  1. 'Dark Knight,' 'Sex in the City' among summer film winners

Or, shall we say, the summer of "The Dark Knight" is over. Which gives you a pretty good indication of where we stand on the idea of summer's winners and losers. What makes a movie a winner or a loser depends upon who is making the list. For some, it's how much money a film makes (or loses). For others, it's quality.

What was so impressive about "The Dark Knight" is that it succeeded wildly in both categories. Yes, it made truckloads of money -- nearly $520 million and counting, good enough for No. 2 on the all-time list of moneymakers.

But it wasn't just mindless fluff that amused the masses. Thanks in large part to the late Heath Ledger's over-the-top brilliant performance as the Joker -- he deserves every bit of Oscar hype he's getting and then some -- and to director Christopher Nolan's dark tone, it's also one of the best movies of the year as well. In other words, a winner.

On the other end of things we have "The Love Guru." Ugh. Mike Myers' film about a guru who tries to help a hockey player straighten out his life was just awful, easily the worst movie of the year. A ridiculous story with terrible acting and non-stop mugging from Myers, it was a disaster. Plus, it reportedly has lost nearly $30 million. In other words, a loser. Big time.

If "The Dark Knight" and "The Love Guru" were the extreme ends of the spectrum, there were a lot of movies that fell in-between those posts. Any ranking of things is nothing but a fight-starter, but that's why we do it. To wit: Winners

"Iron Man": Specifically, Robert Downey Jr. "The Dark Knight" put this film in its rear-view mirror early on, but when it came out critics raved about Downey's performance as Tony Stark, the playboy billionaire who has a change of heart (almost literally), dons a metal suit (not really iron, but whatever) and fights crime (including, but not limited to, terrorists).

"WALL-E": The first 30 or 45 minutes, which contain almost no human dialogue, just beeps and whistles and such from the last working robot left on a polluted earth, are magic. What a robot WALL-E is, a heap of bolts with more personality than the characters in about half the live-action films out there. Another brilliant score for Pixar.

"Kung Fu Panda": Jack Black's best role since "The School of Rock" may have been in an animated film, but at least it was a really good one. His unlikely martial-arts hero, a big fat panda better at eating than fighting, was easy to root for. When's the last time you could say that about one of his characters?

"Sex and the City": Alas. Though we were not fans, it made a mint and proved that if you give them a movie they like, women will come back for seconds. It's worth landing in the winner side of the ledger for that alone.

"Mamma Mia!": Meryl Streep sings ABBA. Also, there's dancing. Not much more to it than that, and critical reception was spotty, but audiences loved it.

Now, for the other side of the coin. Losers

"The X-Files: I Want to Believe": I know I did. And yet the film, reuniting Mulder and Scully after all these years, was a disappointment on just about every front for all but the most fanatic loyalists. The case they investigated was somewhat creepy, but not bizarre enough. And it tanked at the box office, taking in a paltry $21 million (it reportedly cost $30 million to make).

"Speed Racer": The Wachowski brothers' first stint in the directors' chairs since the last of "The Matrix" trilogy was a visual treat, truly stunning to look at -- and almost nothing else. It was also a financial disaster, reportedly losing more than $76 million. That's a lot of money, even in Hollywood.

"Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Crystal Skull": OK, it wasn't terrible. And it was kind of nice to see a then-65-year-old Harrison Ford running around shooting things and whatnot. But, ultimately, 19 years after the last one, one question remained: Why?

"Meet Dave": Oh, Eddie Murphy, what were you thinking? What are you ever thinking these days, except for the days when you sign on for another "Shrek" movie? On the plus side: It wasn't "Norbit."

"Death Race": What should have, or maybe could have, been exciting dumb fun along the lines of "Wanted" left out the exciting and the fun part of that equation. Serious demerits for wasting Ian McShane. Jury still out

We're still hashing out our feelings for "Tropic Thunder" and "Pineapple Express." Sure, Tom Cruise is great in a small role in the former and both movies were laugh-out-loud funny -- part of the time. There's just that nagging feeling that they could have been better.

  7. Tom Ford Hooks Up With Firth, Moore and Bell

Fashion prince Tom Ford is finally going to see his dream come true. The former Gucci designer is putting the final touches on his directorial debut of the movie adaptation of Christopher Isherwood's 1964 novel, A Single Man.

Sources reveal exclusively to me that Colin Firth will star as a gay college professor who deals with the sudden death of his lover. The character is helped in his efforts by a lifelong female friend and one of his students.

Julianne Moore will play the friend while Jamie Bell has signed for the student role, my source says. The story takes place in 1962 in Los Angeles. No studio is attached to the project, but Ford plans to begin filming in L.A. in November.

Ford announced in November that he acquired the movie rights to the novel. The look will be pure Ford. My source says, "It should be very cool with all those '60s cars and great midcentury homes."

After leaving Gucci in 2004, Ford spoke publicly about wanting to get into directing. He also started his namesake men's fashion line last year.

  9. Oh happyness, Reeke pictures are coming.
Sorry, I know it's a Jake fan blog. But Jake and Reese are not likeable together. She has always been pretentious, but ever since they are together (romance or fauxmance) Jake gives me the same vibes.
What happened to good old Jake?

    ReplyDelete
  10. He was always a pretentious snob (except with his sister and Austin--both of whom wouldn't stand for it) but you guys didn't want to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm a toothy tile fan. I loved Toothy Tile Jake. I'm not a fan of this new Jake at all. If this is who he really is then there's nothing interesting or admirable about him other than his role in BBM. The rest of his acting has been OK but it's not enough to keep me as a fan.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Maybe it's more visible now that he's with(?) her?
(Now I'm prepared to be yelled at).

Ted and Lisa: "we can say the old Jake that many people feel is now gone, is still alive and kicking, as we hope many of you picked up from our story".

    ReplyDelete
  16. Part of Reeke is Jake and lately I'm not liking his behaviour. Some posters seem sensitive and think critisism is same as Jake bashing. If you read some of the older posts, you'd know what I mean.

I didn't like them together from the very beginning. But the dislike intensified since early this year. For reasons I feel were discussed here ad nauseum.

  22. Since Reese made sure the paps got her pic at LAX and she's all smiley, you know she's going to London. I guess the hope that Jake would start to break-up Reeke will have to be buried. You know the miniute she gets to London, we'll be flooded with 2 to 3 Reeke photo ops every day. My love for Jake is starting to slowly die thanks to Reeke.

Reeke could be gone next week or next year, but I don't see the need for "start breaking up" phase.

  24. Dear Ted:
Kindly please replace your word of retard to peabrain or D.D. (Delbert Dumbutt) or something that is decidedly less targeted to a group of people who already got the shaft in life; the mentally retarded. I love you, baby! I'm just defensive about the term since my son is high-functioning autistic. Now get a move on with some serious gossip. BTW, is Hillary Clinton Toothy Tile? Thought I'd have some fun today!
    —Mckinn

    Dear PC:
Noted, but don't go too Tropic Thunder on my ass and take it with a little bit of humor (I get your point, though), just as I am with your BV guess. It's good for the chuckles, but Hil ain't your man.

    Dear Ted:
Does Toothy Tile know he's Toothy Tile in your Blind Vices? I've always heard that people in celebrity camps scroll blog sites (just to make sure they're getting talked about, of course). Just wondering if his people have figured out you're talking about him.
    —Brg4Eyes

    Dear Eavesdrop:
Toothy knows, alright. That's why he loves to do his out-me mamba all across T-town.

Yeah i know GB, but someone there is friends with one of Jake's co-stars, Reece Ritchie's agent.

    —AJ in Columbus

    Dear Jigsaw Jumbler:
It sounds good on paper. But in reality, C.F. is as hetero and horny as they come.

    Dear Ted:
Are the And It Ain't choices (1) always (2) sometimes or (3) never themselves the subjects of other Blind Vices?
    —Barb

    Dear Multiple Fess:
There is a golden ding showering you behind Door No. 2, darling!

    Dear Ted:
As much as I wish Toothy Tile was in actuality Sarah Palin's husband, I have convinced myself it is Hugh Jackman. Yay or Nay?
    —Katy

    Dear Wishful Thinking:

Spielberg, Capshaw Donate $100,000 To Fight Gay Nup Ban

The Mormons have been dominating the Proposition 8 fund raising, but Hollywood's elite are doing their damndest to counter right wing attacks.

Director Steven Spielberg and his actress wife, Kate Capshaw, join Brad Pitt and other A-listers in donating to the fight against Proposition 8, a measure seeking to reverse this year's gay marriage win. Upon making their $100,000 donation public, Spielberg and Capshaw had this to say:

By writing discrimination into our state constitution, Proposition 8 seeks to eliminate the right of each and every citizen in our state to marry regardless of sexual orientation. Such discrimination has NO place in California's constitution, or any other.

You can tell they're serious by the fact that they capitalized "no."

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jake changed the day he started "lying" about his relationship with Reese, even though it was fake from the start. He sold his soul to PR. It went down hill from there. I always say that the people behind Enron did not start out to cheat and lie. They started with one difficult to make deception, the 2nd was easier and by the 50th it was standard practice. Oversimplified, but you get my point.

Jake looks so happy in these bookstore pics. Would love to see him look like that again. His demeanor around Austin is a wonder.

Are you kidding? How do you figure that?

    ReplyDelete
  37. "I hope so. The world doesn't need more Reeke pics."

Don't worry, there will be Reeke pics somewhere. If Gen. Witherspoon flew across the world just to attend some party for one of Jake's cast mates, then she is either on retainer from Disney or bored out of her gourd. And if Jake is so obsessed with his hetero-friendly image that he could only manage to convince his beard to attend a party with him, even though she was half way around the world, then he is either incredibly lonely, radioactive socially, slowly going nuts or bored out of his gourd.

This bearding charade is pathological and rancid.

    ReplyDelete
  38. So wonderful to see HW rallying to stop the horrible Proposition 8. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Well Reeke has a right to smirk their way through life, none of my business.

    ReplyDelete
  40. On the other hand, Jake could afford to be himself with Ted and Lisa.

Celebs are always careful, also with fans. He certainly expected some questions and had time to prepare for them. I don't say everything he said was a lie, I think for some questions he did prepare though.

  41. "Don't worry, there will be Reeke pics somewhere. If Gen. Witherspoon flew across the world just to attend some party for one of Jake's cast mates, then she is either on retainer from Disney or bored out of her gourd."

    ReplyDelete
  42. If Gen. Witherspoon flew across the world just to attend some party for one of Jake's cast mates...

She's just covering their asses. Reeke pretended to be a couple in Morocco, why wouldn't they continue the charade in London?

Reese probably had a chance to meet some bigwig and will get another "actor / producer talks about Reeke" story.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Are you kidding? How do you figure that?

    a) they didn't record the conversation, everything was off the record.

    b) only die hard fans cared about his lovely chat with Ted and Lisa.

"I will admit that this fake marriage lasted longer than I thought it would, but all good things must come to an end. Seems as if our B list television actress on a hit network drama just can't keep pretending to keep a man. The lesbian that refuses to come out of the closet is trying to convince the world that she is straight. Our actress has been in this space before when her last beard left her. This time she tried to convince us all by getting married, but no one is really buying it, least of all her fake husband who wants a raise." [CDaN]

    ReplyDelete
  50. So Jake pretended to be the Old Jake because he wants all his fans to like him?

Pretended to be old Jake? This sounds so ridiculous. He knew that his fans weren't too fond of Reeke and others were wondering aloud why he kept silent because of H. We saw him out and about with Reese, seeming happy during that difficult time. He had to do a bit of damage control. I don't doubt many things he said were genuine, but for some questions that he expected to be asked, I really believe he thought them through, to say the "right things", before meeting these two guys.

    ReplyDelete
  51. He knew that his fans weren't too fond of Reeke and others were wondering aloud why he kept silent because of H.

    Exactly.

He had a chance to lie about Reese, Reeke and Heath, to "kill three flies with one stone" - but he didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  52. T&L said J told them he they could ask him anything; they didnt ask him about Reese. They did ask if he'd been to H's memorial in L.A. and he said "of course"

If you read this "lovely chat" without rose colored glasses, it is quite curious - and Jake was in control all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  53. The analogy to Enron is great 10:52. I guess we'll have to wait and see whether Jake recovers or has a complete meltdown and marries the midget.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Reese's name din't come up because they didn' ask because they both hate her (well Lisa does anyway).

    Bullshit.

Jake could mention Reese if he wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 1:33 why should Jake have brought up Reese when he knows that most of his fans don't like her and aren't really interested in her?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Why should Jake bring up Reese or any other aspects of his personal life with strangers?

And why 1:33 are you making these inane comments?

    ReplyDelete
  57. We presume that Jake has no problem lying. We presume that Jake had good PR in mind.

Wouldn't it make sense to sell Reeke and straight image if he Jake was after good PR?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Why should Jake bring up Reese or any other aspects of his personal life with strangers?

Please read what I said - not discuss, just mention. Celebrities do mention their SO all the time during interviews with total strangers, done for total strangers.

    ReplyDelete
  59. When Ted and Lisa didn't bring Reese up, why would he?
Reeke don't need T and L to promote them as you all can see. They have In Touch, US Weekly, various internet blogs etc.

    ReplyDelete
  60. When Ted and Lisa didn't bring Reese up, why would he?

My point is that Jake isn't shameless and that damage control wasn't his #1 priority.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I don't think it was his no 1 priority either, but it was a good opportunity to do a little damage control and he used it.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Jake would never talk about his perlife with strangers, escpecially strangers from the BBM online fandom that write slash and doesn't like Reese or that fact that he was silent about Heath's death.

He and his PR knew that they were coming and knew how to handle them.

The GF talk was just something he felt he needed to add, surprised T&L added that.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I bet it was a girl friend.

  65. While I admit Jake is a handsome and charming guy, he knows what he wants in life, a good career in Hollywood. I believe that's one of his main priorities, that's what Reese wants to. So even if they really f*ck, they use their relationship for good promotion. To me it's either way a fauxmance, even if they f*ck.

Sean Smith: Yeah, not some tight-ass Middlesex chick, right? Like this cute little blonde that will get down and dirty with the guys. Like Smurfette does.
    Donnie: Smurfette doesn't fuck.
Sean Smith: That's bullshit. Smurfette fucks all the other Smurfs. Why do you think Papa Smurf made her? Because all the other Smurfs were getting too horny.
Ronald Fisher: No, no, no, not Vanity. I heard he was a homosexual.
Sean Smith: Okay, then, you know what? She fucks them and Vanity watches. Okay?
Ronald Fisher: What about Papa Smurf? I mean, he must get in on all the action.
Sean Smith: Yeah, what he does, he films the gang-bang, and he beats off to the tape.
Donnie: [shouts] First of all, Papa Smurf didn't create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel's evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village. But the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario, it just couldn't happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don't even have... reproductive organs under those little, white pants. It's just so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. You know, what's the point of living... if you don't have a dick?
Ronald Fisher: [pause] Dammit, Donnie. Why you gotta get all smart on us?

    2. ignore them
    3. get rid of them.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Why should he get rid of them? Fans are important. They go watch your movies. But he needs to enhance his fandom, that's why he's doing PoP. After PoP his fandom will probably be bigger and he'd be much better known and have much more money. Many good things to come.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Why should he get rid of them?

I don't think that the online gay rumors bother him. They make him even more interesting. It's the "real/outside" world that has to know he has a gf, that he' straight.

    ReplyDelete
  92. There are many women that fancy him and envy Reese, who believe the tabloid stories about them. Believe it or not.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Why wouldn't they believe tabloid fiction? They aren't fans, don't know anything about them and have no idea how Hollywood works.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I think this whole "Reese is a bitch" thing is actually "I envy Reese so much I can hardly think straight" thing.

It's certainly true with many of Jake's straight, female fans. If you read ONTD or stuff, you'll read that "he became boring to me after he hooked up with Reese". If/when Reeke ends, he'll be loved much more again. I'm sure of it.

  98. "he became boring"

Isn't that true? Jake disappeared, Jake is reduced to Reese's appendix.

    ReplyDelete
  99. And there are many people who don't believe the tabloids. I was out with a group of 5 women I had never met before and the conversation turned to movies. Reese's name came up at one point so I innocently asked if she had ever divorced the husband who had cheated on her. Four of the women weren't sure and one of them knew all about it. She said that Reese was divorced and that she was supposedly dating the actor from BBM. She didn't think the romance was real. She thought it was either a set-up romance to keep Reese from looking like a victim or that it was just a rebound romance to help her get over Ryan. Either way she didn't think it would last and she didn't think it was a good match.

  100. Correction, Jake very much gives a shit about Reese, he needs her more than she needs him at this point. Some of you are just as bad as the fangirls, Jake walked into this with eyes wide open.

In the beggining it was 50/50 now it's more like 60 for Jake and 40 for Reese. And all the Reese is a bitch and he hates her is ludicrous on it's face. He must be beyond grateful that he has someone at her level to do this with as oppose to some D-list bimbo like Clooney.

From what I've seen he'll more likely end up as a big joke. I get the impression that not having a man reads as a true failure to her. She is not going to allow herself to be perceived as undesirable. She won't move until another man shows interest in her.

Clay Fires Back at Gay Reports

"American Idol" star Clay Aiken has spoken out about reports he's gay, saying people now refuse to believe he is heterosexual.

The singer has maintained his silence during recent tabloid attacks on his sexuality, but, as he launches his new album, he wants to set the record straight in People magazine.

Despite claims from a former soldier that he romanced Aiken after they met online, and a potential class action lawsuit filed against him by former fans upset about his alleged homosexuality, the singer says he isn't gay.

He tells People magazine, "What do you say? It's like when I was eight, I remember something would get broken in the house, and Mom and Dad would call me in and say, 'Did you do this?'

"It didn't matter what I said. The only thing they would believe was, 'Yes.' People are going to believe what they want."

Clay Aiken Calls Diane Sawyer's Gay Question 'Rude'

An angry Clay Aiken clashed Thursday with Diane Sawyer for asking him whether he is gay. "I don't understand why you want to know," Aiken shot back. "I don't understand why it's any of your business. "At some point, [the question] becomes just really rude, you know?" he said in an interview that aired Thursday on "Good Morning America."

The "American Idol" runner-up has been the subject of gossip about his sexuality ever since he became an overnight star in 2003. And this year, the question became especially sordid after a former Green Beret claimed that he hooked up with Aiken through a gay Internet site.

Sawyer went right after Aiken, asking at the top of the interview if he was "ready to come out and say you're gay." "That would not make sense for me do to that," Aiken said.

"You think I'm rude for asking?" Sawyer asked Aiken. "I've gotten to a point where I feel it's invasive. Forget it. What I do in my private life is nobody's business anymore, period. "I don't think you're rude because I figure people have a job to do," Aiken said. "I just don't understand why people care, to be honest with you. I'm not spending my time with this anymore. "This is a waste of my time."

Sawyer's questions were not popular with fans and gay groups. "Media speculation about people's sexual orientation is not something we support," said Damon Romine, an official of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. "Coming out is a very personal, private decision that needs to be made by the individual." "GMA" viewers also weighed in.

"A person has a right to his or her privacy," one viewer wrote on the "GMA" message board. "Clay is trying to preserve this. I agree with him. What difference does it make?" "Mr. Aiken seems tired and beaten down by this issue," wrote another viewer.

"People with no lives buy into the media speculation on his sex life ... Now, Mr. Aiken sees this is a no-win."

Wrote another viewer: "If Clay Aiken wants to be a role model and/or a hero he needs to put all this to rest by coming out or proving his heterosexuality -- not dancing around the subject like he is trying to hide something."

NPH looks freakin' great lately too. It's like it's a huge relief to finally be themselves and not have to go through all that effort to hide anymore, and the relief is almost palpable. I'm glad his fans are being very supportive. But the ones who filed a class action suit against him? Jeez. Fans Want To Sue Clay Aiken For Being 'Virginal, Asexual Character'

Nine fans of Americal Idol star Clay Aiken are considering launching a class action lawsuit against the singer and his record company bosses following tabloid allegations he's gay. The unnamed fans were shocked by recent unconfirmed claims from a retired soldier that he enjoyed a gay romp with the singer in a hotel room.(see: "Former Lover Wants Clay Aiken To Admit He's Gay")

In the absence of a firm denial from Aiken, the upset devotees are deliberating filing a class-action lawsuit and a possible Fair Trade Commission complaint against the recording and promotional entities behind Aiken - after finding a lawyer who will take their case. The fans are taking great care to protect their identities because they're already received serious threats from other Aiken fans.

One of the distressed fans, who is leading the class action charge, says, "Because of the threats that have risen out of this, we are being very careful with what information we reveal, as we settle everything and first make arrangements for the safety of ourselves and our families."

She adds, "The individuals behind the lawsuit are nine former fans. We are all different ages and backgrounds. We are accusing (record labels) RCA and Sony BMG of having a vested interest in the marketing and promotion of Clay Aiken as a virginal, asexual character. The recent media about Clay has shown this to, apparently, be a lie, and that image (was) only designed to enrich the record company at the expense of consumers. We think that is false advertising. So, through our complaints, we would hope to force the record companies to admit their culpability in this manner and give refunds to anyone who bought into the Clay Aiken myth... As former fans, we just feel ripped off and hurt. We believe that this was absolutely fraudulent and that we may have actionable recourse against the record company."

I don't know if anyone noticed, but I dropped two Jake G. clues in there - two of his film titles, Lovely & Amazing and The Good Girl. Dear Ted:
I think you are lovely and amazing. But why must you tease us so with the ongoing saga of Toothy Tile? Must we guess every actor in Hollywood until you have eliminated all but one? Since the answer is probably yes, I'll contribute a guess: Milo Ventimiglia. He went out with Alexis Bledel, and who better fits the description of "superannoyingly perfect" than the younger Gilmore? And Tile could be a contraction of "Twenty Miles," which his surname translates to. Alexis, Hayden P....With his tastes in beards, one could say Toothy has led astray the good girl, no?

  182. Clay Aiken's "Real Me" Tip-Off?

As you've read, Clay Aiken has come out. But did he hint back in the spring that he was on the brink of opening up the closet?

Just check out out the lyrics of one of the songs on his most recent album, On My Way Here. In "The Real Me," Aiken sings:

Painted on, life is behind a mask
    Self-inflicted circus clown
I'm tired of the song and dance
Living a charade, always on parade
What a mess I've made of my existence.

    Hmmm?

Whether or not the song was meant to be about the agony of being in the closet, I have no idea. But it sure makes you wonder which "charade" he's referring to. "You're turning the tattered fabric of my life into a perfect tapestry," he also swoons. "I just want to be me."

And that's exactly what he's doing on the cover of People magazine: Being himself.

  184. Top 10 Video Game Movies

In continuing my movie lists, I have decided to do a list for my favorite video game inspired movies. Just to get this straight, I don't think there has ever been a completely successful video game turned into a movie. I think they've all been okay to terrible. That being said, here is still a list of my top ten favorite video game movies. This is only my opinion.

#10 Street Fighter (1994) - I remember when me and every other boy around my age couldn't wait to see this movie. Street Fighter II was at the height of its popularity in America and a movie with Jean-Claude seemed like a dream come true. Little did we know how very wrong we were. We should have known better when Guile was to be played by a Belgian actor.

#9 Doom (2005) - From the start, I knew this movie would be a disaster. First off, it has The Rock. Second, Andrzej Bartkowiak was helming the project who brought us so many of those great Jet Li/DMX movies. However, there is one thing that the movie does right, and that's the first-person camera view near the end. I thought that part was pretty fun to watch and well-done. Other than that, this movie is 23 shades of poo.

#8 Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) - I never understood the appeal of the Tomb Raider games. Big-chested female version of Indiana Jones with guns looking for treasure? So, I wasn't really looking forward to the theatrical version. I'll admit that Angelina Jolie is a good fit as Lara Croft, and some of the action sequences were entertaining, but the movie suffers from poor character development and an uninteresting story.
    ...

Here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for...

#1 - Alone in the Dark - Sike!

#1 Resident Evil (2002) - When I first saw the trailer for Resident Evil, I expected it to suck big time. I was forced to screen it and I ended up liking the movie quite a bit. Although I've never played the video games, I've heard that it captures the Resident Evil environment pretty well. However, I've heard that it doesn't really follow any of the games' storylines. Still, I think that is for the better because I found Paul W.S. Anderson's story to be fantastic. I really enjoyed the twist near the end and some of the action. But, I do think the sequels were really lame.

Here's a quick look at some forthcoming video game films (in chronological order):
    ...
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Prince of Persia is a good game that I never had the chance of playing. It sounds like the movie can be taken any direction, which is good for the story. Also, Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Four Weddings and a Funeral) is directing which isn't such a bad thing. Jake Gyllenhaal seems like a good fit as Dastan, a 6th century prince of Persia who teams up with Princess Tamina (played be Gemma Arterton, who we'll see in the next Bond movie) to rescue the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that controls time, from the hands of the villainous nobleman, Nizam.

  185. I don't know about you but I'm starting to like Reeke. Not because they look real or good together but because it is the best example of how HW works and there is so much we can learn about other false celebrities just paying atention on what Reeke is doing.
I know it would be better if we read books but...what the hell! This is a lot more entertaining

    peace&love

    "Where were you?

Reese Witherspoon arriving at LAX the other day seems to be in good spirits…

Wonder where she was coming from?

Jake Gyllenhaal was on location a few weeks ago and she travelled to Morocco to spend some time with him there... perhaps she’s returning again from another visit?

Reese stars with Vince Vaughn in Four Christmases due out at the end of November. Trailer is below. Photo shoots, interviews, and promotion should be ramping up about now that we’re 8 weeks out. Which means we’ll be seeing a lot of Reese Witherspoon in the coming weeks…and since she’s not averse to exploiting a relationship now again when there’s something to sell, it’ll be interesting to see if we’re also treated to a few new sets of Reese Jakey “candids” around the same time too.

  187. it is the best example of how HW works

I would prefer some other example for learning about Hollywood.

  188. Yes Lainey, we know that Reese has a shitty movie and cosmetics to sell.

  191. Lainey was and is supportive of "Jake & Reese couple", but she keeps mentioning that Reese is a major PR whore.

  192. And that was the reason why link to Lainey's site was removed from GB blog.
    LOL

  193. Lainey is supportive and thinks they are legit but that they pimp out their relationship when it suits them, read her archives on them.

BTW, someone should point out to Lainey that Jake wasn't vacationing in Morocco, he was filming a movie, she posted the Jake and Reese on set pics on her blog like everyone else.

  194. Lainey talked about Reese as a PR whore before Reeke (Oscar).

  195. BTW, someone should point out to Lainey that Jake wasn't vacationing in Morocco...

I don't think Lainey cares about such details.

Lainey just wants Jake to be straight and doesn't want Reese to be a loser again (Lainey hates Ryan).

Boy George tells George Michael to get clean from drugs

Boy George yesterday told George Michael to "get clean" following his latest drugs-related arrest.

Speaking on the Alan Titchmarsh Show, the singer, 47, said: "I'm sober now - I don't drink or take drugs. It's chaotic and miserable. "I do sympathise with George... you need perspective and the only way to do that is to get away from your drug problems and get yourself clean."
