The brawny actors decided to get some practice in ahead of their appearance in climbing drama 'Everest', but things took a downward turn after they lost sight of their direction markers.
A source told the National Enquirer: ''They'd started out in Malibu canyon and followed marked paths until they got to a rocky area where Jake wanted to climb. When they started back down the other side of the mountain, Jake kept insisting he knew the way but after an hour, Josh realized Jake had no clue.''
Facing the prospect of darkness falling, temperatures plummeting and dangerous wildlife including lions, coyotes and poisonous snakes attacking them, the pair appealed to the first people they came across, a Boy Scout troop, who helped bring them back down safely.
'Everest' is based on the true story of two ill-fated expeditions to the summit of the world's tallest peak - located in the Nepalese Himalayan mountains - which resulted in eight people's death when they were caught in a blizzard. Actor Jake Gyllenhaal spent two weeks living like a homeless traveller after he was convinced to British folk rockers Mumford & Sons on a train tour across America.
The Hollywood star attended the band's show in San Pedro, California in April, 2011 and was then invited to hop onboard the I Will Wait hitmakers' vintage train to join their Railroad Revival Tour.
Gyllenhaal admits he was hesitant to take up the offer because he is not a fan of the nomadic lifestyle and desperately tried to make up excuses to convince his pal Marcus Mumford to leave him behind. However, the actor's efforts failed and he soon found himself rolling through the American countryside.
He explains, "The show finished in San Pedro and I was about ready to go home and Marcus Mumford came up to me and he goes, 'Get on the train, just get on the train'. And I was like, 'Ah, I have to admit, I like my life a little planned, I'm like that...' and I was like, 'I have so much to do, I can't.' He was like, 'What do you have to do?' 'Ah, so much, so much...' and I said, 'And you know, my contact lenses, I don't have an extra pair of contact lenses!' And sure enough, it was like, every band (on the tour) there and they gathered round and it was like, 'Get on the train! Get on the train!'"
Gyllenhaal ended up joining his pals on the road and he admits it was a "once in a lifetime" experience.
He continues, "They had a whole train cart with all instruments that was recorded the whole time and people would play, pick up any random instrument, it was incredible... I ended up staying two weeks on the train and I had my contact lenses sent to me by my mother!
"I kept the same pair (of lenses), I got some saline... and I would get new shirts... and I ripped my pants playing a pick up basketball game and I ended up having them sewn on the train..."
He even got the chance to play with Mumford & Sons onstage: "I ended up playing the horn, in the horn section, it's the only place to be!"
The travelling group ran into a little extra drama during the tour - the actor recently revealed he helped talk Texas state troopers out of searching the train after stopping them en route to the desert city of Marfa.

KATHMANDU: Hollywood actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Brolin have arrived in Nepal to shoot a new film based on the Everest bestseller "Into Thin Air", a government official said on Monday.
Brolin and Gyllenhaal, who are staying at a five-star hotel in Kathmandu, will play the lead roles in the film, named "Everest", which will focus on an ill-fated attempt to scale the world's tallest mountain in 1996.
Iceland's Baltasar Kormakur is directing the film, which tells the story of how eight climbers lost their lives when a rogue storm struck the mountain.
"A local agent applied for permission on behalf of Baltasar Kormakur to shoot 'Everest' and received the permission three days ago," communications ministry official Umakant Parajuli told AFP.
Parajuli said the team was permitted to shoot in the Himalayan nation for two weeks.
He declined to comment on whether the shoot would include a stint on the famed peak this month, when temperatures are expected to be at their lowest level annually.
British newspaper The Guardian reported last week that Gyllenhaal would play Scott Fisher, a US expedition leader who died in the disaster while Brolin will play Beck Weathers, an American doctor who survived the storm.
US mountaineering journalist Jon Krakauer, who accompanied the Everest climbers on their ascent, wrote about the tragedy in his 1997 bestseller.
Hundreds of climbers scale the peak every spring, while thousands more go trekking from Lukla, the nearest airport, to Everest base camp.
Last year, a brawl between three European climbers and Nepalese guides on Everest hit global headlines, raising concerns that the mountain had become too crowded in recent years with climbers eager to set new records.

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Baltasar Kormákur, an actor and director from Iceland, is currently in Nepal with the cast of his film ‘Everest’. Hollywood actors Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke and John Hawkes are part of the shooting team in Nepal.
The team that arrived on Sunday afternoon will be shooting for three days in Nepal, according to a source. They shot for the film around Thamel, Sohrakhutte and Boudha on Monday, while Tuesday morning they will be shooting at the domestic airport, added the source.

Both CAA and WME have crisis management teams that have been involved with Jake and Austin, since the beginning I think it's more obvious with WME.
But remember back in the CAA days all there post made by Jared on JJ that eluded Jake being Toothy - got mysterious changed after the fact. And a lot of Perez' got "fixed" after the fact too. Especially the one that said that Austin had gone to pick up BT from hospital.
This Christmas and New Year's is no different. They needed to fix the story. The one thing we do know is that the boys are still together. Why? Because there would be no need to for all of this brouhaha the last two weeks.
There are people who create the image, people who maintain the image, and others who clean up things that aren't in keeping with that image. It's a part of the business.
As for the twitter following - celebrities have to hand over their passwords to their people for all their social media. It's just the norm. Even college athletes have to give the coaching staff their social media information and passwords. They monitor what they athletes are saying and can take down inappropriate comments or connections etc.

There have been plenty o' tweets today on Mr Jake G-haal - mostly involving the breakup story, the proverbial Prisoners gushing, or Day After Tomorrow polar vortex comparisons. But it's quite difficult to find actual sightings of Jake on this day.
And it dawns on me that yeah, M & M, the "break-up" story could have been released today on purpose to cover for Jake's whereabouts. And that would be a big clue that he and Austin did father again five years ago and have a little one or little ones born around this time, most likely on this day, January 7.

The brawny actors decided to get some practice in ahead of their appearance in climbing drama 'Everest', but things took a downward turn after they lost sight of their direction markers.
A source told the National Enquirer: ''They'd started out in Malibu canyon and followed marked paths until they got to a rocky area where Jake wanted to climb. When they started back down the other side of the mountain, Jake kept insisting he knew the way but after an hour, Josh realized Jake had no clue.''
Facing the prospect of darkness falling, temperatures plummeting and dangerous wildlife including lions, coyotes and poisonous snakes attacking them, the pair appealed to the first people they came across, a Boy Scout troop, who helped bring them back down safely.
'Everest' is based on the true story of two ill-fated expeditions to the summit of the world's tallest peak - located in the Nepalese Himalayan mountains - which resulted in eight people's death when they were caught in a blizzard. It is set to be directed by Baltasar Kormakur and filmed in Iceland later this year.

ReplyDeleteActor Jake Gyllenhaal spent two weeks living like a homeless traveller after he was convinced to British folk rockers Mumford & Sons on a train tour across America.
The Hollywood star attended the band's show in San Pedro, California in April, 2011 and was then invited to hop onboard the I Will Wait hitmakers' vintage train to join their Railroad Revival Tour.
Gyllenhaal admits he was hesitant to take up the offer because he is not a fan of the nomadic lifestyle and desperately tried to make up excuses to convince his pal Marcus Mumford to leave him behind.
However, the actor's efforts failed and he soon found himself rolling through the American countryside.
He explains, "The show finished in San Pedro and I was about ready to go home and Marcus Mumford came up to me and he goes, 'Get on the train, just get on the train'. And I was like, 'Ah, I have to admit, I like my life a little planned, I'm like that...' and I was like, 'I have so much to do, I can't.' He was like, 'What do you have to do?' 'Ah, so much, so much...' and I said, 'And you know, my contact lenses, I don't have an extra pair of contact lenses!' And sure enough, it was like, every band (on the tour) there and they gathered round and it was like, 'Get on the train! Get on the train!'"
Gyllenhaal ended up joining his pals on the road and he admits it was a "once in a lifetime" experience.
He continues, "They had a whole train cart with all instruments that was recorded the whole time and people would play, pick up any random instrument, it was incredible... I ended up staying two weeks on the train and I had my contact lenses sent to me by my mother!
"I kept the same pair (of lenses), I got some saline... and I would get new shirts... and I ripped my pants playing a pick up basketball game and I ended up having them sewn on the train..."
He even got the chance to play with Mumford & Sons onstage: "I ended up playing the horn, in the horn section, it's the only place to be!"
The travelling group ran into a little extra drama during the tour - the actor recently revealed he helped talk Texas state troopers out of searching the train after stopping them en route to the desert city of Marfa.

KATHMANDU: Hollywood actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Brolin have arrived in Nepal to shoot a new film based on the Everest bestseller "Into Thin Air", a government official said on Monday.

Iceland's Baltasar Kormakur is directing the film, which tells the story of how eight climbers lost their lives when a rogue storm struck the mountain.
"A local agent applied for permission on behalf of Baltasar Kormakur to shoot 'Everest' and received the permission three days ago," communications ministry official Umakant Parajuli told AFP.
Parajuli said the team was permitted to shoot in the Himalayan nation for two weeks.
He declined to comment on whether the shoot would include a stint on the famed peak this month, when temperatures are expected to be at their lowest level annually.
British newspaper The Guardian reported last week that Gyllenhaal would play Scott Fisher, a US expedition leader who died in the disaster while Brolin will play Beck Weathers, an American doctor who survived the storm.
US mountaineering journalist Jon Krakauer, who accompanied the Everest climbers on their ascent, wrote about the tragedy in his 1997 bestseller.
Hundreds of climbers scale the peak every spring, while thousands more go trekking from Lukla, the nearest airport, to Everest base camp.
Last year, a brawl between three European climbers and Nepalese guides on Everest hit global headlines, raising concerns that the mountain had become too crowded in recent years with climbers eager to set new records.

The team that arrived on Sunday afternoon will be shooting for three days in Nepal, according to a source. They shot for the film around Thamel, Sohrakhutte and Boudha on Monday, while Tuesday morning they will be shooting at the domestic airport, added the source.
Director Kormákur had earlier said that the film will be shot in the Khumbu region in Nepal. The film will also be shot in Iceland and Italy.
