This Is a Question of Fairness
It is by no means a fast and easy path, but the cause of same-sex marriage is moving forward — proof that justice can triumph over wedge politics and prejudice. It happened this week in Maine and New Hampshire, where both states’ legislatures voted to legalize same-sex marriage and promptly put the final say to their governors.
In New Hampshire, Gov. John Lynch — who previously defined marriage as strictly between a man and a woman — promised his “best decision” after consulting lawmakers and constituents. Mr. Lynch would be wise also to consult his neighbor in Maine, Gov. John Baldacci, who signed his state’s same-sex marriage bill. He previously had opposed the idea, with the familiar hedge of supporting the half-step of civil unions.
Mr. Baldacci described his change of heart — and what we hope is the changing sentiment of many other American politicians. “I have come to believe that this is a question of fairness and of equal protection under the law, and that a civil union is not equal to civil marriage,” he said. Precisely.
Maine was the fifth state to legalize same-sex marriage. We urge Mr. Lynch to make New Hampshire the sixth. Similar proposals are pending in other states, with a major debate expected in the New York Legislature.
This week, the City Council of the District of Columbia took a preliminary step, voting 12 to 1, to recognize marriages between gay people certified in other states. A fuller debate is anticipated on a proposal to legalize same-sex unions. Unfortunately, there already are calls for Congress to once more tread on home rule and block this progress in the nation’s capital.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is right to caution against such grandstanding. Governor Baldacci heard the people speak. Congress should listen.

Which Network TV Reality Star told our source that he is considering ‘coming out’ in order to boost his image and score some pricey interviews? If you’ve guessed that he isn’t gay, you’d be right. He thinks at the very least being bisexual would cause a stir. He also told this source that his agent wasn’t comfortable with the idea and the star is thinking about going against the agent’s advice and possibly getting a new agent. (And if the Agent to this star is reading this, they needn’t worry. We think it was all talk, and you’ve done great things for his career.) Watch for speculation about his sexuality in the future. It will happen, but it will be manufactured. Not Gordon Ramsey. (BuzzFoto via Blind Gossip)
ReplyDeleteIt keeps rearing (or rear-ending) its head every so often, but the rumors about this HUGE movie star just won’t go away. Previously partial to a blond male model from Croatia, his new plaything is a very hot, black car mechanic. (Holy Moly via Blindsmack)

A source claims that Natalie Portman is the reason Sean Penn filed for divorce from Robin Wright Penn, and that they're still seeing each other. "She stimulates him in ways no other person has, mentally or professionally," says a source. "There's a lot more there with Natalie than any of the other girls Sean's been with." [Star]
ReplyDeleteGreat! Got to ask Nat to put in a good word for me.

ReplyDeleteReese is the one in control? Please ask yourself WHY Reese Wwas enlisted to stand about with Jake Gyllenhaal in the first place.
She didn't go seeking him out. She didn't need to hide herself from the world.
To blame her for everything he is or has become is beyond ridiculous. Sure, she may be a nice or not-nice individual, whatever, but to make as if make has no control over his life or actions is to be beyond deluded. He chose this path. He is a product of his own image machine and the times we live in.
But then it's always easier to slam the woman because she must be the one making the guy crazy. Nothing to do with the fact he's probably half nutty himself by now and probably well on the slippery slope to Tom Cruise delusions of grandeur.
On another note, why would it surprise anyone that Stephen Gyllenhaal would nto be comfortable around gays? Some of you folks are so naive./
God, you can't be that naive!
Reese wasn't enlisted - Reese wanted high profile "boyfriend better than Ryan" as soon as possible after the divorce. Jake was the best candidate.
Who said that Stephen isn't comfortable around gays?
"She didn't go seeking him out."
ReplyDeleteYes, she did. Well, she didn't need to because Reese knew Jake for years.

ReplyDeleteDon't know if I mentioned this earlier, I watched (yeah, I know! but I was on my exercise bike and TV was crap that day!) a bio of Reese on E!news a few days back. And Jake was promoted as an old friend of Ryan's. In it there is a young Jake saying his family knew Ryan's family and how happy he was for Ryan & Reese!! This was when she was expecting Ava and before they got married.
So by saying Jake is a friend of Ryan's the implication was, imo, Jake knew what happened for the marriage to fail and he still hooked up with Reese which means....it's all Ryan's fault! sly, manipulative bitch or what?!

It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it. Because the AfterElton Hot 100 has a limited number of winners (I think it's 100) there are going to be some hunks that don't make the cut. We're not saying these men don't deserve to be on the list, but they just didn't garner enough votes this time. Take a look if you want to be shocked, and possibly outraged, but for heaven's sake ... don't kill the messenger!
ReplyDeleteRyan Kwanten. This one hurts. The poor guy gets naked every week for your enjoyment and you can't reward him with a spot on the list? For shame!
Shia LaBeouf. How many summer blockbusters does he have to star in to get some recognition?
Daniel Radcliffe. After all the jokes about showing his wizard wand, he still couldn't get enough votes?
Tyson Beckford. Anyone who can survive this current disastrous season of Make Me A Supermodel deserves some compensation
Thomas Roberts. The out newsy guy didn't make the list. Maybe he was just too gorgeous?
Ed Westwick. The Gossip Girl star didn't make the cut, but will his co-star Chace Crawford?
Andy Samberg. The adorkable SNL star didn't make the cut, even after his well-received gay turn in I Love You, Man

ReplyDeleteUS Reekly has Maggie's wedding article on IHJ. Wedding guests have shrunk from 40 to 30. Apparently the B&B place has only 9 rooms. So where did all the guests stay? And not a single pap pic of any of the guests. Moving around town, arriving at the wedding, nada. BUT we get enough pics of Reeke lying in the dust and nuzzling while Mama G, a PR assistant and 2 paps take pics. If this doesn't say photo op and fake relationship, I really don't know what will. It amazes me that there are still people (babblers) who think this relationship is real.
The excuse for Reese not traveling with Jake is that she was filming in Philadelphia. Was she??
Posted on OMG by Destiny
ReplyDeleteHey flf, you beat me to the US Reekly. I just looked at it and People while at the drugstore. Some things to add.
The US story is a two page spread, with only a box taking up maybe a quarter of the bottom of the second page about Maggie and Peter. The rest is Reeke all the way. How wonderful this topped their previous romantic trips to Italy. How Reese was the only non-family celebrity at the wedding. How Jake is so comfortable with Reese now that he even engaged in pda while his mother looked on. Reese wears the pants and will decide when they marry.
Also, Reeke is looking for a place in Philly so they can be together during her film shoot.
People has a one page article, again all about Reeke, with emphasis on the pda. Jake would "marry her tomorrow" but Reese isn't ready. Again, just a tiny box in the corner about Maggie and Peter.
Summary: Jake can't be gay because look at all the pda, in front of his mother yet, and he'd marry her in a heartbeat if only Reese were willing.
No wonder Maggie is so pissed. Jake used her wedding to once again sell the world on how "straight" he is.
Reese's movie is going to film in LA, Washington D.C. and Philly. It's entirely possible that LA scenes could be shot this month but it's more likely that she is doing costume fittings, test photos in each costume, softball practice and so forth. She is always working and always busy so a quick three day trip to Italy was all she could squeeze in.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, Reese Witherspoon is a working mother! LOL
ReplyDelete"How Jake is so comfortable with Reese now that he even engaged in pda while his mother looked on."
ReplyDeleteHuh?! US Reekly is selling two years of relationship, but they still feel the need to mention "comfortable with Reese".
That's simply ridiculous. Is there a PR message I'm missing?

ReplyDelete"Cameron was preparing to make Avatar – Cameron has an interesting idea about changing the ways movies are made. You just wear gym clothes and run towards someone and on the screen it comes up in full costume and a battle scene. Or you wave sticks and it appears as a banshee flying; the technology is a step up from Gollum and his harness in Lord of the Rings. This might change our experience of movies too — to make them more like games that we take as a metaphor for life, like World of Warcraft for example.
Jake Gyllenhaal, fresh from Brokeback Mountain, was said to be the first choice for the lead but to have turned the gig down. Cameron, who has a reputation for working with unknown actors, defaulted to Sam. The producers, considering a couple of hundred million dollars to make the movie, wanted a name star. So Sam went to LA for an audition, to convince them otherwise."

"Jake Gyllenhaal, fresh from Brokeback Mountain, was said to be the first choice for the lead but to have turned the gig down."
ReplyDeleteJake turning down Cameron?!? I don't believe it.
If Jake did (and possibly with other directors too) maybe thats why he's having a hard time getting parts now. Maybe word got out he's too snobby/picky and some directors blackballed him.
ReplyDeleteHe was asking for too much $$$ after BBM.
ReplyDelete$$$ is part of the negotiation and Avatar had a huge, huge budget.
ReplyDeleteTalk was that Jake wanted too much money after BBM, that's why so many passed on him while he was hot.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for Maggie, made a footnote at her own wedding. She also got screwed when Papa/Cantara revealed her baby's name so this is a repeat.
Re Reese, of course she had a lot to gain by teaming up with Jake. She is almost over the hill by HW standards and got dumped for a younger woman. A very high profile dumping indeed.
Even A list actors are working for "small" pay if the project is interesting, promissing or prestigious (Woody Allen films).
ReplyDeleteUnofficial Blackballing: Could explain why he looked uncomfortable and extrememly unconfident presenting on the Golden Globe stage. Fincher might be one of the few director friends/proponents he has right now, letting him do the BButton GG lead-in and the Santa Barbara FFestival thing. Also might explain his "little boy aura" (hard to describe, theres no other way to put it!) at the Vanity Fair party, why he looked like he was tagging along with his mama and why Sean Penn's expression was like "uh huh not impressed."
ReplyDeleteAlong with turning down top directors, failing to issue a diplomatic two sentence statement about Heath's passing (what was he waiting for, to see if illicit drugs or suicide was involved to see if he would make a statement or not?) and his over the top bearding (who the hell wants to have Reese and her photo ops on their set?) I can see why Jake has been brought down a notch or two in Hollywood.

ReplyDeleteITALY VIA TEXAS
I got my heels back in Texas dirt on Thursday.
It feels good to be back on my native soil.
The homeland.
The Mother-Country.
Humid as all get-out. Curly hair. Incredibly gracious people.
Almost as nice as Canadians. God I love Canadians.
As soon as I landed I saw the most beautiful image.
I pulled into a gas station to fill up and a little black
sedan swept up to the pump across from me.
A gorgeous young blond lass jumped out of her car with a
colorful summer dress on. She was tan and beautiful.
And as she trotted over to the store I spied her bare feet
and as she walked away from me and her feet kicked up in
my direction, I was charmed by her dirty, oil-stained soles.
I was in my home-town and homesick all at once.
I have never seen a barefoot woman walking around a dirty
gas station in Los Angeles.
God Bless Texas.
The other wonderful thing that happened...
My father and I were attacked by a giant swan. Quite a day!!!
And from here, I am taking a plane to Rome, Italy.
It is the country I have dreamt of visiting for many many years.
I will travel all over. Eat the greatest cuisine.
Wear incredible sunglasses. Soak up wonderful artwork.
Daydream amongst brilliant architechture.
And whistle at beautiful Italian women.
Please share the secrets of Italy, anyone who has been.
I need to know the secret spots and handshakes.
your faithful servant,
austin nichols
southern gothic
My god, Austin sounds so lonely.
ReplyDeleteIs it truth, what he's saying? That he hasn't been to Italy, which means no, he wasn't at the wedding. That he's going to be gone now and when we see pap pics of Jake in LA/NY/Philly whereever it means they aren't traveling together, aren't together. And all this talk about women. Is it truth or just more PR spin to supplement Jake's?
ReplyDeleteIf Austin and Jake are still a couple, they can't afford to spend a week or two travel together all over Italy.
ReplyDelete"Is it truth or just more PR spin to supplement Jake's?"
ReplyDeleteThe Truth is Out There.
"Is it truth, what he's saying?"
ReplyDeleteI think it's true about Austin traveling to Italy because people will at least expect to see some of his photos.
"It is the country I have dreamt of visiting for many many years."
ReplyDeleteSo Austin wasn't in Italy 2 years ago, with his sister's husband?
Is it truth or just more PR spin to supplement Jake's?/
ReplyDeleteWe can't know.
Oh, boy.
ReplyDeleteSamuel Shane "Sam" Worthington (born 2 August 1976) is an award-winning Australian actor who grew up in Rockingham, a town approximately 60km out of Perth, Western Australia. In 2007, James Cameron chose Worthington for a leading role in his science fiction thriller Avatar.
ReplyDelete"James Cameron begins principal photography on AVATAR - his first feature directorial effort since Titanic - in April 2007 for a summer 2009 release.
ReplyDeleteJust as he did with the then little known Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron wanted a new face to portray the lead, Jake Sully. Having searched around the world and screen tested a number of emerging young actors, Cameron has chosen the young Australian Sam Worthington, a rising star who has been recognized by The Australian Film Institute and The Film Critics Circle of Australia, in his homeland from such work as Somersault and Dirty Deeds. Zoe Saldana (The Terminal, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl) will portray the local woman Jake first betrays, then loves. Both actors have signed on for possible future installments as well, as AVATAR is conceived as a potential franchise. Other casting will be announced shortly."

Reese is no threat to Naomi, who likes her boy Jake alot, and is intensely involved in his career. Stage mothers are ruthless.
ReplyDeleteJake's confidence has been charming and disarming but it seems to have turned smirky.
I don't see how he's gonna get out of this intact.
I hate the sight of road kill.
James Cameron, principal photography in April 2007, potential franchise, a huge popcorn film - there is no way Jake would say no to Avatar.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Naomi and her political views and friendships has helped screw up Jake's career -
ReplyDeleteRendition was an "issue" film - Brad Silberman a Vineyard friend - and Fincher had some kind of Jake obsession, said he would not do the film unless he got Jake - who was totally miscast.
As RDJ pointed out in GQ interview, Jake's career took off when he's very young - not enough experience and maturity to make his own decisions.
Have a feeling Reese is Naomi's doing, as well.
The idiot should get himself out of the limelight for awhile, he's doing himself such a disservice.
ReplyDeleteRendition looked like Oscar material on the paper. It's hard to say no to Fincher.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to Brothers and Nailed because I think Jake could be great in that kind of roles (Bubble Boy).
PoP could be a bad move even if it's going to be BO success.
I hope Jake will go back to work real soon - it's been 3,5 years since his first and last really successful movie.
Zachary Quinto plays Spock in Star Trek (2009)
ReplyDeleteDL gossip:
He hasn't done a People cover, or issued a press release but he's certainly more out than Anderson Cooper, who is constantly defended around here.
Quinto shows up at events with his boyfriend repeatedly. They don't dodge and distance themselves with each other.
Just because the press has chosen not to report doesn't mean he's in the closet.
I hope Trekkies love gays :)
ReplyDeleteWe need to find a nice beard for Zachary.
ReplyDeleteBrothers is going to the summer graveyard. Notice when Tobey's baby was born it didn't say star of the upcoming Oscar buzzed about film "Brothers"? Because it's dead in the water. Nailed is never coming out. All Jake has is PoP which looks unintentionally comical.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Tobey should have a word with his PR. Every Reese or Reeke Just Jared post promotes Reese's movies, no matter how bad they are.

ReplyDeleteOne Franchise Fagola Blind Vice
Shocker! There's yet another secret gay actor whose star is rising faster than Chris Brown's temper! Right now, No-Beave Steve has a decent gig making a name for himself playing loveable but hateful characters.
So much so, these semi notorious parts have landed him a sizeable part in a major movie franchise. In seconds, Steve, whose looks are as sultry as his kiss (say his boyfriends), is poised to become the next the, no question.
But isn't it interesting that standing right there, right by Steve's hunky side on all those requisite red-carpets will be...
...not a fake girlfriend. What?! Is this dude on crack? Doesn't he know that's how you get ahead (and stay ahead) in this superficial town of ersatz relationships and even faker People magazine spreads? Yes, he does, actually, and he doesn't give a crap. I so love this guy!
Close buds to No-Beave insist, assure and swear on their equally humpy hearts that NBS has made it an edict that he will not be participating in the only-for-show romance game so many of his movies' handlers have tried to make him participate in. As I said, fab. Just can't wait for the first reporter to call him on what he so obviously plans on not hiding? Will it be Perez? Me? The Star? Harvey Levin?
Or maybe, just maybe, it's gonna be Anderson Cooper...stay tuned.
It Ain't: Ed Westwick, Phillip Rhys, Tristan Wilds
---
I don't take any credit for this because because I had no guesses before I read the comments, but a few of the commenters suggested Zachary Quinto and I think they make a good case:
Zachary played Sasan in "So NoTORIous" with Tori Spelling (semi notorious parts)
Zachary is in Star Trek XI (a MAJOR franchise) coming out in May
Zachary plays Sylar (a villain) on Heroes
No Beave Steve. NBS ~ NBC. (Heroes is on NBC)
And Quinto is kinda sultry looking (if you're into that sort of thing).
Zachary Quinto DL gossip:
ReplyDeleteI think it is well known that he is gay. He doesn't need to declare the obvious.
---
His bf is in the chorus of "Wicked". Zachary is sweet and goofy.
---
He is out thought not officially. But he's seen in gay clubs all the time in NY and LA.
---
He and Adam Lambert are out in the same sense, (Zac's BF knows Adam) but they don't feel the need to shout it from the rooftops. They're gay, they just live their lives as gay men and that's that. Why make a big deal out of it?? All of you who think these guys have an obligation to hold a press conference and tell the world they're gay make no sense to me.
I wonder if Jake will really accompany Reese to Philly like US Reekly wrote? I wouldn't be too surprised if we saw pics.
ReplyDeleteI would be surprised if we don't get pics.
ReplyDeleteBTW, the distance between Philadelphia and NYC is only 100 miles.
^^Well maybe since Michelle is shooting Blue Valentine in Pennsylvania right now, Jake could pay a visit to his godchild when he's in Philly. He probably won't though.
ReplyDeleteMatilda might be with Michelle in Pennsylvania.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she is, she's always with Michelle on set. :)

ReplyDeleteBuyers weigh wider set of factors for film choices
Once upon a time, all that a U.S. sales rep needed to score a big money presale with an international buyer was the attachment of one megastar. Script, budget, director, target audience, additional cast, even genre — that could all be figured out later. Those days are over, yet there are still some names that can get checkbooks open, although for smaller amounts. The independent business has undergone a paradigm shift since the days when having a Hanks, Cruise or Schwarzenegger could automatically greenlight a movie. The sector is being hit by the shrinking international TV and DVD market, the rise of local pics at the B.O., the decline of nontentpole U.S. fare in many foreign theatrical markets and, on top of it all, the global credit crunch that is impacting everything from financing to TV ad sales to minimum guarantees.
"In the current climate, it's less than ever a case of who gets your movie sold and more a case of what gets your movie sold," says Stuart Ford, CEO of IM Global. "In a fiscally conservative buyer environment, what distributors will and won't pay for is generally based on a more complex range of factors that equally include genre, cultural versatility of the script material, budget, evolving local audience tastes, U.S. distribution status and international release availability."
Internet chatter also has challenged the "critic-proof" notions behind star vehicles, especially when a film with a major star receives poor reviews in the U.S. months before it hits overseas theaters.
"Star power is a necessary but not sufficient condition for the success of a movie anymore," says Summit Intl. prexy David Garrett. "A big name alone will not be enough to get people to see the film. One big reason, in my opinion, is the Web has allowed word of mouth to travel incredibly quickly around the world, so now audiences know before the film has come out in their market whether or not it's any good. And that's going to affect the success of any film, regardless of who's starring in it."
But while the era of blind, big-money, megastar-driven deals may be a thing of the past, there's still at least one man who can greenlight a pic based on his attachment alone. "I went on a hike with a buyer the other day and asked (him) which actors he'd be willing to write a check for without knowing anything else about the project, and he only gave me one name: Will Smith," says Brian O'Shea, executive VP of worldwide distribution at Odd Lot Intl.
Garrett agrees. "Smith certainly seems to be in a place of his own right now, not just because of who he is, but because of the choices he makes," he says.
Smith's reputation isn't hard to defend — seven of his past nine pics have grossed more than $200 million internationally, while two, "The Pursuit of Happyness" and "Seven Pounds" — both dramas as opposed to actioners or comedies — clocked in at $144 million and $99 million, respectively. And Smith, like Bruce Willis before him, is known for dutifully promoting his pics overseas, which can help foreign grosses.
While no other thesp currently boasts Smith's status at the B.O., there are a handful of other stars who have the clout to get films made and sold.
"There are still people out there, but the list is a lot smaller, and it really depends on the project," says O'Shea. "I think Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie can still greenlight a movie, along with George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Halle Berry, Johnny Depp and a few others. But it's not the same as it used to be. For a drama, for example, you won't be able to get $30 million out of foreign, but you could get $5 million. You're going to need a package, and that includes the script, director and U.S. distribution for starters."
Jere Hausfater, CEO of Essential Entertainment, agrees it's slim pickings these days. "We are in a challenging environment," he says. "There are very few bankable stars these days. Some examples that come to mind are Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Russell Crowe, as well as Ashton Kutcher in a comedy, and Jason Statham in an action film. On the female side, the obvious names are Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Jodie Foster and a few others. (These actors) will always have the pre-sale juice point. Unfortunately, the list is not growing substantially. The presale box is getting smaller and so are the amounts buyers are willing to pay."
This shift away from star-driven pre-sales coupled with the credit crunch is being felt in every corner of the business, in ways both overt and subtle.
"Overall, it has affected the industry dramatically, because the bank notices that guaranteed presales are taking very long to close," says Lisa Wilson, prexy of international distribution at GK Films. "I've heard of stories about films in the middle of production that have bank notes that still haven't cleared yet."
Wilson also underlines how the rise of local production around the world has impacted the sale of American independent product globally.
"That being said," she adds, "there will always be a place for the tentpole films. Nobody does tentpoles like the U.S."
If high-concept films or those based on popular books or comicbooks have replaced the star system as the engine behind foreign sales, there's no better example than "Twilight," which boasted no A-list stars in its cast and still earned $380 million worldwide, half of that from outside the U.S.
And if the star system is going to make a comeback, it may very well be these types of vehicles that introduce them.
"If I were to bet on the next generation of huge stars, I'd put my money on the cast members coming out of 'Twilight,' especially Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart," says Hausfater. "They played roles that audiences around world really responded to. There was an emotional interaction between the audience and those actors, and that interaction traveled around the world."

Some good news. According to IMDB, Nailed will open in Ukraine in July 2009. If it's true, it seems the movie is finished despite of what Biel said.
ReplyDeleteThat must be some kind of error.
ReplyDelete^^I don't know...
ReplyDeleteHm... Nailed IMDb status is still "Post-production".
ReplyDeleteOh man, it would be easier to find info about current CIA operations than what's the status of this movie. lol

ReplyDeleteThe Ukraine? The UKRAINE? OMFG. ROTFLMAO. Is this gonna be like when Paris Hilton's (or was it Jessica Simpson?) movie opened in one theater in some piddly nowhere town? Holy fuck Nailed must be bad. Maybe TPTB are hoping no one in the Ukraine will be able to understand it or have some sort of odd sense of humor, something. God only knows.
I think that Latvia would have been a better choice. People of Latvia love political comedies!
ReplyDelete2 Brothers Fall In Love. With Each Other. Beautiful? Or Disgusting?
ReplyDeleteFor all the incest jokes Julia Louis-Dreyfus makes on The New Adventures of Old Christine, nothing will prepare you for the new Brazilian film Do Começo Ao Fim (From Beginning To End). Two brothers' tenderness for each other at young age develops into something much deeper as they grow older. Is this a beautiful love story, or a sickening tale? From the above trailer, it looks like the director Aluizio Abranches is leaning toward the former. There's enough "twin brother porn" out there to know intimacy between two brothers doesn't turn everyone off. And yet, if this were a brother and sister, would your reaction be any different?

ReplyDeleteZachary Quinto Gay Kiss
ReplyDeleteJust got to read todays comments.
ReplyDelete"No wonder Maggie is so pissed. Jake used her wedding to once again sell the world on how "straight" he is."
There is no reason for Maggie to be mad. I'm sure she is well aware that Reeke are both fame whores and would without a doubt turn her wedding weekend into a photo shoot for a rag mag. If Maggie supports Jake's showmance then she knew Jake would bring his beard. If she doesn't support the showmance then she should have told Jake to leave his beard home. If she can't stand up to her brother, then she brought it on herself. Also, you knew the neck nuzzling pics and the hand on the Chins hip were done for a rag story layout.
Blackballing : I totally agree. Jake is radioactive right now. He is surrounded by c-list managers who seem to be more interested in getting photoops than good movie roles, he has weird mood swings, he's bearding with a trashy, pathologically vindictive media whore who is herself on the shitlist with many actors and directors, he's incapable of creating any meaningful distance between his personal life and his media appearances, his last two films flopped, and his next two films are limbo. His personal life is as dysfunctional as it could be without drugs, alchohol of booze. If I were a major director now, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.
ReplyDeleteJust because Maggie knew he'd bring the beard so people wouldn't wonder why he didn't doesn't mean she expected him to turn their trip to Italy into tabloid fodder, making her a footnote to her own wedding in the tabloids. Just once couldn't have Jake done the right thing and leave the paps behind and not run to the tabloids with a story.
ReplyDeleteHe's a fucking moron.
People in Hollywood don't care that much about people's personal lives. Please, this is Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteReese is doing quite nicely. People may or maynot like her personally but they know she is a professional. For a woman in Hollywood, she is holding her own.
Jake is the one who seems to be in a lull at the moment. But my attitude is wait and see because life in Hollywood is too cyclical to pronounce anyone's career done.
I am more interested in Austin's post. I don't think he went to this wedding. And I think you Jaustinites had better prepare yourselves.
People I think Austin and Jake are at most, fuckbuddies.
ReplyDeleteAnd Austin does sound kind of lonely, and even a little adrift, in his post. Wonder what that's about? Given his new permanent gig on OTH, I would think he would be more bouyant.
If people don't care about personal lives, why is Jake bearding? And if you become overexposed the way Reeke is, and you look like a wimpy mother's boy, why would anyone want to hire you? Being over-exposed and doing this tabloid thing may work for romcom actors, like Aniston, McBongo and Reese, but it doesn't work for actors who want to work in other kinds of films. The people who seem to have the most work and the more interesting projects seem to be the ones you seldom see in the gossip sites and tabloids, let alone every other day. Brangelina is the exception, and that is because the interest in them is genuine, even if they do control it, and not manufactured.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Austin is ready to move on with his life. Ready for a man that will cherish him, not treat him like a stage prop.
ReplyDeleteI don't buy all the female references in his post. At least that they are sexual references. Out of left field for his usual style.
Yeah, I am kind of thinking if Austin is so into women, he could have had many gfs in the years since he broke up with Claire(?) back in '05.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Reese can introduce someone to Austin... What say you, Jake?
ReplyDeleteWho says Austin has to have any kind of "relationship." Maybe he just likes to fuck around?
ReplyDeleteAustin makes it sound as if he's really happy to be back in Texas. Is he unhappy in LA? I never got that vibe before.
ReplyDeleteHe is a ducking moron. This cheap post-wedding photo nonsense is almost as embarassing as his cheap, twisted stunt dance at Coachella. Given how loony and desperate he is right now, he probably would put an x17 camera on the wedding alter if he could.
ReplyDeleteHe's a pathetic, chronically underemployed, spineless, closeted, mediocre poster child now, seemingly content to slime his way to media approval instead of earning the respect of his peers with brilliant acting. This is a trainwreck in process, make no mistake about it.
Hollywood? DNR this patient.
Maybe he just likes to fuck around? If Austin likes to fuck around with the ladies, there would be some rumors about it, esp. when he was starring in JFC in '07. Instead we got in-the-trailer-with-Jake rumor instead. lol If the dear boy is 100% hetero, he is sure getting a real raw deal with the rumor mill!
ReplyDelete"I don't buy all the female references in his post."
ReplyDeleteAustin can't write blog post about sexy and handsome men :)
"I am more interested in Austin's post. I don't think he went to this wedding. And I think you Jaustinites had better prepare yourselves."
ReplyDeletePrepare for what?

ReplyDeleteSTEVEN SODERBERGH: WE ARE ALL INTO PORN
STEVEN Soderbergh defended prostitution and pornography at a recent panel discussion with Sasha Grey, the porn queen who stars in his new film, "The Girlfriend Experience." The Post's Larry Getlen reports Soderbergh, in discussing society's hypocrisy about porn, noted these fun facts. "First of all, there's the belief that porn is a strictly male-driven business. It's a largely male-driven business. But porn on demand spikes from 9 to 10:30 in the morning. This is true. Now -- who's home?" Also: "Highest Internet porn traffic in the United States? Utah. So can we just kind of agree that we're all into it, and move past it?"
"If you're going to be successful, some say you should copy someone who already is successful. Well it looks like this duo has taken that saying to a whole new level. They are two actors who took different career paths to the top, but who are now copying every move that the other makes.
ReplyDeleteA little friction developed recently, though, over a story that each of them wanted to claim as their own. There's been some quiet sniping and name-calling and gamesmanship behind the scenes, and the tension has mounted between the two. So if you were wondering why you haven't seen them together recently, now you know the reason.
However, we don't understand how this could happen with two guys who are practically twins. Actor 1 got plastic surgery, so Actor 2 got plastic surgery (from the same plastic surgeon). Actor 1 wanted his children educated in a specific way, so Actor 2 did the same with his kids. Actor 2 got his kids involved in the business, and Actor 1 has now decided to do the same with one of his kids. Their houses are similar, as are their cars. Oh, and their wives both serve the same role in their lives." [BlindGossip]
"Holy fuck Nailed must be bad."
ReplyDeleteLOL 6.45! Ah, Jakey hanging on to Reese ain't gonna make things better.
A job is a job!
ReplyDeleteFor a second I thought this was Jake :)

I agree that Austin can't write implying or stating an interest in sexy men. But he doesn't have to write about sexy women or his leering at them. People must be starting to question (the result of a greater visibility due to OTH).
ReplyDeleteVerbal bearding anyone?
Verbal bearding - lol! :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe Austin mentions girls and women because he thinks that's something an average heterosexual would do.
ReplyDeleteStop making excuses. Either he's doing that because he's into women or he's engaging in a form of bearding like 9:03 stated.
ReplyDeleteI think it time for some of you Austin apologists to take those blinders off.
What excuses? We are just trying to figure out what (and why) is Austin writing about.
ReplyDelete9:03 has already explained why. All of this frat boy commentary about women is an attempt to deflect any possible questions about his lack of a visible girlfriend(s) or an opposite sex romantic track record , especially in recent times.
ReplyDeleteFirst, the verbal bearding. Then, the actual bearding. It's coming.
To pick up on a previous post. Does anyone else get a lonely vibe from Austin or an unhappiness with LA? And I don't think he was at that wedding either.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, why is he using the Southern Gothic blog to take about his personal journeys? I thought the purspose of the blog was to pimp this "Lincoln Booth" movie and the production company generally. Do they ever actually talk about the progress on the actual film?
I think Austin is very shy and the insanity of HW does get to him. I am sure he is glad to get away. I also bet he enjoys his time filming in NC with his friends. I doubt Lincoln Booth will ever become a reality. It is something the kids enjoy doing during their down time on the OTH set.
ReplyDelete"Does anyone else get a lonely vibe from Austin or an unhappiness with LA?"
ReplyDeleteNot sure. In one of his previous posts - driving to auditions - he sounded fine.
"Do they ever actually talk about the progress on the actual film?"
ReplyDeleteThey will as soon as there will be something to report. In the meantime, they are entertaining their readers.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard. Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft. Travel.
ReplyDeleteI might agree with Jersey Tom except, these are not "kids" playing around during recess. A production company is serious business. Or at least, it should be.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for "Pedestrian" :)
ReplyDeleteYou better cross your toes too.
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteMaybe Austin's partner / good friend / teacher / fuckbudy will invest some money in the project.
ReplyDeleteIf the project is any good, they should find the funding. All of this time in Hollywood and Austin doesn't have better connections? I find that hard to believe.
ReplyDelete"Maybe Austin's partner / good friend / teacher / fuckbudy will invest some money in the project."
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he will. NOT
The kid isn't stingy.
ReplyDelete"Maybe Austin mentions girls and women because he thinks that's something an average heterosexual would do."
ReplyDeleteJake and Austin have no idea how to pull off heterosexuality. They are hilarious.
I think Jake pulled it off pretty well when he was with Kiki.
ReplyDeleteThe kid isn't stingy."
ReplyDeleteRight, that's why he gave the homeless man a dollar with the cameras around. Very generous indeed.
How much do you give to a homeless man? Empty your wallet? What if there one every few blocks? Most people are generous to their loved one, and stingy with strangers.
ReplyDeleteMost people wouldn't give a penny to a homeless man.
ReplyDeleteHey, it's not my fault that he couldn't break a twenty-dollar bill!
ReplyDeleteJake and Austin have no idea how to pull off heterosexuality. They are hilarious.Heterosexuality is vastly overrated, anyway. Maybe Jaustin will figure it out one day.
ReplyDelete11:58#1and #2 AM Give me a break!
ReplyDeleteIf I had a shiload of money like Jake does I would give the guy at least 5 bucks. Jake probably gave him the dollar because the paps were there.

ReplyDelete"Heterosexuality is vastly overrated, anyway."
ReplyDelete:)
Heterosexuality is not normal, it's just common.
ReplyDeleteWanda Sykes Kills At White House Correspondents' Dinner (VIDEO)
ReplyDeleteWanda Sykes, the comedian featured at tonight's White House Correspondents' Dinner, took shots at Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and former VP candidate Sarah Palin. She speculated that Limbaugh was actually the 20th hijacker on 9/11, derided Hannity for not living up to his pledge to be waterboarded for the troops, and made a fabulous off-color joke about Sarah Palin pulling out at the last minute.
Sykes became the first African-American women to ever perform jokes at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. In 1993, HuffPost's own Elayne Boosler became the first woman to do so, and in 2005 Cedric the Entertainer became the first African-American to do so. They have both been unique in that record up until now.

Did Wanda forget Obama is not for gay marriage? No choice word for another hetero oppressor? What a sell-out.
ReplyDelete"I think Jake pulled it off pretty well when he was with Kiki."
ReplyDeleteI disagree. He looked needy, and nerdy, not sexy. Both dope addled, gimme a break.
Hollywood? DNR this patient.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't entirely fair, since it is Hollywood that has been injecting him with poison for years. :(
"Did Wanda forget Obama is not for gay marriage?"
ReplyDeleteObama is not an enemy.
"Maine Governor Signs Same-Sex Marriage Bill: Mr. Baldacci earlier supported civil unions for gay couples... Mr. Baldacci said his past opposition to same-sex marriage stemmed from his Roman Catholic upbringing. Exploring his feelings on the matter — and listening to those of other Maine residents — was, he said, “very emotional, very much a sort of baring of the soul that you’re listening to and going through yourself.”
The independent film business has been hit very hard by the economic downturn, studios have but back on those divisions, hedge funds don't have the money, etc. Nailed can't even get the money to finish, and yet you think it is strange that the Southern Gothic movie hasn't gotten the money yet? When even Jake and his beard can't get money for Nailed?
ReplyDeleteAnd since when is talking about a woman's feet bearding? And gay men talk about looking at women all the time, look at Dlisted's obsession with chichis, especially Hayek's. Does that mean Michael K. is trying to pass himself off as bisexual?
"And since when is talking about a woman's feet bearding?"
ReplyDeletePosted on OMG by me:
Bare feet is a southern thing, a southern iconic thing. People down here do it all the time, go everywhere, without a second thought, or an eye blink. Going bare foot is a tradition - one which I personally find disgusting - that heralds summer's beginning, declares nonconformity, and whispers of childhood's simplicity. After spending so much time in exile, returning home to Texas, Austin would of course notice such a free and easy expression, one that is the total antithesis of concrete fake LA.
"And gay men talk about looking at women all the time, look at Dlisted's obsession with chichis, especially Hayek's."
ReplyDeleteGood choice, Michael! :)
Good choice, Michael!
ReplyDeleteWanda Sykes, the comedian featured at tonight's White House Correspondents' Dinner/
ReplyDeleteThe White House Correspondents' Dinner was last night in DC and it looked like they put the invite on Facebook, because hos who had no business being there showed up to clink flutes with the President.

Okay, okay, some of these hos belonged, but only like 99.999999%. See for yourself. In order: Flat Stanley (with date Ed Westwick), Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Mariska Hargitay, Trudie Styler, Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Amy Polar Bear, Natasha Bedingfield, Ty Ty Baby, Eva Longwhoria, Ricky Schroeder, Tommy Girl, a middle-aged alien robot wearing one of Barbara Bush's old ones, Kara DioSTFU, James Franco, Chace Crawford (who can't believe he's that close to boobies), Glenn Close, the baddest Monday-To-Friday-er in the room Samuel L. Jackson, Natalie Porkme, a tranny zombie wearing a blonde wig and STAINS' twin brother. See what I mean?

Wanda Sykes to Mr President: "I know you’re into this transparency thing, but I don’t need to see your nipples!"
ReplyDeleteMaybe Austin is down because Informers tanked and the critics were not very good. For us it's just one more so-so/crappy movie. For him this is months of work right down in the toilet and less chances to escape OTH.
ReplyDeleteNo offense to fans of that series but I really think this is not exactly what Austy had in mind when he started playing the HW game.
IA about The Informers, that's a shame.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, Jake is a walking embarassment.
ReplyDeleteAww, don't be like that!
ReplyDeleteIf the Wolverine star is really straight, then he's a super cool guy who plays around with the rumors and has even said there's nothing wrong with being gay and people can think whatever they want.
ReplyDeleteIf he's really gay, then he's a fool, an a-hole, and a traitor who parades around his wife and kid for the cameras, living a lie while milking the gay rumors for sensational interest.
So which is he--a brave hero or a monstrous wuss?

ReplyDeleteThe first footage from the Mike Newell-directed big screen adaptation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has aired on an ABC movie special, and is now online. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer explains the plot of the film adaptation, as we see actual footage from the film. We also get to see some of Jake Gyllenhaal’s training and a look at the extensive on location Morocco shoot. I was on London-set of the film and while I can’t say much (or anything really), I will say that I was quite impressed with what I saw. Watch the clip after the jump, remember to hit the HQ button to see it in high quality, and please leave your thoughts in the comments below.
Based on the popular action adventure video game, Prince of Persia tells the story of an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) must join forces with Tamina (Gemma Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire helmer Mike Newell is directing, and Alfed Molina and Ben Kingsley co-star.

ReplyDeletePrince of Persia Film, New Footage
Prince of Persia wears hair beads? OK. :)
ReplyDeleteNot many comments at YT. Some negative comments at Slash. We're far away from the WOW! replies the first DK pics got. And before you're accusing me of comparing Heath to Jake I'm just referring to the fact that these are two already-existing fictional characters (one in cartoons, the other in vgames).
ReplyDeleteJake looks yummy in the movie and if the reviews are ok, it could bring a big audience, mostly women probably.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch popcorn movies, don't play video games, can't be objective about Jake's acting - I can't say if this bit of footage is bad, good or great.
ReplyDelete4:46 PM
ReplyDeleteCute actors don't automatically turn movies into chick flicks.
I kind of expected more interesting movies from Jake after BBM. The only movie that would interest me is Nailed, I hope it's better than many seem to think.
ReplyDelete"We're far away from the WOW! replies the first DK pics got."
ReplyDeleteTrue, the first Joker picture had the fanboys creaming their pants. BIG difference. Everyone was anxious for DK to come out, but let’s not get into the Heath vs. Jake thing again.
Is Bruckheimer the producer Jake allegedly had sex with to get the part in POP?
ReplyDeleteYou should ask Ted :)
ReplyDeletePoP is a product for the masses and I'm sure Disney will sell it well.
ReplyDelete"PoP is a product for the masses and I'm sure Disney will sell it well."
ReplyDeleteOf course they will.
The BO isn't the most important thing, both Brendan Fraser and Orlando Bloom had BO hits and look at their careers.
ReplyDeleteNot to start a fight (please don't!), it's just an honest question. Does anyone else think that it was Disney that didn't want Jake to comment on Heath's death? You know, because of the controversy of his death (was he a drug addict, did he commit suicide...), therefore not to be too much associated with him. Maybe it was expected from Jake to stay quiet. IDK how movie business works, but could this be the case?
ReplyDelete^^Disney is family oriented after all.
ReplyDelete5:07 PM
ReplyDeleteTrue. BO is the most important and thing for Disney.
"Does anyone else think that it was Disney that didn't want Jake to comment on Heath's death?"
ReplyDeleteNo, there was no reason for that.
"BO is the most important and thing for Disney."
ReplyDeleteITA. All Disney cares about is its own ass, I fear Jake will end up regretting this.
I second 5:17 PM.
ReplyDelete" I fear Jake will end up regretting this."
ReplyDeleteWell, he never should have done this film in the first place.
I know he always wanted a franchise, but he should have waited for a better one.
Jake wasn't / isn't in position to wait for better offers.
ReplyDeleteJake is young and talented enough. He could have continued to do small, interesting movies. Who knows how Brothers and Nailed will turn out? Johnny Depp had his first franchise with 40!
ReplyDeleteJake just wanted big success ASAP. He wasn't patient. I hope he won't regret it.
He wasn't patient, I agree which is typical of young HW these days.
ReplyDeleteAlso he craves the attention and loves to watch himself (listen to the DD commentary - the producer or director, not sure which, mentions that Jake loved to watch his takes during the shooting).
This footage is too generic, same fights and scenery were seen many times before. Parkour and CGI should be much more interesting.
ReplyDeleteIs it me or Jake looks gayer than ever in PoP? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about? Prince has a lot of muscles, he fights 10 people at the same time, he seduces pretty girl - he couldn't be more macho! ;)

Is it me or Jake looks gayer than ever in PoP? :)That's a good thing or a bad thing?
ReplyDeleteOk the comments at Slash and ONTD are definitely negative. I know ONTD seems to switch between love-and-laugh regarding Jake but I'm not familiar with Slash. Is this a fanboy site?
ReplyDeleteSome ONTD comments are too funny, like this:
ReplyDelete"OH JAKE...
This + Reese Witherspoon = FAIL.
But hey, at least you're not in the Donnie Darko sequel."
LOL.
Obama is not an enemy. He's just a wishy-washy politician who won't touch the gay marriage issue unless he gets some political benefit from it. Not at all the leader that the left tried to sell him as.
ReplyDeleteIs Musto trying to out Hugh?
ReplyDeleteDamn, Chace with all that facial hair is prettier than all the girls.
ReplyDeleteMusto should go after the real monstrous wuss.
6:58: He doesn't look gayer than ever to me nor to the people that are commenting on ond, slash aand elsewhere. They say he is white and shouldn't be playing him, etc, no he looks gay comments.
ReplyDeleteIt must be you.
Re: AfterElton.com Hot 100
ReplyDeleteIf Jake wins this year again. That poll must be rigged.
"6:58: He doesn't look gayer than ever to me nor to the people that are commenting on ond, slash aand elsewhere. They say he is white and shouldn't be playing him, etc, no he looks gay comments.
ReplyDeleteIt must be you."
No it's not just him/her, it's a fact.
I think you are bothered by the fact that no one is saying he looks gay on ontd, slash and some other sites. He looks silly, and cheesey IMO. The negative remarks are either he's white, looks cheesey/goofy. They may later on but, yeah it bothers you. I think it brings home the fact that the "brokies' are a tiny part of the fandom and really had no intention of seeing this film anyway.
ReplyDeleteJake and Disney could give 2 shits about you.
"Jake wasn't / isn't in position to wait for better offers."
ReplyDeleteITA.
"Is it me or does Jake looks gayer than ever in PoP? :)"
You aren't alone.
"He's just a wishy-washy politician who won't touch the gay marriage issue unless he gets some political benefit from it. Not at all the leader that the left tried to sell him as."
Hear, hear.
Jake and Disney could give 2 shits about you."
ReplyDeleteIf they expect people to plunk down their hard earned cash to see Prince of Persia, then they should DEFINITELY care what people say--EVERYONE of them. The film will not be a success unless a large group of people (not just mindless Jake is god and straight fans) see the film.
Im recalling that Ted said, privately, that T&L (TAKEit or LEAVEit) lunch Jake said he was doing PoP for the money because he was "broke" and that Nailed was shit -
ReplyDeleteDo you really believe that Jake told that to some "fans". I think they are confused with the fanfic they write.
ReplyDeleteHe got min. for Nailed, if he was "broke" he would have taken a movie for more $$$ I would think.
More greedy than broke.
The Jake is gay fandom is a tiny minority of the movie-going public. Sorry, but Disny does not need us to make this movie a success and will not be depending on our dollars.. Fanboys helped get the buzz out on TDK, but they are not responsible for its financial success.
ReplyDeleteOur dollars help of course, but they aren't critical.
"broke" probably means his net worth is less than a million? Celebs are not the same as us working stiffs.
ReplyDeleteI also sense an undercurrent of sadness in Austin's post as well. I also think his clumsy observations regarding woman also smack of someone trying to make a "subtle" reference to his heterosexulity. Do we really need to know that he's going to whistling at women?
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised that we're seeing a flurry of Pop stills and outtakes. Since he got back from England last Dec., his life has been a series of pr fuckups, usurping the news of Maggoe's wedding being the recent example. Given all these screwups and the unending bad news about Brothers and Nailed, I'm not surprised that they are playing the Pop card again. It's just about the only bow he has left in his quiver.
ReplyDeleteAustin whistles at women. jake stares at boobs as if in astonishment -
ReplyDeletewhat a pair!
Jake's pr does not control Disney. POP is a year away and Disney has a long term strategy for it, and it is not based on day to day issues in Jake's life.
ReplyDeleteWhat in the hell would Disney care about "Nailed" or "Brothers" or his sister's wedding? And what makes you think your concept of a pr "fuckup" coincides with that of the powers that be? I am sure that Jake's pr is very in tune with what Disney wants/needs.
Austin whistles at women. jake stares at boobs as if in astonishment -
ReplyDeleteI don't care if the like women, as long as they do it together. lol
Disney doesn't care about Nailed, Brothers or Maggoe's wedding? Exactly what planet are you living on? Disney us not in the habit if handing over multy million dollar franchises to an actor whose last two films flopped and whose next two films are in deep financial trouble. Nor are they in the habit of given multi million dollar franchises to actors with massive gay rumor problems. Jake has both. Disney is doing him a HUGE favor, but in exchange Jake had to sign away his life. Within the industry, the financial problems associated to Brothers and Nailed to TOTAL embarassments and Jake is the star of both films. Disney is going to do whatever if can to distract attention away from these ongoing embarassments with staged photo shots of a faux-straight movie with his creepily vindictive blobs beard, who us also, by the way, thoroughly in bed with Disney. And it that required milking Maggies wedding for straight friendly photo ops, Disney will INSIST that Jake do it. And I am almost positive that Disney has some say over the roles he takes before Pop comes out, and has insisted that Jake keep his mouth shut about practically everything.
ReplyDeleteSo in answer to your question, I'm sure that Disney cares about everything Jake does and he knows it, and if they thought that they could not control his movements, statements and het-imagery, they would not have signed such a problematic, emotionally unreliable and professionally checkered actor to the title role.
Jake's head is up Disney's ass, and when they squeeze the corporate sphincter, Jake squeals and says 'may I have another sir?'
Deal with it.
Disney originally wanted Orlando Bloom for Prince Dastan but Orlando said no because he felt he had already been in enough franchise films. Their second choice was Jake.
ReplyDelete12:04, You're propagating a myth about Disney being this all controlling monster behemoth that's not quite true. Yes, they do like protecting their interests particularly when it comes to big budget and/or high profile projects. But Big Brother (from 1984) they are not. They've invested a lot of $$ in Prince of Persia and they want to see a return on their investment. This doesn't mean they want to controll Jake's every move and manner (Jake is doing that himself because he's scared) ala the old studio system but they do want him (and other stars in their franchise films) to behave with discretion. Jake is just pushing everything to the nth degree because he's probably scared (his career has, well, stalled). I don't get any sense (unlike the late Heath, Anne Hathaway and Michelle--his former BBM castmates) that he has any genuine love for the craft of acting or filmmaking at all--he seems to be in it for the money. And sadly, you need much more to sustain a career in film.
Now I don't like Reese one bit--I do think she's cold and calculating (thank you Washington Post) but I think what she does (romcom) she does very well. I do think she has a certain enjoyment of acting but I think she's fallen into a trap of sticking to what works for her and that's it. She needs to go beyond the bounds and do something different. Take on a dramatic role or a different type of character.
I honestly don't know what on earth happened to Jake's career? He chose "Rendition" instead of "Avatar?" He probably got a lot of other great offers but he turned them down for "Rendition?"
"...problematic, emotionally unreliable and professionally checkered actor..."
ReplyDeleteMy, my. Melodramatic much 12:04?
Jake is not responsible for the problems with Nailed or Brothers as the adults at Disney are well aware. They are not wallowing in bitterness like so many of Jake's disapointed fans and are not going to blame Jake for those things over which he has no control. Besides neither of those is a Disney film. And no one in the general movie-going audience (which is Disney's concern) knows or cares about what is going on with "Nailed" or "Brothers."
And I am sure Disney is aware of the gay rumors, yet they took a chance on Jake. They roll with it with Zac Efron; they can handle it with Jake.
You see, I don't discount Disney's influence in Jake's life currently. I just don't think they are micromanaging his life. I think what truly bothers you is the possiblity that POP could do well, which would justify Jake's behavior, proving he made the right decision.
Let go of the bitterness; you'll feel so much better.
I think what truly bothers you is the possiblity that POP could do well, which would justify Jake's behavior, proving he made the right decision."
ReplyDeleteWhat behavior is that? Self-loathing, homophobic, closeted dimwit?
AfterElton 100: Jake is #4.
ReplyDelete"He chose "Rendition" instead of "Avatar?"
ReplyDeleteWhatever you say about Jake, you can't doubt the wisdom of his choices!
^^LOL. He said he chose Rendition because he knew Witherspoon was on board. I'm not lying, he said it in an interview. Jake's an idiot.
ReplyDelete"She didn't go seeking him out."
ReplyDeleteYes, she did. Well, she didn't need to because Reese knew Jake for years. So, what you're saying is she went to Jake and said, 'hey Jake I hear you need me to beard for you? Me out of anyone in the world'.
Uh, okay. Do you think a. what you've read in People or whatever you quoted at that link is a total fabrication and b. it's more likely Jake's people thought,"fucking A, here's a great sell, we'll go to Reese and see what she thinks!"Come on, use your head.
Re: AfterElton.com Hot 100
ReplyDeleteIf Jake wins this year again. That poll must be rigged.
It's a good job that poll was closed. He can fuck off if he thought I was voting for him. I'd rather vote Fred Phelps in.
Well, not really, but, you know....
Is Bruckheimer the producer Jake allegedly had sex with to get the part in POP?Okay if Jakes' hitting the sack with him I need pics. Is he hot?
ReplyDeleteNO!
ReplyDeleteUh, okay. It had to be hush money stuff, then.
ReplyDeleteSelf-loathing, homophobic, closeted dimwit?
ReplyDeleteLOL
Disney hired Jake & Reese because they had huge losses last year and they don't pay their actor all that well either and these two are probably the cheapest they got! Reese is supposed to be paid 3rd highest but what work has she being doing lately? No point talking about Jake!
