have publicly come out and made a declaration about their sexuality either way. C'mon, Andy, you're here, you're queer, get used it it. No? Okay, we'll get used to it for you. So much for personal choice!
    ...
Out editor Aaron Hicklin says he expects some "flak" for "daring to create a list like this" — we're not so sure how 'daring' it is to make a list, the bread and butter of magazine newsstand bait, but we do think the cover was daring. Either way, we do agree with Hicklin here: "[I]t's a mark of real progress that the vast majority of men and women who made our Power 50 have attained their positions without feeling the need to hide their sexuality to do so." It would have been a mark of greater progress had Out not felt the need to unhide it for them.

  169. "Do you think that actors beard or hide their sexuality because they are pathological liars?"

Of course not. They do it to get work in HW. Because HW thinks if you are a gay actor, the public will not accept you. If an actor is gay and in the closet, he can remain there. How long is his choice. IMO, by doing so he does not lie. The lies start only when the actor starts to beard. Because then he is actively promoting an image of himself that is blatantly untrue. And this is done for fame, money & success.

I live in a different world. What I was trying to say was why leave out possibilities in my life? It wasn't meant to be provocative.'

So let's get it on the record: is he saying he is open to persuasion? 'No, I am not open to persuasion myself, but the idea of homosexuality is acceptable to me. I grew up in a city where half the people I know are gay. Both of my godfathers are gay.'
    ...
OK, having established that he is not bisexual, was he being quite calculating when he allowed people to think he was? 'It was meant as a way of saying it was important for Heath [Ledger, his co-star in Brokeback Mountain] and I to have the movie exist as the movie, but also to have people know it was two straight actors playing those parts.'

  182. Reeke: the sad part is I actually believe they were a real couple just 2 weeks ago...silly me.

Why did you change your mind?

  183. he doesnt'want to be "the gay community poster boy" guy , wake up. The truth is you seems to need his coming out to validate your own choice.

No one said or suggested that, stop making things up and start reading posts:

"If an actor is gay and in the closet, he can remain there. How long is his choice. IMO, by doing so he does not lie. The lies start only when the actor starts to beard."

Whut?! This quote always makes me LOL.

  185. I don't know much about Wentworth Miller, but if he hasn't bearded, then yes, in my books I respect him more.

I would say no, he didn't or so little it's not worth mentioning.

  186. Q: Do your origins have any influence on which Presidential candidate you are supporting right now?

WM: There are topics, I don't want to discuss publicly: Politics, religion, money, and sexual orientation.

  187. I think it's infinitely more acceptable to avoid the sexual orientation subject than to lie and beard. I have no problem with Jake not coming out, the fact that he constantly treats us like idiots by shoving the fauxmance down our throats is what bothers me. It’s disgusting and insulting!

  188. I don't think Jake is gay, he is bisexual and when he was younger he thought experimenting sex with boys made him trendy an interesting, now that he is trying to be a conventional hollywood star, his past came to torment him.

    That's not Bi, that's Bi-curious:

Bi-curious has several distinct and sometimes contradictory meanings. It is commonly found in personal ads from those who identify as heterosexual, but are interested in homosexual "experimentation." Such people are commonly suspected—not necessarily correctly—of being homosexuals or bisexuals in denial of their homosexuality. It can also be used to describe someone as being passively bi, bi-permissive, or open to indirect bisexual contact.

Stupid little rich boy with high pretensions, I can't believe i actually defended him once upon a time."

I see him BI too and i agree with what you say. I think jake wants to be a conventional star with a "conventional" family as his own.
He said it in one of his interview last years.
I am surprised nobody talk about the subject, he is obviously a family man and the desire to have kids will torment him soon or later.

  195. Cannes 2007 interview - from WDW:

"The interviewer asks if Jake could change that and he responds: "Yes, I have already. Apart from the success which I've had, I've invested a lot of time in creating a home for myself." "But doesn't the traditional proper home need a wife and children? When do you want to take that on?" Jake laughs and replies: "I know many people who have marriage and children as their number one priority. But I've thought about that hard and think you shouldn't put the cart before the horse. You must first meet another person with whom you'd like to create a family. I know that when I have a wife and children it will be completely the right thing for me, but in the current phase of my life I'd probably prefer to just prepare for it. For the moment,my parents, my sister and her family are the best things I have in my life. No doubt at all. Yes, I would gladly have my own small family. But I'm still young."

    No. What is your point?

  197. Do people seriously think Jake tells the truth all the time, or would feel obliged to about something like this? What's the point of these quotes?
