Shutter Island opens in U.S. Feb 19. Which may be a very very bad time. The Winter Olympics are Feb 12-28. People going to the movies instead of watching the Olympics? It will depend on broadcast times, i.e. if the public will get to see the competition live (will tune in) or if it will be tape delayed when the winners have already been video streamed, twittered and onlined announced and discussed 8 hours earlier (won't tune in).
Most regular TV will be reruns because of the Games. Also no HW awards ceremonies are being held in Feb because of the Olympics. Shutter Island and all the Feb 2010 movie releases will be for non-sport types, people tired of the Olympics, who already saw/heard the final score, and when nothing else is on TV.

Stephen Gyllenhaal, Running on Empty
I think this will be my last posting about Stephen—the heartbreak of watching him slip into the void is just too much.
In less than two years he lost his talent, his money, his youth (he’ll be 60 in exactly one month), his career, his home, his mother, his wife, the respect of his children, and now he’s lost his mind. I never really realized before how much the core of his identity relied on being Jake and Maggie’s father, as it once relied on being Hugh and Virginia’s son. Now stripped of every material distinction and every familial aspect, where is he?
A lot of people are able to stumble as he’s stumbled and pick themselves up with grace, humility, perspective, and even humor. He's just not one of them. And I can’t help him. I don’t even want to try anymore.
What was the last straw for me (rather than, say, the last straw for his ex-wife, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter for Running on Empty)? Well, yesterday it seems that he deleted all the comments on his blog he probably considered to be “negative”—but he left his own replies, which make no sense when standing alone.
Take a look at “The Dance” and “Careful There Pardner” as well as this, this, and this comment.
What were the negative comments? As far as I can make out, for example, someone mentioned that he should have shaved before going in front of the camera for one of his YouTube self-portrait videos; another said he should have closed the bathroom door behind him before starting the camera, as a view of the toilet was distracting; and yet someone else corrected him on the spelling of the woman in Ted Kennedy’s 1969 Chappaquiddick sex-booze-death scandal—he called her Mary Jo Kohekohe (her name was Mary Jo Kopechne, and it’s a famous name to people who recall the 60s, as he’s certainly old enough to).
A man that frightened of the least countravention to what he perceives himself to be—and wants others to perceive him to be—cannot be communicated with. But I’m in the communication business. I’m a writer, a reviewer, an editor, a publisher. I love to read, I love to understand, and I loved his books from the moment I got his manuscripts.
Now I don’t know how to feel about his books anymore. I don’t know what he was trying to say, if he was even trying to say anything in the first place. Having to deal with Stephen, whether personally or professionally, finally drove me to doubt my own abilities to communicate. And for a woman in my profession, that’s a kind of death.
LOL. When WDW posts any Jake pics that have the Chin in them, which is 95% of any Jake pics, according to some sad thick-headed poster, she's a Reeke promoter. Next thing you know, this poster will say ANY Jake pics with or without the Chin, since he's bearding, is promoting Reeke.
FYI: the flynet pics didn't say "Exclusive" so they might be at other places.
Btw its hotter than hell in SoCal this week and last. At least 100F inland and 95F at the beach, no breeze, and with all the surrounding fires the air is thick and nasty. Why's Jake wearing pants, big thick shoes and a buttondown? Same with the Venice pics of Reeke last week. Even the Chin with her ugly get-ups, they are way too hot for this weather. Makes me suspect the pics were taken at another time. No one in their right mind would be wearing pants and a long shirt, unless they had to go to work in a building all day with the AC set to freezing. And we know Jake isn't doing that.
I wouldn't be surprised if Jake was somewhere else (like NY from that tweet) and those pics were taken about a month ago when Reeke and the rugrats were in LA, but released now when the Chin is in LA by herself getting papped with the kids so it looks like Jake is there too.
