Yep, I’m Gay

April 14, 1997

"I hate that term 'in the closet,'" says Ellen DeGeneres, the aforementioned sitcom star whose all-pants wardrobe and sometimes awkward chemistry with male ingenues was provoking curiosity from fans and reporters long before her sexuality became a minor national obsession. "Until recently I hated the word lesbian too," she continues. "I've said it enough now that it doesn't bother me. But lesbian sounded like somebody with some kind of disease. I didn't like that, so I used the word gay more often."

What she hasn't been able to bring herself to do, until now, is use the word gay along with "I am" in public. Indeed, for a lot of men and women whose livelihood depends on the goodwill of millions, those may be the three scariest words in the English language.

"No, he whined to the press about the big meanie director being mean to him."

Reading the article I don't think anything was made up. Same thing, different wording.

No, I'm not shocked. but then again I'm not David Fincher so it doesn't count. Just think he's unprofessional to make the comment.

Can you quote the comment you find unprofessional?

Fincher, Gyllenhaal

David Halbfinger's N.Y. Times piece (2.18.07) about David Fincher's Zodiac has some very candid quotes from the three stars -- Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey, Jr., Mark Ruffalo -- about Fincher's exacting perfectionism, and particularly how this sometimes led to their having to perform a scene 70 times or more. And it's hilarious stuff. Really. I would imagine that anyone reading this who hasn't yet seen Zodiac will now want to see it all the more.
...
"Downey, impeccably cast as a crime reporter driven to drink, drugs and dissolution, called Fincher a disciplinarian and agreed that, as is often said, "he's always the smartest guy in the room." But Downey put this in perspective.

"Sometimes it's really hard because it might not feel collaborative, but ultimately filmmaking is a director's medium," he said. "I just decided, aside from several times I wanted to garrote him, that I was going to give him what he wanted. I think I'm a perfect person to work for him, because I understand gulags."

Interview Magazine
September 2007

...
JG: Don’t you find it hard to follow up one film with another? For instance, Zodiac, the movie we did together, is so well-crafted it must have been hard to get your head into the next project.

DF: Well, we made it for you and about six people.

JG: [laughs] Hey, a lot of people loved that movie. I’ve gotten so many comments from people about it. The other day I was on the elevator with a guy. and he was like, “Hey man; I just rented your movie Zodiac.” So I told some people, and they were like, “Why didn’t you grab him by the neck and say, “Where were you when it was in the theater?”

DF: So anyway, have you shot anything else between Rendition and this conversation?

JG: No.

DF: Fantastic, because they were working you like a dog when we were making Zodiac. I was like, This guy’s on a plane every weekend going someplace to chat about this or be there for that.

JG: Well, that was just a weird time-Saturn and Mercury had aligned.

DF: And you didn’t know how to say no.

JG: That was a really big lesson. The whole question is, when opportunities come, do you immediately grab them? But do you know what I feel is a bummer? That people don’t know how funny you are.

DF: Well, that’s why I want to do musical comedy. You should do a musical comedy too. No one would expect it from....well, they might expect it from you. But seriously, I think people are just too depressed right now. Your movie Rendition has it’s finger on the pulse of exactly why choose to make hero movies or comic book movies: because they want the world to be simpler, more understandable place.

Thanks for the link 9:44am. I've just listen to the interview and Fincher sounds pissed with Jake's lack of professionalism. The way he talks about the actors who don’t seem to want to do their homework and who want to leave early and get lazy and not paying attention in reference to the number of takes Jake complained about makes it very obvious.

He also talks about Rendition, which he's not very thrilled with, so this interview must be more recent than the one with Jake in Interview. Very telling.

I loved Heath (still do) and wish the best for Michelle and Matilda. But I think Ryan Gosling is GREAT! He's a wonderful actor (much better than Jake) and I'll always remember how he and his sister wore black ribbons the night of the SAG Awards in honor and memory of Heath. Ryan talked about how his sister made these ribbons for both of them to wear in remembrance of Heath who had died a week before.

That's a cool guy. And if Michelle is going to date ANYONE after Heath, she couldn't find a better person.

Yes.

"April 8, 2008 -- PARTY girl Kirsten Dunst was sprung from her West Coast rehab center and is back in New York . . . and spending time off-set with her "All Good Things" co-star Ryan Gosling. Dunst, 25 - who reportedly checked into Cirque Lodge in February - was spotted with Gosling at Chrystie Street eatery Freeman's Saturday afternoon. "They were definitely acting like they were on a date," said the fellow diner. "They lingered there for hours and were both dressed kind of shabby."

I have no problem with Michelle dating anyone as long as the man has a good influence on Matilda's life. I never liked Heath with Michelle, OTOH Naomi Watts and Heath were such a lovely couple. He seemed really happy with her. I wish they stayed together then maybe today things would've been different.

Who Knew Jessica Biel Would Be The Nice One?

Did you know that Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal were doing a movie together? Kind of the perfect couple if you ask me. No demands for either of them. But, that is not the point of this post. The pair is filming a movie entitled Nailed which is filming in South Carolina.

One of the great things about the internet is that everyone wants to contribute gossip. Last week we got the great Ry Ry hissy fit from Ryan Reynolds in Boston, and this week we get Jake the Diva in South Carolina.

On Wednesday Jake was filming a scene in the South Carolina State House. This was going to be one day of filming. Had to get done, because the producers had not made any arrangements for any other days inside the building. Everyone was on their very best behavior and knew they would have only one chance. But someone forgot to tell Jake.

“He was complaining that the room was too small, complaining about the temperature, complaining about his chair,” our source says. “It was like watching a two-year old have a meltdown every five minutes.”

He complained so long, and so often that the crew was forced to shut down early, and the producers had to arrange for an extra day of filming. I'm just guessing that Jake has maybe found some southern loving and just wants to do everything in his power to stay a little longer. To be fair to Jake, the director of the film is the same guy who directed I Heart Huckabees and caused Lily Tomlin to almost kill herself. Word has it that James Caan who was also starring in this film quit after being abused by the director.

On the other hand, the person you would think would be more diva has actually been a joy. Jessica Biel has talked to anyone and everyone. She has posed for hundreds and hundreds of photos and even was seen turning cartwheels on the grounds of the State House. It seems that everyone in the town has fallen in love with Jessica Biel. And why not? She has her dog with her and her "trainer" and best of all, no Justin.

David O. Russell Strikes Again!

Five years may have passed since David O. Russell's now-infamous fight with Lily Tomlin on the set of "I Heart Huckabees" became a YouTube sensation, but in that time the director clearly hasn't learned how to breathe and count to five because James Caan has walked off the set of the director's new movie, "Nailed."

James' camp is downplaying the rumored on-set ill-will by claiming old faithful, "creative differences," which is akin to citing "irreconcilable differences" in a divorce. It could mean a whole mess of things. "James Caan did amicably part ways with this production due to creative differences. He wished all of the actors and production crew well when he departed," his publicist tells PopWrap.

These two respected actors aren't the only ones who've clashed with the notoriously prickly director. Back in 1999 David and his "Three Kings" co-star George Clooney actually got into a fistfight, complete with schoolyard taunting, over David's perceived poor treatment of the crew. George later called the incident "the worst experience of my life."

But the drama doesn't end there, apparently Jake Gyllenhaal, also starring in "Nailed," has also been causing problems on set. The crew was filming at the South Carolina State House on Wednesday when Jake began acting like a diva, according to one report.

"He was complaining that the room was too small, complaining about the temperature, complaining about his chair," the source says. "It was like watching a two-year-old having a meltdown every five minutes."

On the plus side, Jake's other co-star, Jessica Biel, is getting on like gangbusters with the crew and locals in South Carolina. She was called "delightfully friendly" by one by-stander who also witnessed her performing some cartwheels in between takes.

Well, two out of three ain't bad!

COMMENTARY: Ledger’s death makes ‘Knight’ a must-see

Whether out of respect for a performance that already has received critical acclaim, or out of ghoulish curiosity, the latest “Batman” movie will be difficult to resist.

Los Angeles, CA - Heath Ledger’s frenzied reinvention of the Joker had fans and colleagues buzzing. His dreadful clown face was seen online by millions, and stood as the goosebump-raising image upon which nearly all early marketing of “The Dark Knight” hinged.

All this, while Ledger was still alive.

Now the Batman archfiend stands as Ledger’s next-to-last performance. And while it’s not the first, “The Dark Knight” has already emerged as arguably the biggest movie featuring a posthumous role in Hollywood history.

Major stars including James Dean, Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Spencer Tracy and Will Rogers had high-profile films released after they died. The deaths of others — notably Bruce Lee and his son Brandon — created an eerie allure that heightened interest in their final films.

Yet none had the magnitude of a comic-book franchise with an illustrious 70-year history, and movies in those eras did not arrive with the fanfare of today. Certainly none had the advance word of a delirious, demented turn by an actor completely re-imagining of one of Hollywood’s greatest villains.

“It was punk, it was ‘A Clockwork Orange, it was druggie. It was this kind of fantastic, anarchic look to him. This character who had absolutely no rules whatsoever,” said Christian Bale,, who returns as rich guy Bruce Wayne and his crime-fighting alter-ego Batman. “That’s not like any Joker I’ve ever seen before, what I saw Heath do.”

As the sequel to 2005 blockbuster “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight” already was one of this year’s most-anticipated films. Opening July 18, the film’s must-see status has only risen since Ledger died of an accidental prescription drug overdose Jan. 22.

“More people will come to see it because of his death,” said Bill Ramey, founder of the fan Web site Batman-on-Film.com. “No doubt some people may be apprehensive about seeing it because there may be a little ghoulish factor about it. But I’m betting that more people now kind of look at it as a tribute to him, and the biggest tribute you could give someone is to go see it and enjoy his performance.”

When Dean died in a car wreck in 1955, studio executives lamented “there goes the movie,” figuring audiences would be scared away from his final two films, said Wes Gehring, who teaches film at Ball State University. To the contrary: “Rebel Without a Cause” and “Giant” were huge hits.

In today’s anything-goes celebrity climate, it’s doubtful anyone in Hollywood ever felt Ledger’s death might hurt the box-office prospects for “The Dark Knight,” Gehring said.

“It’s a tacky thing to say, but what would have been a negative in the past now could be a positive thing,” Gehring said. “I think we’ve done a flip-flop on pop culture. Now it might actually be a selling point for a movie where you say, ‘So and so’s dead. Let’s go see his movie.’ What might have been a hindrance in 1935 now won’t be a problem.”

In the days after Ledger’s death, fans debated how it might affect the film.

Would distributor Warner Bros. make changes or even delay its release? Would the advertising shift away from its early focus on Ledger’s demonic Joker and his mocking taunt, “Why so serious?” Would the Joker’s ghastly persona disturb fans? Would viewers be able to set thoughts of his death aside as they watch his performance?

“Of course, you find more poignancy in moments, and I’m very, very aware he’s not here with us,” said Bale in an interview shortly after the film’s opening segment — in which Ledger’s Joker orchestrates a bank heist — was screened in mid-March at ShoWest, a convention for theater owners. It was the first time Bale had seen the sequence, and Ledger’s death weighed on his mind.

“I can’t deny that kind of threw me watching that just now,” Bale said. “You can’t help but have that different feeling when I’m viewing it, especially since he’s somebody I was in touch with until just recently and believed would be a future friend.”

Director Christopher Nolan, who revived the franchise with “Batman Begins,” said he expects the performance will speak for itself, that morbid thoughts of Ledger’s death will not affect the way audiences view “The Dark Knight.”

“Having seen the movie myself in such heightened and tragic circumstances, no, I don’t think that’s going to be the case,” Nolan said. “What I found in watching the movie myself is that you’re not looking at the actor, you’re not looking at the friend, you’re not looking at the colleague. You’re looking at the Joker. ... He inhabits this character, and it’s an extraordinary icon, so it’s easy to enjoy it on that level, just as a great piece of acting.”

Ledger — known for serious films including “Brokeback Mountain,” which earned him a best-actor Academy Award nomination — was a surprise choice for the Joker, most famously played previously with Jack Nicholson’s giddy performance in 1989’s “Batman.”

Nolan, Ledger and their collaborators came up with a wildly different Joker, whose ominous clown makeup seems to have been finger-painted onto his face, an outer portrait of the black and twisted soul within.

Ledger’s performance floored two-time Oscar winner Michael Caine, who reprises his role as Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred. Caine’s first glimpse of the character came when Ledger emerged onto the set from an elevator; in an interview last September, four months before Ledger’s death, Caine said he was so startled that he forgot his lines.

“He came out of the bloody lift like a whirlwind,” Caine recalled. “They said, ‘It’s your line, Michael.’ I said, ‘What is it?’ Extraordinary. It will be one of the characters of next year, the Joker as played by him.”

Warner Bros. executives, who declined to comment for this article, have moved ahead with “The Dark Knight” and its marketing as planned. To do anything differently would have disrespected Ledger’s memory, the filmmakers said.

“The greatest testament to Heath’s portrayal is to do everything that we were planning on doing with Heath’s portrayal,” said producer Charles Roven. “His family knew him to feel exactly the same way. They knew how excited he was, knew how much fun he had doing it. When you see the film, it’s undeniable how much fun he had playing the character.”

While the “Batman” brand-name virtually assures blockbuster status for “The Dark Knight,” other posthumous films have had a mixed history.

Rogers scored a posthumous hit with “Steamboat Round the Bend,” as did Tracy with “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.”

Bruce Lee’s “Enter the Dragon” and Brandon Lee’s “The Crow” found broader audiences beyond action crowds because of their deaths. Singer Aaliyah’s “Queen of the Damned” overcame bad reviews to become a modest commercial success.

Received coolly by critics, John Candy’s “Canadian Bacon” and “Wagons East” were box-office duds, as was Natalie Wood’s “Brainstorm.”

The final films of Lombard (“To Be or Not To Be”) and husband Gable (“The Misfits”) earned critical acclaim and have held up over the decades but initially were disregarded by audiences.

Unlike Oliver Reed, whose death during the filming of “Gladiator” prompted the filmmakers to digitally graft his head onto another man’s body to complete a scene, Ledger had finished his work on “The Dark Knight.”

Ledger died with his final film, Terry Gilliam’s fantasy “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,” only half finished. Gilliam salvaged the production by casting Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell for the fantasy portions, each playing Ledger’s character on trips through a magic mirror into a parallel realm.

The snippets of Ledger’s “Dark Knight” performance released in trailers have captivated not only the average fan, but also his close colleagues from past films.

“You can tell Jack Nicholson was having fun doing that, but you can see Heath probably put his soul into it,” said “Brokeback Mountain” director Ang Lee. “That’s why it’s scary. You see the trailer, just a few shots of him, you have to see the movie. ... I’m anxious to see it. I’m afraid to see it. I don’t know how I’ll respond to it, but you have to see it.

James Caan and Jake Gyllenhaal Not Responding So Well To The David O. Russell Touch [Acting Out]

James Caan and Jake Gyllenhaal are the latest casualties of David O. Russell’s tastefully hands-on directing style, which this week resulted in the Caan’s departure from and Gyllenhaal’s apparent whimpering around the set of Russell’s latest film, Nailed. As reported today, Caan walked out after “creative differences” with the tempestuous filmmaker best known for berating Lily Tomlin while shooting I Heart Huckabees (or is it for fighting George Clooney during Three Kings? It’s always been too close for us to call).
...
We would have thought that after Gyllenhaal’s rigorous warm-up with David Fincher on Zodiac — over which his resilient co-star Mark Ruffalo famously commented “Fincher’s going to eat you for breakfast” — would have been preparation enough for the Russell Marathon to come. But while we’ll account for some level of gossipy exaggeration here, we really do hope an erstwhile Southern amateur can tape Russell leveling a “You’re worse than fucking Lily!” accusation at his pouty leading man and the extraordinary headlock-and-slapfight skirmish sure to follow. We’d even pay money for footage of Russell chewing out his co-writer Kristin Gore (Al and Tipper’s daughter) behind the scenes. This guy is loud; someone out there has to have heard something.

Fans of delicate, dreamy-eyed thespian Jake Gyllenhaal may reflexively wince in sympathy as we ask them to recall his harrowing description of the abusive conditions in which Zodiac sadist David Fincher forced his cast to toil, an experience that's left the actor with a paralyzing fear of his MacBook's "delete" key that may require years of intensive psychotherapy (involving the calming, self-negating act of continuously erasing the name "Jake" from an open Word document while discussing a performer's obligation to serve a director's vision) to cure. Curious about how accurate Gyllenhaal's account of his Zodiac ordeal may have been, The Reeler blog asked fellow Fincher plaything Mark Ruffalo about how their cinematic taskmaster ran his set:

"Yeah, you hear stories about him being so hard and intense," Ruffalo said. "And then I met him, and I immediately just loved the guy and was thinking , 'Well, when is he going to change? When is this guy that you keep hearing about going to pop up?' And my relationship and friendship with him got deeper as we went along. I think Fincher, what he has no patience for is incompetence or just a casual attitude toward the work. If you come in and you don't know your lines and you're not prepared, Fincher's going to eat you for breakfast. You know? And so the actors who complain about Fincher are usually the ones who don't show up knowing their shit, kind of."
Ah. So that whole thing last week with Jake Gyllenhaal's thinly-veiled Fincher critiques ("So there came a point where I would say, well, what do I do? Where's the risk?") last week in The New York Times — was that blown out of proportion?

"Like I said," Ruffalo replied, "Fincher only has a problem with people if they're not prepared — if they're not ready to work when they show up. Whatever form that takes — whether it's a prop person, an actor or whatever. I thought there were a lot of weird sour grapes in that New York Times article. We're actors, man; we get paid way too much. It's like 'Wah, wah, wah' to me to hear an actor bitching and moaning when they get paid as much as they do and we have a pretty great life. I don't have much sympathy for it."

Let's give Ruffalo credit for having the sensitivity not to mention by name any of the unprepared cast members whose tears Fincher used to wash down his morning repast of unprofessional talent; spending so much time with his co-star on the set must have made him realize that being publicly called out as a whiner might cause a still-fragile Gyllenhaal to curtail the artistically ambitious part of his career in favor of the less emotionally demanding world of Nancy Meyers films.

And so the actors who complain about Fincher are usually the ones who don't show up knowing their shit, kind of.

So, Ruffalo was one and only prepared and professional Zodiac lead. How nice of him!

Robert Downey Jr. about Fincher:
"Sometimes it's really hard because it might not feel collaborative, but ultimately filmmaking is a director's medium," he said. "I just decided, aside from several times I wanted to garrote him, that I was going to give him what he wanted. I think I'm a perfect person to work for him, because I understand gulags."

Where did I say it was I Hate Jake blog ? But why do some always have to make excuses for him? Post the nice thing about him and leave it at that. Why always justify his behavior. Face it he was complaining and wining about Fincher which is unprofessional behavior for an actor.

Why try to prove that Fincher was a slave driver? How does that make Jake look professional? David Fincher is one of the most respected directors in HW whereas Jake is just an actor like so many others.

Oh please you know the whole purpose of the 10:39 post was to present David Fincher as a hard director to work with (slave driver) and thus justifying Jake's unprofessional behavior. It was a response to 10:21… make Fincher look bad so Jake will look good. Btw I know it's you at 10:39. ;)

USA WEEKEND has summoned Gwyneth Paltrow, 35, Maggie Gyllenhaal, 30, and Liv Tyler, 30, for a rare round-table chat. All three actresses appear in big summer movies based on classic comic books, with Paltrow as Iron Man's trusted assistant Pepper Potts, Gyllenhaal as Bruce Wayne's lawyer pal Rachel Dawes in the Batman sequel The Dark Knight, and Tyler as The Incredible Hulk heroine Betty Ross.
...
Do you remember the first comic books you ever read?
Maggie: I didn't read comic books. And my brother [actor Jake Gyllenhaal] read Mad Magazine, which wasn't the same. I'm not really a major comic book reader. [Laughs.]

THE GOSSIP GIRL: Let Heath Ledger rest in peace

A certain Hollywood stud has been making numerous headlines lately. There's something that doesn't make sense about it, though. The hunky actor in question is dead.

With titillating stories swarming around his controversial death, the absence of his child from his will as well as his rumored love child, Heath Ledger became the subject of yet another hot gossip story. The gossip is that Ledger was unknowingly filmed while allegedly doing cocaine after an awards show. The incident has spawned a lawsuit between a woman who was also videotaped - though she stated she did not claim a line for herself - and the photography agency that may have been behind it all.

Though the lawsuit is a joke. The woman is just looking for money. The story itself brings up some interesting thoughts. The first thing to think about is that the legal battle really doesn't even involve Ledger at all, except for the fact that he was part of the hidden camera taping. This makes me wonder why the whole thing is even newsworthy. OK, so a celebrity may have done drugs. That's not exactly shocking.

More importantly, however, is that according to Usmagazine.com and Tmz.com, the tapes of the incident were sold to the television shows "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider," but were not aired. Though the tapes were thankfully not aired, it's still disgusting that people were even considering exploiting a deceased person. It's not as if Ledger is able to defend himself and his reputation, which would most likely be further wounded.

The whole event is even worse for the close friends and family of Ledger. I'm sure they would all prefer to just let him rest in peace and not deal with these incessant stories that disrespect and demonize him. None of this can be helping them through the grieving process.

And even though Ledger will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones, his recent death and the aftermath that has followed has given me new insight to that idea of living on. It's eerie how present he still is. People can still see him in the previews for "The Dark Knight." They still read about him in celebrity gossip stories and they can still watch him in movies they rent from the store.

All of this leads me to one thing - the key to immortality. It seems the way to live forever is through celebrity. Sure, the average person's image or memory may be captured in photographs or videos. However, celebrities are captured and kept in ways in which no mortal can compare. They will forever remain in journalistic archives, on movie rental shelves and in the tracks of old CDs, which will someday be antiques.

Some stars, though, remain more famous after death than others. Take, for instance, actor Brad Renfro. He and Ledger both died of drug-related causes around the same date. However, Ledger is, and will continue to be, more popular and talked about than Renfro, who was even omitted from an Oscar's memorial montage.

Nevertheless, I say Renfro is better off because at least he doesn't still have stories published about him that reflect poorly on the person he was. Can't we just lay our deceased stars to rest instead of squeezing every last story out of them that we possibly can?

Like the cliché goes - All good things must come to end. So I say we put an end to the good thing that was Heath Ledger's life and career and move on with our own.

Watts wanted Ledger's child, book claims

Naomi Watts wanted to have a child with Heath Ledger but the Brokeback Mountain star was not ready, the first biography since his death in January claims.

The book questions whether the on-off glamour couple had enough in common and says he was not mature enough for Watts. Revelations of Watts's desire to have children with Ledger came almost at the same time as the pair split for the first time in 2003.

Once dubbed Australia's "golden couple", the split came as a surprise - but, in the first sign of what would be a merry-go-round romance, the couple reunited just weeks later. Despite their star power, they were refused entry by nightclubs because of Ledger's scruffy appearance, wearing track pants on nights out partying in Australia.

Other revelations in the book include Ledger pinpointing the moment he became overwhelmed with a desire to look after ex-fiancee Michelle Williams, the mother of his child, Matilda. In the early stages of their romance in 2004, on the set of Brokeback Mountain, Williams twisted her knee in a tobogganing scene. Alarmed by her screams, Ledger spent the following days playing nurse to her as she hobbled about on crutches.

News of the upcoming biography by journalist John McShane - Heath Ledger: His Beautiful Life and Mysterious Death - was trumpeted soon after the actor's death, attracting criticism he was capitalising on the tragedy.

CHELSEA STOPS TRAFFIC ON GAY BAR CRAWL

PHILADELPHIA -- Chelsea Clinton stopped traffic Friday night as she wandered the streets of Philadelphia on a gay bar crawl, winning rave reviews for both her politics and her appearance.

Led around the neighborhood by Gov. Ed Rendell, Chelsea was mobbed by local gays and lesbians, as she walked from one club to the next. They ran up to hug her, posed for pictures and certainly invaded her personal space.

“I grabbed her ass,” one young woman exclaimed to her friends after snapping a picture with her arm around the former first daughter.

“Chelsea, the gays love you!” one fan exclaimed, as she took the microphone at Bump, a restaurant and bar that was her first stop. “Oh, gosh, I don’t know if everybody loves me,” she responded.

Who's More Of A Diva: Jessica Biel Or Jake Gyllenhaal? You Might Be Surprised

Jakey Poo always tries to come off with this low-key, just-a-regular-guy kind of vibe, and who knows, maybe he was just a regular guy before hits like The Day After and Brokeback Mountain. Well, times have changed for the prettier Gyllenhaal, and he has needs now that are important to the execution of his art. Or some happy horseshit like that.

Jake and Jessica are filming a movie called Nailed in South Carolina, and Jessica is just bowling the locals over with her sweetness and kind nature - seriously. She's been incredibly generous - posing for hundreds of photos and having a blast. The reason for her sudden elation? She's got her dog and rump-squeezing "assistant" with her, but no little man Timberlake. That means no tantrums, no unreasonable demands, and she gets to take the top. Jessica loves to be the top.

Jake, on the other hand, has been a whiny, pissy little toddler on the Nailed set, complaining about every little thing he can, and even cost the production an extra day of filming because of his childish antics.

Actors who had to fight hard to get up there in the business, usually appreciate their success more. Others who were really lucky because of connections can't appreciate their success as others who didn't have it that easy. There are exceptions like Burce Willis who acts like a diva, who was a dish washer before his break through. Jake has been lucky all his life, it's not surprising he acts that way, very few in his position wouldn't.

FITSNews - April 19, 2008 - By now, we’re used to getting shoutouts on our political coverage from national media like FOX News, Harper’s Magazine, LA Times and The Wall Street Journal. You see, unlike other blogs which exist solely to provide paid political advertising to their lame ass clients, we actually break real news around here.

Of course, this week our site has finally started generating some attention where we’ve always wanted it to - Tinseltown.

In fact, our recent stories about Jake Gyllenhaal’s meltdown and James Caan’s departure from the set of the movie “Nailed” have been picked up by literally dozens of celebrity gossip websites, including Hollywood.com, CelebrityBlend.com, The Defamer, and our personal favorite of the bunch, idontlikeyouinthatway.com.

Dark Knight Trailer Unveiled

Fans at New York Comic Con previewed a new trailer for The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan's latest chapter in the Batman saga, which featured a new look at Harvey "Two-Face" Dent (Aaron Eckhart) and the Joker (the late Heath Ledger) putting the moves on Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal, replacing Katie Holmes).

The new trailer, which clocked in at slightly more than two minutes, also featured Dawes facilitating the first meeting between Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) and Dent and the Joker addressing a gathering of Gotham's criminal leaders. Toward the end, Dent gives Wayne an ominous warning: "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Paul Levitz, DC Comics President, introduced the trailer as a surprise during a panel for The Incredible Hulk on April 19 and just before the surprise unveiling of a new Speed Racer trailer.

The trailer will hit theaters in a couple of two weeks. The Dark Knight opens July 18.

He was the youngest member of Congress from his inauguration in 2001, which occurred only a year after he became eligible to run under the Constitution, which requires congress members to be over 25 years old, until 2005, when Patrick McHenry, who is a year younger than Putnam and also a Republican from a southern state, was elected to Congress."

Gay Gossip Girl Gossip Won’t Quit

A bit of Hollywood’s tangled web comes undone this afternoon. Page Six recently “reported” that Gossip Girl beauty Leighton Meester had been seen with an attractive male companion. That companion, as Gawker points out, was New York magazine journalist Chris Rovzar, who reveals that Page Six’s “tipster” was, in fact, Meester’s publicist.

…A couple of weeks after the male half of us met with Leighton at Lunetta, an item appeared in “Page Six” about her having an intimate dinner there with a “hot male companion.” How flattering! And how exciting to be part of the real-life gossip that surrounds our favorite show. It would have been the highlight of our month, had we not known that a publicist for the show placed the item…

Rovzar and journalistic cohort Jessica Pressler go on to deduce the item was meant to create some titillating buzz for Meester’s show, as well as the restaurant. We can’t help but feel there’s something more queer afoot.

Need we remind you of Chace Crawford, the show’s “not gay” heart throb? He’s constantly in the news for his “romantic” adventures, like his over-hyped, under-seen and doomed relationship with Carrie Underwood. Or what about his dinner with new costar Michelle Trachtenberg.

Many people - including ourselves - doubt the validity of Crawford’s skirt chasing. And we doubt Meester’s publicist wanted to spread the word about Lunetta.

Could it be that Gossip Girl publicists are trying to put out two flamers? But in the end all this gay debate only fuels the show’s success. It’s a symbiotic relationship, really.

"Hiding in Plain Sight is the first full biography of Raymond Burr, one of the most popular TV actors of all time. He was the lead actor on the top-rated TV shows Perry Mason and Ironside, which between them ran uninterrupted for 20 years—a feat that has never been equaled.
"What is largely unknown is that Burr was leading a secret gay life at a time when exposure would have been career suicide. So to deflect questions, he created an elaborate cover story for himself as a grieving husband and father. He claimed to have been twice widowed—he said his first wife died in a plane crash and his second marriage ended with his wife's tragic early death from cancer. And there was also a dead son—little 10-year-old Michael who lost his brave battle with leukemia. Neither of the wives nor Michael ever existed. But that didn't stop these lies from being perpetuated again and again, up to and including his obituary in the New York Times. Why Burr chose this tactic can never really be known, but Starr offers some compelling theories."

Gosh! Thank God we've come so far that today's stars can all live completely open, honest lives without any deception whatsoever. Right, wink wink?

Wow! An interesting article about Raymond Burr, 3:43. I didn't know he said he was widowed twice and had a son who died young. What lengths they go to avoid being called gay. Here the gay community already had a gay actor in a lead role on television and yet at the same time they are still waiting for one to emerge. The biography looks to be quite good, I will be buying it since Burr was one of my alltime favorite actors when growing up.

I can see how two fictional dead wives make a good cover, but poor little Michael ... that's too much, that's creepy!

He did take it to the extreme, I agree, 5:13. On another note, I read an article in USA Today, called "Might our religion be killing us?' and it's for Earth Day and about overpopulation of the planet. And how religion in some cases promotes it by not advocating birth control. By doing so, they are destroying the earth. Even the Aztecs in ancient times made mistakes regarding disease and military defeat. So it goes a long way back. The article also says about how certain religious organizations discriminate against women and gays even though they should be doing the opposite and promoting equal rights for both groups. Good thing to read for Earth Day tomorrow.

USA Today: I recognize that religious organizations tend to be conservative institutions. Their continued resistance to equal rights for women and gays is a good example. A woman may be president of Harvard or speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, but in the largest religious organization on the planet, women still can't get ordained as parish priests. It's even worse for gays and lesbians.

One example - the Catholic Church in Africa is telling people not to use condoms because they have tiny holes in them through which HIV can pass. Instructions from the Vatican.

I just can't see religious organizations changing and working for the common good.

That's the sad thing about all this, 5:52. Even though this article is certainly uplifting to read in view of how the paradigm should be changed. I think it is at least the beginning of it. Or it points the way.

IT’S MR. GYLLENHAAL TO YOU

An incognito Jake Gyllenhaal was clearly in no mood for cameras as he made his way though LAX airport today en route to South Carolina.

This sighting comes after the prettyboy actor reportedly delayed filming of his upcoming movie following a “hissy-fit.”

“He was complaining that the room was too small, complaining about the temperature, complaining about his chair,” our source says. “It was like watching a two-year old have a meltdown every five minutes.”

First a personal umbrella holder and now an on-set meltdown? What’s next? A “no eye contact with the crew” clause in his contract?

Dear Ted:
Does Toothy's girlfriend know he's fond of boys, too?

How much of an idiot are you? And why are you so incompetent?

Dear Ted:
Got to ask…is Toothy Tile the obnoxious Spencer Pratt? Not that I think he, Heidi, Lauren and the group are actors by any means, but he and Heidi sure seem to be putting on an "act" with all the lovey-dovey fake photo moments. Seems like they have the perfect fake relationship. Also, what's up with Audrina? Every picture that girl takes has her eyes rolling up into her head...gross!

Dear Hills Headache:
There’s nothing we know (or care) less about than the intricacies of the epic melodrama that is The Hills, except, perhaps, what goes on—or not—in Hugh Hefner's boudoir. That said, one thing we know for certain is that Spencer is no Toothy, nor will he ever be.

I wonder if we'll see some Jake/Reese pics. Ryan had the kids this weekend.

Anonymous said...

Well, it's the 21st night. usually the pics are out straight away.

If he was going to meet Reese why the secrecy? They have been noted as a very pap friendly couple by some of the tabloids, no?

And where's the Avon handcuff..uh.. bracelet? I'm shocked Reese didn't make him wear it..

Oh dear, poor Jakey!

"If he was going to meet Reese why the secrecy?"

There is still a possibility that some pics with them from the weekend will show up!

Ted C. thought he saw something, made a BI out of it and blew it out of proportion. I'm talking about the TT tale. The TT stories became incredibly popular and he continued writing about TT aka Jake, but mostly made up stories. It brought him attention and Jake became one of the most talked about celebs on the net. Since Ted C. and Jake like the attention, Ted continued the BI's and Jake isn't bothered by it.
Now I'm not saying Jake isn't bisexual, but at the moment he is with Reese. If it'll last or not is another question. He is still young!

1.53 Don't be silly! If you really believe what you just posted I feel sorry for you....

2:10 AM whether you believe it or not doesn't matter!

I just read somewhere (okay Datalounge) that Jake's a 'silent backer' of Nailed.

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry.

"I just read somewhere (okay Datalounge) that Jake's a 'silent backer' of Nailed."

Well, then he can afford behaving like a diva! He's the boss so to speak!

"There are no guarantees in Hollywood. For example, why Edward Norton doesn’t have more successful movie career and work more?"

Um maybe because he's a well known arsehole and a box office flop? Hulk is his big chance.

Anonymous said...

Wonder why he's a silent backer? Is he embarrased by it? Plenty of actors have production shingles for this kind of thing. Why isn't he putting his name to the film as a producer if he's backing it? Hmmmm. Oh and it's hilarious to think of Jake the whiny diva holding sway over DR the whiny diva. It's probably a match made in heaven.

I think if Jake ever achieves the George Clooney level, he'll be unbearable to work with. Oj!

"Jake ever achieves the George Clooney level"

hahahaha! not in this life!
