Love and Obstacles

Cynthia Nixon and family

October 4, 2010

This past weekend, the New Yorker held its annual festival, which -- as always -- includes a multitude of speakers and panels discussing a variety of topics. Top players in all professions were represented, including Stephen King, Malcolm Gladwell, Jake Gyllenhaal and Regina Spektor -- all chatting about themselves and their areas of expertise. Our favorite, though, would have to have been Cynthia Nixon on the panel discussion "Love and Obstacles: The Case for Gay Marriage."

Ms. Nixon, who is most known for her role has Miranda Hobbes in Sex and the City, and now is engaged to education activist Christine Marinoni, stole our hearts with her rather calm, well made argument. Not only does she make a good case, she makes an example of how to make said point.

“Gay people who want to marry have no desire to redefine marriage in any way. When women got the vote, they did not redefine voting. When African-Americans got the right to sit at a lunch counter alongside white people, they did not redefine eating out. They were simply invited to the table. And that is all we want to do. We have no desire to change marriage. We want to be entitled to not only the same privileges, but the same responsibilities as straight people.”

I think there are many more negative reviews, but there is still some kind of review embargo, like Lainey mentioned. Look at other movies that screened at festivals, they all have many more reviews.

His PR obviously does not give a fuck about Jake hinself.

IA. And it's not just the supposed "online fangirls" that think he's become a joke with the lame and obvious PR "romances." But he and his people don't seem to care if he looks the fool, as long as they think they're making him look straight.

Brokeback Mountain to be re-released in 3D said...

The Oscar-winning 2005 film depicting the romantic and sexual relationship between two men in the American West from 1963 to 1983 is presently getting the full stereoscopic 3D treatment, and will be re-released in theaters in the next few months.

James Schamus, head of Focus Features, which released the film in association with Paramount Pictures during its original run, said now is the right time to revisit the groundbreaking film and give it a "special twist" to entice those who've seen and loved it to come and see it again.

"The continuing oppression of homosexuals everywhere definitely provided the impetus for this re-release," said Schamus. "We decided to convert the film into 3D in order to highlight and emphasize this glaring and unfortunate reality."

An exact re-release date is yet to be determined, but Schamus said they "definitely want to get it out before the awards season gets underway."

Schamus said fans of the movie can expect a richer, fuller experience when they see the 3D version, adding that it will be "as if you are right there inside the tent with Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal."

"Personally, I can't wait to see the scene where Jake and Anne Hathaway get cozy in the car," said Schamus. "Anne's boobs are going to be glorious in 3D!"

Shamus sounds like a "jerk" with the tent comment then he crossed over into the "weird creep" territory with the Anne's boobs comment.

Milk it, Schamus! Why leave one of the few genuine cinematic masterpieces of the last decade alone when you can lower it to 3D level? :/

Hi Jack. Do you have any real live people in your life who listen to you pontificate? You seem so ignorant, argumentative and judgemental I can't imagine how insufferable you must be in real life.

Anonymous said...

Why are you so angry about standard Hollywood procedure? Nobody discusses their private life when promoting their latest film.

^^ It's really useless trying to explain reason to uspset and angry LOL so'called fans. They're just upset. Jake don't wear the rainbow flag on his back. There is really no other reason.

By my posting on this blog am I supposed to automatically hate everything Jake does and say? Is that how it goes? Sorry, but I won't be doing that.

^^ That's what the upset fanboys and slash grannies want. Let's get mad at Jake because he's lying to us and hiding his relationship with Austin and hiding BT. LOL

I don't subscribe to being bullied into "groupthink". And that's exactly what you're doing.

^^^ I used to think he/she was ignorant to what they were doing, but that's what he/she wants, "GROUP THINK". Not rational independant thinking. Oh NO. Notice how WE is always thrown around as if everyone agrees with his opinion or attitude. This makes the upset Jake only Gay fan feel validated in his/her attacks.

Get a clue - pointing out Jake's hypocrisy with regards to his fauxmances is not "automatically hating everything he says an does." It's being realistic. Much better than being a dreamy-eyed fangirl.

^^ Ok what are you? An upset fan? An I like only Gay Jake fan?
If Jake does not come out I'm gonna keep talking shit about him as I see it Fan?
If any of these apply to you, then why are YOU here?
Why not leave if you don't like what he's doing or become? Oh I know, YOU want to see the Train wreck, right?

YOU are such a wonderful Jake Fan on this Jake site.

Well, it's not a good sign when even Gyllenhaalics liked BV better than LAOD. The NC-17 rating for BV will probably intrigue more people rather than put them off.

Jake's career prost BBM honestly sucks. The one boy ods on prescription drugs the other boy's career went down the toilet. It should be both boys being at the top of their game and alive (Heath's case).

BV won't make more money than LAOD, please. BV is popular on entertainment and film sites but most people have no idea about the movie or who Michelle and Gosling are. Same with Jake. Anne is more known than all three together and there's a lot of promo for LAOD on TV. NC-17 rating will kill BV because a lot of theaters don't pick up films with that rating.

Agree. In my country Anne is definitely the most famous. Then Jen from DC (most of my friends don't know her real life name), then Jake and then Ryan.

"BLUE VALENTINE is going to crash LAOD in box office"

Sorry, but this is nonsense. Like the poster above said, NC-17 and also a shitty release date...and most important, the film is kind of depressing, showing the process of a dying relationship/marriage.

Although the film will be eaten up by the critics and perhaps getting some recognition coming awards season.

I checked RT - BV is 82% fresh (with 11 reviews so far) and has a "want to see" user rating of 77% (1817 votes), LAOD only the two negative reviews but 81% "want to see" with 8206 votes!

For comparison - 500 Days of Summer from last year is 87% fresh/critics and 81% fresh/audience.

Anne Hathaway Gets "Nasty" Over Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Swift Talk

US magazine

A pretty good LAOD review said...

Has this been posted before?:

REVIEW: ‘Love and Other Drugs’Grade: B+

I will say up front that I am a sucker for a good love story. My favorite type of film is, without competition, the romantic comedy. To me it is less about the comedic elements, those are just there to add life to the story. A true romantic comedy is centered around one, simple question: do you believe the romance? Every filmmaker that has ever attempted to tackle this genre, from Capra, to Reiner, to Allen, has battled endlessly to strike true romance on film. If a film can captivate that kind of tenderness and emotional depth, most other flaws seem inconsequential. Love and Other Drugs is a flawed film. But I believed the romance, boy did I ever…

Love and Other Drugs is Edward Zwick’s latest film and is something of a peculiarity for him. He is known mostly for such films as Glory and Courage Under Fire. His most recent film, Defiance, was also a war epic. Hence, turning this direction caused many raised eyebrows. That said, he is not totally knew to the genre, he started here actually.

The film tells the story of Jamie Randall, a pharmaceutical sales person that has a way with the ladies. You know the drill, and as much as I hate to admit it, for a majority of the film’s runtime, it pretty much just runs the drill. We have our male protagonist that loves sex but not relationships, and our quirky, hip, nonconformist woman who initially shows no interest. Then they get involved and problems emerge when emotions show up. The film’s catch is that she has Parkinson’s disease. I appreciate that the film reveals this immediately rather than trying to keep her reasoning for wanting distance a mystery. But that doesn’t make the concept any more original.

There is a subtle irony that she is sick and he works in the medical field, but the film doesn’t really develop it. And I am glad that it doesn’t because Viagra (the drug that Jamie is selling) doesn’t really have anything to do with Parkinson’s. Instead the film plays on the irony that he is selling Viagra and he is a sexaholic, but he chooses her instead.

The film falls into more clichés and some of its worst moments the overweight, Jonah Hill-style brother of Jamie who moves in because he is having problems with his lady. His purpose in the film is to be jealous of his brother until he has sex and discovers that relationships are more important. And he provides for plenty of alarmingly humorous gags.

Despite everything I just mentioned, the film is good, even great if you are someone who loves romantic comedies as irrationally as I do. But it is not this year’s Up in the Air. This film is a comedy at heart and it only loses sight of that to get deeply romantic. The film does not really say anything profound about the medical industry or Parkinson’s. It tells a love story and makes you laugh. And there is nothing wrong with that, which is why I liked it.

Anne Hathaway doesn't want to hear about Jake Gyllenhaal's fledgling romance with Taylor Swift!

At a Love and Other Drugs press conference in NYC Saturday, Hathaway jokingly bristled when her hunky costar, 29, was asked about Swift, 20.

"Hang on, hang on. I have to say something. I have been Jake's on screen love interest for years," Hathaway, 27, interjected. (She and Gyllenhaal were first paired together in 2005's Brokeback Mountain.) "You keep the conversation to me and only me or otherwise I'm going to get nasty! Thank you."

Gyllenhaal quipped: "Don't get Ella Enchanted pissed off."

"Don't get Ella Enchanted pissed off, and I'm not obedient," the actress added.

Gyllenhaal did speak about their new film's theme and the quest to find true love. "The stakes are always high in love," he said. "It happened premature for these [characters], but when you do love someone you have to think about those things early and hope for the best, whatever that is."

A pretty good LAOD review continued said...

I still feel as though I am writing a negative, scathing review of this film. I assure you, I am not. Because, as you probably noticed I haven’t mentioned anything about our two lead performers. I will say this bluntly: this is my new favorite Jake Gyllenhaal performance. He literally delves into the realm of Jim Carrey with this role. He is wild, charismatic, and hysterical. But he has a heart, and he pulls it off even when the script can’t keep up with him. Anne Hathaway is at the top of her game as well, but the script gives her a little less to work with. She shines in a particularly brilliant scene that shows real Parkinson’s patients gathered to share each other’s stories. Hathaway sits in the audience with tears of joy, marveling at their accomplishments.

This film is a romance at heart, and that is where it truly delivers. Sure it may be a little off on the script and editing; and maybe it did posses potential to be more. All I know is that there are moments in this film where you can literally feel the sexual tension bursting from the screen. The cinematography and score work together to elevate the romantic tone. One beautiful shot in which Hathaway rejects Gyllenhaal shows snow swirling around her at the edge of an alleyway. Another shows only their skin through a blurred, steamy window, also with snow blowing around in front of them.

In the final moments of the film, Jamie is required to make his cliché, final resolution request to be with her. Again, the film goes through the motions with this scene. But here, there is only one subject that needs to be touched on. And while the film stumbles a bit to get there, it goes where it needs to go, and says all that it needs to say. It ends on the right note and it is fun to watch it get there. This is the best love story I have seen all year, and because I am a sucker for this genre, I will probably remember it at the end of the year. But I ‘m not sure ifAcademy voters or other critics will.

The Bottom Line: Here is a truly romantic film that tries a little too hard to score its laughs. It is a good romantic comedy, but it is no masterpiece.

Gyllenhaal, who split from Reese Witherspoon late last year, spent two weekends in a row with Swift. The duo palled around in the NYC area (brunching in Brooklyn, apple-picking upstate) Oct. 23 and 24th, and hit California (for some poolside time and an ice cream date) over the Halloween weekend.

I still LOL at those two phrases^

Anonymous said...

^^I'm glad he liked Jake's performance, but I'm not sure I care for the Jim Carrey comparison. Carrey can be scenery-chewing and over-the-top sometimes.

LOL, you're right, supposed girlfriends are no negativity usually ;). I think Jake told Anne that he wants to keep the talk about Taylor out of movie promo and that's why she took the liberty to step in.

Anonymous said...

Oh please! This whole Taylor thing is pure promo shit. There is no other reason for pimping the Taylor/Jake pictures than the imminent release of LAOD.

Even if there is the chance Jake is straigth and he has a secret non-famous girlfriend somewhere, the fact that those pics were around the net a week before the usual movie-promo crapfest is enough prove that this is all fabricated, including Jake's and Anne's reactions during the interview.

I think Anne is great, but oh boy, is she a Hollywood player... much more than Jake even.

Proof that gay or straight, hot is hot. Out with it Toothy, all gay men and women should be allowed to live freely, and most importantly, we want to see you hook up with someone super hot and maybe younger: Nevis Divine anyone?

Jake Gyllenhaal: Brokeback Was Just Acting!

Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway team up—and majorly get it on—for the first time since Brokeback Mountain in their new rom-com Love and Other Drugs (which we can't stop raving about).

"It's different because this story is about us," Jake told us on the carpet for his premiere at the AFI Fest presented by Audi. "The other story was about how we were not into each other."

And Gyllenhaal is hoping his chemistry with Hathaway in this flick will set the horny record straight. Way straight:

"I would hope that this could clear the air that it was acting," J.G. said referring to his homolicious role in Brokeback with late BFF Heath Ledger.

"[Anne and I] have sex like 16 or 17 times in this one," laughed Jake to reporters about his and "Annie's" chemistry (which is real good).

"To be making a movie also that can be easily cliché and work with someone that talented just ups the game," Gyllenhaal told us about why he had so much fun on this par-tick flick.

"Maybe it's our experience in movies past or our love for each other as friends, but there's real stuff going on. That makes it more special than any romantic comedy I've seen lately."

Oh yeah, and the fact that Jake's hot tush, abs and invitation muscles are on display totally doesn't hurt either.

Once we saw the flick for a second time and could pay attention to the acting instead of bod, we think J.G. could get his name thrown around the mix during awards season. At least for a Globe!

BTW, we are also way prepared after you guys check this movie out to answer your "can Anne and Jake please be together in real life?" questions in the Bitch-Backs.

Sorry—strictly plutonic there folks.

But, Jake, don't totally distance yourself from Brokeback. That role and this one equally showcase your amazing talent and yumness.

We'll take ya either way!

Jake Gyllenhaal Thinks It's Too Soon for Taylor Swift to See Him Naked

The whirlwind romance between Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift has been picking up steam recently, with the two seen holding hands and making out in NYC. But sources close to the actor tell me it's still way too early for Taylor to see Jake in his birthday suit, which is why Gyllenhaal hasn't invited the young singer to the premiere of his new film, 'Love and Other Drugs.'

"Jake is making no secret that he spends most of the film naked," a friend laughs. "In fact, you get to see so much of Jake in the original cut that the director made a few edits to try and take the focus off Jake's naked ass and back onto the story."

The fairy tale romance between Taylor and Jake has shown no signs of stopping, especially after Jake surprised Taylor last week by turning up as she pre-recorded five songs atop 230 Fifth Ave. for NBC's Thanksgiving Special.

"Taylor had two special visitors that night to wish her luck -- her mom and Jake," a witness tells me. "During her 55-minute set, Taylor took a 15-minute 'wardrobe change' break, but really she spent most of it backstage flirting with Jake. You can tell they are both really into each other, but are trying very hard to take everything slowly."

Which would explain why Jake isn't yet ready for his new girlfriend to see him naked just yet!

Every week between now and January 25 when the nominations are announced, movies and stars will help themselves — or sometimes, hurt themselves — in the Oscar race.
For the third week (last week's post right here), we continue our coverage of Vulture's Oscar Futures to find out who's up, who's down, and who's currently leading the race for a coveted nomination – this week, one change in best movie, a few in acting , and not much else, so I’ll add a few trailers for the possible best picture nominees (some are pretty amazing), and those who saw something new on the weekend can update us on what they thought about it.
....

Best Actress
UP: Rachel McAdams, Morning Glory. "In order to become a Best Actress contender this year, you have to play a character who suffers through anguish and misery," notes Jeff Wells. "But if you didn't have to do that, Rachel McAdams' irrepressible, never-say-die Morning Glory character could leap right in."

DOWN: Anne Hathaway, Love and Other Drugs. Not a single vote from the Gurus of Gold this week.

CURRENT PREDIX: Annette Bening, The Kids Are All Right; Nicole Kidman, Rabbit Hole; Jennifer Lawrence, Winter's Bone; Lesley Manville, Another Year; Natalie Portman, Black Swan.

Yeah, that's because some idiots who didn't even see the movie started Oscar rumors and now reviewers, instead of seeing it and rating it as what it is, will feel the need to put it down by mocking those early Oscar rumors. It's annoying.

Count me in for doubters on both counts. I've realized Jake would say pretty much anything to sell his movies and to look straight.

I for one, believe him. I really do.

Blue Valentine blue balls
Right? Would this movie just f-cking come out already? It’s been at every festival, it premiered at the AFI Fest in Hollywood on Saturday night. But still it won’t hit theatres until late December, in limited release (!), and with a dumbass NC17 rating. I have blue balls from wanting to see it again. So I can’t imagine how it must be if you haven’t seen it at all and love him so much.

Here’s Ryan Gosling at the AFI event looking handsome and hot and beautiful. I guess I shouldn’t complain. We have been seeing a lot of him lately. Why am I complaining?

As for that NC17 controversy, Michelle Williams was asked about it by Entertainment Weekly recently and while the decision is to be appealed this month, she hopes they don’t cut the scene that the MPAA is having issues with.

"I’m happy for it to stay just like it is. Genuinely, I am. Movies get to have long lives and it’ll be judged and rejudged in 10 or 20 or 30 years, and I’ll be curious to see how it stands. (The rating) seems like such a condemnation. It feels like such a slap on the hand, like you’ve been a bad kid or something."

I just saw Prince of Persia on the plane on the way over to London. Goddamn it was for sh-t. And violent, SO violent. A Disney movie and it was SO violent. And that was, what?, rated PG?

Look at this trailer. Aside from obvious heartbreak, what is so threatening about this trailer?

when he says the same about Heath there are doubters. I wonder why?

Maybe because words are only words, Jake's public actions post Heath's death don't back them up but let's not get into it.

re the love during filming of BBM that Jake talks about now. I wonder what Gilliam whom Heath used to call up frequently during the shoot because he felt lonely and unhappy would have to say about it. ;)

Michelle must have been happy to hear about this. Heath being lonely and unhappy all the while he was fucking her on set. Sweet.
Gilliam needs to keep his mouth shut more often and stop blabbing about stuff Heath confided in him.

Michelle doesn't need to feel anything about Terry's sayings about Heath because she was no longer his partner when he died and she has moved on since the split and the passing.

Actors say lots kind of shit during interviews. Maybe it sound good for Heath to say he felt lonely to portrait the intense character actor image he liked so much to show off. Then Jake thought it was a nice tribute to Heath talking about "the magical time" during filming.

They say things that suit the moment, that's all. That is why they often contradict themselves and sometimes the fact of life are the ones that contradict those sayings.

Jake Gyllenhaal Dodges Taylor Talk

If this isn't a definitive sign that two stars are dating, what is?

At his Love and Other Drugs press conference on Saturday at the Waldorf=Astoria in Manhattan, Jake Gyllenhaal dodged a question about his relationship with Taylor Swift. And he wasn't alone in that pursuit.

Asked what's going on between the actor and the country star, Gyllenhaal's Love costar Anne Hathaway quickly interjected, mock-shouting at the reporter who inquired (seemingly in order to save her friend).

As an uncomfortable-looking Gyllenhaal kept silent, Hathaway yelled, "Hang on, hang on, I have to say something! I have been Jake's onscreen love interest for years, all right? You keep the conversation to me and only me, otherwise I'm going to get nasty!"

Gyllenhaal simply quipped, "You get Ella Enchanted pissed off ..." (Swift similarly avoided questions about her rumored beau on Ellen DeGeneres last month.)

Meanwhile, if Swift was also in New York City over the weekend, and if the pair did meet up again, they did a good job of keeping it under wraps. She was in Nashville Sunday to rehearse for the CMA Awards.

Tell us: When they are ready to go public, what should be Jake and Taylor's cutesy combined moniker?

1. What should the secret couple get nicknamed?

* Swiftenhaal

I watched Brokeback Mountain last night on Ovation channel. That film is as masterful and beautiful now as it was five years ago. I have not seen Love and Other Drugs but judging by the mixed reviews/feedback, I seriously doubt it's on the level of artistic masterpiece that Brokeback Mountain is and was. Jake is an idiot to distance himself from BBM considering he'll always be known for it.

Anonymous said...

posted on DL:

"And Gyllenhaal is hoping his chemistry with Hathaway in this flick will set the horny record straight. Way straight:

"I would hope that this could clear the air that it was acting," J.G. said referring to his homolicious role in Brokeback with late BFF Heath Ledger.

"[Anne and I] have sex like 16 or 17 times in this one," laughed Jake to reporters about his and "Annie's" chemistry (which is real good)."

This is exactly what I thought when I heard he was doing a romcomcom with Anne Hathaway.

He wants to show the world that "Jack Twist" is a straight man after all and wants to have sex with Lureen/Anne.

Now the image of Gay Jack with Lureen will be erased by the image of Jake&Anne from LAOD.Simple as that.

Heath got lucky by impregnating Michelle Williams. That way he got the approval of the world by showing that in real life, Ennis DOES have a wife and kid instead of fooling around with his male friend.

Jake is demostrating that he DOES LIKE sex with Anne, even if in his case, it is only in movie characters.

It may sound too much conspirative but this is what I believed at the begining and Jake's stupid talking just comfirmed it.

6:25PM, it's clear now that you were right. Who would've guessed that Jake himself would confirm it with his own words. Anyway, when I'm wrong I admit it. I scoffed at your "conspirative" theory at the time, thinking that not even Jake would do something so obvious. But you called it exactly right, and I wouldn't put anything past him now.

Here's the BI from Nov. 5:

Two Celebrities Create One Great Photo Op

BlindGossip – This rumored couple-of-the-moment isn’t really a couple. They’re actually just spending time together and rehearsing for an upcoming film in which they’re going to be playing a couple. But they are both popular celebrities – and they do look make a good-looking pair – so their time together will make for some really great photo ops. And while there is nothing romantic going on, don’t expect them to let up on the photo ops. They both have projects coming out, she enjoys the publicity, and he won’t say no to anything that diverts from rumors about him being gay (even though he is looking for a new boyfriend right now).

Oh, and would someone please come up with a good nickname for this couple?

Anonymous said...

Not until their first piggyback ride.

Anonymous said...

The Jake/Taylor rumors started a week earlier, 10/25? The BI supposedly pointing to them came out after, you do the math.

Another BI made up after the fact. They assumed there would be photo ops after the pics in Brooklyn but so far there haven't been any.

Their projects are her album and his movie, again info that was out there before the 11/5 BI.

IMO they used rumors regarding Jake and Taylor and they googled to se if they are attached to any film.

Jake and Zak Efron were rumored to be up for the male lead for Rock of Ages last year, since then both Jake and Zak's name have not been attached to this but Taylor, Cyrus Miley, Cruise and Seth Rogen have.

I think where ever this BI originated from thought that Jake was still attached, he may well be along with Zak for the lead but so far their names have not resurfaced.

It would be funny if Jake has officially dropped out of this movie, I sure hope so, it sounds like crap.

PS When PR starts up a fake romance, it usually on set, noy way before and not if the female lead hasn't even excepted the role offered to her, id she declines they will have to revise their BI

Reeke rumours started BEFORE the filming of Rendition.
Take my word, please don't make me google, I feel lazy today ;)

Anonymous said...

I think it's pathetic that Jake has to get Swift to lobby for the lead in a movie if correct because that's what it sounds like.

With Rendition Jake and Reese were already cast.

Swift was offered the role, Jake as of last year was in competition with Zak, how low can you go.

It could be that the studio took both Jake and Zak out of the mix and will go elsewhere and Jake wants Swift to get them to hire him if she takes the role.

Jake is pathetic

It'll be more pathetic if Jake wants to be in a movie with Taylor Swift and has to beat out Disney pretty boy no talent 8 years his junior Zac Efron. LOL!

Michelle's talking in about Blue Valentine.

I: The main reason why the movie is sometimes so hard to watch is that there are so many moments where you two seem like the perfect couple, but then you’re in danger of letting it all slip away. Were there times during filming where you had a hard time rationalizing your character’s behavior?

Have you seen the new cut? Some of the answers may be in the new cut. But from the moment I said yes to the film, my next sentence was, “How am I going to leave him?” Because in my experience of the world, women don’t leave men who are essentially good fathers. Despite the fact that they might have a whole litany of other problems, you don’t leave somebody who’s a good dad. I might have driven Derek a little crazy—every time I would see him I would say, “How do I leave this guy? What’s so awful about him? At the end of the day he loves me and he loves our daughter.” What I finally came to is, it’s not him, it’s me.

Not true. There are pictures of Heath dropping Matilda and her nanny off at LAX . She stayed with him in LA during a break in his TDK filming schedule. Michelle was at home in NYC.

When Michelle was filming Matilda was with her nanny, that means Michelle wasn't with her permanently. All actor who are parents work and some have production companies in other cities. It's a double standard to hold it against Heath but not Michelle who worked as well and left Matilda with the nanny.

IA that this b.s. is very disappointing. Not to mention stupid. It's ALL ACTING, Jake. How does ACTING in your new movie, cancel out ACTING in a previous movie? Playing a gay character doesn't make you gay and playing a straight character doesn't make you straight, no matter how many times the characters "have sex."

You are talking of the time when they already have split. But when they were still a couple, Michelle kept working and took Matilda everywhere with her. Heath begun going to Los Angeles frequently to make those music videos with The Masses. So, he didn't stop working to be with Matilda, he just stop doing films for a while, but he kept working and travelling with The Masses.

I disagree. They're clearly HEAVILY promoting this movie. For BBM or Brothers the amount of interviews, adds and promo work in general wasn't anywhere near the one for LAOD considering LAOD is still over two weeks away from the premiere.

Anne is definitely too comfortable with Jake. Think about it, he is her age, good looking and charming. Let's not forget she has a boyfriend and he a rumored girlfriend. Despite all that she doesn't mind letting Jake put his hand on her knee or her intertwining hands with him? Hello? I see no ST whatsoever either. I look at other actors who had a similar movie experience and there is tons of awkwardness or ST (Ryan, Michelle anyone?).
